    Bread and truffle butter which
    Jennifer T.

Came for date night on a Friday night. Per everyone's recommendation, I did make a reservation. The restaurant seats 24 people at a time so I can see why I needed one. Service was great and attentive to our needs. The server explained the menu and explained the daily special. We started off the with bread and truffle butter which was really flavorful and the truffle taste wasn't overpowering. We indulged a little and also got the mushroom bruschetta and I was so sad it was gone so quick. Would come back here for the mushroom bruschetta alone. I ordered the Cacio with grilled chicken and my bf got the vodka pasta. I enjoyed my cacio as it was seasoned well and I was definitely full. I thought there wasn't enough cheese from looking at it but I promise there was cheese in every bite. I would definitely get it come here again and try their other items.

The food was amazing...and they are not afraid to use cream. Being Asian...it's a risk, but it was delicious. The service was excellent. The ambiance was quaint, not crowded...intimate for sure. They even have personal blankets if you choose to eat on the patio. We went for our anni...and the short rib on polenta was amazing and sizeable. The fettuccine was delicious and I had to try the house made italian sausage with it. For me the sausage was a lot for the dish, but I was a happy camper overall. The cream of tomato with truffle is heavenly too. And we found out that you can email days in advance to order it in a larger portion. Plus the wine and bellini pairing was perfect. Let's go again.

Cute litte place, very limited seating and that's basically why they are pretty much by reservations only. Food was excellent, service was great. We were a little disappointed in their dessert menu. Cost is on the little higher side. Private parking lot. Not for huge parties. Great for date night.

Came here for dinner Friday night and scheduled a reservation ahead of time. This place is amazing and something I didn't think you can find in Sacramento. The staff were very friendly and really knew the food. They were helpful in helping us select an appetizer, dinner, and a wine. This place is perfect for date night or having wine with a small group. The restaurant is a bit small so I wouldn't come here with more than 4 people.

I usually only go out in downtown and midtown so I never know about this place until my friend took me. First of all it's in a strip mall next to a Mexican restaurant with Latin music, patio seating is next to the parking lot, but they put a blind, heat lamp, a blanket on each chair and made it cozy. The service was great, truffle butter was delicious (I love truffle everything), beets salad was delicious too but my friend and I share the salad so it became a bite size. I said "Can I have cacio e Pepe with shrimp", but I was correct for "prawns", but the dish came and it was "shrimp". The pasta was cooked perfectly, a bit chewy not soggy, just the way I like, so was the "shrimp". Everything was delicious but I gave 4 stars because $14 for 5 added shrimps is kinda ridiculous...

Amazing dining experience. Sat at the counter and got to chat with the owners about the history of Cacio, plus wine pairings and dessert recommendations. I already knew what I was having for dinner. It was their signature dish Cacio e Pepe. It did not disappoint. That said the "adult Mac and Cheese" stole the show! Best I've ever had . Highly recommend make sure to call ahead and make reservations as they fill up fast.

Oh gosh, I just realized I haven't written a review of one of my all-time favorite restaurants! My husband and I have had the fortune of visiting Cacio a handful of times now. It's a go-to recommendation to friends and family, as well as a special place for us to celebrate occasions or just a nice date night. While they do have some walk-in availability, we have always made reservations. The space itself is very intimate, which is one of the things we love. Now for the food! YUM-MY. Every single thing we have ordered has been an absolute hit. Some items on their menus are constants, like their namesake cacio e pepe, but they also have seasonal items and nightly specials. Again, we have really enjoyed everything they whip up! The service is also so kind, warm, and welcoming. We feel like we're having dinner at a friend's place, and you get the strong sense of community and family here. What a gem in the Pocket area. We love it!

What a lovely experience! The food was amazing. The pasta was fresh and delectable. We loved the vibe at lunchtime, which was relaxing and intimate. We're definitely going to come back someday.

Penne alla Vodka (with pancetta added but it still would have been spectacular as displayed on the menu which is vegetarian)

this little place has high quality food & by far the standout item for us was the Penne alla Vodka =) everything we ordered was delicious but that Penne alla Vodka was something else!!!!!

