If you're heading to Piatti with a group, skip the individual entrees and go full family style. It's the definitive way to experience the menu. We had a reservation and waited a few minutes longer than expected, a small grievance quickly forgotten once they sat us near the kitchen with a sightline to the live music, which was actually good. Meatballs, lemon pizza, and caesar salad to start. The caesar has been better elsewhere, but the other two were excellent. The wood fired pork chop, saffron spaghetti, and radiatore that followed were all really good. We finished with the strawberry bread pudding and aperitifs, staying much longer than we needed to. The room feels like a place people return to, filled with neighborhood regulars, which is always a good sign. But the real story is Claudia, our server. Everything arrived exactly when it should, every question was answered before we finished asking it, and nobody at the table wanted for anything all night. This was my first time coming to Piatti in Sacramento. I previously dined at a location in the Bay Area, which was probably over 10 years ago. Safe to say I was just as impressed with the quality of food and service the 2nd time around. I arrived a bit earlier than my party, so I sat at the bar and ordered a glass of bubbly. The bartender was very friendly and attentive until I was ready to be seated. I ordered the Mafaldine Carbonara ($29), which was flavorful and perfectly portioned. I love the fact that their pasta is homemade... you can definitely taste the difference. Little did I know that they had their own private label wine, so I had to order a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. Lastly handmade pasta. I'm sold on all three. My favorite dish was their pork chops. Cooked medium with a delious crust. The pollenta added a punch of flavor and made this dish craveable for our next trip here. The persimmon Caprese was interesting. It was deinfirely sweet and savory. I love the original version but this one was nice surprise. The restaurant itself is roomy enough and has a bar that you can hang out as well. The seating was comfortable and very nice. We stopped by here on the way back from Apple hill and were in dire need of food so we ordered quite a bit. The atmosphere was nice, especially since it was a warm, but not too warm night, so we could sit on the patio outside. The bread from the appetizer "bread service" was simple but delicious. The bread was cooked well and soft, not chewy or too hard. The dipping oil had garlic and was lighter and more flavorful than typical dipping oils. We really enjoyed it. The arugula salad was nice. The Nantes carrots were truly a vegetable blend. It did mention multiple veggies, but I would've thought it was primarily carrots the way it was listed. The carrots also tasted the best so I wish there was more. It was lukewarm which was also odd. The margarita pizza was okay. Not bad at all, but nothing too special. The impossible lasagna was great. As a vegetarian we are lucky to get one dish on the menu, but a full dish instead of just an afterthought feels like such a victory. This is honestly what drove us to pick this restaurant over any other place. The potato gnocchi was also delicious. The biggest flavor bomb was the pureed butternut squash with pomegranate seeds at the bottom. I wish there was twice the amount, it was truly the best part. The waiters were not the kindest or fastest which also gave a weird vibe at times, but overall the food was pretty decent, and there were multiple options for me to eat which I appreciated. I was invited to a special event and enjoyed an excellent and filling meal at this elegant little jewel located in the Pavilions. Although the parking can be kind of sparse, I was able to find a convenient location. Our meal included a soup or salad, and I chose the Caesar salad, and it was delicious. For our main course I ordered the roasted chicken, which was perfectly seasoned and was more than I could eat. The meal ended with a delicious lemon tart, which brought me back to my childhood with each bite. It reminded me of my grandmother's lemon meringue pie, and I had to take it home because I had so much food, which I took home with me. Piatti is quickly becoming one of my go-to restaurants whenever I'm in Sacramento! I've been twice now, and both visits left a lasting impression. We came for a couples date night on a Saturday around 7 PM with a reservation. We were seated right away and offered bread with oil. At first, we thought it was complimentary, but later saw it was an added charge--something to keep in mind. Our main waitress was warm and attentive, checking in often. Some of the additional servers were a bit forgetful (like when we asked for new utensils or a bread refill), while others were incredibly observant and stepped in