Cacio is a little gem of a neighborhood Italian restaurant, and it literally is little, seating maybe 15-20 people inside. They do have outdoor seating which is great with warmer weather. The food is always outstanding and portions are good. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the dishes but Cacio e Pepe is the quintessential dish that bears their name. I've also tried the Orecchiette con Salsiccia with the calabrian chiles and it was really nice with the added spicy heat. The Pulpo e Patate (braised octopus) was also really awesome especially for seafood lovers. My wife tried the roasted beet salad and she liked it. For dessert the chocolate ganache with toast is always a great way to finish your meal. Service is always really good and it's nice to see the owner come out and say hi. The place is super popular, so make sure you plan ahead and make a reservation. read more

This cozy Italian restaurant in the Pocket is adorable and the food/wine is outstanding. My partner made a reservation here as a surprise a few months back after reading about an article in Sacramento magazine (RIP) about their Busiate Trapanese Pesto pasta dish. The menu changes seasonally with a focus on local, fresh ingredients. A cute couple run the joint and they do a fabulous job. Can't wait for my next visit. We kept our dinner light as we had other plans immediately after. Here's what we ordered, split: -Tomato Salad $12 - local heirloom tomatoes, local stonefruit, cress, mozzarella, seka hills olive oil, saba, maldon salt. We added prosciutto $3. Super fresh ingredients, perfect amount of salt/olive oil - yum. -Busiate Trapanese Pesto (veg) $22 - heirloom tomato pesto with basil, mint, garlic, olive oil, almonds, finished with parmigiano reggiano cheese. Busiate pasta are twisted curls that reminded me of an old corded wall telephone (dating myself a bit). The Trapanese pesto consists of tomatoes in addition to basil and almonds, instead of pine nuts. This was a really unique dish that I highly recommend trying if you see it on the menu. -bottle of Zenato Alanera Rosso $30. Delicious and very reasonably priced. This a great place for some pasta! Everything is made fresh and cooked with perfection. The flavors are unique and delightful. The menu items do change from time to time, but some entrees are kept on the menu. I have come on two different occasions. I tried two different dishes with appetizers and soups. I've tried the Norcina and the vegetarian pasta. Both were excellent. I love there bruschetta, too. On both occasions the bruschetta were different ingredients. They changed up that item on the menu. We made a reservation here for a Friday night since I heard it can get super busy, upon arrival I realized it is pretty small but they have indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. I tried the guava bellini, daily soup (tomato and truffle), meatballs, and penne alla vodka. The soup and meatballs were really good I highly recommend both although the soup available changes. Wanted to try some place new and saw the reviews of this place. I called to make a reservation for dinner. He said he had a spot open for the patio outside but I don't like eating outside. He said he could hold a spot at the counter for 20 minutes. I knew it was cutting it close but my wife was not even home from work yet. I asked him to do what he could. We arrived and we were able to sit at the counter. The place is a smaller restaurant with maybe 7 tables inside and the counter. There were three tables outside. I think they love wine because a lot of the decor is wine related. Not a full bar here. We sat at the counter in regular seats. They have bar seats which are much taller. The chef's wife attended to us. She was so nice and gave us some suggestions for dinner. We both started off with the soup of the day , A bean and white corn chowder. It was really creamy and yummy. We got the tomato bruschetta which took a bit to get since they made it after we ordered. The bread was so good and covered in truffle butter. Wow it is worth getting. I wanted more. You get 4 pieces. I could of eaten a loaf of this stuff. She suggested the spaghetti with meatballs added. The pasta tasted scratch made but I didn't confirm. Meatballs had great flavor. My wife got the pasta alla Norcina which she had said was one of the places favorites. It was pasta with house made sausage and mushrooms. It was even better than my meal. I was jealous. I asked for bread when the spaghetti came out. I just needed some. It came with truffle butter and hers. Hit the spot. We were stuffed and had to get doggie bags. Came here for dinner to celebrate my birthday and I'm glad I made a reservation. There were manny people coming and going and seating seemed limited. They do have an outside patio with a few tables which is where we sat, and it was nice. Their menu changes seasonally, which I personally enjoy, so some of the items I saw on other yelpers reviews weren't on the menu this time. However, my two favorite dishes were the cacio e pepe and the torchio pasta with lobster (I forgot to take a picture because it was so good). The appetizers were also delicious, best meatballs I've ever had. The dessert was crispy bread with a chocolate ganache drizzled with olive oil and sea salt and it was surprisingly delicious. I will do nothing but rave about Cacio. Everything we ordered was 5 stars! Their menu is simple which in my opinion is best and every dish is