I have been wanting to try The Snug for so long now. It was my good friend Bianca V who recommended we go to The Snug for drinks one Friday eve to decompress and relax with drinks and good friends! When we walked in, we were instantly greeted by the bartenders who informed us that we can sit anywhere we'd like, and that one of them would be over to take our order in a little bit. I was in awe of just how beautiful The Snug is. When I sat down, I took it all in from looking at the beautiful bar and the seating. We chose to sit at a table near the window. The plants in here are so pretty. I cannot wait to come back and dine outside. Five stars because this place delivers the best drinks and the customer service is out of this world.
This is one of my favorite bars in Sac. The ambience both inside and out is always great. Their craft cocktails are creative without being over the top or pretentious. All of the staff from bartenders to servers are exemplary. Their commitment to customer service, greeting regulars warmly and remembering orders and preferences is something they should be proud of. This is a must during Christmas, totally worth the wait as it's decorated to the max and even snows during Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas"! Great place to hang out with friends on a weekday or impress out of town guests on the weekends.
The local after work watering hole for Sac. We came during their Christmas pop up and it looked like Santas house. The inside was to the T decked out with Christmas decorations. We came for happy hour at about 4:30 and there was no inside seating and it was already packed. Getting a drink at the bar was all most impossible. We opted for the last outside table and our waiter got our drinks. Way faster. Every time Mariah Carey sang it snowed and rained bubbles. Pretty fun not gonna lie. They had space heaters outside to calm the cold. Drinks were in trendy theme oriented mugs and cups. Looking at about $15 per drink on average. They were ok. No food here but you can order pizza and snacks from next door and bring over. Street parking, come early.
After a fun couples activity, my girl and I stopped by The Snug. When we walked in, we were able to grab a booth where we could have some alone time, which was perfect. Our waitress, Aria, was really nice and welcoming. I'm not a big drinker, so I ordered the non-alcoholic Dealer's Choice, where you tell them what flavors you like and they create something for you. I asked for vanilla, pineapple, coconut, and something carbonated. Unfortunately, the drink wasn't really for me, it came out a little too bitter. My girl's drink was a bit strong (even though I can't remember exactly what she ordered). Even though I wasn't a big fan of my drink, I still sipped on it while we just vibed, talked, and enjoyed each other's company. The bar had a great atmosphere with good music playing in the background. It's definitely a nice spot to bring friends or go on a date or somewhere you can relax, sip on drinks, and have a real conversation. I would definitely come back, but next time I'd probably choose a different drink or give them a different flavor profile for the Dealer's Choice. I can't be mad at them for not loving the drink when I'm the one who picked the ingredients
Great cocktails. It gets busy at night, but it's such a nice ambiance here when the sunlight hits the bar. It's such a different vibe during the day! I saw people building their Lego sets, or bringing laptops for work. They do great job during Halloween & Christmas. Definitely worth checking them out.
I have been here a few times and never had an issue. They usually have security at the door checking IDs. This particular Monday night they did not. I was greeted right when I walked in. There were a few people there, not too many...plenty of open seating. I went straight to the bar and there were 2 bartenders at least. One of them gave me a glass of water right as I sat down. I was waiting for my date to arrive and decided to move to a booth and the greeter/server/seater came and gave me a menu and asked if she could get me anything and I said I wanted a mocktail and she pointed them out... My date arrived looking fine as a can be and he too wanted a mocktail.. We both ordered the same one (watermelon yuzu) but they were out of yuzu...so the gal asked if she could just surprise us and if there was anything we really liked or didn't like. I told her I wasn't picky. Aria - another bartender or manager came by and filled our waters and said if we needed anything we can ask for her. She was a sweetheart. The other gal came back with 2 different drinks (so we could each try)... one was reminiscent of a white linen (with cucumber and lemon), the other I could not tell- but tasted like it had aperol/campari spice. They were both NA though- I made sure! We chatted and got to know each other and it was an excellent date - especially in Dry January. Who says you can't go to the bar when you are alcohol free? I love the ambiance of this place and all their unique craft cocktails and mocktails!
Decided to check out The Snug's Christmas pop-up. I knew it was popular (thanks, TikTok), so I tried to beat the crowd by showing up early, just clearly not early enough. There was already a line forming at 3 PM, but thankfully it moved pretty quickly, and we were inside after about 15 minutes. They had a tent with heaters for those waiting, which was a nice touch. Only thing missing? Music. Luckily, I had my speaker and played some Christmas jams to help pass the time and lift the mood. Once inside, there were no seats available, so we claimed a corner of the bar while we waited. I ordered the Christmasaurus and my friend got the Christmapolitan, both were festive and delicious. Eventually, we snagged a little table and got to soak up the vibes while waiting for the Queen of Christmas moment (you know the one) when it starts snowing inside. Total magic. One thing I loved: once you have a seat, servers come around to take your drink orders. I tried the "Secret Santa"... and yeah, hard pass. It was honestly gross, and the cookie it came with was stale. But shoutout to our server for being super sweet and letting me switch it out for an Old Fashioned, which hit the spot. My friend ordered the Koala LaLaLa and we loved the little straw buddy it came with (yes, you are allowed to take that home, we double checked) The decor and atmosphere were incredible, but be prepared to wait.. for drinks, seating, and especially the bathroom. The staff works hard to keep things moving while still delivering a great experience. Final note: stop stealing the cups!! They're available for purchase. Don't ruin a good thing for everyone else. Be cool.