A GEM in the Pocket area! FOOD: I absolutely love the menu here. There are just enough items and you know they are all made to perfection. I always get the Cacio de Pepe pasta and a mixed greens salad! DELICIOUS and fresh. I love the hallow noodles on the pasta and the yellow raisins added to the salad. SERVICE: The service and the vibe here are lovely. You can tell the owners take great pride in their restaurant. Katie (owner and typically our waiter) is always so pleasant and personable. AMBIANCE: So cute and cozy! This is the perfect place to meet a friend or go on a lunch date without the kids. Hehe Overall, will I be back? Oh yes! This is in our rotation. You must visit!!

Chef's Special (something something Tuna; rating 1000/10)

What can I say without craving Cacio again? Let me start off by saying, service is always pleasing, warm and delightful. My partner and I have been coming to Cacio AT LEAST once a month to try a new item on their menu. I make it my priority to try one Chef's special when we go because they're always delectable! Our go-to items are definitely their Ciabatta bread with truffle butter and Cacio board with charcuterie (the cheeses just melt in your mouth!) we've tried their Cacio e Pepe and their seasonal soups. When I say EVERYTHING we've tried have met our expectations.... Trust me mama, it has. The only picture I've taken is the Chef's special with Tuna (10000/10), which you can view in this review. Please try Cacio and don't be afraid to try the Chef's special!

Ambiance: Fabulous hidden secret in Pocket Area that is small business owned by husband and wife team. They maximize all 900 sqft with efficiency and decorate uptown wine bar from a small outdoor eating, counter and tables. MUST have a reservation which open up in the afternoon. You can try to get in without but super tough. Food: 10/10 Roasted Beet Salad- fresh and light, 10/10 Cacio pasta with grilled shrimp. This is how it is made! Peppery and shrimp grilled to perfection. 10/10 Roasted duck breast special- tender, acid with the yuzu sauce and faro and greens salad. 10/10 fresh white truffle butter with fresh ciabatta bread as a MUST.. earthy and salty goodness on hot bread. Service: Stellar Service by the owners wife and a full staff of 4. Attentive and great recommendations. Only in a small business are you going to offer 4 specials for the evening. Have a special occasion or just because; make your reservation at Cacio and support this lovely small business. Well worth it!

Would definitely recommend trying to make a reservation if possible. One time my friend and I tried to attempt a walk in for dinner and we were turned away because they were so booked. Luckily on a second try, we were able to snag a spot for lunch and were very pleased with our experience! Cacio serves up delicious home-style Italian in large portions! I had to try the namesake dish, cacio e pepe and it was very delightful. The add on of chicken breast surprisingly stole the show for me as it was so flavorful and moist.

    Ask the Community - Cacio

Are reservations needed all the time or just certain days/times?

Not all the time. But if you don't make reservations you may have to wait. As there is only so much seating

Do you use imported Italian flour for your pasta?

Yes, when I make fresh pasta, I use an imported flour. And, all of the dry pasta used is also imported and is made with flour and water only.

What are your gluten free options for a celiac?

While we do not have gluten free pastas, kitchen is just to small, we do have several other options. We have an assortment of salads, typically a risotto, and most of our specials are gluten free, or options to make them gluten free.

Do you make fresh pasta in-house?

We have recently begun making ravioli, tortellini and gnocchi in house. Egg pasta will be coming very soon.

What is the corkage fees? Thanks! :)

Our policies are posted on our website, but no corkage for bottle 1, and after that corkage is waived per bottle purchased.

Do you have any gluten free options?

While we do not have any gluten free pasta dishes, because of lack of kitchen space, we do have other gluten free options.

Does this restaurant offer a veal scallopini dish for either lunch or dinner?

No, we currently do not have a veal scallopini dish. We may run a similar style item as a special, but probably not as a menu item.

