The food was absolutely delicious! I had the Petite Fillet with red potatoes and sautéed mushrooms, served on a sizzling platter, and the steak was incredibly tender and flavorful. The salad was mixed baby greens with a nice balsamic vinaigrette dressing, and I had the chocolate mousse for dessert. Awesome meal! It's been awhile since we have eaten here and I gotta say the food is soooo good! There were six in our group and John greeted us warmly as he made us our drinks of choice. My buddy suggested I get an order of crab cakes as they are the best. Yes the crab cakes are excellent! My wife and I each ordered the sizzling filet and they was done to perfection. We ended up here because of a Groupon deal, which seems a little ironic because there are a few complaints about Groupon deals scattered amongst the Yelp reviews - "the Groupon deal didn't allow this or that... blah, blah." Whatever. Groupon deals often have limitations, get over it - or don't get Groupon deals! I'm thankful for Groupon because without it, we probably never would have stumbled across this place... so Groupon did us a HUGE favor before we ever took a bite! The first thing we did (due to the Groupon gripes) was ask what we could have and what we couldn't have due to our Groupon deal and it was clearly and completely explained to us. We both chose specials - which were covered by our Groupon deal. My guest ordered the double cut pork chop and I ordered the smoked salmon fettuccine Alfredo. We shared back and forth and I felt both dishes were excellent. The pork was tender, juicy and very flavorful... the fettuccine rich, creamy and also done "just right". The thing that struck me most was the delicate balance of flavors achieved in the kitchen - the chef clearly has some talent in this area. read more

The menu is small but the options are diverse enough for everyone in your group to be happy. This place isn't necessarily kid friendly food wise, but the owner was super sweet and made my son some noodles with butter and cheese. My husband and I both got the steak salad. The steak was so tender and tasted amazing. My mother in law got the pork chop. Let me just say I don't like pork never have, but this pork chop was by far the best thing I've ever had. It was tender and the flavor was just outstanding. They have a full bar plus a wide variety of wines. I wish I lived in the area so I could come back and try something else on the menu! The restaurant has a lot of art, nice lighting, and is overall unique inside. The sizzling mushrooms appetizer is delicious! This restaurant has fine dining prices and is meant to be fine dining, unfortunately the food is pretty bland and the menu is very limited. Do you want filet, filet, or filet? The filets were really uncooked (barely warm in the center) and had no seasoning. You have to slightly season filet because it is not fatty like other cuts. The mashed potatoes had no flavor and simply tasted like the water they were boiled in (no butter, no cream, no herbs), same for the slightly undercooked side veggies. The service was OK, but it was so HOT in there, I noticed their thermostat was set at 83. I mentioned to the only man in there its pretty hot in here. He said there was nothing he could do. Gee, How about lowering the thermostat? It was hard to feel that comfortable to have a meal while I was sweating. This restaurant has been around for quite awhile & i looked forward to trying it. In December we had the opportunity & made a reservation. They had a large Christmas dinner party at the Time of our reservation & they probably should have closed except for the party. We were seated in the back corner, our cocktail drinks left something to be desired & service was terribly slow. When our entrees arrived, poached salmon for my husband & seafood scampi they had a distinctive off putting smell, but we went ahead & ate some. Neither one of us could finish our meal. My mom and I both wanted to try the soup, so we each ordered a cup of that, then shared a plate of the salmon special. What a treat! The soup was to die for....it was so tasty, j wanted to fill a big tub of it and swim in it - haha!! Seriously though, it was delectable and I hope they offer it again. Then there was the salmon....can I just say, WOW?! The fish was cooked to perfection and the dill sauce it was served with was rich in flavor and creamy to perfection. I need that recipe stat! It was served with rice and sauteéd winter squash. Absolutely wonderful! While I did not order any wine, I did notice they have a rather large wine list with wonderful options. We came here recently for the first time. We live in a rural neighborhood and this was rated one of the nicer of restaurants for our date night ahead. The place is located in a little western looking spot. As soon as you walk in it's very intimate with low dim lighting. The decor had a mature feel with a small dining space and full bar seating option. The place is smaller but perfect fitting because they are only open for dinner. The husband and wife that own this place ran the entire operation while we dined in. The wife prepared our amazing dishes and the husband served us. They both were such a pleasure to meet. They are personable, friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The Mrs. is sure talented in that kitchen of theirs. Oh my that food was GREAT! When she stepped out of the kitchen I had to shake her hand and give her that compliment. She deserves that and more. We ordered the baked Brie appetizer to start. A must! Two of the specials: the poached salmon and the pork chop. Both were to die for! I literally cannot say enough. A must, must, must! And the chocolate mousse for our finale. Another... must! WOW! Please avoid the Snooty Frog in Cameron Park. I've been stopping in there Monday evenings to grab a bite before choir since I'm stuck in town....until last night. A woman I thought was just the cook was standing at the bar loudly spewing homophobic hate speech that was so vulgar I'm unwilling to repeat it here. I complained to the owner, who apologized for her, and I paid and left without finishing my dinner. I've since learned she's his wife and the co owner and chef. However I won't be returning and am so disappointed that homophobic comments made by one of the owners at the bar were CONFIRMED by the owner on Nextdoor! Her explanation? It was a private conversation and the review about the comments on yelp was 3 years ago. You were speaking in front of customers at the restaurant you own - that's not private! We went here yesterday September 3rd for our 55th Anniversary because we read such great reviews. When we arrived we were seated immediately. Only one other couple in the dining room. There menu was very minimal only one chicken item. Didn't state what side came with entrees. No wine list, the only service was a very young girl served us water. We waited and waited. The cook came out and said something to the other couple and they said they were waiting to order drinks, she was right behind us, never stopped at our table to check on us. Now no one was ordering food but she went back to the kitchen and stayed there. The man that showed us to the table was working the bar and could have cared less about us. There was no waitress at all. So we waited longer and decided the hell with this! So we got up and left. If I could give less than one star I would. read more

I have been to this husband and wife restaurant many times over my many years living in Cameron Park, and the food is generally good to great. The owners share the duties between front room, martini man, the husband, and the chef, his wife. Even though this place is lightly visited because of location and awareness, they clearly have enough regular clientele to survive for many years. A testament to solid kitchen and an attention to detail, which is there. The steaks, fish and other items on the menu are generally high quality cuisine and at a fine dining price tag. It's generally a place for a steak and a martini, and a great place for a quiet time to talk, enjoy and never be rushed. My parents and my family (6 people total) went for dinner here. We were the only ones in the restaurant. We were seated at a table that had ants running around on it. My wife hates ants and is grossed out by them so we politely asked for another table. We were reseated, had our menus and were provided water. My mother ordered a glass of wine and my dad a coke. Everyone else had water. My wife had dead ants floating in her water. It was a deal breaker. The waiter made sure we paid full price for the glass of wine and the coke ($12) and was not as apologetic as I would have hoped in a situation like this.
