Pine-O-Mine Ranch is in Apple Hill is a super cool place to hang and chill with the kiddos or make it an outing just with the adults. Family friendly vibes. They even allow dogs, so bring along the fur babies as well. The ranch is open every Saturday and Sunday from May to December. Parking and admission is free. They serve local beers, wine, hard cider, nonalcoholic flavored lemonades, and their famous apple cider milkshake. There is a food grill selling hot dogs and burgers. There's even a petting zoo. $8 to pet baby calves, small ponies, and the such. $4 additional for a feed cup. There is a large grassy lawn to throw down a towel or bring your own chairs, relax. Plus I gotta mention that they have no plumbed restrooms, they have porta toilets and portable handwashing stations. Not a deal breaker for me. Just letting y'all know. Every weekend, they have live music. We went on a night that Nikki Perez was singing. Happy happenstance. Man, she's a talent!! Look her up on IG. Around the stage there are Adirondack chairs and picnic tables. Saturday 10am-7pm Sunday 10am-5pm Later in the year, they'll open the u pick apple orchard in late August; then the pumpkin patch in late September; and then the tree farm in late November. First time here. Really cute spot! Dog friendly. There was corn hole. Food trucks (pizza). It was good! There was also a bbq spot near the barn doing burgers, hotdogs and pulled pork. Inside they had cider, beer and wine. There was a live band tonight too. Outside had lots of tables and vendors selling different things. Lots of parking. Great spot to hang out with friends or family and just enjoy the day. Only downside to me is that there's only porto potties. No real bathrooms. read more

UPDATED Review: Although Apple Hill is a recurring Fall activity for the family, we visited Pine-O-Mine for the first time on 9/27/2026. This ranch offers plenty of activities and plenty of food, snack, and drink options to try, with sufficient space to sit and enjoy it all. Definitely try their milkshake and cider flights. For the littles, the highlight was the play area with plenty of space to run, the pumpkin patch, and hanging out with the Highland cows/goats and getting to brush the their hair. Additionally, the majority of the vendors were friendly and welcoming, offering a variety of souvenirs and products to buy. Overall, the place was a vibe and the experience was enjoyable. The bad: As we were leaving, we stopped by the NorCal Kettle Corn stand to purchase a treat for the way home. My 6-year-old always gets excited when he sees tip jars and always asks for a dollar to throw in them. As we were walking to the car, he was bummed out; my kids then told me that when he reacted excitedly to the tip jar on the table, the woman selling the popcorn accused him "you were going to take it, huh?" and then grabbed the tip jar and pulled it back towards her. Her biases speak much more about her than they do about my child. It was unprofessional and trashy for the woman representing NorCal Kettle Corn to make that assumption and to directly accuse a 6-year-old child. If this vendor felt a small child wanted to take something from them, it should have been addressed with the parent at the other end of the table instead of being a bit** to a child while trying to make a sale with the parent. I initially left a negative review for the ranch, but I thoroughly appreciate that multiple vendors reached out to apologize and to help clear up confusion about who was responsible. Their communication and accountability changed what had been overshadowed by a negative interaction with the popcorn vendor. Will I go back to Pine-O-Mine? Yes, I will try again and recommend that you visit. Try their flights and check out the variety of products the ranch and vendors have to offer. My only caveat is to skip the popcorn stand near the entrance, and instead try the Carmazzi Kettle Corn that's sold in the barn! read more

September 20, 2025 - Placerville, CA We came for the handblown glass pumpkin patch and the day's festivities, which were advertised to include free popcorn and live glassblowing demonstrations. Wanting to beat the crowds, we arrived a little before 10 a.m. and found parking quickly after discovering an additional parking lot. I've started a tradition of picking up one glass pumpkin each year, but this time I left with two--thanks to my husband's suggestion. The selection of pumpkins was beautiful, as always. We didn't see the popcorn or the glassblowing demos, though in fairness we may have been too early. Instead, we tried the Pineapple Ginger Hard Cider, which was delicious. Since we didn't want a full pour, we asked about a smaller size. The server showed us a half-glass, which was perfect, but we later realized we'd been charged for a full drink anyway. By the time we left around 10:30, cars were lined up down the road waiting to get into the lot. Parking definitely seemed limited for such a popular event. Judging from the lines outside other Apple Hill venues as well, my advice is to avoid weekends if you can--or at least plan to arrive early. read more

