    Saffron chicken

Came for a business meeting. There's a small parking lot behind the building and other street parking nearby. Got the brussel sprouts to start which I thought weren't crispy enough. Also got the pakora which was ok and kinda too greasy for my taste. For my entree I got the saffron chicken with spinach rice and pumpkin. It was quite expensive for the meal with a tiny piece of chicken. The flavor for everything on my entree was good and the chicken was moist. My friends got the burger which they all enjoyed. Overall, service was great and it is clean with nice decor inside but the food was pricey for the portion.

Starting in reverse order: the Saffron Ferni dessert - phenomenal, its light, floral, touch of sweetness, perfect smooth texture contrasting with the crunchy nuts. Top contender for dessert of the year. The bolani had good flavor, but was overpriced, lacking in filling, and a bit dried out. Fish of the day and scallops were extremely well made and flavorful. Would come back for those! They also have great drinks at the bar and service was kind and warm. Perfect date night spot and very creative fusion cuisines.

We have been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally made it for dinner! We were not sure how busy it would be the day after the Fourth of July but we lucked out and it was nice and quiet. They have a coffee bar and also serve brunch on the weekends. They also have lunch and happy hour. We were especially interested in the afghan menu items and decided to try that from our appetizer thru dessert. We had the Mantu steamed dumplings to start followed by the Saffron Chicken & Kabuli Palow. Both were really flavorful and would definitely recommend! My favorite was the Kabuli Palow which is the beef shoulder, cauliflower and basmati rice dish. The beef was really tender and the rice was very flavorful with raisins and almonds. We ended dinner with dessert trying the Saffron Ferni which is gluten free milk based custard with cardamom, rose water and pistachios. While it was not my cup a tea it did have good flavor and was still a winner for our table. I really want to give a shout out to our server Melinda who was absolutely wonderful. She was attentive and took the time to share highlights of the items on the menu and her recommendations on the best dishes. She had a great sense of humor and was a breath of fresh air as often we feel like we are being rushed when we are dining out. This felt like our experience mattered. We will absolutely be back to work our way through the menu for brunch, lunch and other specials.

The first time here we loved it. Delicious food. Tasty kebabs and yummy sides. Rice was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The cappuccino was excellent. So that was the first time. On our second visit, again for lunch. We parked in the lot behind the establishment. Some guy was turbo cleaning his sinuses with monster snot rockets. IYKYK GROSS! When we noticed the offender was the cook we right away opted out, never to return. Feels bad to call out a family run business. At the same time it's real hard to look past this sort of behavior.

I can't believe I had never heard of this place before, and I've been in Sacramento for over a decade. We had a lunch of appetizers, and everything was amazing. I was shocked at how good the crab cakes were, I'll be coming back for that specifically. Favorite part was they have a dog menu! I ordered a chicken & rice bowl for my pup (no sauces or seasonings on anything). It was fun to give him a special treat. Wasn't super impressed with the couple of wines I tried, the waitress didn't drink and wasn't able to recommend anything for us. Overall, cute patio vibes, yummy food, dog friendly. I'll definitely be back!

We had dinner at Brickland and tried three dishes... Kabuli Palow, Saffron Chicken, and the New York Steak, and all of them were great. The Kabuli Palow came with tender pieces of beef in a flavorful sauce, paired with a mound of rice studded with carrots and raisins. It had a nice balance of savory and slightly sweet, and the meat was cooked just right. The Saffron Chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, served with a vibrant green spinach rice that really stood out. The puree tied everything together without being overpowering. The New York Steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, very tender, and served with layered potatoes and roasted carrots, a great mix of textures and flavors on the plate. The atmosphere was very nice, modern but comfortable, not too busy or crowded, so it was easy to relax and enjoy the food. Service was friendly and attentive without hovering. Great flavors, good presentation, and a welcoming vibe.

Confusing entrance from the parking lot as people were coming in to order coffee to go. Finally was seated and the server while only being his second day was polite and asked for assistance when he was unsure of what their house sparkling was. Food was good, I had the burrito and my husband had the poached eggs with poached salmon. He had no complaints re the eggs but wanted a toasted English muffin and the potatoes more crisp as well. His comment was that everything was the same texture, soft. My burrito was tasty and I enjoyed the feta side dip despite it not making any sense. If you go stay away from the house sparkling as it is a 6.50 bottle of sweet sparking grape juice sold for 6.50 at total wine. I feel a 350% markup is not acceptable. They listed Domaine Carneros as being a French champagne. It is actually a very nice sparkling house in Napa and I love their sparkling wines. Overall the food and ambiance is nice and relaxing and serving sizes are acceptable. Our waiter did great for his second day.

