Emma, the adorable Goldbud salesperson, with the two sweet summer fruits I bought: Flavor King Pluot and Organic Kelsey Plum
Belinda C.

Flavor King Pluots and Organic Kelsey Plums are sweet and juicy! Other special fruit varieties included Elegant Lady Peaches, Summer Lady Peaches, and Red Gold Nectarines. Peaches were huge. I had already loved and bought Elegant Lady Peaches from another farm that day, so I decided not to sample them here. I should have though! The adorable salesperson, Emma, allowed me to sample fruits and take her picture. All sales are done outside the building, which looked like a packing plant inside. Customers aren't allowed inside the building. Apparently, Ronald Reagan used to get fruit from this farm. Closing time is 5 pm. I went near closing, so there wasn't much fruit left, but what was left were all yummy, fresh, and high quality special varieties.

Our first stop was Boa Vista, where we headed straight to the pumpkin patch. There were so many pumpkins in different shapes and sizes! Prices ranged from about $8 to $20, depending on the size you choose. There are also little shops across the street and a BBQ spot right across from the pumpkin patch. From Boa Vista, we drove about a mile to High Hill. High Hill is bigger and has even more little vendors to explore. There's a pony ride for the kids, a pond where you can fish or simply sit back and relax, a fudge factory, and shops selling beer and cider. Of course, we couldn't leave without treating ourselves to some goodies! My husband got a slice of apple pie, and I got a cinnamon donut. Both were delicious! The entire area smelled like cinnamon and apples, which instantly reminded us that fall is finally here. The weather was absolutely perfect, with crisp air and everyone dressed in their favorite fall outfits. It was such a beautiful day to walk around, enjoy the scenery, and make memories with our corgi. We were lucky enough to find parking at both locations, but I highly recommend coming early! After 11 a.m., the traffic was terrible, and parking spots became hard to find. If you haven't visited Apple Hill, I definitely recommend adding Boa Vista and High Hill to your fall bucket list. Whether you're going for the pumpkins, delicious treats, little shops, or just to enjoy the fall atmosphere, there's something for everyone. And if you have a furry friend, it can be a fun outing for them, too!

I put in "Boa Vista" for my location because of the billboard I pass by off the 50. There was A LOT of people there for the Sat, live music at another venue. I recommend getting there early before it gets so packed and hot. Be prepared to walk from parking area. The lines were kinda long but they moved fast. Lots of tasty ciders and samples to try. You can leave with fresh pies to bake and fresh juices/ciders etc. The pumpkin patch was set up super cute with different slogans and plenty of photo ops. There was a cute train ride and so many vendors. Definitely a must see, young or old, but especially if you have kids.

There's just something about the smell of freshly made donuts, the crisp fall air, and the whole atmosphere. They're well-staffed and keep things moving efficiently, so even when it looks busy, you get your order surprisingly fast. The outdoor bench seating area is another plus. This stop has a little bit of it all. When you enter the main entrance, to the right is an area you can order fresh donuts and goodies. To the left a counter and area you can purchase more (fudge, caramel sauce, apples, candied apples, frozen pies, toys, products, etc). Outside, there is a bbq food counter you can order several different meal or side options. They offer fountain drinks as well. There are many places to sit and eat with a beautiful view. Along the side of the building entrance there are booths with vendors. There are activities for kids. There is a maze that you buy an all day access band for ($5) and gold mining (purchase a bag of choice , different sizes & items included, around $9). In the middle is a large grassy area kids can run around and a few trees that are nice for shade. All the employees that assisted me during my visit were very friendly and helpful. Even with a long line on the inside for goods, the line moved quickly. We ordered a few food items from the BBQ Stand. The brisket plate, side of fries, and carnitas tacos with a side of potato salad. The food was good. I enjoyed the brisket and fries. The potato salad was okay. The rest of my group enjoyed the other items. We tried plain chocolate fudge and it was delicious. Super cute fun stop! Family friendly.