well thought out and executed. The meatballs (kisses fingers!) are excellent, homemade goodness simmered in fresh marinara. My favorite app was the bruschetta, which is grilled and topped with burrata and heirloom tomato. This restaurant is something you would expect to find in the Bay Area and is truly a hidden gem. I've been here several times and each time, the experience has been pleasant and positive. I will elaborate on the most recent experience because it's fresh on my mind: We had reserved a table in their outdoor section because there was no availability indoors during the time slot we needed. On the day of our reservation, the weather was quite cold and I was worried about the whether their heaters would be powerful enough. I received a call from a lady in the afternoon asking if we'd like to sit inside at the bar table instead of outside. I took the offer because I get cold very easily. When we got to the restaurant, they let us in 15 minutes earlier than our reservation time. We started off with an order of their Ciabatta Bread & Truffle Butter. When the appetizer arrived, I felt like the bread was colder than the other times I had ordered it so I asked the lady server if she could warm up the bread for us. She said " no problem. If you can wait 12 minutes then I will get you bread fresh from the oven." After some time passed, the male server gave us bread fresh from the oven with new butter. It was so warm and scrumptious! While we were eating that the lady server came back and gave us another fresh bread and butter on the house. I'm not sure if it was a mistake or because they felt sorry? for the wait time of the bread but the 3 of us happily finished all the bread and butter. We ended up ordering three pastas. The specific names are in the photos and captions below. Everything was delicious and they got our order request correct. My friend asked for less spicy and they remembered to do that. I think they make their own pasta because it just tastes so authentic and organic. I really feel like I'm eating in Italy. Their ingredients seem fresh and high quality as well. Their portion sizes are generous while the cost is not overly expensive. Okay so this place is very cute and the staff went above and beyond they were very nice and complimentary...buttttt I do have to say that the pricing and the quality don't really add up to much haha. The bread and butter was okay, the butter was very aromatic and herby and not really my type of taste and you have to pay for it extra around 6 dollars. The Cesar salad was a very small portion and could have tasted a bit better for 12 dollars as well there's a lot of parm on top too. I ordered the linguini and it came with plenty of clams and sauce but I just feel like it was something I could have made at home ...overall you can tell it's a mom and Popop shop doing there best to provide an exclusive feeling date experience which is nice! Been wanting to come here for a while so I came at lunch, I go to Vientos all the time and have been curios about Cacio. I ordered the Bucatani all'Amatriciana made with simmered sauce of guanciale, onion, tomato and garlic, pecorino Romano cheese. The prep cook informed me that the guanciale sauce has simmered pork cheeks, the fat renders and provides a nice flavor. The chef pleasantly brought out my dish, plating very nice, bucatini cooked perfectly, al dente. The sauce was very good, but a bit bland next time I may ask if I can get some chili flakes to spice it up. I only drink alcohol with dinner so I can't speak to that, the water was cold and filtered which is a plus for me. This is a very small restaurant, only seats about 30, half of that at the counter. I am old school and like sitting at the counter. This would be a great place to take a date to impress, small and intimate. read more

My son took me here for dinner last night after him and his fiancé had been RAVING about it for months. They eat here at least once a month and they are considered "regulars". I have celiac and while the menu isn't gf friendly, when he made the reservation he let them know that I was gluten free. When we showed up, wouldn't ya know it, the daily special was gluten free! We shared a Cesar salad, I had the pork loin with risotto and it was AMAZING. I have never orders a pork loin in my life because they are usually dry but this was a 10/10. It's a small place, but cute inside. They have a small patio but I would recommend reservations even if it's a party of two. This is a small restaurant so reservations are recommended and appreciated. Our server enthusiastically recommended dishes and wines for us. We started with sharing their pole bean salad. This was wonderfully cool and refreshing on a warm evening with very fresh beans, cucumbers, mint and a light dressing. We followed this with shishito peppers. These were some of the biggest shishitos we've ever seen. They were cooked perfectly and served with a dry powdered ricotta cheese. This alone would have been great, but it was all served atop creamed corn. Yum!!! My partner loved the risotto. This was cooked with cheese, pancetta and grilled peaches. I loved the orecchiette pasta. This was prepared perfectly al dente with broccoli, rabe, Italian sausage and chili. This was spicy but delicious. We accompanied our meal with a recommended Italian red blend that paired very well with the food. Desert was gelato. Vanilla bean, salted caramel, cherry (amarena) and strawberry. The meals