Revival burger: solid burger, but definitely has some heat from the aioli and bacon jam. Lobster roll: again tasty and very well priced! When I was staying at the Kimpton Sawyer hotel during my recent staycations, I ate most of my meals at the Revival. Their happy hours appetizers are half price all day on Sunday and designated happy hours on weekdays too. at the Revival restaurant. They served free appetizer (one chosen appetizer a day) at the hotel lobby during the social hours. They also do a free mixology class for hotel guests every day. It's a fun class. And it's nice to sit by the pool at night, especially by the fire pits and watching the sunset. Their breakfasts, lunches and dinners are solid. I really enjoyed their dishes. The ambiance is definitely one of this restaurant's highlights. It's a great spot for a date, with a beautiful interior and a nice view overlooking the hotel pool. Unfortunately, our dinner experience was disappointing because of repeated mistakes from the kitchen. Our waitress was wonderful and did everything she could to make things right, but there were so many issues with our order that it became difficult to fully enjoy the meal. We started with the blistered shishitos, which were solid. They use larger shishito peppers than what I've typically seen at other restaurants, and they were nicely prepared. Next was the seasonal stone fruit salad, which tasted great, but it arrived without the burrata. When we asked about it, our waitress checked with the kitchen and came back to let us know they had run out of burrata and provided a substitution of a different cheese. I appreciated her honesty and effort, but I wish the kitchen had been upfront about the situation instead of serving the dish without mentioning it, hoping that I wouldn't notice and charge me full price for the salad. The lobster rolls were another letdown. They arrived without the chive aioli, and the rolls themselves were not that great. The butter was served on the side, which also felt a bit odd. The standout dish of the night was the Revival Burger. We ordered it medium-rare, but it came out closer to medium-well. Even so, it was still flavorful and probably the best thing we ordered. We also agreed to pay an extra $5 for the truffle fries, but regular fries arrived instead. By that point, I felt bad asking our waitress to make yet another trip back to the kitchen, so I just asked her to remove the truffle fry upcharge from the bill. The Midsummer Melon cocktail was generously sized, refreshing, and enjoyable, although we honestly wondered whether it contained much alcohol since neither of us felt much from it. To the restaurant's credit, our waitress handled every issue professionally and graciously. She apologized throughout the meal and ultimately removed the cost of one appetizer from our bill to make up for the repeated mistakes, which I appreciated. While the service at the table was great, the number of kitchen errors--from missing ingredients and incorrect substitutions to forgotten sauces, an overcooked burger, and the wrong fries--made the overall experience frustrating. Because of the lack of consistency and attention to detail from the kitchen, I don't think I'd return, despite the lovely atmosphere and excellent service from our waitress. read more

Went to Revival hoping for a solid craft cocktail, big mistake. Sat at the bar and ordered a Crystal Plumed Bird and Shishito Peppers off their Golden Hour menu. I stay at the hotel pretty often, but because of the poor reviews and a menu that never looks that appealing, I usually stay away. Decided to give it a shot, big mistake! When my drink came out, it looked like a snow cone a glass completely packed with ice and maybe one ounce of liquor. Two sips, gone. I asked the bartender if they do smaller pours for happy hour, and she just shrugged and said, "No, that's the way it is," with zero effort or attitude that said she cared. Meanwhile, the bartenders one of them name started with T were too busy gossiping about customers from the night before instead of actually paying attention to the people sitting in front of them. Super unprofessional. And to top it all off, the Golden Hour drink that should've been $12 was charged at the full $16. Between the smallest drink I've ever been served, bad service, and being overcharged this place has completely gone downhill. Won't be coming back. read more

