    Tuscan roasted garlic pizza
    Alejandra G.

A unique find after an Apple Hill day with the family! We were seated downstairs in the cellar. It was a bit chilly but they pulled out a heater which was nice. They built their restaurant around an old miner's tunnel. You can peer inside and see it. Very rustic and authentic. Our server was this sweet older lady. (I don't get her name unfortunately). Service was quick. We ordered the following: - Tuscan Roasted Garlic pizza - Marmellata pizza (probably my favorite pizza. The flavor was so good. Usually I have ranch with my pizza, don't even need it for this one). - Turkey bacon avocado sando - blue cheese mushroom burger Portions were pretty good. Everything tasted good. Drinks came out quick too. I'd love to come back and sit in their outdoor seating area.

Our first time visiting this place. We ordered wings, bread and pork belly with scallop, all were really delicious. The ranch & butter was home made. The beginning food was made fast. Our main dishes were: choice chef fish, black & white and bacon cheddar cheeseburger. The main dishes took way longer to prepare, it was almost closing time at that. They messed up on the cheeseburger and made the patty charcoal. But they remade it within 10 minutes. Ordered some desert as well but it was decent. The waiter was kind, excellent service they provided. I wish the food was provided faster than waiting for an hour. The music was decent as well! Very lovely voice. They even have event dates on the back of their menu. The sits were slightly uncomfortable as well. I seen a few pets, very adorable, well behaved.

We stopped by this place around 11:30 AM on our way to Apple Hill and were directed to the lovely outdoor courtyard. It's dog-friendly, and they even brought our pup a bowl of water, which was a nice touch. My wife ordered the Caprese Salad, but she thought it was just okay. She felt it needed a little something extra--maybe more balsamic vinegar would've made a difference. I went for the bacon cheddar burger, along with potato leek soup and a side of French fries. The burger was massive and packed with flavor, plus you could tell the ingredients were fresh. The fries and soup also tasted homemade, which was great! The only hiccup was that the soup arrived a bit cold, but when I mentioned it to our server, she quickly took care of it. After checking in on Yelp, we got a complimentary chocolate bread pudding to share, and there was even enough left for us to take home--definitely a sweet bonus! The service was super friendly, and everything came out in a reasonable time. I really enjoyed my food and left feeling pleasantly stuffed (maybe too stuffed, haha!). If you're headed to Apple Hill, I definitely recommend stopping by this spot!

It was a beautiful day on the patio. Sunny with a light breeze in a lazy late afternoon. Easy going service, kind and attentive. Menu was adequate with your typical modern CA pricing. Food was a little better than average and most at the table were satisfied. One very aggravating detail prevails: A 20% mandatory gratuity for parties of six or more is NOT a gratuity, it is a SERVICE FEE. A Tip aka, gratuity, is a voluntary action that displays the appreciation for great food and or great service. When it is mandatory, it becomes a SERVICE FEE and is no longer voluntary. Our excellent server did NOT include this fee and left the "gratuity" up to us. We'll done Sir! I salute you.

This is a great option for anyone looking for a nicer date night or dinner with family. We showed up on a busy Saturday night with no reservation, and they were able to seat us with little wait. My husband and I were celebrating my birthday, so we splurged on wine, salads, and two incredible staple entrees; the lamb shank and the cioppino. I am a bit of a cioppino connoisseur... if cioppino is on the menu, I have to try it wherever we go. I was not expecting it when we got there, and so the $66 price tag really hit me in the gut. But, alas, a tradition is a tradition. I am only writing this review because I need to tell you, dear reader, that the $66 price tag is worth it - a HUGE portion of live Mediterranean mussels, Manila clams, snow crab legs, marinated prawns and North Atlantic lobster meat served in a classic tomato-fennel cioppino broth with grilled house-made Italian bread. Could easily be split between two. In all my cioppino tasting (and cooking) ventures, never have I had lobster included, and let me tell you, it was a game changer. If you love seafood, this is a great dish. Now, I will share that while the food was delicious, the service was a bit challenging on the night we went. Our server (bless his heart) was struggling to remember orders and deliver on our asks: when we ordered wine, he said "got it!" and then returned 10 minutes later asking if we wanted to order wine. 15 minutes after that, we ordered salads, and my husband kindly asked for an ingredient to be omitted (pickled onions), and he said "no problem!" - when the salads arrived, mine was wrong and his had those darned pickled onions. Afterwards our table wasn't revisited for awhile to pick up dishes or refresh water, etc. A bit bumpy for a nicer dinner, but overall the food was still fantastic and it was a lovely evening.

