Thanks to owners Sheila and Tim for such a great day of yummy food and fun!

Oh boy are you in for a treat! On the first Sunday of every month (weather permitting!) it's barbecued oyster time! Tim serves up the most delicious bbq'd oysters we've ever had! Fun day! Great service! Great live music! Great ambiance! You can't go wrong! Trust me! (Full bar and great beer on tap as well!) Thanks Sheila and Tim!!!

My Empress loves the clam chowder and feeding the fish!

Great food and service!!! Will definitely be back. Oysters and clams were fresh and just what we wanted.

Charged more for item than menu price

To start I want to say I only leave reviews if they are worth reviewing, this restaurant was awful. The service was extremely slow. Bread was served cold. The lobster bisque I'd rate a 6/10 considering the flavor was great but there were no chunks of lobster, they could have bought the Walmart soup and served it, that's that. The Cioppino was the worst thing out of what we ordered. It had little to no seafood, tasted like watered down great value marinara sauce, with not fresh veggies for the price. The bar tender didn't even know how to make the drinks on their menu, which is insane. The cherry on top the receipt DIDN'T match the menu prices, if you go here make sure to read your receipt. I get it's only $1.08 but that is stealing from customers and that is illegal.

The food is great; the staff is very friendly and provides excellent service; and the venue has a fun relaxed atmosphere; and the live music is also very good. It's on Main Street in the beautiful town of Placerville, CA - a sweet town in the foothills of California, about 35 miles from Sacramento, the state's capitol.

My family and I went for the day to visit Apple Hill. We had decided on our way home to find somewhere to eat. We came to downtown Placerville to check out the scenes and grab dinner. We parked in their parking garage. Free parking..not something you'll find in the Bay Area so it was a pleasant surprise. We then started walking and checked out a few places and landed here. All the other places we walked passed were full. I kinda had a feeling why this place was empty. Anyhow, we were seated immediately. We threw a couple of tables together since we were a party of 6 adults and a baby. Waitress came over and was nice and welcoming as could be. She left us with our menus after whisking away to grab our drinks. They are a pub so had a decent selection of beers on tap. Husband chose an IPA. Along with our drinks our waitress following it up with some bread and butter. We ordered: 1. 3 cups of clam chowder as appetizer: soup was ok. Came out hot with a side of oyster and saltine crackers. I think I got one morsel of clam in my cup. 2. 2 chicken fettuccine Alfredo: those whom ordered were not happy. The pastas came out in gigantic bowls. They looked good. Those whom ordered pasta couldn't wait to dig in. Only the Alfredo sauce was bland. The chicken was bland. It was all swimming in a pool of unflavored white sauce. I tried to doctor up my husband's bowl with salt, pepper, parmesan cheese and Tabasco but there was no salvaging it. 3. 1 chicken fettuccine Primavera: my son ate some of his noodles as he was starving. But his too was pretty bland. The only thing that saved his was the tartness of the tomatoe sauce. 4. 1 veggie fettuccine Primavera: please see #3. 5. 1 crab and avocado sandwich: my daughter said it was OK. 6. Children grilled cheese: my granddaughter seemed please. Bread was grilled nicely and cheese was melty. 7. Bbq Ribs: a platter of huge ribs came out with a side of potato salad. The potato salad had a nice consistency but needed some salt, pepper and a dash of pickle juice. The ribs. The ribs weren't bbq's , they were probably oven baked. Without seasoning. Whomever made these ribs thought the tart bbq sauce was enough seasoning. I feel like they ladled the bbq sauce over the ribs to try to mask the lack of grill marks and seasoning. The ribs were fall off the bone but that's why I suspect they were baked. Unfortunately forgot a few photos as you can see. We didn't take anything home. The waitress even commented that some of it didn't even looked touch. The one star is because the waitress was so kind, bubbly and attentive. If it wasn't for her I would have disputed the $200 bill. Someone may wanna call John Taffer and his crew from Bar Rescue because this place needs an overhaul.

So if you like those Raiders of the Lost Ark vibes, then you would like sitting next to the mine for sure. It's roped off but you can hear the water dripping and it is naturally cool. The structure was originally built as a hotel in 1853 and has been well preserved. I ordered their Smith Flat House salad ($10) and the Jambalaya Risotto ($34) which consisted of Cajun-marinated prawns, lobster meat, Andouille sausage, grilled sweet corn with saffron chicken risotto. Definitely had a bit of a kick to it, the risotto was done well. My pet peeve is mushy risotto, it needs to have a slight bite to it which this one had thankfully. Love the fact that this place serves up local wines -- I couldn't recall the wine I had and they do not have their wine menu on their website. If you have the opportunity to visit, I'd recommend a glass of red from Starfield (winery up the road).