End of September Perfect *Sweet-Spot*-Time To Visit!…read more SITREP This time of year - last week of September - ended up being the BEST TIME to go up and visit the O'Halloran's Apple Trail Ranch's Pumpkin Patch! THE SETUP In years past, my friends and I usually ended up waiting too long to trek up the hill (HWY 50) to Apple Hill to go pumpkin-patching: searching for the perfect pumpkin and *snippin* it ourselves right off the vine. It's good to note that there is also a vibrant pick-your-own apples and pears aspect to this ranch going on through the late summer, as well as a nice cut-your-own Christmas tree season that kicks in right before Thanksgiving. PUMPKINING-PRO-TIP For this review, we're focusing on the apple-picking and the pumpkin patch. On that note, if you want to catch good pumpkins, the next two (2) are the best time to go. Whereas, the one (1) or two (2) weekends in October before Halloween ended up being too late for a number of reasons: 1. The good pumpkins had already been picked; and, 2. The weekend traffic in late October is HELL: the handful of exits in that region are heavily regulated by law enforcement and traffic cones/restrictions making for headache of a drive to get INTO the many markets, wineries and pumpkin patches in that region. THE GOODS * I always get great apples when I come here: Fuji, Grannies, Mutsu, Golden Delicious, Pink Lady, etc. etc. and several other varieties (on a related note, I didn't see any pears out, so I may have been a bit too ealy); * Got a variety of medium-sized pumpkins, including 2 White Ones, a Green One, and 2 perfect Orange pumpkins! * Snipped a couple of sunflowers! THE ANIMULES! Something new that I haven't seen before (it has been 2-3 years since my last visit) they had a wonderful 4-H section set up with some animals: a bunch of chickens, a bunch of turkeys (big dudes! take a look at my pics!) and a bunch of kids (both the goat kind and the human kind, all having fun mixing up with each other. RETAILING - DOWN TO BRASS TAX (NOT TACKS) Cost me about $20 for a very mixed bag of 38-40 apples (5-6 different varietals) - an excellent deal and better than my Safeway or Amazon-Whole Foods delivery options (plus I selected the apples myself!) Cost me about $50 for five (5) largish pumpkin varieties. Again, less the options I saw at Safeway or Trader Joes in my hood. Obviously, it's not cheap these days to do a half-day trip up the hill (and it's far less expensive to go to your local grocer to grab a pumkin. But it's for the outdoor experience and to clear some headspace AWAY from Sacramento. Also couple this with treks to 2 different local wineries, and a stop at the Taphouse Bar & Grill in Placerville before hitting the road back to SacTown, all the costs aggregate together in a fun overall trip! THE LOWDOWN O'Halloran's is still a great place to all sorts of fun, seasonal produce, smell some fresh air, and have a lot of fun while doing all that.

1 Star Really…read moredisappointing experience. We were charged an $8 fee, but some of the other people we were with weren't charged at all. When we got up to the shop, we asked about the fee and were initially told there is no charge. Once we explained that we had already been charged, the story suddenly changed and they tried to explain why the fee applied. I'm not sure if we were charged because we had kids with us, but that makes even less sense considering this is a place that advertises family activities like the pumpkin patch and petting zoo. The whole thing felt inconsistent and shady. If there's an $8 fee, fine, just clearly disclose it and charge everyone under the same rules. Don't tell customers there's no fee and then change the explanation after they show you they were charged. Very weird experience and honestly felt like a scam. We won't be coming back.

Safe to say, we had ourselves a blast!…read more We didn't stay long this specific Apple Hill Ranch was one that people posted most of. So of course, we had to check it out on our way to Delfino Farm. We don't have kids so that's not an experience I can provide any insight on. However, we did bring our dog and a fun fact is that all of the Apple Hill Farms are dog friendly! Parking wasn't too bad although a bit dusty. There's a small pumpkin patch where you can peruse, take pictures, and even purchase pumpkins. They have a cute backdrop in the front of the pumpkin patch and an even cuter one in the back. In the back of the farm, there is a small petting zoo with a highland cow which is the cutest. They also have a large grass area with lawn games. On the weekends, they open up a farmers market type area. It was open on the Friday we went, which was nice, but not all of the booths are open. Apart from the pumpkin patch and Photo Booth there wasn't much for us to do with our dog. Some of the other Apple Hill Farms have small trails, General store, bakery, etc...

They even allow dogs, so bring along the fur babies as well. The ranch is open every Saturday and Sunday from May to December. Parking and admission is free. There's even a petting zoo. $8 to pet baby calves, small ponies, and the such. $4 additional for a feed cup. There is a large grassy lawn to throw down a towel or bring your own chairs, relax. Plus I gotta mention that they have no plumbed restrooms, they have porta toilets and portable handwashing stations. Not a deal breaker for me. Just letting y'all know. Every weekend, they have live music. We went on a night that Nikki Perez was singing. Happy happenstance. Man, she's a talent!! Look her up on IG. Around the stage there are Adirondack chairs and picnic tables. Saturday 10am-7pm Sunday 10am-5pm Later in the year, they'll open the u pick apple orchard in late August; then the pumpkin patch in late September; and then the tree farm in late November. Those seasonal events have additional children's activities. So much fun!Check out their IG and social media for the current happenings.