exactly when we needed them. The food did take about an hour to arrive, but given it was a busy weekend dinner rush, we expected a more relaxed pace. This definitely felt like a "slow down and savor" type of dining experience. As for the food, I tried the bucatini on my first visit and loved it, though I was told the menu had changed recently. This time, I ordered the spaghetti with prawns--while the prawns were tender and well-prepared, the bell pepper flavor gave it a bit of a chow mein vibe. The carbonara was tasty but leaned heavier on peas than pork, which threw off the balance a little. The ravioli, on the other hand, was excellent with its bright lemon flavor, though we wished the portion included a couple more pieces for the price. Drinks were solid all around, and our table was happy with the cocktails and sangria. Overall, Piatti is a beautiful spot for date nights, birthdays, family dinners, or even work gatherings. So good I didn't get any pictures!! I'm an in-home caregiver and was given a gift card for Piatti for Christmas! Hubs and I made an early dinner reservation and enjoyed every minute! From the moment we walked through the door (which was held open by one of the staff who was arriving for her shift) we were treated with kindness and appreciation! Anthony was our server and he was exceptional! Just the right amount of checking in during our meal and the timing of everything was perfect! We started with cocktails - the Paper Plane for me and the old-fashioned for hubs. Both were delish. We had the meatballs and bread with dip to start! The sauce on the meatballs was deliciously tangy! Next up we split a Caesar Salad. If you like anchovies you are in luck! We asked for them, thinking maybe there would be one, but there were 5 big pieces on each plate - too much for us, but nice to know they don't skimp! I really appreciated that they allowed me to try a couple of wines before I decided which one would be my choice! My original choice would not have been as good as the one I landed on. I have been to here twice and both were for special events so we had private rooms. The service is amazing and attentive. The food is delicious and the drinks were flowing. I love that they leave a bottle of water on the table for quick refills. I had the Arugula salad and Mary's Half Chicken. I love having fruit and cheese in a salad and the vinaigrette dressing was bright and light. Mary's chicken was cooked to perfection. The skin was crispy and the meat was soooo tender and juicy. The croutons and cherries were a nice twist. For private events this place is fantastic. My husband and I attempted to eat here. We went in around 7:45pm. We were sat down and given utensils, menus and empty glasses. It was busy but after 15 minutes not one waiter or waitress had checked in with us. There were waiters, waitresses, servers, and hostests walking all around us helping other tables. After 15 minutes of sitting there and having no one checking in or even saying hello, we left the restaurant. He walked over to Mikuni and within an hour, we'd had appetizers, mains, drinks and dessert and the check. The food at Piatti's looked and smelled fantastic, the atmosphere was very nice too. Unfortunately, the lack of service turned us away. There is no excuse for not even checking in on a table to say something like, "be right with you." read more

The first time I went to Piatti about two years ago I was unimpressed and bummed about the prices. I didn't have much desire to come back. However, I had an inkling more recently that I should try again. And I am glad I did. The ravioli is *chefs kiss*. Like extremely crave-able with perfectly balanced flavors and tender pasta. The lemon is subtle but also the star of the dish. The cream isn't overpowering or too heavy. It's beautifully crafted. And the nociono old fashion was incredible!! While I still don't love the prices - $28 for 6 ravioli, the flavor will have me coming back. I also loved the atmosphere. We were seated indoor and the place has a friendly, family yet upscale and put together vibe. Our server was patient and competent. The staff could not have been more responsive and accommodating. My sister worked with Cody regarding the planning. When we arrived, the private dining room looked elegant and welcoming. Piatti is a well known upscale restaurant in Sacramento and for good reason. They make their pasta fresh and only use the best ingredients. You have to pay more but it's worth it. We have frequented here on several occasions and they do an excellent job with service & food. One time we were here at the same time as the Governor was. Our latest visit was for dinner yesterday. Yup on a Monday! We met our best friends here. Actually we originally had plans to dine at a former place nearby but at that place their bar tables inside were