My wife and I went for valentines dinner here, and we were both blown away with every dish both in taste and preparation, one of the few places I would say serves almost too much food. The complimentary bread was light and fluffy and was more than just some lame bread. Our apps were the bruschetta and the fried ravioli. The bruschetta comes out on fresh toasted bread, just enough to give it a crunch but still with a soft center- the tomatoes tasted fresh and there is also some toasted cheese on the bottom and some garlic on top, definitely sets the bar for a good bruschetta. The fried ravioli were huge and completely filled with cheese, the fry was perfectly crispy and every bite was better than the last- the highlight though might have been the marinara it came with, which honestly might have been one of the best marinaras I've had at a restaurant, just super, super flavorful. Apps definitely get a 5/5 For our entrees I got the chicken parm and she got the spaghetti. I've said before in my reviews that I'm a bit of a protein snob and I love my extra protein, but without even asking the protein on each dish was more than enough, and the dishes themselves were enormous. My chicken was juicy, crispy, and super well seasoned. Her spaghetti has so much sausage in it, and it was so good- even the noodles themselves had a handmade bite to them. Just a fantastic 5/5 experience for both dishes. My only warning is to be careful of the orange drizzle, it's very spicy! Our service was both fun and polite, I unfortunately did not remember our servers name but he made it fun and helped answer all of our questions. If you are looking for Italian in this area please give this restaurant your business, everything about it is perfect.

But every time I visit Paesanos I get both of those things. On my most recent visit to the restaurant, I had the pleasure of being served by Clemens. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and helped me find the perfect meal(Fettucine Arrositi) to fit my current dietary restrictions. He also helped my grandma find something on the menu that wouldn't be too carb heavy since she is diabetic. He was pleasant all around, he was patient with my grandma all night and made me feel like he truly valued our time and didn't rush us. He is everything you want in a server-kind,direct,knowledgeable, and dependable. I would come back any time just to get customer service like that. Now on to the food, I had the Fettucine Arrositi which I believe is their signature dish. I have had it before but this time it was especially delicious. The sauce has a flavor like no other pasta I've ever had it's rich but not too rich creamy but not too creamy and the thing that sets it apart from other creamy pastas is the subtle Cajun flavor. It tastes a bit like old bay and Tabasco to me with some other amazing things in it I'm sure but it was delicious 9/10 My grandma likes to order a lot of things for the table because she never got to have that so she ordered a bunch of things for herself to try and for me to finish. We had the meatballs and they were fantastic but she felt they were too big haha 9/10. Then we had the calamari which was my favorite of the appetizers we ordered. I'm hoping next time to try the polenta fries. Then for her main course my grandma had the wedge salad which she loved but she did mention she wished it had lots more bacon and I can't blame because I too always want more bacon on things. All in all it was a great experience and I will be back very soon.

The restaurant has really cool photos of both famous and non‑famous people on the walls, plus a small bar near the entrance where you can grab a drink or some food. We started with the B&B (Brussels and Bacon) and the Cajun Spicy Fries. The Brussels sprouts were well done with great flavor from the drizzle. The Cajun fries were cooked nicely and paired well with the aioli. For our mains, we ordered the shrimp linguine and the Forestale Pizza. The shrimp linguine had a light, tasty sauce, though I wish the shrimp came without the tails. The Forestale Pizza was excellent--traditional Neapolitan style, with caramelized onions adding a nice sweetness that balanced the savory goat cheese. Really good pizza. We finished with the Gelato Sandwich. We were hoping for a bit more from this one; the cookies were extremely sweet, though the gelato itself was tasty. I'd probably skip this dessert next time. We got a couple lemoncellos to finish off the experience. It was a bit sweet for our taste, but definitely strong.

