I really enjoyed this place! The food, the service, the cocktails. Everything was top notch. This place actually has a taste and a feel of a very high end restaurant but the prices are manageable. It's on my to go list, so I will definitely be coming back.

This place never disappoints!!! The bartender is the best part of this experience!! So personable and fantastic cocktails. If you can please do happy hour here and the duck fat popcorn, hoisin glazed chicken, the miso deviled eggs, and much, much more!!

Hawks Provisions is a tiny, yet delicious, little shop, separate from Hawk's Public House. They offer coffee, tea, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches, as well as lunch items...salads, soups, and sandwiches. Their fried chicken sandwich ($9) is the winning ticket item to order! It comes with spicy slaw, dill pickles, and aioli, on an acme baguette. It is excellent! I also tried their soup of the day, which happened to be mushroom. It was extremely good! The flavor of the mushroom was prominent and simply delicious! The service was okay...I didn't feel a whole lot of warmth coming from the staff, but it wasn't awful as well. Hawks Provisions has indoor and outdoor seating, but it is extremely limited. It seems more like a to-go shop than an actual sit-down place. Definitely give their fried chicken sandwich a try if you get a chance.

    Fried chicken sandwich. Amazing....

WOW. That fried chicken sandwich......... was seriously so good. I'm getting extra pickled onions next time!!!!!! They are SO good! Best fried chicken sandwich in Sac?? I think it's hard for this sandwich to have a contender!! We came near the end of their very short open hours (my only complaint!). They gave us free snickerdoodles as they were closing, which was so nice! I didn't expect anything from that snickerdoodle as I don't generally like them... but holy cow. It has caramel inside of it and it was SUPER delicious!!! If you can make it to the rare times that they're open, I highly recommend it! I want to come try the roast beef sandwich soon!

UPDATE: I am now giving Hawks my full 5 stars! I've been been a patron of theirs since they opened and I am more & more impressed by their ability to add new items to their menu and their stellar service. Hawks recently added ice cream and it's welcoming on the hot summer afternoons. A current favorite of mine is the caramel latte in the morning and salad & chicken for lunch. All their food is always fresh and consistently good! I am equally happy with their genuinely friendly service and if there's something amiss, they will make it right without thinking twice. Previous Review: While walking down Alhambra for my lunchtime walk, I noticed a sign that the Provisions side of Hawks is now open. There's a severe drought of eateries in midtown and for those of us working hard throughout the week, we become lions during lunch and frantically search where our meal will come from. Like a Hawk, I swooped in to grab my meal. There are two sides of Hawks: Provisions and Public House. Provisions is the sidewalk to-go cafe with breakfast, sandwich, salad, and confections. I met Mike the co-owner and he was friendly, informative, and said the food is all made in-house. I had the Croque Monsieur Sandwich (think fancy Grilled Ham and Cheese sandwich but with: Gruyere Cheese and Bechamel). I'm glad I took a picture before I started eating it because I found myself stuffing my mouth with the delicious french sandwich. The sandwich was crunchy on the edges and soft throughout the rest. The ham was salty as expected as with most hams and I was initially afraid it was going to be too salty. As I ate the sandwich, I was pleased that the salt did not overpower the sandwich and provided me a satisfying meal. For my afternoon snack, I was equally impressed with their coffee cake. Generally only the top of the cake has the star ingredients of crumbs, cinnamon, and nuts. Hawk's coffee cake had peeks and valleys - the toppings were infused during baking and I found myself, again aggressively finishing my snack. The price is higher but well worth the quality. I can see myself eating here frequently and making it part of my weekly eateries.

Found this little gem! Greeted with a smile, great customer service! I ordered the provision veggie sandwich and a delicious, freshly made lemonade. The bread was the cherry on top, it was airy and crunchy, just perfect. It is cozy, I don't really recommend eating inside, it can get quite crowded. I would eat outside on cute little patio. Overall great place, give it a try.

Work training nearby 4 and half stars steered me here walked myself over Busy little place lunch rush of to-go orders don't crank out too fast I sat in corner lone table comfortable enough to have lunch All other tables would be awkward to sit at not recommended Counter service fine everyone here had to wait girl friendly enough I heart fried chicken reviews rave about sandwich was a natural choice The pre-fried chicken I watched them place in oven reheated for my meal Not even fresh fried? I was quite disappointed taste confirms my doubts Nine dollar sandwich heated chicken, slaw, pickles on a standard bun Came with nothing else it didn't taste bad at all just nothing special Even if fresh fried flavor profile or texture in no way stood out Soup was posole saw someone asked for sample thought I would asked too But they were busy and after tasting sandwich I didn't bother The Hawks Public House looked promising for nice meal now I'm hesitant Biggest plus might be convenient parking lot more rare round these parts

