Almost perfect? We drove down to Clarksburg on a lovely Friday evening for our date. Food 1. Starting with the roasted beet salad. Though I like these type of salads to be heavier on the beats and less on the greens, this was well-made and just the right amount of dressing. The goat cheese is an excellent complement to a clearly fresh and well made salad. Great job getting this right. 2. Next, our favorite, the creamed mushrooms! We were trying to decide which item to try on the main dishes and our server recommended this one and boy were we pleased! The menu says locally foraged mushrooms, cream, and the runny egg on top. Cooked in a cast-iron skillet and I crispy truffles on top. Excellent if you think something like this sounds good. 3. The Forster Pizza was the last show as the pizza orders were backed up on a busy Friday night. The highlight it's definitely the garlic confit topping buried underneath the of arugula. We're looking forward to the potatoes, but they were easy to miss as they were a few and small. The caramelized onions were also nice touch overall a great dish too. 4. I also ordered the Forester Paloma, virgin. Great choice if you love grapefruit. Note: We both commented that if you haven't been out here and it was dark, an inexperienced driver might feel a little uncomfortable getting here and back. Cool spot across the Delta in Clarksburg! A short 19 min drive from Elk Grove. The restaurant had a nice patio with herbs and tables out front. When we walked inside we were greeted right away and had no problem getting a table. The vibes were relaxed but with an artisanal charm. Pretty wooden tables decorated with fresh flower center pieces. We tried this place last night and it didn't disappoint! Boyfriend loved his old fashioned/ I tasted it and even though I don't usually drink straight whisky I could tell it was well made! It had a nice orange essence as you brought it in for a sip and had slight cherry notes but mostly tasted like whisky lol.. as it should. I got the plum beautiful cocktail - it was a plum cardamom infused cocktail garnished with a rosemary sprig, just kind of a spritzy botanical drink. It was not too sweet which I appreciated but i couldn't really taste any specific flavors so i was trying to muddle the rosemary I wished I had gotten the pina colada which they make with coconut cream pineapple We ordered the Cilantro Caesar salad, which was light and yummy with a great dressing and a nice salty cheese crumble on top with little croutons. We also shared the margarita pizza which was perfect! Great crust - like a bread stick texture- super fresh and I bet made in house. WOW - Driven past this little gem numerous times over last 5 years on our way to pick up our wine club selections. 'Marshall' was at counter to help walk us through menu and wine options. I've stopped in twice in the last two weeks. This spot is a gem. Honestly, if it was closer to my home I'd be stopping in all the time, and it's probably good that it's a bit of a drive. The restaurant is so cute, they have some parking spots and then there's additional street parking down the side street next to it. The restaurant is beautiful and open inside, and they have additional outside seating. When you enter you order at the counter and then find a seat. I've dined in once and ordered takeout on my second visit. The team here is welcoming and friendly and it's always worth checking out what the specials are. They make everything in house and the menu changes with the seasonal ingredients that are available. I've been trying to work my way through the menu to try different items, and so far everything I've tried has been great. The first time I visited with friends and we ordered a couple pizzas, their muffaletta, Italian beef, olives and focaccia, and salsa di parmigiano. Everything was so fresh and flavorful and you could tell they put time and effort into the menu items. The fresh house made bread makes a huge difference too. On my second visit I ordered a pepperoni pizza, the Caesar salad, hummus and crostini, and Italian beef sandwich. Everything was packed with care and made it the 30ish minute ride home and tasted delicious. Finally made it in time to try the za! Unexpected standout was the Caesar salad- it was sooo good. This place has some work to do. We went on a Saturday after they had a big event on a Friday and a couple of the regular and special dishes were sold out even though we were early in the evening. All of our food came out at different times, we had to ask for silverware and napkins, the food was OK the salad overdressed. Pizza was so bad my husband didn't eat it (this guy eats frozen pizza). Service could improve. Both bathrooms didn't have hand soap. Location is great and I hope they grow into it. read more