The Black and White was perfection.

We were in the area for wine tasting and asked one of the locals what her restaurant recommendations were. Her first reco was Smith Flat House! We were the first customers to arrive for lunch and we were prominently greeted by Mateo, their Australian shepherd dog. What a sweet and friendly dog! Since it was a nice day, we sat outside in the courtyard and Mateo stayed underneath our table the majority of the time. We were both craving pizza, so that's what we ordered. I got the small Smith Flat Combo for $16 - Pepperoni, Italian sausage, olives, caramelized onions, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, and house-made marinara. It came with approx 8 small slices. It's made in a brick often, and it was phenomenal! Hubby got the small Tuscan Roasted Garlic for $15 - Grilled chicken breast, red onion, imported Tuscan Pecorino, fresh herbs, mozzarella, and creamy roasted garlic sauce. He was also pleased with his pizza. Service was very friendly and efficient. The lady who served us was very sweet and our food came out rather fast. I would highly recommend this lovely place for lunch or dinner!

They do not, however they do something called a "fast pass" which basically means they put your name down and if you arrive while there's a wait, you get seated before anyone else who is waiting and does not have a fast pass. Kind of a different approach. I was glad that when we arrived, there wasn't anyone else waiting and there were tables available. Service was very attentive and friendly. He took our drink orders and allowed us some time to decide what to eat. Hubs and I both debated between multiple options- a lot sounded so good- but we both decided on the filet mignon. On the menu, it indicated that the dish comes with a béarnaise sauce; my husband really doesn't care for tarragon so he requested a substitution of their mushroom rosemary sauce instead (which is offered with their ribeye), and they happily obliged. The meal also included Yukon mashed potatoes and veggies. Our food was delivered soon after and I was pleasantly surprised that not only were our steaks still very warm but that they were cooked a perfect medium rare. The quality of the steaks was great, they were nice and thick. The veggies were, for the most part, overdone and a bit soggy, but that's not something that bothers me too much. The potatoes had good flavor but could have used much more milk/cream as they were pretty dry and firm. The experience was a good one and I would definitely return if we lived closer. I liked that their menu had a lot to offer- this is a good place for a family who has various tastes. Shout out to our server, Carver, who was great and provided very good service.

The staff were polite and on top of everything. I had the lasagna and it was hot from beginning to end. I felt it could use more pasta, but it was rich and satisfying. My wife said her Tuscany soup was "chocked full of goodness". She felt a bowl would've been too much, so the cup was perfect. She also really enjoyed the amount of cheese and artichoke in the beignets. The artichoke was present but not overwhelming, and the cheese was creamy and delicious. The meal came with a side of warm bread, and it paired perfectly with the side of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We look forward to many more meals here. We sat outside with a nice view of a small creek. The sound of the freeway can sometimes take away from the peaceful outside ambience, but it's nothing the restaurant can control. Other than the wait, the waiter and waitress were lovely and attentive through the meal. Our appetizer (asparagus & burrata, with prosciutto) did arrive quickly. It was tasty, though two of us found the burrata cheese quite salty, and the asparagus was a bit chewier than I expected. The Torchio e Granchio stole the night; the Dungeness crab meat was excellent and tasted fresh, and matched the cream sauce well (which I normally don't like to eat, but was great with the crab). The beef and pork meatballs were sizeable, which was appreciated; we found them a bit over-flavored however (particularly with oregano), and the sauce-to-meat proportions was a bit much (way too much sauce for the amount of pasta and meatballs for our taste). I found the Orecchiette con Salsiccia to be wwayyy more spicey than the Fregola e Gamberi. Though on the menu they both have one chili sign beside them, I could barely taste any spice in the Fegola e Gamberi, but in the end I picked out a small pile of chili pepper bits from the Orecchiette, which even after doing so my mouth still burned through the meal. They definitely need to add an extra chili next to this dish in the menu.
