    High noon and leggy lamp

I was curious to try the food but ran out of time so I grabbed a high noon and called it a day. Charming spot, tucked away in the alley behind firehouse. There's pool tables and service was cool. I'd be back again on a hot summer day.

Charming bar with a lot of character. Visit early on a friday night. Not a whole lot of people. There and one person manning the bar. He was in charge of drinks and food. Hughes also asked to play pool with one of the other patrons. He endeavoured to help everyone and was very friendly. Found this a very nice and relaxing place to have a drink. And at this time, we were able to sit down and have a nice conversation. Unfortunately, on this visit, the Pizza dough wasn't ready, so we didn't get food. However, I'm anticipating that next time. When we get a chance to try it.It is amazing. They have a full bar and bartender is very experienced.

The drink menu! They offer a Gibson Martini which is really easy to make but many bartenders confuse with a gimlet. Nice!

The Back Door Lounge is a classic Old Sacramento spot. It's been there as long as I can remember and hasn't changed much in all that time. It always reminded me of an old Rat Pack hangout even before I found it there's a lounge singer on the weekends. Maybe it's the wallpaper, or the wrought iron railings, but I always think of New Orleans when I walk in the door. It's dimly lit, has comfortable seating, a great jukebox, and lots of character. They staff is always friendly and happy to mix up a cocktail, pour beer, or serve a glass of wine. I'm not sure if they've always served food, but there are some hearty breakfast and lunch options on the menu. I can't say I've tried the food, but it sure looks good. Weather you stop in for a drink, or for a meal, you'll like the Back Door Lounge, cause it's the real deal!

You think of Old Sacramento as more a tourist area, but there are a lot of bars that cater mostly to locals. I visited "Back Door Lounge" for some day drinking after watching games at another place nearby. It was slow; but the bartender was hospitable and a good conversationalist. Drink prices were reasonable. The place is too neat to be a true dive bar; but it's got a little grit, just because the building is old.

This would be my second time eating here. For breakfast we got the back door breakfast with bacon. We also got the chicken fried steak with eggs. I've got to say that the chicken fried steak is incredible. So good. The potatoes had a good taste and the bacon was nice and crispy. All around a very good breakfast. I'm surprised more people don't come here for the food. It's a dive bar. Not huge inside but has lot's of tables and places to sit. It's in a alley near firehouse restaurant. The bartender was nice and the cook has skill. Whenever I go back to old sac this is the place I'm eating at or even to just get a drink. I hope more people give this place a try.

We were told this was a good breakfast spot. So we gave it a Ordered chicken and waffles, single waffle, biscuits (cheddar bay biscuits) and gravy, country fried steak, a couple more side of French toast and eggs and bacon meal. This if all for family of 6. Chicken and waffles were good. The chicken needed a little more flavoring. The breakfast combo was really good. Eggs cooked perfectly. Biscuits and gravy were pretty good, again gravy needed more flavoring. French toast was really good. Onion rings were good and so were the fries. Service was nice. The price was good. Nice hidden spot. 3.5 stars

Excited to try their menu items!!

So many updates from the old days but keeps the original flavor. They've added pool tables. And, best of all pizza hot from the oven.

The other coffee drink that surprised me was the Revolver. I always forget about what a good pairing orange and coffee is, and I'll be taking this one back home with me to try! But everything was great, as they provide what you need for a delicious meal. Ambiance- dark and cozy. They have an actual bar which is away from the grill for those choosing to imbibe and go. There's plenty of seasoning and condiments near the grill so you have to season it up there. Then place your meat on the grill and flip it when it's ready. We ordered the 12 oz. rib eye ($43), steamed prawns ($14.50), and a baked potato ($7.50). The rib eye looked really good, but I would have preferred an expert to season the steak for me. I added salt and pepper, and some garlic powder. The flavor turned out nicely, but the crown on top was the additional compound butter and blue cheese sauce we added. The prawns were small shrimps. Not sure why I was picturing large jumbo sized prawns. They tasted fine in garlic butter. The loaded baked potato was delicious. The staff were nice to bring extra toppings when requested. For cocktail, I was leaning towards the strawberry negroni, but the waitress recommended the Cucumber Gimlet, which I ordered. To me, it was okay, mainly because I wasn't crazy about tasting cucumbers and it was not too strong. It was light and refreshing. Since it was a celebration, I had a slice of lemon cake from Freeport Bakery. They put a candle in it and brought out the bubble gun. I came here for happy hour and ordered a handful of their items. Chicken Lumpia - over all I was pleased with how piping hot, fresh out the fryer it was. A bit thin for my linking but I appreciated there were 6 pieces. The sauce did not pair well. There was something off about it that isn't your typical sweet and sour; maybe the sauce was made in house. Sisig fries - decent portion of fries but fell short on the pork. Lacked an egg and didn't really meet the sisig flavors that I'm used to. You can definitely taste the zestiness of the lemon - nice touch, but other than that it's just fries with pork, red onion and green onion garnish. Hot dog - a $9 happy hour hot dog was the biggest disappointment. Sure the bread texture was good, toasted with a nice chew, but that was it. The dog itself was charged to my linking but it really didn't feel worth the money spent for its portion. Fries - 100% would get again. Cauliflower bites - I liked this too, flavor was good but such a small portion our table has to order two. Similar to the hotdog, not sure if it's worth the spend for the portion size. Despite the food not satisfying my cravings, the service was great. The young lady was helpful and was working hard taking orders, making drinks and delivering the food. The place was pretty busy at least the indoor area. Plenty of seating outside, but in this heat not sure if it's a good idea. Didn't see any misters but would be a nice touch to draw in more folks. Side note: some of the cocktails are premade, and can be overly sweet.