Leon, who took our order and made some excellent recommendations, was one of the nicest, knowledgeable and engaging people we have met. The interior is a simple and warm design, with a wine country elegance. The food is prepared to order and represents an eclectic combination of small plates, salads, sandwiches, main dishes and pizza, all of which seems Italian directed. Although we didn't try the pizza, which looked awesome, everything we had was outstanding. The flavors, food quality and presentation were excellent. We had dinner tonight at the new and improved Husick's by Forester. I had not been here since they have taken over the helm and I was duly impressed. Full disclosure, I worked here a year or ten ago. The place was always in need of a deep clean and a makeover. Boy did they do a great job. I also feel like this is finally being run by a group of talented grown up individuals. A slice of food heaven in the Clarksburg area! We came here about fourish years ago when it was owned by a previous owner. We heard about the new ownership and we had to swing by to check it out. The space is beautifully redone, it's bright and airy. You order your food and drinks at the counter. They serve local beer and wine (+ we got a spoiler that they may be getting a full bar soon). Now, the food - holy moly we wanted to try everything. They have weekly specials that look incredible. They keep their Instagram updated with their specials menu. We landed on two different sandwiches with two sides, the steak sandwich with a bean salad and a veggie sandwich (we added chicken) with the potato salad. Everything was AMAZING. The Italian roast beef sandwich was simply one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, one of those memorable items that you can't wait to have again. What a magical night it was! Yelp has truly opened the door to some incredible friendships and this one was no exception. A fellow friend organized a fantastic group date at Husick's, nestled near the river in Clarksburg. The drive down was absolutely beautiful setting the perfect tone for the evening. We all ordered different dishes and sharing them family-style was a great way to enjoy the meal together. Dinner on the Delta with Friends [Clarksburg CA] First of all, the building is cool. It is a historic building first built as a general store. It had a wooden sign that hung by the kitchen area, "Frank Husick Hardware store" and "selling general items." I like that new owner and chef, Matt Brown, kept many of the original details of the building. It was a cold, rainy evening when I met with friends, some 8 of us altogether. There was a live band entertaining the guests, The Anthony Coleman Trio. We enjoyed the jazz music despite the loud volume and we had a great time. We placed our orders at the counter. Normally in an evening without a live band it would be a table service. Most of us ordered (for a limited time only) the featured dishes, Asian-inspired -- Salted Fish Fried Rice (salted cod, chicken, garlic, ginger, veggies, sesame and soy sauce) and Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai. Delicious! Inside was nice and cozy with all table seating (no booths). There were a couple of high table tops too. We occupied a round table. Customer service was excellent. With the open kitchen we could see Matt prepare/cook the dishes. Umbrella covered outdoor patio seating available on nice warm, clear days. Husick's by Forester opened its doors on Sept 13, 2024 under the helm of Chef/Owner Matt Brown. If you've ever dined at The Jungle Bird, Golden Bear, or Bodega Kitchen and Cocktails, chances are good that you've had food prepared by Matt. Although Clarksburg is out in the Delta, it's worth the visit if it's out of the way for you. Located next to the Sacramento River, the building has gone through a few iterations over the century+ years and it's currently a charming tap house and restaurant with the original "Frank Husick Hardware" sign above the kitchen! My friends and I visited on a Friday night during Husick's by Forester's "Around the World in 80 Days" in which they showcase weekly specials from different countries (1/2/25 through 3/19/25). The week's specials were: Salted Fish Fried Rice (with salted cod, chicken, ginger, and veggies), Pork and Shrimp Siu Mai (with black mushrooms, topped with green onions and a sweet soy dipping sauce), and Congee (rice porridge with fried garlic, fried shallots, scallions, and toasted peanuts) to coincide with Chinese New Year. On Friday nights, they feature a band (free music!) and change from table service to counter service. The Anthony Coleman Trio (jazz) were playing when we were there... and wow, they were awesome. All of the staff were friendly and brought our dishes out shortly after ordering. Since they also had their regular menu items, we tried the following: *Salted Fish Fried Rice* - This dish was so well-balanced and the rice was soft and fluffy. It tasted equally delicious the day after as leftovers. *Pork and Shrimp Sui Mai* - Each of the 5 dumplings were over-sized and flavorful - easily better than many of the Sui Mai found at Chinese Restaurants. *The Forester Pizza* (roasted red potato, rosemary, caramelized onions, arugula, chèvre, mozzarella, confit garlic) - The gooey cheese was sublime, the crust was perfectly chewy, and together each bite was amazing. *Hangar Steak* (cooked with garlic and rosemary and came with pickled veggies, fresh focaccia bread, and a slice of cambazola cheese) - The steak was very tender, cooked rare (exactly per our request), and seasoned just right. The de-constructed dish was a bit unusual but worked nonetheless. Heck, the steak even paired well with the fried rice! Ha! Do yourself a favor and check out Husick's by Forester. They're open Wednesday through Friday, from 11 am to 9 pm. Try one or three of their weekly specials. Chef Matt has an outstanding repertoire and executes dishes like nobody else. read more