Love!! Such a great eclectic date night spot. We'll definitely be back to try their chai. We got sliders and lamb shank which were very tasty. The fries were hella good. We also want to come back for brunch at some point.

We both are having Beef Sliders with beet salad and they are really good. Katelyn was our waitress and we got everything right and she kept on top of our needs. We have gone to this restaurant way back when it was 33rd. The place continues to do little things here and to dress up the place continues. My only complaint was there was no Chalula and I gave her a hard time about and she agreed.

Food: I've primarily had brunch here. I come here out of convenience on the weekends as it is not far from my gym. For a quick breakfast fix, this is place is fine and I will continue to come here as I like the ambiance of the place and it is convenient. That being said, I am not very motivated by the food here. I've had the benedict and the breakfast burrito and have been less than impressed. Further, as others have commented on, it's a little pricey for what it is. I just haven't been impressed with the flavor profile of the dishes here. I find the potatoes kind of lackluster. The ratio of potatoes to eggs/meat in burrito was high for me and no bite was consistent. Service: Everyone is very kind and I always see the owner around gabbing with customers. Ambiance: The place is pretty big. Overall, it's pretty clean and feels pretty standard. I don't get a specific vibe from the place. The bar has a separate entrance and has two big TVs (no sound)

Glad we had reservations for a Saturday night! We showed up a little early and the place was packed. Parking is in the lot behind the restaurant which is great due to how busy it gets and the street parking can get tight. Inside is simple contemporary with that comfortable 'brick' feel since it IS "Brickland". The room is loud and where we were seated in the thoroughfare was a bit buzzy so be prepared to talk loud to your fellow diners. The hosts (owners) were very nice and noticeable as they toured the floor checking on things throughout the evening. There is also a large bar area in the back of the dining area. Brickland is a combo Afghan, pizza/pasta and American faire restaurant. We of course choose to enjoy the food of the owners, and went with Afghan. Started with the house soup. Good and rich, but just needed a little something else to give it that extra kick of flavor. Next we had the Kadoo Bolani - Crispy grilled philo dough with butternut squash and spices. These were pretty good For the main course we both had the Kabuli Palow - "Loaded" basmati rice with beef shoulder cuts and sauteed cauliflower. This dish was excellent on all points. Very good. What didn't go right was that we sat waiting for someone to come to our table for quite a while. I was reaching that 'twitchy' mode just before the server finally came over to greet us. I ordered a cocktail, and we decided that we had better get the appetizer order in now... Our orders were placed, and the food did come out as it all should have. The appetizer plates were not cleared before the person serving the main courses came out, which made it super awkward to negotiate all these plates on a tiny 2 top table. And our server never did come back to check on us until we were completely finished with our meals and waiting for the check. Overall, it was a 'good' evening, but there certainly are some missteps that could have been avoided.