It was my first time at this spot in Apple Hill and I don't know how I've missed it before. We tried the cider flights and I enjoyed the pineapple ginger cider. The red colored cider (I believe it was cranberry flavored) was also good. I wasn't a fan of the shandy (cider mixed with beer) and the dry cider. We came here for some apple picking and had a good experience! We were here on a Monday which is much better than the craziness on a fall weekend. However, we expected them to have food based on what we read online but they don't have the grill open on weekdays. They have a big lawn area with Adirondack chairs where we enjoyed hanging out with our baby. You pay an entrance fee per person and then pay by the pound for apples you pick. Despite how many orchards there are in Apple Hill, there's really not that many where you can pick your own apples. They had plenty of rows of trees full of apples for us to pick here which was a lot of fun! My favorites were the Granny Smith apples. Walked up and asked if they were grilling today, responded Smash burger or hot dogs. I ordered a Smash Burger with cheese and onions. While I waited, I ordered the cider flight and added the shanty for $2. Staff were friendly, ciders were really good, smash burger was really good. Ok let's start with the grounds. They are fun and insightful in how you can be near the music, playground or food. Lots of cool shady spots as well as photo opportunities in every corner. Second is the petting farm...how adorable are they? So Cute!! We went for apple picking on Saturday afternoon in late September. It is $5 per person for entrance fee and $3.75/lb of apple that you pick. The apple picking area was not too crowded. However, most of the apples were picked and only the smaller ones remained. At the end we paid $16 for the apple (which was pretty expensive for a little over 4lb). Lots of people with young kids were hanging out in the picnic area while enjoying food & the live music. The singer had a very good voice and we enjoyed it very much. I bought the apple cider shakes and it was a good treat in a hot day. The bbq smelled good but we didn't try as we had lunch beforehand. We have been coming to pine-o-mine for several years and we were very disappointed today. Live music was great, vendors were nice, playground was a nice (new) addition, but the change to the petting zoo was extremely disappointing. The group that used to run it was kind, laid back and shared information about the animals. This new guy was the opposite. We paid for our children & cups to feed the animals. I went inside the gate to show my son how to put the feed flat on his hand to then feed the animals & take a few pictures. I was rudely asked if I signed the consent form (which we already had) and told I couldn't even be in the fence without paying for myself. I was not interacting with the animals, just watching my children. He was rude. The pony was also acting out, so you could tell it had been penned up for too long. We won't be returning and I encourage others to visit other Apple Hill farms. read more

I'd seen it online and thought it looked great, but I'm not much of a drinker so it didn't seem like they had much to offer me. But then I was driving by and it looked so nice. I always figure that reality won't live up to Instagram images, but in this case reality was even better than the pictures. The place just looked so calm and peaceful that I had to stop for a visit. On a weekday afternoon late September there was hardly anyone there. I got a drink, and my dog and I sat out on the lawn and had a glorious, relaxing time. I wish there was more food to focus on, but I had such a nice time reading and just chilling here. Definitely my favorite farm of the day. Would highly recommend. This was my first visit to this Apple Hill stand but I'm not sure that I would return. It was a perfectly nice spot surrounded by beautiful trees and it's housed in a cool barn but there just isn't much to it. We, the audience, also demanded they sing Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." One birthday lady sang karaoke to Dolly Parton's "Jolene" when she didn't know all the lyrics and couldn't read them so well without glasses, incorporating that hiccup into her sung lyrics! After a day of wine tasting, it was hard not to laugh to the point of tears. The kids also made a karaoke request of Frozen's "Let It Go." Kids, couples, and birthday partiers danced at times. Thanks for humoring and indulging us so much, CJ and Devin!!! When I requested The Weeknd or John Legend, I received "Ordinary People." Bonus song was Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide." This was the first time I watched CJ Washington and Devin Wright sing, and they might now be my new favorite local musicians! Although I and one singer were the only non-white people that I spotted, I found the environment comfortable, interacting with the family in front of me from time to time. The young servers were so friendly. I asked them for their food recommendations. The bartender suggested the hot link that was topped with grilled onions and peppers, which was spicy and tasty. Beer, hard cider, and wine selections were from Solid Ground Brewing and North Canyon Cider Company. I was allowed to taste test 2 hard ciders and 1 wine. I loved the North Canyon's Pineapple Ginger Cider, a