Went for a friends birthday. The food was excellent. I tried some pizza, a delicious vegetarian sandwich, appetizers, and a drink. I saw a bunch of people who had ordered the regional cuisine specialty, which was Cuba that night. They looked and smelled incredible and everyone seemed very happy with their meals. It wasn't busy, and it's right across from the river which made it feel even more peaceful. From the moment we walked in we were greeted and treated so nicely. This is a wonderful unique spot on the Sacramento river, a short drive south of the city of Sacramento. Came here after a 3 year absence only to come find out the ownership changed and so did the food. It use to have the worse barbecue in the delta and now it has great food and outstanding service (Howdy Quinn). I had their mushroom medley with focaccia and it was one of the best mushroom dishes I've ever had. 10/10. They use locally grown DiNapoli tomatoes in their food and they even had a garden in the back which cause me off guard when I went to the bathroom. They source their ingredients locally as much as they can from what I can tell which is great. The setting has changed a lot too since the last owners. It's a lot more clean and a lot more fancy as opposed to the rugged and tavern style it use to have. I personally prefer the older rugged style but this is good too for taking the family or going on a fancy date. I'd definitely try this spot at least once if you're a local or stopping by. Smashed potatoes smothered in curds and gravy topped with foie inspired by poutin, feves-au-lard, and cretons--they knocked it out of the park with this menu-- so delicious! We've been several times, and it's a lovely drive down the river road--gotta love when the journey and the destination are a package deal. Feels like we've traveled far, but it's not even a half hour from home. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic about food and create a fun, family vibe. The building--a former hardware store--is very cool looking. Wine and beer selection is nice. They just changed their main menu and for the next few months are cooking from a different cuisine each week. We look for their weekly specials on Instagram. OK, it's a long review but it's about the food and our overall experience = 4.8!!! And let's get this straight if you Yelp BBQ in Clarksburg and Husick's by Forester shows up; you'll be disappointed there's no bbq! Literally, my wife wanted BBQ and there was nothing that smelled like BBQ when we pulled up. Regardless we made the drive and decided to go in to be greeted by old friends who happened to be dining here. Our waiter Leon was fabulous, he's an ambassador for this establishment and understands the menu to the point where you might think he's the chef. Though the menu is small the items available are well prepared where the food shines in every bite. We ordered the beet salad where there is plenty of beets in different forms: sliced & cubed in a very light vinaigrette = tasty (and I'm not a fan of beets). My wife ordered the meat lover's pizza since she wanted "bbq"/meat and I opted to allow Leon to choose between the Chicken Coullette or the hanger steak. The pizza size is a nice portion size (maybe 14") and the cheese has a good stretch when pulling slices a part, but the crust is perfection: crispy & light; I would just eat the crust if that was an option. This was one of the few times I'm glad my wife is diabetic since I get to eat her pizza crust ends ‍ . As for the Chicken Coullette (which Leon picked and is noted to serve two people) is soooo good I almost ate the entire dish. The dish consisted of white bean casserole, fennel sausage with toasted bread crumbs topped with chicken confit. After each bite, my mind just wanted more because the fennel sausage does not overwhelm the dish since many sausages can be overly salty. Oooh, the chicken confit was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Even though my wife didn't get her BBQ she did admit that this place won't be a hidden gem for long! Stopped in after exploring the cute old house neighborhood nearby and seeing some river sights. Nice retro, unique historical town. They have an old historic school house open on weekends. Husick's was nice inside on this overcast Wednesday afternoon. Great service with knowledgeable staff about history and the area and a nice, clean stop. Delicious fresh cookies and treats and good wine selection . The pizzas and everything looked good but we didn't get a chance to try. They had a Chili festival coming up that looks fun.... this would be a good place for a little birthday party or something.
