The fritto misto had great texture and batter but exemplified interesting decision making in what to fry. We found onion skins, olives, shrimps, and calamari all jumbled and stuck together like they were clumped together in the fryer. Made for an interesting grab bag. I've been so excited to visit Good Neighbor, I've been keeping track of their instagram posts and everything has looked so delicious. This area is always very busy and finding parking can be hit or miss, but if you loop around or head onto some of the side streets you should be able to find something (usually paid parking) within walking distance. When I arrived on a Friday evening there was an hour wait for a table for two, we took a short walk over to Midtown Spirits for a drink while we waited for a text to let us know our table was ready. The texting system they have set up makes it really convenient, especially if you don't want to wait right in front of the restaurant. We ended up with a cute table for two and noticed they have blocks on the table to alert the team if you need service or the check- no one mentioned them as we were seated, so we weren't sure if we'd need to use them from the start or not. We ended up chatting and eventually a server came to introduce themself and take our drink orders. They were pretty busy, so service was on the slower side. We could tell they were hustling and weren't sure if pressing our table button would slow them down or if it's what they preferred. We ended up waiting patiently and when our drinks came we were able to order food. Our main courses took quite some time, we thought they may have forgotten us. We stayed patient though and right before we were going to check in they were brought out to us. We ended up having the English Pea Arancini ($12) as an appetizer, with three pieces they were a perfect starter and were very flavorful. I ordered the Good Burger ($22) it's a 1/2lb burger that has cheddar, pickles, lettuce, onions, sauce and a generous portion of tallow fries. The burger was tasty and I liked that the onions were grilled. It had house made pickles that were more tangy. I ended up taking half of the burger and most of the fries home because it was pretty filling. Although the fries would be perfect for sharing with dining companions and are best fresh. The person I was with ordered the Hanger Steak Salad ($34) and it was beautifully plated and perfectly cooked to her requested medium rare. The portion was also generous and she ended up having leftovers. We utilized the signal box on our table to let our server know when we were ready to pay and boxed up leftovers. We were excited to try something new after hearing and reading so many positive things about Good Neighbor, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The service was noticeably slow throughout the evening. For those unfamiliar, the restaurant uses a "service cube" system where you signal for assistance at your table -- but even with that, it often took a long time for anyone to come by. We also ordered drinks that never arrived, which was frustrating and colored the rest of the evening. The biggest disappointment, though, was the food -- specifically the burger. We had actually joked beforehand about just going to In-N-Out or Wendy's because our indecisiveness that night was exceptionally high. In hindsight, either would have been a better choice. The burgers would have not only been more enjoyable, but far more affordable. The irony is that the burger was the very reason we chose this place. To be clear, the beef was cooked exactly to request and the quality of the meat was evident. But it was bland, lacking the kind of flavor or even complexity that justifies a $25 price tag -- or the reputation that preceded it. We genuinely wanted this to be a new favorite. My family and I checked out Good Neighbor last night for dinner which is located in The Ice Blocks where Beast and Bounty used to be. The interior was beautiful - yellows, blues and greens that set the mood and the gorgeous bar was the focal point of the whole restaurant. For drinks, we ordered the Good Neighbor Old Fashioned, Freezer Martini and the Lemonade. My husband liked the Old Fashioned and said it was different in a good way, the Freezer Martini was just okay and the Lemonade was the sourest thing I've ever had in my life - it was straight lemon juice and water - we had to ask from them to sweeten it up twice just so that my daughter could actually enjoy it. For food, my daughter ordered the Kids Cheese Pizza and we started with Grandma's Meatballs. My daughter liked her pizza and we thought the meatballs were good - they had a nice flavor, but were nothing special. For our entree, my husband and I ordered the Steak Frites to share - while the plate looked beautiful, the plate didn't actually hit. The steak was tough because it was sliced across the grain (IYKYK) and it was also cooked medium rare, which is fine, but we were never asked how we wanted it cooked. The sauce on the plate was also very salty - it was too much for my husband and while the fries were fresh (I think) and cooked in beef talon, they weren't anything special either. Overall, I am giving them 4 stars because the service was spot on - shout out to Brenda who took great care of us! Quick service, and they have a button where you can switch a light to service and pay. We ordered their Caesar salad, tallow fries, breakfast pizza, and their cinnamon roll waffle. The street parking near the area can get full because of all the other shops and restaurants around the area. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. It was very good. The bread was soft. Paid my first visit to Good Neighbor for a work lunch and it was wonderful! The space is just gorgeous with its high ceilings and airy feel. Loved the open kitchen and the nice bar area. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. Andrew provided excellent service and was very helpful answering all of this first-timer's questions. We ended up going with the fritto misto as a shared starter and they were kind enough to not include fennel, as it usually comes with it but neither of us are fans. Let me tell you, this very well may be the best fritto misto I've ever had in my life! Loved the light, crispy batter and the nice variety of items including leeks, olives, thinly sliced lemon in addition to the plump shrimp and yummy calamari. The lemony aioli was outstanding, as well. Just. So. Good! He went with the steak sandwich and I opted for the Caesar salad with added chicken. Everything was delicious! FOB smells like orange juice and was more ginger forwards than j would like (my husband liked it more). MP I thought was way better. It was more refreshing. I came here with some friends for breakfast. I didn't see that they took reservations so we showed up about 15 minutes after they opened. There is street parking and there is a parking lot just two buildings down from the place. The spats are a little tight. when walking out we saw a car almost hit another parked car. When we entered there were a few tables taken but we were seated right away. They asked if we wanted a high top or lower seating. We went for the latter since my wife didn't want her feet dangling. and I don't really like the high tops. The place had a large bar since it did take over from the old Beast and Bounty. We sat in the area across from the kitchen. There is a wall separating that are from the bar area. We were first to arrive and then a few minutes later our friends came to meet us. It seemed like a while before the server came over and introduced herself. It wasn't that busy but it did seem like she wasn't very attentive. My wife pointed to a light cube in the middle of our table. It had a service button and a pay button. I was kind of disappointed that I had to call a server over using a call box. I didn't use it till I had to keep asking for refills on my iced tea. We were finally able to order our food. I got the salmon sandwich and it was pretty good. The salmon was cooked perfect and the bread was really fresh. My wife got the chicken sandwich and she enjoyed it too. I also got a trio cheese pizza. There was only one size and when it came out it was a personal sized pizza. It was just ok nothing special, kind of funny after taste. Great addition to midtown restaurants and the ice blocks! It's in the building where Beast & Bounty used to be (RIP). It was busy on a Friday night! We waited for about 45 minutes for two. The bar was crowded but we were still able to get drinks while we waited. The outdoor seating has heaters and blankets right now because of the cold weather, but we opted to wait for a table indoors. The service was great from the bartenders and the server after we got seated! The service cubes on the table allow you to alert your server when you need something, but they were good about checking in so it wasn't needed. Nice touch though! The drinks were great! The food was good, although my steak frites was on the edge of too salty for me. The chef special, braised short rib, was delicious. A new restaurant joins Urban Roots family! Being a big fan of their beer and Neapolitan pizza, it was obvious Good Neighbor was a match made in heaven. Glad to say that it lived up to my lofty expectations. Located right next to Philz in the heart of midtown R corridor, the building is a combination of rustic and modern. There are several tables outside, but we opted for indoor seating on an unusually hot mid-March day. The fod menu is simple: pizzas from the huge wood-fired oven, burgers, salads... but they also offer fancier casual dishes such as steak frittes, or mussels and chorizo. We started with meatballs and pavé fries for appetizers. The meatballs were made with good quality beef and tomato sauce was balanced and not too acidic like with some places. However, the pavé was the star of the show...melt in your mouth soft, layer upon layer with crispy outside. Do yourself a favor and try those. For the main we shared a pepperoni pizza and steak frittes. I would not call their pizza crust typical Neapolitan, but more of Neapolitan-inspired. It was very good. The steak frittes did not dissapoint either. This is a simple dish, and good quality hanger steak cooked to temperature should not be hard to mess up. But a lot of places somehow still manage. Not Good Neighbor. As far as drink options go there is a selection of core Urban Roots beers, with rotating IPA options. Despite the Urban Roots affiliation, the drink focus seems to be more on the coctails, which is fine. I also noticed their eclectic wine list, with wines from countries such as Croatia, Slovenia, or Hungary that are not normally found on wine cards at similar establishments. The service was pleasant and the little device placed on each table that you can press for service is a nice touch and