were disappointing, not great or memorable and not like any Italian food we'd ever had. Service was attentive; the server was cordial and informative. After a so-so salad, we waited over 20 minutes for our entrees to arrive. When we asked the owner about the delay, she said we were 'next' and explained that there was only one person cooking for the 30 seats. We sat outside with a limited view of the parking lot. Lap blankets and space heaters were available to ward off the evening chill. Making a reservation was intimidating because of the caution of a charge for a no-show, or even being 10 minutes late. I decided to try this place out with my friend Michelle L. upon her recommendation and her knowing Italian food is my ultimate favorite. We both ordered the peach bellini cocktail which, was yummy. For appetizers we 1st shared the Cacio board and added the charcuterie for an additional cost. The charcuterie was worth adding and everything on the board was delicious. We also shared the mac and cheese. It was so creamy and delicious, not too sharp or too bland cheese wise, just right. Michelle had the Cacio e pepe for her entree and I ordered the Strozapretti con spinache e Prosciutto or strozapretti pasta with spinach and prosciutto. It was simple and didn't have a sauce. It just had these ingredients and goat cheese but, was delicious because of the quality of the ingredients. For dessert I had a scoop of the cherry chip gelato and a scoop of the bourbon pecan praline, man very good and creamy gelato. They were out of the salted caramel, but that's ok because the cherry chip was a great substitute. The bourbon pecan praline was my favorite of the 2. The service was great here as well, timely, our server was funny and personable also. I tried the blood orange Italian soda which, was sweet and good. I honestly don't know how I missed this gem since it is literally a few doors away from the gym I frequent daily Lol. I guess I just don't crave Italian very often. This cozy lil spot has bar, inside and covered patio seating in small quantities of each. Reservations are highly recommended and there is a pretty severe no show fee of $25 PP without 24 hour notice. I loved their attention to detail with cute table settings which included an air purifier on each table. We tried the octopus squid ink salad, grilled asparagus, crostini with tapenades and the bucatini with meatballs. Throw in a raspberry Bellini to wash it down as well. We enjoyed everything and my only complaint was my half of the bucatini needed more sauce. We didn't get a chance at desert as we ran late and our table was booked to another party maybe next time :(. Finally came in to Cacio as they are re-opened for dine-in (reservations made in advance, 24-hour cancellation policy and credit card required), 6:45PM seating, table for 2. When you arrive, ring the button. Tables held for 10mins if late, 1:45 seating maximum for dinner. Got an indoor table (cozy), they also have a small covered patio with heat lamps as well which must be nice when it gets warmer. Bar seating first-come/walk-ins. Air purifier on the table adjacent to ours. Didn't catch the name of the other lady, but the owner Katie was the one who primarily was helping us, great, great service. Unfortunately, they were out of the meatballs, carrot salad, octopus salad, and hummus. I believe the menu changes seasonally. On this particular evening I stuck to vegetarian options (#AshTag2022), although shrimp is a protein option, and the special was salmon (market price), the soup was a parsnip truffle. I started with a house bellini (peach flavor, prosecco), and we shared the Cacio Board (I just skipped the prosciutto and salami) which had marcona almonds, three cheeses, grilled bread and sweet spread (honey?) as well an order of the Mac & Cheese which had fontina, parmigiano reggiano and mozzarella (not the Adult Mac which has pancetta). For my main, I got their signature namesake dish, the Cacio e Pepe: bucatini pasta (hollow spaghetti), cracked black pepper, pecorino cheese, parsley. I've had this once before but as a takeout order, this was great. I couldn't finish it all in one sitting, but was a delicious next-day lunch. Sonia C. got the Strozzapretti con Spinaci e Prosciutto: strozzapretti pasta (the strangler), baby spinach, goat cheese, prosciutto. Also shared a bottle of aranciata rossa (blood orange) Italian soda. For dessert, they had one tiramisu left, apple something, chocolate ganache, gelato or sorbet. Sonia got a long shot (1.5 shots) espresso, and two scoops gelato. They were out of salted caramel gelato, but they did have a bourbon butter pecan, black cherry chip, or coconut. It's one of the few dishes that I have not experienced in Europe, but being able to experience it and enjoy it at home, definitely brings back European memories. With good reason - this is a little gem, tucked in a strip mall, and it's constantly booked solid by folks in the know. The space is cozy, with cute decor. And, unlike midtown, parking is readily available. But don't despair, because with persistence and flexibility, you can and should find a time that works with your schedule. We snuck in with a late reservation for lunch and really enjoyed our counter seat with a view of all the action. But you're here for insights about the food, so here's our review, based on today and past visits. We've never once been disappointed by our meals, from soups to salads to their delectable pasta choices.