I remember from the video they said this was considered a "bartenders bar",the kind of spot that that bartenders and workers in the industry would hangout after their shifts-I liked the sound of that. Walking up to where I thought the bar was located,it was kinda funny because it was just an innocent looking blue door with the words "Cocktail" along the side-doesn't look like much at all,I'd imagine I've walked by this place many times without thinking of ever going in-that was changing this time. When I walked in I 100% knew I was stumbling upon something special-it was a tiny place but it was overflowing with energy, not many booths in this bar and it may be the smallest bar I've ever been to but it felt special.Looking at the clientele I felt like I was with my people,it was so cool in there. This is the kind of place I would take my wife and any of my friends before a special night out and be it a dinner or a concert or a production at Safe Performing Arts Center and feel like it would set the right vibe for the night. The restaurant is quite small inside with very limited seating, but the outdoor patio is beautiful. Be ready to likely sit outside, but enjoy the atmosphere. We started with the mezcal old fashioned and the cucumber jalapeño margarita. The mezcal old fashioned was a delicious smoky twist on the classic cocktail. The cucumber jalapeño margarita was refreshing, though a little sweeter than I expected and missing the spicy kick I was hoping for. The guacamole was fresh and tasty, but the portion was quite small and barely enough for two people in my opinion. The salsa was also small but it was absolutely phenomenal. The chicken tacos were excellent, with tender chicken that was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The enmoladas were also fantastic and are a great way to sample Oaxaca's three unique mole sauces, each with its own distinct character. One thing to note is that the chicken filling is intentionally prepared very simply in traditional Oaxacan cuisine so that the mole remains the star of the dish. If you prefer heavily seasoned meat, this dish may be milder than what you are used to. Overall, everything we tried was delicious and offered a wonderful taste of authentic Oaxacan flavors. NOT THE FOOD: - no parking lot; only street parking. I went for a very early dinner (a little before 5p) so no problem with parking. Street parking was free as well (not metered). - the decor inside is very nice and in keeping with the type of food that's served. yay. - the inside seating area is fairly small... there's only 4 or so 4-top tables & a bar that seats 8 or so? There seems to be a lot more seating outside though. - Our server was nice and patient as we took some time to look over the menu. SORT OF ABOUT THE FOOD: - They have a happy hour menu Mon-Fri 3p-6p; check out the other Yelp pics bc I didn't snap a pic myself. - The entrees don't come with rice & beans nor anything else. what you see on the menu is what you get. as such, the entrees are not terribly filling. they really should just slop on some rice & beans so they can be sure that you leave feeling full. THE FOOD AND DRINK: - Classic Mezcal Margarita: this was a fine, properly made cocktail. None of that nasty "margarita mix" here. $9 on happy hour. woo! - Guacamole: umm.. disappointing... rather bland; though, not diluted with sour cream or anything like that.. just kinda tasted like mashed up avocados.. there was a sprinkling of some red powder on top that I couldn't taste.. I didn't taste teh mint, basil, nor jalapeno that's described on the menu. It also came out refrigerator-cold, so that kinda muted the flavors as well. But I let it sit out throughout my meal to try it after it had "warmed" up a bit, but alas... still bland.. it was served with some salsa as well, which was quite nice. - Enmoladas: this is a trio of chicken enchiladas with each of their 3 moles: red, yellow, and black. The red and black mole were great; the yellow was kinda bland (at least, in comparison). Unfortunately, the chicken in my enchiladas was super bland. It tasted like there was zero seasoning & that they just poached it? And, the pieces of chicken were pretty thick too, which accentuated the blandness... so, I kinda mashed it up as I went along so I could get that delicious mole flavor mixed in with the chicken. - Tlayuda: this is kinda like tostada. it was okay. not great; not terrible. just fine. it ate kinda dry... like it needed some sauce... and, some spice would've been nice as well. this one will not really fill you up; it's more of an appetizer. - Kid's cheese quesadilla: this thing is pretty small; it uses the same tortillas as the tacos, so it's not very big/filling at all, but at least it comes with beans and rice. so, while I loved the margarita and the mole, there was a fair amount of disappointment along the way. perhaps, I'll stop by again if I'm in the neighborhood & would like a nice mezcal or tequila-based cocktail and a small bite to eat, but I'll think twice about having a full dinner.

This place is called The Green Room for a reason. If you are a dedicated phytophile, this place is…read morefor you. Plants plants and more plants! You should check out their restroom too. Apparently the plants hanging from the ceiling are hand watered. Sometimes I can barely keep my little desk plant alive in my office -- talk about dedication! Lovely space with plush seating and friendly service. They had a special going on featuring Girl Dinner - salad and a cocktail. Now that's my type of dinner. I don't know if this is still being offered and their website didn't list it. They do have Golden Hour from 4 - 6 Tuesday - Saturday and all day on Tuesday! https://thegreenroomsac.com/menu/ Fun spot for date night or any night for that matter. Last time I was here it was all women from the servers to the guests. No Y chromosomes to be found, yeah I guess you wouldn't come here for Man Dinner.

The decor is super cute and definitely one of those places you want to take photos in. The cocktails are really good, and I have to give a big shoutout to Mateo behind the bar. He always takes great care of me and my friends and makes amazing drinks and is super thoughtful! The food is just as solid. The menu has a nice variety, and the house fries are honestly so good. I can't say enough about their Wednesday girl dinner. You get a cocktail, a salad, and fries, which is kind of the perfect combo. My only wish is that they were open for lunch because this would be such a great daytime spot too. Overall, love this place and will definitely be back soon.