A nice space with fun seasonal pop-ups and amazing staff. I first found this place during Halloween season for their Black Lagoon Pop-up. Their theming was on point and drinks are fun and inventive. So when I hear they are doing a Christmas pop-up I hurried over to check it out. During holiday seasons (of 2025) Snug is doing Miracle Pop-up. The place is beautifully decorated. Drinks and drinkwares are so festive. The cherry on top is it snows every hour or so (artificial snow but sooooo fun!) For drinks I got to try: Christmapolitan: a very tasty and easy to drink cocktail. It's a little herby from the rosemary but well balanced! Nice shot (comes in souvenir shot glass you can take home): there was a small mix up and a naughty shot was brought over. I tasted it. It was on theme for sure but I absolutely can not do ginger and ginger is very much in this drink. If you like a spicy drink I wanna say you would like it and they nailed it. After confirming it's a mix up they were nice to bring over a nice shot and asked me to keep the naught shot. Since I can't do ginger they dumped it and let me keep the cup. So I ended up with a delicious nice shot and a pair of shot glasses. A blessing in disguise~ Run Run Reindeer: a lightly bubbly drink. Very delightful and definitely a drink you wanna drink when the heater is blasting haha Secret Santa: if you feel cold this is the perfect drink. It's a cider drink with buttered rum. A lowkey decadent drink that will warm your soul! Koala LaLaLa (comes with a koala on the straw that you can keep): this turned out to be one of my favs. At first I didn't know how would eucalyptus work in here but it really works well! Staff is amazing. They are very attentive, helpful and very knowledgeable. Their recommendations are absolutely on point! Drinks are very reasonably priced considering the attention to details in them. I will have to make time to visit as much as I can before the holiday season is over!
One of my favorite places in Sacramento to stop by for a drink. They do so well with their seasonal menus, so many different festive drinks. As always, this visit included great service and the bartenders were so busy & yet so timely! It's such a cozy atmosphere & I love the layout of the seating areas. Their Christmas decor this year was exquisite as well!!! It was so busy for a Sunday afternoon after Christmas. I'll always come back when I'm in town.
I've been wanting to come here during Christmas for so long. Finally made the trek last night and the line was insane. They had a Fast Pass option where you can pay $20 and go in relatively quickly. We chose to do that and go in within 10 min. People in the other line had been waiting for an hour plus, so it was for sure worth it. The inside was super cute and decked out with Christmas decor. They dropped "snow" from the ceiling and had music, every inch of this place was green and red and white. Great for photos. It was so busy that there was absolutely no room to sit inside and barely any standing room in the actual bar. When it came to ordering drinks, we got the Coconut Hot Chocolate, Candy Cane Lane & FA-La-la-La drinks. I hate to say this but I was soooo disappointed with these. They were straight liquor and we couldn't enjoy them at all. There's nothing worse than paying $15-20 for a drink to only be able to take two sips before feeling sick. If they could actually make drinks that tasted remotely good, I would consider coming back & even more regularly, but I'd rather take my chance at The Trophy Club or Midtown Spirits for Christmas decorations bc they at least have good drinks...
Came with a big group but got in pretty fast since they were close to the front when I arrived. Walking in, I noticed the Halloween decor immediately. Everything meshed together really well and none of the decor looked cheap. Also, the lighting really helped drive home the name of the bar while creating a spooky ambience. I'm currently on a sober journey, so very happy to see a decent selection on their 0% ABV menu. I selected the Widow Maker because of the tea, ube, and lemon combo. My order was one of three drinks, and it took closer to 10 minutes to get them after placing the order. The bartender nicely asked us what our order was again, but it's understandable considering how busy they were. My drink wasn't anything to rave about. The tea was the strongest flavor, and there was just a lot of sugar it seemed. I ended up adding a whole cup of water so I could enjoy it. I'd come here again, since I've had good experiences and drinks in the past, especially around the holidays since they do a great job at decorating. However, this experience could've been better.
Welcome Home! I like this cool sign on the wall as you enter the place. Sophisticated atmosphere with intimate corners and comfortable seating. I love the vibe of the interior as soon as I walked in. We were seated right away since it was still early in the evening. It was hard to decide on what to order because everything on the menu sounds amazing with unique/cool names. I went with Snug No. 1 - figured I can't go wrong with a drink named after the bar. It's bourbon, cognac, demerara applewood smoke and trinity bitters. It was high-quality and strong! I also love the presentation of the large ice cube with "Snug" stamped on it. Very fancy! I had a sip of my son's drink, Fonzworth and immediately thought this was more of my kind of cocktails. It has corn whiskey, fennel, carrot, cinnamon lemon juice. It was smooth and so yummy. The waiter (I think she was the manager) probably overheard that I like Fonzworth drink more. She sent me a shot glass size of Fonzworth to our table. I thought that was really sweet and kind of her. Needless to say, I will be back. I'm thinking about the drink as I write this review. It's so nice to have likeminded people that share your passion for good cocktails. Excellent service. I highly recommended.
Our server Aria came to our table to our drink order dropped off the drinks a fairly quickly once we sat down. Unfortunately she didn't come back to check back on us for an hour and 15 min. We wanted another drink but at that point decided to migrate next door motor some pizza and a beer. I ordered the Snug 9 and Mr Man got a u Call. My drink was strong as heck which isn't really a bad thing and his drink was not good lol. Overall the night was well we had a great booth the place gets pretty busy and depending on the night the music is jumping. The night we went the music was meh but the place is a real vibe. We will definitely return and hopefully the service is better and they don't take over an hour to check back on us.