Yay! Our new favorite lunch place on Main Street!…read more We just stopped by last weekend, we've been wanting to try this place out but it just hadn't happened.... Last Monday we decided to have lunch there, one of our regular places is closed Mondays and this place was open so we checked it out...and we're SO SO glad we did! Atmosphere was nice and server was very friendly from the moment we walked in. First thing I noticed; $5 mimosas!! I asked if they did anything other than orange juice and yes, they had several other options so I had the cranberry version. Delicious! I went with their mac and cheese, my partner got the basic hamburger. Mac and Cheese -- definitely very bacon forward, much more than I prefer. That being said, I still liked it, it also had sour cream and green onion on top. Bacon lovers will LOOOVE this version, there is LOTS of it and every bite you can taste it. Normally I prefer my mac & cheese with no bacon or just a bit here and there, I prefer to taste more of the cheeses.....again, it still tasted good, its a good serving and I ate half and had enough to save for the next day at work. Creamy and well made, again I just prefer to taste more cheese than bacon. I wouldn't order this again but like I said, a bacon lover will LOVE this version. Now, my partner's burger was Incredible. We are PICKY with our burgers, and we both thought this one was fantastic. Big, and great ratio to the bun. He ordered it medium and asked for "a little char" and they made it perfectly. I took a bite and yeah, I'd order that for sure. The fries were great, too. Overall we were super happy with our lunch, I thought it was priced fairly as well. We will definitely be back!!

The pitfalls of the restaurant seem to be entirely the service. Most recently we went to Franny's on Mother's Day. We had reservations and walked in, on time. We were initially sat in a nice booth in the front of the restaurant. It was my wife and I plus our 2 kids, the table size seemed appropriate. After being sat, we sat without talking to a server for 10+ minutes, not even getting waters. Eventually, when someone did come, it was a waitress/hostess telling us that there had been a mix up, and we needed to move. We weren't excited on the idea, as we were happy where we were, but we moved to the back of the restaurant. This time we sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged by any wait staff. At this point it is 9:25 and we've been seated for 25 minutes without even water. Finally a waitress comes, and takes our drink order, and our food order as we'd definitely had ample time to look over the menu. About 9:50 the food arrives. My wife and kids' food comes and is great. My food comes and looks off, and the waitress tells me that the kitchen accidentally made me a "veggie" scramble instead of the chorizo that I had ordered, but that she'd get me some bacon and all was well. I asked what was in the veggie scramble and was told it has mushrooms, which is a hard pass for me. She told me she could have what I had actually ordered made but it would "take a long time". I said O.K. - what else was I going to do? Finally it comes, and my wife is done eating, and the kids are close, so, I asked for it to be "boxed up". The waitress rolled her eyes and set to the task. I'm not a restaurant snob - but I really expected an apology or something to be "comp'd" due to the rough experience, but nope, full bill and no apology. Regrettably, despite Franny's being a local joint and having good food, we won't be back.

The meal came with a side of warm bread, and it paired perfectly with the side of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We look forward to many more meals here. We came across three female lobsters with eggs, and although some people consider it lucky, it honestly didn't sit well with me. From what I understand, egg-bearing lobsters are typically supposed to be released, so it made me worry about long-term sustainability and potential shortages. Other than that, the experience itself was enjoyable. We requested a table with a view and got to watch the sunset while eating, which made the dinner feel extra nice. The prime rib was definitely my favorite. The crab was juicy and fresh, sushi was just okay, but the poke was surprisingly flavorful. I skipped dessert, but my boyfriend said that ended up being his favorite part of the night. I'd still come back again, but I really hope they become more mindful about the lobster situation.

We actually had a few family members back out because we were under the impression it was mostly seafood, but it turned out to be a full standard buffet with plenty of variety: pastas, salads, pizza, soups, prime rib, and more. Definitely something for everyone. Pricing was $60 for adults and $25 for kids 12 and under, which honestly felt fair because there's no way two tween girls were about to put away $60 worth of food each. I don't recall hearing about a senior discount, and if they do offer one, I wish it had been mentioned since we had two grandmas in their 80s with us, plus adults in their 50s and 60s. Me, freshly turned 29 however? I'll bravely shoulder the $60 burden. No problem at all. One thing that did work out nicely: parties of 8 or more automatically get an 18% gratuity added. Since you pay upfront when you walk in, it completely eliminated the usual family debate over who's contributing or covering the tip, which was perfect since I was treating. The restaurant itself is tucked pretty deep inside the casino, which is mildly inconvenient. It honestly reminded me of the old Fry's Electronics checkout maze where they'd route you past endless gadgets, gizmos, and candy before letting you escape. Except here, it's slot machines and gaming tables. After getting off the elevator, you walk a ways and then catch another escalator or elevator down another level or two. Maybe it only felt far because we were new to the layout, but give yourself a few extra minutes if you've never been. We were told reservations were required, though technically they aren't. There was a standby line for walk-ins, but it was easily 50 people deep while reservation holders were being seated quickly and given clear priority, as they should be. So while not mandatory, reservations are very strongly recommended. As for the food itself, the crab and lobster were salty but overall pretty good. There was one lobster that tasted a little "off" or muddy, but with buffet-style dining, it was easy enough to grab another. Fair warning though: lobster and crab are messy and take work. This is not a low-maintenance dining experience for the weak, lazy, or easily frustrated (LOL). The prime rib was solid, though not especially memorable. The mac and cheese was unfortunately bland, and the desserts were probably the weakest part of the buffet. The bread pudding was the standout dessert, and my sister swore the soft serve was surprisingly good. Overall, everyone genuinely seemed to enjoy themselves, and it felt like a worthwhile outing with family. We left full, happy, and glad we went. While I'm not completely sure it'll become a regular destination for us, I'd still say it was a fun experience and definitely worth trying at least once.