Revival is one of few rooftop bars in Sacramento, and it's a fun spot to enjoy a casual happy hour! I recently stopped by for Sunset Sips and had a reservation, although I don't think it's needed during the slower summer season. Our server was very pleasant, and when I asked about the Sunset Sips series, she was able to give me the run down. I wish that Revival carried a print menu since that would've helped with the promotion. I ended up ordering the "Penthouse and Prosper", which is Revival's take on a "Millionaire Margarita." It was so good, well balanced, and only $9! Besides the Sunset Sips series, Revival also has a "Golden Hour" menu, which we ordered a couple more drinks and food off of. I'd recommend passing on the food, but think the drink deals are a steal considering standard prices. Overall, fun spot to enjoy a well crafted cocktail and unbeatable views of DOCO! read more

We came into Revival at the Sawyer Hotel around 8:30 PM and the place wasn't very busy. We were seated right away and but wasn't given a warm welcoming, which was a meh start to our visit. The space itself is really nice. The theme, decor, and overall vibe are great, especially for a first visit. After sitting down, we waited about 15 to 20 minutes without any service. We were hoping to grab a couple drinks and some snacks before calling it a night. Since it was our first time there, we were excited to check it out. Our server finally came by around 8:50 and asked for our drink order. When we tried to order food, she told us the kitchen was already closed. That was really confusing, especially when she also said they close at 10. Being told we could not order food before 9 PM was disappointing. I understand people want to go home, but it felt frustrating that there was no flexibility at all. Instead, we were offered beer chips, which were fine, but not the food we were looking for. The drinks and chips were okay, but around 9:05 they came around and started taking all the table lamps off the tables. That really threw me off. It instantly got darker and no explanation was given. They just took the lamp and moved on. Again, this place closes at 10, so it felt very rushed and uncomfortable. Our server was nice, but she barely checked on us. She seemed to be the only one serving about five tables, which should be manageable, unless she was also covering the bar. Either way, the service felt lacking. We were excited to head to Revival to celebrate a birthday tonight. We made a reservation online for 4pm for an outdoor spot. We arrived right as they opened at 4pm and were the first guests in. They informed us there was no outdoor seating until 7pm, which was one of my main reasons we chose this spot. We were seated inside which was still beautiful and comfortable. We ordered within the first five minutes, still the only people to have ordered and our drinks took 32 minutes to come out. The manager noticed, and told us they were on their way. But a little too late. We ordered three cocktails and a glass of wine, they were out of the first two wines I requested. After the long delay they did give a generous wine pour. Two of the three cocktails were really good, the third was very bad and was almost untouched. We saw our server twice - to take our order and give us the bill. Someone else delivered our drinks. All in all bad service. The manager tried, but didn't make enough of an effort to make up for the experience. This is my second time coming to Revival, but first time trying their food and drinks. Revival is located inside the Sawyer Hotel which is across from Golden 1. The views are so nice, being a rooftop bar, but also having an indoor area. I ordered the flourless chocolate cake as well as the White Velvet drink. The White Velet had coding blanco, coconut, lime juice, pomegranate, and cointreau. I was not the biggest fan of the taste of the drink, although I always appreciate drinks with pebble ice. The chocolate cake was okay, however, the service was very slow, and for the price, I expected the slice to be a little bigger. I would recommend Revival just for the great views. read more

"I am a Latino American, and I visited the restaurant with my younger cousin. The waitress requested that a card be kept on file. I informed her that we would be paying in cash and offered to still provide a card if needed. The waitress then proceeded to request that she retain my cousin's personal California driver's license. I have dined here many times and have never experienced this type of issue. When I inquired with the manager, Tony, he stated that it was a form of 'collateral.' I then asked another staff member, Pete, whether this was a normal procedure, and he stated that he was 'not aware of such a protocol.' Following this interaction, the manager's demeanor became hostile. Due to the situation, I requested that our order be canceled and returned. Despite this request, the manager insisted that we still pay for the burger even though we had already asked to cancel the order. This experience was concerning and unprofessional. Worst service in Sacramento. I reserved a table for 4 hoping that this would reduce our wait time but I was wrong. We got sat by the girl at the door who said "your server will be right with you". After about 20 minutes of waiting my husband and I decided to talk to the bar behind where we were sitting to grab drinks for our table. While waiting at the bar I asked a server if we had to wait at the bar even if we were sat at a table, they responded "no we will send someone to you, go take a seat", we went and sat back down to wait. After another 15 minutes of waiting and watching employees pass by we realized we were not going to be served. Other groups began to arrive and were being served and waited on all while we watched. I waved another employee down and said "hey we haven't had our order taken at all" she said "oh let me send someone" and welp that someone never came. My first time experience here was horrible and I will never return. Did not get a chance to even try a drink or order food. The best part about this experience was the valet service who was very attentive. If you want to wait 30+ minutes to be served or not be served here, don't come. read more