While visiting friends in Sacramento, I was taken on an unplanned adventure of some notable cocktail bars. A favorite of theirs is The Snug; they thought we wouldn't be able to get in but thanks to a concert nearby they had free tables. It's primarily a cocktail bar, but I stuck with a beer. The decor is an awesome mix of contemporary, brick, old west, and 20s. It was a happy clientele too, with what seemed like a younger post-workday crowd. The server was also fantastic. If you like cocktail bars with character, this is worth the visit. read more
The Snug is a great little bar that I feel gets overlooked on R Street. It's tucked away and doesn't face the street, which may be why but that also adds to the charm of bringing your friends here! Snug is themed around a modernized interpretation of an English hunting lodge--it's dark, moody, and elegant. It has a charming front patio that is made quaint by the high walls and an outdoor fountain separating you from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the bars in the area. Upon entering, you are transported into a dimly lit romance story. The Snug specializes in delightful cocktails that will wow your taste buds! Their menu is both seasonal and rotates regularly so it's a fun treat to swing by and find out what their currently making. One of my favorite recurring items is what they call a Hoosker Doo, which is often a spirit and amaro or apperitif. You can't go wrong with the Carribean Princess! Definitely consider Snug on your next date night or want something a bit different! read more
The name really does say it all. Tables tucked in the back, cozy atmosphere, the kind of place that just feels like a good night out before you've even ordered anything. The menu is great on two levels, the aesthetic and the actual cocktail options. Wine was solid too so whatever you're in the mood for, they've got you. The staff was attentive and friendly and made some really good recommendations, which I always appreciate. We went on a busy night and even with a packed house we never waited too long for anything. I went there during Christmas time and it was decorated so cute! They have really good mocktails. The servers were amazing even with it been really busy. Highly recommend going! read more
I hadn't been to Snug in yeeears and I'm so glad I went back. It was a very spur of the moment choice too. Although it's small inside and they're very busy, there is no shortage of good staff that make sure you are taken care of! As someone who is sober also, I was SO happy to see that not only were their alcohol free drinks available, but they weren't ridiculously priced either like a lot of places now. And the drink I got, water wings, was so delicious. I would highly recommend and I definitely can't wait to go back to try even more of their drinks. I also like the option they give to just tell them what flavors you enjoy and they'll come up with something for you because that's pretty how my own drinks at home get made as well! Delicious drinks, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. Every cocktail we tried was excellent, and the space has such a cozy, upscale vibe without feeling pretentious. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're looking for a great cocktail bar in Midtown. read more
I googled "speakeasy" bars and this place popped up with great reviews so we had to check it out!! Warning: NOT a speakeasy! We walked in and tons on people there where we couldn't even get a table. The bar is actually very beautiful but pretty darn small. We eventually got a table and ordered drinks. The waitress/bartender was great and fully explained the drink options. I honestly don't know what the big deal is with this bar. The drink menu was adorable but otherwise the drinks are just ok...... we had all ICE in our drinks.... Hands down my favorite place in Sacramento. The craft cocktails are absolute perfection, and the ambiance is effortlessly cool. I've been several times and always love it. This visit wasn't too crowded when we arrived, so the service was especially attentive and quick. Always a great experience! Recommend! read more
Love love the decorations for Christmas and the cute glasses they serve your drinks in. We stayed long enough for the snow to come. The service was great and it was a fun time. We did the fast pass so we could get in right away and it was totally worth it! read more
SNUG bar has awesome Halloween decorations, is more on the fancy side yet, a spooky bar and serves great old-fashioned cocktails. Great bartenders and cocktails are served in awesome spooky mugs. I love the spooky horror-themed, eerie lighting and relaxing atmosphere. They don't serve any food, but you're more than welcome to bring your own. We loved it this place while visiting town for Aftershock. read more

