I stopped in post work and absolutely fell in love with this charming spot. Being right across from the Capitol is a built in advantage, sure but they go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your time here with great wine and great small bites. This is the perfect place to unwind after a long day or during your lunch break. They've really done a great job making the patio feel like their own space. I will be coming back here quite a bit!

So my wife had this place bookmarked on her yelp so I decided to take her out to this place. When we got there, we had to find a table ourselves. When we sat down we had a server at our table fairly quickly. The server helped my wife select a wine but forgot all about me lol but she was friendly, however the environment is for older people Who just likes to wined down and have a glass wine or beer and enjoy themselves. It's very low-key, the only bad thing is that they have only one bathroom. We ordered the charcuterie board and the grilled blue cheese. The grilled blue cheese came with a Cesar salad and both the salad and the sandwich were a bit too salty for my liking, but the wife enjoyed it. The charcuterie board was good and everything paired well.

I was pleasantly surprised with Whired. We arrived around 9 pm on a Friday and they had a live jazz guitarist playing. It's quite small and intimate. It was not crowded but the main groups there were of the older crowd, I'm no spring chicken, just don't expect this to be a hipster hangout. We were seated and our waitress offered some wine selections since I am a sweet white wine drinker and I noticed they had no moscato or Riesling. Her recommendation was perfect and I found a new wine to enjoy. We ordered the cheese and charcuterie board and the grilled blue cheese sandwich. Let me start by saying I am a prosciutto and blue cheese snob! Their prosciutto fell short and their blue cheese was very mild. They did not have honey but offered a fig jam that was comparable. But it's a wine bar, focus is wine! Which they had a good selection of.

A good time at Whired Wine

Whired wine was amazing. I thought I already posted my review but I guess somehow it didn't go through. Everyone was friendly. The food and wine was amazing. I will definitely be back once life goes back to normal.

My friend and I try to meet up once a month, and she mentioned how much she wanted to check Whired out. I'm all in for a wine bar, they've been on my radar, so there we were day drinking and loving every second. What a fantastic happy hour! In addition to their hh menu, select regular menu items are $2 off, such as my prosciutto arugula salad and the olive/almond plate. Everything we tasted was delicious and perfectly paired with their wines offered. Our hh red was a blend, a balanced burst of flavors without the dry after taste. Their sangria is on the dryer side, and we couldn't have been happier as we both aren't sweet drinkers. The owner was very honest stating his cook wasn't in yet, when we arrived at 4pm, but he went above and beyond to accommodate us and our selections. I think he did pretty well putting my salad together! Parking isn't too painful as there is a pay parking lot on 5th Street, left side just before you reach L Street. We loved our hh and can't wait to visit again.

There's one seating area with a couch & 4 cushy chairs for a larger group, 6-8 highball tables and approx 12 chairs at the bar.

My first experience here absolutely made me want to come back. This place feels like it belongs tucked away in my little neighborhood a mile over in midtown instead of right across from DOCO and I loved it! It's a very relaxed environment, not touristy or pretentious and the owner, John, is someone I'd like to watch a game with while I sat at the bar. He put the Giants game on as I was leaving so I'll be back to watch and sip. They have a good happy hour with a mix and match wine flight available and some small bites. I didn't get any nibbles tonight but had the flight with 1 red: Primitivo & 2 whites: Sancerre & Vino Verde. I liked all 3 and elevated to have a glass of the Verde on HH for $7 after my flight. I came with 4 others and they all shared in my sentiment that we should come again.

This is a wonderful wine bar in Sacramento. Came here on a rare date with my wife. It's located across from the Capitol Building, in the portico of the historic Senator Office Building. You order at the outdoor counter. Choice of flatbreads, sandwiches, salads and other apps. Big wine list and local beers. About a dozen tables well spaced out in the shade. Very relaxing vibe, unpretentious. There was a singer/guitarist performing mellow tunes the evening we went. The fig and prosciutto flatbread was a great mix of savory and sweet. We even went back to the counter to order dessert. Don't forget to peak inside the lobby of the Office Building to get a glimpse of the historic space.

The guy warned me that the rose was fruity, I think what he meant to say was it tastes like juice. But I like my wine that way!

Whenever I'm in the DOCO area, I usually go to Bailarin since that's the only wine bar I knew of until last night when I discovered Whired. And let me tell you, I'm hooked! The happy hour was very inexpensive- $5 wines and even cheaper beers, plus they had tons of food options to munch on! I got the $6 Happy Hour Margarita Flatbread- it wasn't the best flatbread I'd ever had, but for $6 bar food, it was great. The ambiance is really cute and the service was great. They have Happy Hour until 7 p.m. and cute wine & sip events every month. Highly recommend

My wife and I went in Sunday night. We were out bar hopping. This is a nice little spot close to the Golden one center. They have outdoor seating and the inside seating is cozy. My wife tried the Paso Robles cab and I had the Argentina Malbec. Both we delicious. We had their fig and prosciutto flatbread with the wine. It paired well with the wine. At the end the host offered use a tasting of their new release wine. Very nice of him. It was well balanced and would go great with some red meat. I really enjoyed it. Smooth, a little fruit forward with a quick finish. The service was excellent and the staff was friendly. I would definitely go back.

I walked in and was like Adorbs! True new Sacramento gem! Cute new place in Sacramento, so new it doesn't even have a proper sign yet, easy to miss. I was amused by the witty signs and decor. $5 happy hour wines; not a huge selection for happy hour drinks, but they do provide a generous portion. They have specials for sangria on Saturdays. I didn't get to try the food here, but will be back! Fun place to hang out with friends after work!

Fantastic wine bar. Great food and Staff, very affordable . Some great Reds here. Try the Blue Cheese Panini!

Julieann M.

Stopped in for a quick drink with a colleague..staff was professional and very knowledgeable of the wines. We decided to try a small plate and ordered the cheese which as actually perfect for a quick bite and very tasty! This is definitely a cute and fun little spot to sip on wine and relax!

Just a taste....

Sacramento was dying for a new wine bar in downtown! Love this little spot on the corner. It's near the golden one center and has plenty of parking. Great choices of wine and delicious appetizers. This little nook at night just lights up with cuteness!

Ask the Community - Whired Wine Window

Do they serve any non-alcoholic beverages here as well?

Yes. Iced tea, soda, and sparkling water.

Would this be a good place for a large group Birthday?

It's a small place so depending on how big your party is you might not have a lot of room. It might be worth contacting them about it.

It was so delicious and paired well with the Riesling. The green curry ceviche was refreshing crunchy and zesty. The beef tartare is the best in the Sacramento area hands down. I reckon as the weather gets warmer I may opt for indoor seating, but this option is definitely worth coming back for. I couldn't recommend this place any more. We snagged a cookie on the way out and NO WAY THAT BETTY COOKIE was one of the best things I've eaten. They bake too?? AND they open at 7 for my return to office mandate :( I love it here

We also got the Branzino, which was extremely bland, on top of some seemingly frozen vegetables and pees. We ate about 1/3rd of that. The Pulpo (octopus) had a beautiful presentation, but only ate half of it, as it tasted just a bit fishy. Likely needed to be marinated for longer, better quality etc. The service was 5 stars aside from the entrees taking a bit too long to arrive, and the place itself is nice. But the food, very underwhelming. Wouldn't go back because nothing was AMAZING, and for the price, you deserve to expect at least something to wow you. Unfortunately presentation can only get you so far, quality of ingredients and actual flavor is what really matters.
