I had a great time at Delta Bar & Grill with two of my friends last month. We were looking for a casual spot to kill some time, have a snack, and grab a drink and how often do you get to say you went to a bar or restaurant on a boat, on the Delta King no less?! The novelty factor alone is fun and the experience was better than I expected. We sat right at the bar where the bartender who I think might have also been the manager took great care of us. She had the perfect mix of professionalism and personality, keeping up with our banter ,and even joining in on the conversation. I loved chatting with her about national parks since she used to work for a concessionaire at Grand Teton! I ordered a mocktail that tasted just like a pina colada... very tropical, very sweet, and very refreshing while my friends went the more traditional route with a couple of beers and a soda pop. They also split the calamari which looked golden and appetizing, although I didn't have any. We visited at a random time of the day but that actually made it all the more enjoyable. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service attentive, and the setting quite unique. Next time I would love to sit out on the outer deck to enjoy the fresh air and take in the river views. All in all, Delta Bar & Grill is one of those places that feels like a hidden gem. It's quirky, memorable, and the kind of spot that makes you want to return with more friends just to share the experience. A unique find, indeed! read more

3.5 honestly but I feel like 3 represents my feelings on the matter much more accurately. In general, the most of the entrées were always bordering towards salty. My group had the Fettuccine, Linguini, and the calamari among other items and these were the biggest offenders. Though I enjoyed the flavor profile of the calamari, it def was over seasoned. Its fry was soft and there was little crunch. The linguini had nice flavor and a touch of heat, but again has the problem of over seasoning as well. I feel as the pasta was slightly overcooked as it often broke apart when I would try to mix it around. The short rib fettuccine has similar critiques. The SS bleu was surprisingly an outlier to the order, despite being the cheapest of the entrées, it was the most enjoyable. The fig jam complements the burger really well. Another companion of mine ordered the brick chicken, only critique was that the entrée describes a half chicken but it looked much smaller than that. The waiters provided excellent service despite us having a slight misunderstanding with the complementary sides for the kids menu. They even offered us it for free, but we decided against it as we were almost finished. Dining here seems to be more about the fact that you're dining on a boat rather than the experience itself. I'm also aware that they offer murder mystery dinners on the occasion here. The novelty of dining on a historical site is really cool but seeing other people have similar complaints about the food renders me unable to confidently recommend this place to people looking for great food. read more

We came here to take my mom to lunch when visiting the waterfront and old Sacramento. It's one of the few sit down places along the river. Nice old fashioned decor inside. We tried the prawn cocktail, chicken salad, fish and chips and the grilled chicken sandwich. Everything was good but the fried should be crispy. It's on a boat so it's unique I recommend it. Probably one of the worst dining experiences (can't even call it that because no one even came to take our order) I've experienced. We had a reservation at 5:30. We came on time and asked to sit upstairs cause it was a nice day out. Absolutely no one came and took our order. We even went up to a server to ask if we could get waited on. We sat for 30 minutes and no one even acknowledged our existence. Absolutely ridiculous. We left because we had plans afterwards, but in all, don't come here. Genuinely one of my favorite spots to go to. I live about 15 minutes away and I'm probably here every other weekend. Have yet to meet a bartender I didn't like. My current fave is Celeste. Food: Amazing. I've practically become addicted to their short rib fettuccine. Absolute 10/10 meal. The meat is ridiculously good and I'm typically not a short rib type of gal. Ambience: Great. Right on the river so you have a sweet, instagrammable view the entire time. Moreso during sunset. You get the best pictures from the highest floor on the boat closest to the gold bridge. I've gotten some REALLY good selfies there. Really good spot to bring a date too. Highly recommend walking around old town and then ending the night here. read more

I've been here about 3 times for breakfast and lunch with large groups. The service is always great and accommodating! The food I would say is pretty darn good as well! It's not food that you would make a trek across town for, but great if you're in the area and you get a great view! The prices are a little bit higher here but not overly pricey, I got a breakfast burrito that came with eggs, cheese, potatoes, and sausage. Also came with sour cream, guacamole, and pico for $15. Not bad! I enjoyed it. When I was here for lunch I got the fish and chips, I remember the French fries being super good! Worth a stop if you're in old town! read more