He was friendly, energetic, and super transparent about what they were out of since everything is made fresh. He also did a great job explaining the dishes and cocktails, which we appreciated. Our group was pretty easygoing, and overall the experience felt fun and relaxed. The food came out looking (and tasting) amazing across the board. I ordered the gluten-free hot honey pizza, and it was a standout--perfect crust, nice balance of sweet and heat, and loaded with cheese, pepperoni, and sausage. Definitely a win. One of my friends also ordered gluten-free and tried the pesto chicken pizza. Unfortunately, that one missed the mark--the chicken was overcooked, the pesto flavor was off, and the pizza itself was a bit bland. However, when she mentioned it, the server immediately made it right by remaking her pizza and not charging for it, which we really appreciated. The space itself has a great vibe--cute aesthetics and it sounds like they host events during the week like DJs and art nights, which is a fun touch. Parking can be a little tricky since it's on a busy intersection, but manageable. Overall, a really solid experience, especially considering our group size and no reservation. I'd definitely come back and would love to see gluten-free pasta options added in the future!

My teen had the spaghetti with marinara and meatballs on the side and finished the entire plate, which says everything. I told our waiter Sean to surprise me and he brought out the lobster ravioli and I was not mad about that at all. It was so good. My husband ordered the carbonara with shrimp and that was also a hit. The bread came out warm and fresh, but just a heads up the dipping sauce was pretty spicy. Our palates was definitely feeling it, so we ended up switching to balsamic and olive oil instead. Even the restrooms had things to look at, including old Land Park newspapers, which just adds to how much character this place has. Helpful tip: If you're not sure what to order, let your server guide you. Ours nailed it. I had actually been here years ago before the renovations, so coming back and seeing it now was really special. It still has that history, just updated in the best way.

We really wanted to love this place. My husband is a huge fan of Czech beers and we both love Czech…read morefood. And it's a small local establishment, so we were glad to support it. We were a little let down. PROS: *Czech dark lager was delicious, and at $8.50 per half litre, cheap. *There were a few authentic Czech offerings on the menu *Interior was welcoming and the decor cool and interesting. *Tomato Bisque soup was tasty CONS: *Waitress was good-natured, but very inexperienced. She could not explain the main dishes at all. Although we were one of only 2 occupied tables, she didn't take our drink order until I walked over to where she was chatting loudly with her coworker and asked her. To her credit, she was friendly and cheerful. *Duck was tough and dry *Pizza was terrible. When it first came to the table, the crust was literally white from undercooking, even though we had asked for a well-done crust after reading some reviews. We asked it be browned more. It came out with a bit more color, but without flavor. The crust was doughy and mushy throughout the middle, dry and cracked near the ends, and tough as leather on the bottom. We had trouble sawing through it with a steak knife! IN BRIEF: Go for the Czech beer; it's delicious and inexpensive.

Another great night at Il Forniao for a quick bite before the movies…read more A few specials going on at Il Forniao. Tonight, Monday nights is happy hour all day long, so we ordered the calamari and pizza. It's the best calamari I've had, from anywhere! I also ordered the Sogliola Alla Grecca ( filet of sole) from the specials menu, and it was excellent. The spumoni is the best I've ever had as well. We were able to dine within the two hour parking validation period, without having to pay any additional fees.

I hosted my birthday dinner here with 13 of my closest friends, and it was an amazing experience…read more We did have to wait a little for our reservation, but they were very accommodating and even allowed us to stay an extra hour since some of my friends arrived late. We booked the Bologna room, and it fit everyone comfortably. I brought a speaker to play music, but we had to keep it low since the walls are thin. They don't provide music unless you pay to use their sound system or projector, which I chose not to do since the dinner itself was already a big expense. The host was very kind, and while they can be a bit strict with customizations, it's understandable given the size of our party. By the end of the night, we were having great conversations with the manager, bartender, and staff, and it honestly felt like we were family. They did a great job staying attentive to a large group, and the food was amazing. I had the steak, which was really good, and also ordered a Shirley Temple that was perfectly balanced not too sweet and not watered down. They were also helpful in guiding guests and assisting with parking, which I believe is covered for up to two hours, with any additional time paid afterward. The restaurant is connected to a hotel, which made everything convenient. Overall, I would definitely host another event here. Next time, I might switch up the menu or consider using their sound system or projector. I wasn't trying to overspend, but still wanted a quality experience, and I think it was reasonably priced for the number of people and amount of food we had.