all taken bc of a garden party so we had sat down for ten minutes at a booth clearly in the back so we left bc no one came to serve us which was extremely rude! At Piatti's our waiter Brandon acknowledged us right away & served us water with an extra flask. Here you receive plenty of food that you don't leave the restaurant hungry. In fact our food arrived within minutes of our order & they even split my chopped salad with a raspberry vinaigrette for my wife & me. My wife's frito misto was heavenly & so much food in that one dish that she could have shared it with me. Her aioli was quite spicy too yet tasty! Thank goodness for the water! We also had a good sized plate of delicious brussel sprouts & delish meatballs too that I think my wife over ordered food wise! That's ok as we don't mind leftovers. Our bestie friend ordered the cioppino & it wasn't soupy like most places. In fact my wife wants to order that the next time we come here! Lizz was hangry & raving about the chunky salmon pieces. Woohoo! It looked scrumptious & mouthwatering! Truthfully, this would be a 4.5. We enjoyed our first experience here and both said we'd come again. There is plenty of seating which makes it great for celebrations ans large groups. Satisfying meals, tasty cocktails, and a free dessert (of your CHOICE) on your birthday. Lovely! We had the fried Brussel sprouts (outstanding!), saffron pasta (so good and spicy!), buccatini with clams (good!), kids cheese pizza (huge!), and four cocktails. The kids menu comes with an included Gelato dessert and hubby got a free dessert of his choosing. We ordered the tiramisu (delicious!) and affogato (spectacular!) to share. The place was busy but not loud to where you couldn't have a conversation.Our server Ashley started us water and asked if we were celebrating an event. Told her we were celebrating my daughter's 22nd birthday. She took our drink order and I asked about the IPAs. She gave us a sample of the beer which doesn't often happen at restaurants. My daughter ordered a special nonalcoholic drink - Cucumber Cooler, which she did not enjoy. Ashley took it away and actually did not charge us for the drink. This again does not often happen at restaurants nowadays. Ashley took our food order of portobello mushroom pizza, potato gnocchi, shrimp soffritto and lasagna. All entrees were amazingly delicious. We celebrated my good friend's birthday and it was a lovely dinner. Piatti is tucked inside of the Pavilions Shopping Center. I love this mall with some of my favorite shops like Athleta and Williams Sonoma. It's charming and quaint just like the inside of the restaurant. We shared Fritto Misto as an appetizer. I like the jumbo prawns and calabrian chili aioli sauce, but the flavor or seasoning was lacking a little. The fresh ciabatta bread with piatti signature dipping sauce made up for it. Highly recommend the bread, especially if you plan to order pasta. I had the Radiatore with 6 hour beef & pork bolognese, grana padano, seka hills olive oil. It was hearty with a burst of flavors. It tasted even better the next day as leftovers. My friend got the fried pork chop, and it was juicy and savory. The cripsy crust gives it even more flavor. The side of polenta was the best part! I can't cook polenta for the life of me, and I always try to order it when I dine out. The consistency was perfect, and the sweet corn was the cherry on top. Delicious! A nice wine list, and we both enjoyed our choice of red wine. Our server Donna was very attentive and friendly. Beautiful outdoor patio with umbrellas, heaters, and small fountains. This is a go to date spot for us, as it's consistent and good. Unfortunately, the menu doesn't change much so we can never get anything new. This isn't the worst thing though, because we actually like everything. Chop salad is a must, great meat to veggie ratio and tons of flavor. Probably my favorite chop salad of any I've ever had. Pasta mains are all great, can't go wrong. They are all rich. Decent wine list, we normally order by the glass as we like different grapes. Patio is excellent, they have space heaters for when it's cool. Ambiance inside is nice, we just prefer the patio. There are a lot of regulars here so make a reservation! Consistently bad meals. The ragu was bitter, acidic and had a rusty/sharp flavor. The pizza crust was soggy in the center of the pie, because the oven was obviously not hot enough. Three ravioli lunches on the same table were severely overcooked to the point where the pasta was basically mush. This is really sub-standard Italian food in a pseudo fancy environment. Don't let the nice decor fool you: this is NOT how Italian food should be for people who can tell the difference. read more

My wife asked another hostess who I assume got the third person who informed us that they only allow service animals.