saves time for both guests and service. The only downside was that the smell of the restaurant really stuck to my clothes, so I went back to work smelling like the restaurant/kitchen. Not a bad thing at all, but just something to note. For that, I'd probably come back for dinner rather than lunch or breakfast. The food was flavorful and filling! I chose the broccolini with my sandwich instead of fries and was surprised by how good it tasted. It was beautifully plated. I recommend ordering the bread with the balsamic and olive oil drizzle as an appetizer. It's fluffy and soft on the inside, with the perfect amount of seasoning on top! Everything was plated so cleanly and prettily, perfect for photos. I also love the little service button you can tap when you want to call the waiter. What a modern little touch! Like a Good Neighbor... good food abounds! Urban Roots has created another winner. One of my gal pals met me here for an early weekday lunch, for a catch up sess. Perfection! We were greeted by a friendly seating host who offered us which ever comfy seat and table that we wanted. Water and menus were probably brought to the table. We perused the menu and decided that we were going to enjoy a shareable together. We opted for the fritto misto. It's essentially a combination of shrimp, calamari, and some other goodness. The dish overall is absolutely shareable, and we both enjoyed it. We added a side of their house bread. The dish has several pieces of large shrimp, olives, calamari, lemon slices, leek leaves, etc. All lightly fried and lightly seasoned. A side of dipping sauce accompanies it. The shrimp was absolutely tasty, and I loved the lightly fried olives. It was a nice touch. The calamari was rather sparse and neither one of us really cared for the fried lemon slices. It just was not enjoyable to eat. I much prefer fresh lemon to squeeze over seafood. The dipping sauce was rather bland and did not offer anything to the dish. The bread is made in house. It was served warm and has a lightly crispy crust, and a soft center. We both enjoyed the dipping oil which had a very light garlic flavor to it. I would've loved something a little bit stronger. Service was pretty quick, and our server was pretty friendly. They've been open a month and are probably still settling into their rhythm. More enjoyable than the burger. - Blush cocktail: excellent. On the sweet side but still balanced. You still taste the alcohol up front but without the bitter aftertaste. Good stuff. Good Neighbor has quickly become my new favorite haunt. It's great for brunch, lunch or dinner. The food has always been consistent as well as delicious and the service is just as solid. I love the aesthetic both inside and out, it's a perfect balance of bright yet moody. I just love a joint where I can feel comfortable dressed up or down and GN definitely checks that box, come as you are! Noteworthy eats and drink, the biscuits and gravy are to die for as is the avocado toast. You can't go wrong with the grilled hanger steak sando and the pizza with house-made fennel sausage always hits the spot. Do yourself a favor and order a freezer martini or the GN Old Fashioned. Oh, and we've never once skipped the Pave fries along with the grilled artichokes with crispy Parmesan to share with the table! read more

Welcome to the ice blocks Good Neighbor! Living literally so close I had to come check this spot out! They just opened on Wednesday! They are in the spot where Beast & Bounty used to be.. RIP! I came in the door on the side entrance closest to the road.. I was trying to get a seat at the bar since I was coming alone but all the spots were taken! No worries though- someone greeted me and showed me an open table next to the bar! My server was very nice and I'm sad I didn't get her name! The resultant has a really nice ambiance and vibe to it! They did a great job! I started off with water and the Pepino cocktail a refreshing cucumber tequila drink! Very good! For food I got the spinach artichoke dip with homemade fresh focaccia. Soooo good! Literally it was amazing! For my entree I got the pasta bolognese! This was hearty and great! I didn't finish either dishes but took the leftovers home! The pasta had so much flavor and was so filling! I think the star of the show was spinach atchoke dip! That was amazing! My server disappeared in the middle of my dinner which was a little sad/ odd! I had to ask someone to please bring me a box and the check! I got to meet a guy named Chris not sure if he's a manager or owner but he was very nice! I tried Good Neighbor for dinner and loved it! Upon arrival, there was about a 20 minute wait on a Monday night so I sat at the bar with my friend as we waited. I had a glass of Domaine Brazilier rosé, which was crisp and refreshing. When our table was ready, my friend and I shared the mushroom arancini, which were perfectly crispy, flavorful, and full of mushrooms. I ordered the mussels and chorizo entree which was delicious, especially with their amazing fries. My friend really enjoyed the steak frites. We stopped into Good Neighbor around 12:30pm and were immediately impressed by how beautiful the space is. The interior design is stunning .. exposed brick, warm lighting, and huge windows that flood the room with natural light. The blue velvet booths paired with burnt-orange paneling give it a cozy yet modern feel, and the plants and small family-style photo wall add a thoughtful, homey touch. It was busy when we arrived, but the energy was upbeat and welcoming. Each table has a pay/service cube that makes it easy to get your server's attention - a small convenience but super helpful during the lunch rush. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and once the weather warms up, their patio will be a fantastic spot to hang out. We ordered the pepperoni pizza, and it was absolutely delicious .. wood-fired flavor, cupped pepperoni, perfectly crisp edges, and gooey cheese. Can't wait to come back and dive deeper into the menu. The spinach & artichoke dip, steak frites, and apple-walnut salad are next on our list. A bonus: Good Neighbor's sister spot, Side Hustle, is right next door, and you can order their boozy smoothies, shakes, and Liege waffles to enjoy inside Good Neighbor. I'm glad to finally see a new restaurant move into the space where Beast and Bounty once occupied. Trendy decor with a beautiful back bar. We arrived as a party of four. Their process is you order drinks and food at the counter, next claim a table, once seated the tables are full service and you are able to order more. I'm not always a fan of arancini, but their mushroom arancini is a must order. A savory umami small bite perfect way to start a meal. The good neighbor chop salad was solid. Fresh crisp lettuce, corn bread croutons, crumbled goat cheese, creamy avacoda chunks, and a sweet vinaigrette. Lots of texture and flavors. The bread and pizza were okay, the crumb a little denser than I would like. Pasta bolognese was pretty good, rich savory ragu sauce, with a generous amount of shaved parm. Our noodles were slightly over cooked, but not a deal breaker. The crispy roast chicken was well cooked, but juices were all over the plate. I think they were just in a rush to get the food out and didn't allow it to rest long enough. Chicken was tasty. The star of the show was the pork chop. Great flavor accompanied by a sweet glaze; still tender and moist. I would say this is a must order. We left full and satiated. Great food overall, a few things they could improve like any new restaurant. I will definitely be a return patron in the future. read more

The vibe here seems like a mixture of uppity and chill. We wanted to check this place out because we love urban roots, they have a full bar and nice ambiance however I think we're more of brewery type of peeps. We didn't get the most welcoming vibe from the hostess but he seemed to redeem himself with the service later on during our visit we almost left because of that, but we drove 30 minutes so we decided to stay. We ordered the steak frites and the Fritto Misto, both were great but I have to say I'm obsessed with the fritto misto the lemon aioli paired amazingly. The steak is a medium rare I'm more of a medium well but it was still good..honestly whatever the sauce was that came with the steak frites...I didn't care for it. I feel like it was a littttttle bitter and wasn't good to me. the hazy we had was delicious it was the rotating hazy called the karma dog, so good I wish urban roots had it. The parking sucks but we all know that... the lot was about 9 dollars parking for 3 hours. Wouldn't go out of my way to come back but if I'm here I'd stop by. read more

I came to Good Neighbor with a friend for lunch on a Monday. We were seated right away and warmly greeted by our waitress. The service was phenomenal from start to finish. Our waitress was attentive without being overbearing and ensured we had everything we needed. Since it was our first time, my friend and I decided to splurge, and we ordered a little bit of everything. To start, we ordered the mushroom arancini, Pave fries, and a chopped salad. The mushroom arancini were crispy perfection and full of flavor. The Pave fries were unique and something I had never tried before. And the chopped salad helped to balance our meal with some greens. For the rest of our meal, we decided to sample a fennel sausage pizza and a wild mushroom pizza. Both had perfectly thin crust that held up well to their toppings. Despite being sad to see Beast & Bounty go, I am thrilled that something as delicious as Good Neighbor took its place. read more

I really wanted to like this restaurant but unfortunately it was below standard. Service - SLOW Price Point- expensive for its standard Chopped salad - bad- missing the pear, dates and goat cheese. Like how do you miss that? It's your menu Meatballs - 3 small pieces and the menu said shareable. These meatballs were so small, they weren't enough for my 17yo Frito misto- batter was tempura texture and the seasoning super salty. Almost looked like msg Burger- probably the only thing that was good. Lacks flavor but I like the char and thickness Mushroom Pizza - salty and floppy - def not a 25.00 pizza Side of smothered corn bread - terrible- it tasted like it was smothered in molasses This place has potential bc of the space and location but the food needs to do better. Excellent Steak Frite ~ steak was tender and tasty, topped along a delicious sauce! The sauce was so addicting that I used it even for the French fries. The Broccolini paired perfectly and had a nice texture ~ not too soft or hard. Indoor ambiance is nice and fresh, but opted to dine outdoors to get some sun, especially when the weather was a comfortable 70 degrees. Awesome and accommodating service as well. So glad my Good Neighbor has moved in. read more