The food was fabulous. My rare steak was full of amazing flavor, and my wife's salad was equally delightful. Our server, Sladjana, was attentive and always wore a smile. The ambiance was peaceful and quiet, even though the Delta King's website said they were fully booked and wouldn't allow reservations. What's not to love? It's aboard an old paddle boat with a gracious old fashioned linen tablecloth dining area, and window views of the Sacramento River. Service is friendly yet professional. The food is good, not outstanding but good. We came for a late lunch. We had a short 10 minute wait while they prepared a table for us at a window. Our waiter offered drinks right away and our food order was taken when he brought our drinks. There was a bit of a wait until our food came, but they were fairly busy. My Shrimp Louis was very good. The portion of shrimp was very generous and they tasted very fresh. The shrimp was accompanied by sweet cherry tomatoes, hard boiled egg, and crisp - tender asperagus all arranged on a bed of Romain lettuce with a light coating of creamy Louis dressing. My husband's fish and chips were a bit of a disappointment. He said they were dry and did not have a lot of flavor. They were served with a mayonnaise based sauce, he prefers them with traditional vinegar. They weren't bad, just not great. The otherwise excellent service was mared by a very long wait to get our check. It is a nice choice and a great alternative to the more casual lunch options in Old Sacramento. Large party came in for lunch we many multiple food items, salad was mostly core of lettuce very unappetizing, spicy chicken sandwich was not spicy and very bland, not to mention the smallest piece of chicken on a oversized bun. Even the kids grilled cheese was lacking cheese. Chicken tenders were out of a frozen bag. Only two things that the whole group liked was the chewy Calamari appetizer and the French fries. Waiter wasn't very attentive with an empty section. When I tell you we paid our bill in full and half of us went down the street to eat a burger because of the lack of food and food that was there was tasteless I kid you not. Wanted to take the wife out for a nice dinner plus great surroundings , and this place fit the bill : Food - I had the pork chop which was very good 8/10 (a sauce that they topped it with was kinda questionable) Wife had the salmon and she said it was very good 8/10 (I didn't have any but the presentation was a bit lackluster) Service - I'd say that was the IT factor that the place kinda missed the 5th star , the service wasn't bad , but wasn't great either , our waiter was ok , we didn't get the disdain that a DMV employee gives its customers but we didn't get the ooolalal that woulda made this an exceptional dinner . I will say the bartender Jacob was awesome though and the restaurant manager was very good too (he came by to shoot the breeze with us ) . What type of date vibe are you looking for - sit by the freeway and get hit up for cigarettes or sip mimosas on the water? This is the latter. Old Sac's got it all and this place is the place you go when you want to show your guests that Sac isn't scary. Okay, okay, seagulls can be a little scary, but they don't seem to like nicoise salads much. Yelp is asking how the service was, but honestly I don't remember any of the servers. Please, if you go, do yourself a favor and order something off of the signature cocktails menu. The food is really good, but the drinks are insane! My favorite is the 'chi chi' - a pineapple, coconut cream and vodka concoction served in a pineapple glass! The coconut cream is made in house with a frothed like consistency and it's like nothing I've ever tasted. If you enjoy Mai tais and pina coladas definitely give it a try. They had another cucumber and gin drink that's made with homemade cucumber syrup that was also delicious. As far as food goes, service can be slow on busy nights. Friday night, friend and i decided to have dinner here prior to our movie, " Delta Bar & Grill," which is on the Delta King. Place opens at 5 pm, we were like the second customers there, so we decided to sit outside, at the time it was nice warm, ( they have roll down shades if needed for the sun ) we were seated and our waitress was, " Becca." She was awesome.....within 30 min customers starting arriving, started filling up. We ordered drinks, and as appetizers, beet salad, and Caesar salad. Salads brought out in a timely manner, both salads were very good! I ordered the Pan roasted Norwegian salmon, with mashed potatoes, and Broccoli florets and my friend ordered the Grilled New York steak with mashed potatoes and veggies. The salmon came out perfect along with the New York steak done the way it was ordered, mashed potatoes and all veggies were very good! Becca was awesome, The ambience was kind of nice, walking onto the Delta King, then walking up to the top outdoor seating area. You could see the tower bridge, and of coarse the Sacramento river. Delta King, Old Sacramento: 14 March 2019 We visited Old Sacramento to celebrate my birthday. While there, we went for Happy Hour and ate dinner at Delta King. HAPPY HOUR: Lamb slider: Lamb, American Kobe Beef, Harrisa Aioli, Apricot Chutney, Brioche Buns. Every bite I sank my teeth into was a 'hurrah'. Loved it. (5 of 5). Roasted Eggplant Hummus: Served with grilled naan bread. I did not try this this so cannot give my rating - but I heard this was really good. DINNER: Roasted Beet Salad: Arugula, Candied Pecans, Laura Chanel Goat Cheese, Honey Dijon Vinaigrette danced together in this dish. The sweet vinaigrette soon drowns the slightly bitter arugula. All is forgiven. (4 of 5) Veal Shank Osso Buco: This classic Milanese dish was braised in a hearty wine and vegetable-based sauce. The marrow in the shank bones bathes everything in its rich flavor as it renders during the braise, while a bright mixture of parsley, lemon zest, and garlic finishes the dish off. It may have been my sensitive palate, but I felt the veal was over-seasoned - though the meat was quite tender. No knife required. (3.5 of 5) Braised Short Rib Fettuccini: Natural Jus Reduction, Trumpet Royale and Crimini Mushrooms, Pecorino Romano Cheese, Baby Arugula. I had a small bite of this dish - and though it was quite tasty, I felt that richness of the cheese had overpowered the entire plate. Great atmosphere, great views, great food. All around is good. On occasion, service is a bit slow, but they get busy. Lots of food choices that are basic. We had a party of 8 and all went well. I prefer to sit outside in the Fall and Spring. Parking can be tricky so use the valet service or park in the parking garage. read more

Went here for a friend's 28th birthday dinner on a Saturday and it definitely surpassed my expectations. We made a reservation but it wasn't full at all when we got there so we sat in the upstairs area on the boat. The view outside is pretty gorgeous with all the boat lights on. Park on the streets of Old Sac, but make sure there's no meters or anything (totally got a $40 parking ticket because I didn't notice the meter, noob Stockton girl here...) I got the mushroom risotto and my friend got the steak with squash risotto and BOTH WERE BOMB. I wasn't looking at prices since I was ready to drop whatever $$ for my friend's birthday, but the total bill for three of us was $150 but this was with a crap ton of drinks (three purple hooters, a margarita, a mule, 4 paradise drinks, etc.) There's this one waiter/bartender that makes AN AMAZING PURPLE HOOTER - def order it, it doesn't taste like vodka at all and the raspberry isn't overwhelming. There's also decent live music on Saturday nights, the girl who plays there sets a really good vibe on the boat. Vibes can be dressy or casual, you'll fit in. The deck outside is really fun, it's nice on the water if you want to take your drink outside. Service was great, waters were kept filled the whole night, the booth seating is really nice, and my friend got this delicious free chocolate cake since it was her birthday. Overall, prepare to drop some money but it'll be great - drinks are good and service is what I expect - everyone needs a $$ out once in a while. read more