My girlfriend was visiting from AZ and staying at the Kimpton Sawyer hotel. I wasn't able to eat at this place cause when I made reservations, it didn't say anything about a private party. The host also never mentioned about a (semi) private party so when they seated us outside, it was as if we were going to go night swimming. It was dark, like really dark, and they expected us to eat at a "table" meant for drinks that was almost down to our shins? Are you kidding me? How the heck can anyone eat a salad or an entree when you practically have to do a vinyasa just to take a bite of your food. I asked to be seated inside but said that the tables were reserved all night but hardly anyone at the party was sitting at the tables--they were all hovered at the bar. Instead of being greeted I was asked for Identification. ( my Girlfriends I was meeting did not have to show ID). Upon opening my purse I realized I didn't have my Drivers License. I told the Bartender I have a digital copy and asked if she would accept this. She said she was ok with it but would need to ask her manager. The Manager couldn't even give me the decency of a conversation, she just said no and looked down I told the bartender I didn't know I needed Identification to Dine here on a Wednesday afternoon. So I left. I totally understand it's on me for not having my ID, however, the rudeness from the waitress was unreal. The place down the street happily took the digital copy of my identification - so I don't get the issue to eat at a restaurant. I won't be back here or ever to stay at the Kimpton. What a fun spot! I came here to grab a drink with a friend and it was both our our first times. It's pretty easy to get to. There is an elevator in the Sawyer lobby right at the entrance, and you take it to the thirst floor to get to Revival. Upon arrival we were greeted by a hostess. We had a reservation so we had no waiting period. We were seated at a booth, and helped within five minutes. The cocktails are pretty pricey ($18 each for the Pink Panthers). although, they are super tasty! We loved the Pink Panthers. It does have egg in it which I thought was interesting. The ambience is truly unmatched. There is a beautiful view of DOCO, and huge pool, vibey lighting, good music, and beautiful decor. It's an indoor-outdoor set-up, so the patio was partially covered and partially not. I love it. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu! read more

Good: Drinks and ambience were really good. We were able to get in and seated without an issue. Bad: When we ordered, they took and held onto a credit card to start a tab (no issue there, it common). BUT, before they even delivered the drinks, they already charged my credit card for our drinks. I've never had that happen at a bar before. Second BAD thing, when we were given the bill, they automatically added a 20% gratuity to the bill. I usually tip 20% anyway but we were never advised of the automatic 20% and the bill never listed "Gratuity" as a line item. The bill just had a line item for "subtotal" and "table total". The way the present the bill and credit card receipt, I'm sure a lot of people tip another 18-20% not knowing, especially if they have been drinking. Super shady business practice. Hip bar upstairs at the Sawyer Hotel across from Golden One Arena is a perfect spot to grab a drink before the game. You take the elevator up to the third floor from the hotel lobby. There is an expansive pool deck with lounge chairs and fire pits overlooking DoCo Plaza and the Arena. They serve plastic cups so you can take your drinks outside. Bar and outdoor seating is open, table seating inside is hosted. We ate half dozen oysters and drank a few adult beverages. Sonya assisted us at the bar and was very helpful. On game nights they have a few specialty purple cocktails made with lavender syrup - go Kings! read more