Love coming here for happy hour and it's always a vibe! The staff is always so friendly, the space always feels inviting, and the cocktails are perfect. One of my favorite places to grab a cocktail and just hang out with friends. I've had more than I can count of the espresso martini and it's so good! (Try the penicillin and tell me what you think?) Plenty of seating inside and outside in the courtyard area. Great place! read more

Our daughters took us parents to one of their favorite hang out spots. Cute place and we were loving the vibes. Love the music that was playing. Our server was nice and he came around a few times to check on us. We had the Scruples drink. Very tasty! read more
This one will be short and sweet. Friendly staff, great outdoor seating (heated on colder nights), chill ambiance, and absolutely delicious craft cocktails. I don't believe it was on the menu, but they make the best Penicillin I've ever had. The other drinks that we had, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, were all fantastic. I'll absolutely be back. read more

Such a laid back atmosphere. I came in with a friend for a few drinks after dinner. I really enjoyed the couches in the back of the bar. There were several booths and the place actually had some great lighting. I got some kind of punch coctail and it was actually quite tasty. Then I ended up getting a few other drinks and just looking around, visiting with friends and enjoying the scenery. The place actually had exposed bricks and high celings. Perfect place for a date or a night out with the girls. The staff was extremely friendly and the waiters were extremely attentive. I will return for more good times while I am in sacramento. It's just a cute little find! Im so happy about this place. read more
The service and the venue were great. Very cutely decorated for Halloween and offered specialty cocktails in custom mugs and cups. The only downside was I didn't enjoy the drink I ordered. It was pretty pricey and it just didn't taste good. I tried the black tide (a mezcal drink) and the nocturna colada. The noctuna colada was rum, coconut, pineapple, passion fruit, coffee liqueur and cardamom bitters. It was not tasty in my opinion. It was very bitter and not fruity like a colada would be. My friend's drink was 70% ice. For $17 a drink, I expect something tasty! You can buy the mugs but I believe they were like $30-$40 which is kinda crazy! read more

First time here and the service was good, drinks were delicious! I tried the Moto Aquatica and that tasted just like a watermelon jolly rancher so good! I also got just a regular espresso martini you can't go wrong with that. read more

great drinks, great vibes. It's pretty small inside, but we made it work. But our bartender/server, Matt was super great! Came back consistently and kept checking in on us. The line can get real long, so just be prepared to wait outside in a queue. read more

Here's Chill vibes only at this cozy little corner bar. The specialty drinks are as creative as they are delicious, crafted with real care. Perfect spot for a date night or catching up with your girls over good conversation. You can keep it laid-back inside or head out to the patio for fresh air--and maybe even pair it with a smooth cigar. Cheers to a great find! read more
We love The Snug. We took my mom here since she was visiting from San Diego and she absolutely loved it! We went late at night and it was just dimly lit, friendly service, and amazing drinks. The bar is perfectly designed, I'm so inlove with the interior! read more

Drinks are delicious and change out seasonally! I love to ask for a recommend drink they make something special with the liquor of your choice if you ask! Service is great super quick and knowledgeable. It's a great place for an after work drink super dark and moody inside. read more

Yes, they do! They carry Seedlip for sure and are great at making mocktails! They also have a variety of tea and coffee!

Yes- there's a little patio like space but not fully outdoors

ive only ever been on weekday happy hours and there was no cover. not sure for late night weekends. call ahead!
Is it family friendly?
It's a BAR. With that said, if your "family" is 21 and over then, yes- It's family friendly.
Do they have food?
They don't but they encourage you to bring in food (uncle Vito or mas tacos right next door)