refreshing fruity drink with the alcohol barely noticeable. One man by the grill recommended the BBQ smoked mac and cheese, which came in the medium sized plastic container you might get from a grocery store deli. With its blend of cheeses, the mac and cheese is actually from Costco, but smoking it over the BBQ elevated it. That night, the BBQ grilled with oak chips, but Pine-O-Mine also smokes with applewood. Sometimes, the menu will include mac and cheese with tri tip. I was not allowed to order it off menu, but I saw another woman customer at the grill ask for it. I suspect the menu changes frequently. You order at the bar then go outside to the other side of the bar's wall to pick up your food from the grill. You hand them your receipt and don't get it back, so make sure to look at it or take a picture of it. One employee took his break inside a cute 2-seater Off-Highway Vehicle called a Polaris Ranger. As he answered my questions about the cool mini dump truck, a little boy wanted to climb inside to join him, but he wasn't allowed, of course! Only Port-A-Potties here. I think there were at least 4 of them. There is one sink with running water with liquid soap, hand sanitizer, and paper towels. It's along the trees on one edge of the parking lot that is closest to the wall with the bar/grill. Walk in the direction opposite to where the main road is...south, maybe? You can buy attractively designed Pine-O-Mine logo merchandise inside the barn. Pine-O-Mine was the perfect farm or rodeo setting out of a storybook or a Broadway musical. Every-time we make the trip, we see the cute little barn but never stop. This trip, with the crowds up the road, we circled back for a quick lunch. The service was really good, very attentive. Great brews and even better atmosphere. They had a spectacular black lager and the IPA was smooth. Heading back home after leaving Boa Vista Orchards. Saw a band playing and noticed there was a small crowd, made a U-turn and went here. They served BBQ and they had a massive smoker. It's the first day of fall and that means apples and warm spices and hard cider. The space is this beautiful barn with lights strung all along the property. But what really caught my eye at the bar was the apple shandy. This refreshing summer concoction ushered in fall for me. The cup was rimmed with the raw honey sold onsite and a salt sugar mix that gave the drink a savory note. The base of the drink was apple cider and it was mixed with one of their pilsners on tap. Nothing is as juicy as a fresh picked apple and in most cases, apples at the grocery will never compare. When biting into fresh picked apples, it is so fresh that apple juice trickles down your arms. These apples, along with all the other apples on the hill, are notorious for making some of the best apple cider ever. In addition to the freshest apples, I love showing the kids where our food comes from and how much work farmers put into nourishing people. Usually, we love to pick our apples at Denver Dan's #14, but this year, we were looking for a new experience. That's when we came to Pine-O-Mine. If you're a parent like me, you'll love Pine-O-Mine because it's a fun yet educational place to take the family. We entered the farm and drove a little ways down before we were met with a bright red barn lined with apple trees and a pumpkin patch. If you've visited High Hill Ranch, this farm will be small in comparison, but don't be fooled, it has a lot of charm. The farm has several of the most popular varieties of apples to pick from- Fuji, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious & Red Delicious. You grab a bag from the barn and return to get them weighed after you've picked your apples. After a fun time hunting for apples, me and my family grabbed a bag of caramel corn from the tent that we overhead people raving about. The caramel corn was delicious and kind of took me back to my childhood, reminding me of Cracker Jacks. Not only was the caramel corn delicious, it was sold by passionate people from a family owned business inspired by their grandma's recipe. The farm also has hot food brought to you by Brawt Envy. Their sausages were fresh, juicy, and delicious. The guys that made our food were down to earth and made our experience much more enjoyable. In accompaniment, we had the mandatory caramel apple milkshake, which never fails. Next time, I have to get the Apple Pie Milkshake which is an apple milkshake with a piece of pie added in. A worker told me how good it was and I was sold at that moment. The farm has great scenery, food, dessert, nice people, pumpkins, U-Pick apples, photo opportunities, scenery and a great and relaxing environment. From now on, it will be added to our list of farms to visit during our trips to Apple Hill. Notes: -Apple Picking is all about timing and weather. Stumbled upon a little treasure in Apple Hill today! We were on the hunt for fresh produce and were tempted by an open sign, a beautiful barn and a cowboy standing in the doorway! This is a family owned apple ranch/farm and they are transforming it with beer on tap from Solid Ground, and house made hard ciders! In addition, they are serving up Texas style, melt in your mouth Brisket (just drooled a little) with sides!
