We came into The Cabin for a pre-dinner drink and we were not disappointed! The interior was awesome like an actual log cabin. The drinks were AWESOME. I don't typically like creamy alcohol, but I couldn't pass up trying the Gimme S'more cocktail - it was delightful. Not too strong with any of the flavors, they were balanced really well! The bartender even went slow so I could record a video of the flaming marshmallow - it was so cool and definitely reminded me of camping. Loved the vibe here! Entering The Cabin was like walking into a ski lodge or cabin in Tahoe. The decor featured snow shoes, skis, antlers, Christmas trees, a fake fireplace, etc. I especially loved the bar itself, which had tree-stump slices on the ceiling. It wasn't super busy on a Saturday evening, and felt cozy and intimate. The most popular drink seemed to be the Gimme S'more, which looked awesome, but we decided not to get something super sweet/heavy before a concert. I asked the bartender if he could make me a drink without alcohol, and he didn't seem thrilled with the request. He said they couldn't make any mocktails, but he could do a Cherry Limeade, so I settled for that. Unfortunately, it tasted horrible. My friends both tried it as well, and agreed it was both too sweet and too sour. I only ended up taking two sips before I gave up on it. The cocktails my friends got were pretty good, including the Pearl and another drink with mezcal. Which by definition, would not be old fashioned I suppose. Stabbin' Cabin, $12: Bulleit Bourbon, Blackberry, Lemon, Soda. This was way too syrupy sweet. I wish I had asked the bartender for a replacement, but that's my own confidence problem! This drink alone should've taken another star off, but the atmosphere really is cute. We had so much fun at the Cabin! This is a popular spot in Midtown and it can get pretty packed at peak hours. Our preference is to go when it's not busy and enjoy a few drinks at the bar. On our last visit we had the bartender surprise us with some drinks and everything we tried was delicious. Aside from some unique drinks on the menu the decor is AMAZING! I love the ceilings and all the decorations. You really feel like you're in a fancy lodge. Add their Gimme S'more cocktail, with vodka, chocolate, cream & a flaming marshmallow really completes the experience. Often discussed but never visited, I found myself finally here in a drunken but still coherent stare at The Cabin. Not surprisingly it was pretty busy this past Saturday night but we were able to fit ourself into seating in the back near the restrooms. This place really did have the cabin vibe and felt like I might have been in a bar in Sierra Nevada. The windows out front opened up to let air in but there wasn't too much circulation toward the back. Also the music was LOUD that it wasn't really a place meant to have a quiet personal conversation. Still, great for a visit as a stop on your bar crawl throughout midtown. Onto the drinks, I mostly find myself with a cabin old fashion in my hands which was great and well made with the brown butter adding a nice sweet smell and taste to the beverage. Some of the others in a party also enjoyed the Stabbin Cabin and the Gimme s'more. Only real issue is that they didn't toast the marshmallows on my lovely wife's drink. It was quite a busy and they had moved on so quickly that I wasn't able to get them to come back but I did see they toasted this drink generally. Enjoyed this place quite a bit but I can imagine it being even better on a non-Saturday night with a little afternoon light to enjoy the ambiance. Worth a visit either way! read more

As other Yelpers have already mentioned, "The Cabin" is definitely a cozy spot. It also gives you that feeling as if you are tucked away in the woods surrounded by pine trees, a large dusting of snow, cold air, and grizzly bears. But since Midtown Sacramento doesn't incorporate any of those things, they brought all of that packed in this unique bar. Located directly on 21st St. and in between L St. & Capitol Ave., The Cabin has been in business since early-2019. This place has very generous hours of operation being opened Monday through Thursday from 3pm-2am and Friday through Sunday from 12pm-2am. Keep in mind that this place is strictly a bar as they do not serve food of any kind. They do however have a sizable indoor area (that I'll get into later) while constructing a very large wooden outdoor patio area sometime in 2020 since many businesses were forced to only serve menu items outdoors due to the pandemic. But the interior to this place is the real winner. All of the walls surrounding this place are of real logs that truly give you that authentic 'cabin' feel to it. Additionally, there is a river-rock fireplace towards the entrance, taxidermy that is evident, classic old-school picture frames, redwood countertops, lantern-style light fixtures, and much of the furniture throughout all being handmade. Even the staff were wearing plaid shirts with a drink menu that felt as if I were in the lone woods with wolves howling in the distant horizon. The service is great here as I was helped within minutes; even during my most recent visit during the evening of Saturday 5/28/2022 at around 10:30pm. They serve a least 8 different beers on tap while including an eclectic assortment of house cocktails. This includes a few of their popular libations including the "Cabin Mule", "Gimme S'more", "Sweater Weather", and "Deer in the Headlights". Everything is executed very well and this is as close to the Rocky Mountains as you will get, at least in Sacramento. All in all, "The Cabin" is an excellent bar with plenty of seating area inside and out. The vintage amber-colored lighting gives you that old, nostalgic feel to it. There is, however only one restroom (that is gender optional) so it can be a bit of a wait especially during the late night hours. With that said and done, I am going to give The Cabin in Midtown Sacramento a respectable four-star rating. read more

The Cabin is a great addition to the Midtown Sacramento scene. This modern lodge style bar is somehow both large and cozy at the same time tucked off 21st Street just south of L. There is a small outdoor seating area along the sidewalk, but most of the establishment is inside. Parking is decent in the area, but please don't drive to a bar. The interior of The Cabin is the real star. You are instantly transported to a mountain lodge with wood paneling and an interesting log ceiling. All the decorations make you feel like you're in a cute Airbnb in Tahoe. Hidden in the décor are a few televisions that allow you to track the game while pretending to talk to your date. Seating at the bar actually has padded seats, although a lot of the other seating is hard wood. But, you're here for some flavored ethanol. That is one of the fun parts of The Cabin. They are known for their unique cocktails which are good and expensive, but they also have a full bar and many other options. It is a little weird to come here when it is very hot outside, but this place must really shine in February when all the dry January people are cold and thirsty. I had a Northstar which was a gin and Amaro cocktail that really packed a punch. Probably should have tried the campfire cocktail with a Lactaid garnish. There were only a few people in the place, so I do not know how much noise this place echoes on a packed night. All that wood may either help or hurt. The place looks like a fun option as the many rooms can encourage mixing for a few hours. Prices are steep, but everything is expensive these days. The Cabin is cheaper than a room in Tahoe though. Sacramento needs a place like The Cabin. This would be a great place to end the night actually, but hitting them up anytime would work. read more

I love the wood cabin theme interior. The layout is a bit strange because it's too easy to block the walkways when it gets crowded, but this is a fairly large space with plenty of seating for what it is.