Fantastic Spot To "Pregame" Shows @ Goldfields Next Door…read more SITREP We descended upon the Tack Room an hour before our show for "Ally The Piper" (both the classical AND heavy metal bagpiper extraordinaire) began her show! THE SETUP Goldfields is a charming, rustic country-western stylized saloon that serves up beer at good prices. But we weren't interested in beer and wanted quality cocktails. Hence, our pivot next door to the Tack Room! QUALITY COCKTAILS & DRINKS! The Tack Room specializes an amazing array of martinis, bourbons, and other deLISH cocktail drinks at really really reasonable prices! So this was an excellent choice to chill, thus avoiding the tremendous *noise pollution* we were immediately subjected to upon entering Goldfields an hour later for our show. THE LOWDOWN This is a quality bar with plenty of comfortable seating to relax and have quiet, intimate conversations. The highlight was the espresso martini, which is among the best I've had. It was reminiscent of the one I had at the Starbucks Roastery in NYC, which is high praise. The other coffee drink that surprised me was the Revolver. I always forget about what a good pairing orange and coffee is, and I'll be taking this one back home with me to try! Every other drink we tried was delicious in some unique way. The Pho drink was savory and surprising, the New York Sour was rich and flavorful, and the Practical Move was refreshing. Will definitely return here after dinner to sip an espresso martini for dessert!

Their menu is both seasonal and rotates regularly so it's a fun treat to swing by and find out what their currently making. But everything was great, as they provide what you need for a delicious meal. Ambiance- dark and cozy. They have an actual bar which is away from the grill for those choosing to imbibe and go. We got introduced to The Butterscotch Den by a couple of lawyers who evidently know the 'hood. Been a while since I've lived/worked in town so they are a great resource to fun places like this. Drinks are delicious. I ordered a couple different sauces to go with our large steak which we split. Even having split the steak, we brought some home. You cook your own so be okay with possibly not sitting the entire time. On the side of the grill are various accoutrements for your steak. Assorted flavored salts as well as regular salt and pepper were included with the experience. You could also order compound butter for a small fee but we didn't. Might want to try a much more budget friendly hot dog or even a sausage next time. Try it out for happy hour! Very friendly drink list.

I made a reservation for 4 PM, right when they opened, so we were some of the first guests there. The place itself was really nice, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. They're open from 4 PM to 1 AM and have TWO happy hours--4-6 PM and again from 10 PM until close, with the same happy hour menu. Twice the fun! The food menu is short and sweet, and the concept is definitely different. There's a community grill in the middle of the room where you cook your own proteins. The menu even gives you instructions on how to cook each protein, which I thought was a nice touch. Since we arrived early, we were lucky enough to have the grill all to ourselves. It definitely started getting busier closer to the time we were leaving. I ordered the Den Burger and shrimp cocktail. The burger came with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. It was decent, although the bun seemed a little stale. My daughter also ordered the Den Burger with a loaded baked potato, while her boyfriend had the 8 oz. steak, dinner rolls, and fries. They have a pretty nice selection of cocktails, although the drink menu personally didn't appeal to me much. My daughter and her boyfriend each ordered a few of the tequila, lime, pomegranate, and bitters cocktails, while I kept it simple with a Tito's soda with bitters. In my opinion, the drinks were a little overpriced for what they were. Overall, I'm glad I checked this place off my list. It was definitely an experience, and I enjoyed the ambiance, friendly service, and unique cook-your-own-food concept. I wouldn't necessarily return specifically for the food, but I could see myself coming back for the atmosphere, drinks, and experience--especially when looking for an interesting spot in Oak Park.

Im a bit disappointed in the happy hour food…read more I've been here several times for their drinks, but something just didn't click in my most recent visit. I came here for happy hour and ordered a handful of their items. Chicken Lumpia - over all I was pleased with how piping hot, fresh out the fryer it was. A bit thin for my linking but I appreciated there were 6 pieces. The sauce did not pair well. There was something off about it that isn't your typical sweet and sour; maybe the sauce was made in house. Sisig fries - decent portion of fries but fell short on the pork. Lacked an egg and didn't really meet the sisig flavors that I'm used to. You can definitely taste the zestiness of the lemon - nice touch, but other than that it's just fries with pork, red onion and green onion garnish. Hot dog - a $9 happy hour hot dog was the biggest disappointment. Sure the bread texture was good, toasted with a nice chew, but that was it. The dog itself was charged to my linking but it really didn't feel worth the money spent for its portion. Fries - 100% would get again. Cauliflower bites - I liked this too, flavor was good but such a small portion our table has to order two. Similar to the hotdog, not sure if it's worth the spend for the portion size. Despite the food not satisfying my cravings, the service was great. The young lady was helpful and was working hard taking orders, making drinks and delivering the food. The place was pretty busy at least the indoor area. Plenty of seating outside, but in this heat not sure if it's a good idea. Didn't see any misters but would be a nice touch to draw in more folks. Side note: some of the cocktails are premade, and can be overly sweet.
