    Oysters

My friends and I stopped by here after a night out around P St. I'm very glad we decided to stop by because I discovered they had oysters! My favorite menu item ever. The mignonette served with the oysters was so savory and delicious. The oysters were cold and fresh. We also tried the Mac and cheese and it tasted super yummy! Definitely had that homemade feel. I will absolutely be back. They have $2.5 oysters during the week so you know I'll be there!

Stopped by for a late night snack with some friends. I wasn't super hungry, so I just got an order of the baked mac and cheese. There were very few other customers when we came in so our food came out quickly! I was completely blown away by the mac. It was the perfect mix of cheesy and crispy, and though the portion was small, it was super satisfying. I enjoyed the variety in seating arrangements too - perfect for groups of all sizes!

Urban Roots Brewing was my favorite brewery experience of my recent trip to Sacramento. I was pleasantly surprised that a local friend had me meet him at Bawk!, which is equal parts Urban Roots taproom and chicken joint. It's in a fun area of town filled with younger skewed bars and concert venues. The bar feels old but modern at the same time. We sat at the bar, my friends had cocktails but I stuck to some new beers for me that I had missed at the main brewery. The bartender was extra friendly with us during our visit. Whether or not you've been to their main location, this one is worth a visit on its own!

I really enjoyed how pleasant and helpful our server was. He was the gentleman with the bright smile and man bun. He provided outstanding service and made this experience an amazing one. The food was good but admittedly wasn't as enjoyable as it was on a previous visit. The fish was fried to perfection as usual but the greens and Mac and cheese weren't up to par. The restaurant was clean and full of families enjoying time just like I was with mine. I would come back

Delicious! I had my chicken sandwich with Cajun sauce added. I came by during lunch and it was not too busy. Love its vibe, you order first and then choose a seat.

Amazing time! The ladies and I came for happy hour. I had the Cobb salad with an espresso martini. We also had hibiscus lemon drops, chicken bites, chicken wings, chicken sandwich, fish sandwich, cauliflower bites and fries! Everything was wonderful and service was great. They have an amazing happy hour menu which you have to come and try. Ambiance is fine can either eat inside or outside. We're coming back

I'm hooked! Was having a drink at a bar next door and someone said they were going to get chicken next door at Bawk! I had never heard of it and asked them to bring me some. I got a 10 piece maple hot order of party wings - ALL FLATS- of course, because what other way is there to eat chicken wings!!! Duh!!! :-) Upon first bite they were delicious! First of all they were hot and fresh and if you know me, you know that's important ! They were Fried to perfection, seasoned all the way through and had just the right amount of maple syrup balanced out with spicy heat. OMG the best chicken wings I think I've ever tasted in my life I'm not normally a chicken wing person, meaning I don't usually eat chicken wings. But something about these wings has me hooked! I will definitely go back! I'm not usually in the downtown area, but I will for sure make a special trip to Bach just for the Maple hot chicken wings!!!

Second time trying bawk and they have yet to disappoint. Came here around 645p on Father's Day. It was pretty empty. Service was friendly and fast and the food came out pretty quick as well. Everything was really good and the portions.

I'm so disappointed! I used to be a regular at Bawk 3.5 years ago. Their red beans & rice were my favorite. They were seasoned perfectly, but they changed the menu and took it off the menu. I went back for the first time in years and was excited they had red beans & rice back on the menu. I was so excited I ordered TWO! Well baby...they can take it off the menu again because it was not what it used to be. They certainly aren't cooked by the previous chef because these had ZERO flavor or seasoning. There was some kind of ground beef or meat mixed in, that I wasn't expecting and a whole bunch of green onions. I got the 2-piece fried fish & was equally disappointing. Super greasy and lacked flavor and seasoning. I should've known something was wrong when I was there at 4pm on a Friday, during Happy Hour, and it was a ghost town. Also, when I walked in, there was a couple standing at the register, reading menus and there was a woman who clearly worked there in the middle of the restaurant sweeping for several minutes. No one greeted me when I came in. I assumed someone had already acknowledged the couple and maybe they were in the back. But after standing there for several minutes and looking around, the woman sweeping finally acknowledged the couple and began taking their order. I know darn well, she saw us standing there. "No thank you," I'm marking this place off my list of "go to's." It's a shame because it's right around the corner from my house.

Ive heard about this place so much and I finally went to try it. When you get there you order and then pick your seats with your table number and they will bring your food there (if eating in) I got the Bawk fries which were really good. You can tell that the chicken was very fresh! I also tried their lemon pepper wings (which is not pictured) but let me tell you, IT WAS SOO DELISH! all that was going through my head was "hmm fresh never frozen" very temp hot and flavoring was on point! The inside of the place is very chill and cozy, you have a bar right there also I wanted to go back for their happy hour to try some of those appetizers. Also i tried the honey corn bread muffin and WOW.. they really outdid themselves Food 10/10 Experience 10/10 everyone was very nice

Came here for a friends birthday dinner. Great thing is that you went up to the counter to order and pay for your food. It's nice because splitting a bill can be a chore. I had the lemon pepper chicken wings and waffle fries. The wings were amazing. However the waffle fries were overcooked. I probably could have threw it at someone and knocked a tooth out. lol Service was great though. Very friends and helpful.

Came for their happy hour and they had $5 dirty martinis which were made to perfection! We had boneless chicken wings, fries and a chicken sandwich which tasted so good and it was full of flavor. I love that the happy hour had a variety of options and again, great drinks!! We were also lucky to meet the owner of Spider Monkey who gave us complimentary Beignets. They were soooo good! Fluffy, warm and melted in our mouths!

Bawk Basket of bawk bites, sauce on the side
    Susan B.

Ordering is at the counter. After ordering, they will give you a number. Grab your seat and they will bring out the food when it is ready. I was debating chicken tenders or bawk bites basket. The difference between them are the type of meat. Tenders are white meat while bites are dark meat. I decided on bawk bites basket and sauce on the side. The bites were tender and crispy. The sauce barely had any kick to it. Fries needed a bit more seasoning. We also got chicken & waffle. Waffle was a bit too soggy. Wing was a bit bland. Portions were decent. Service was quick. They have happy hour which is always a good option. Self serve water, utensils, to-go boxes, etc.

I came here for happy hour and ordered a handful of their items. Chicken Lumpia - over all I was pleased with how piping hot, fresh out the fryer it was. A bit thin for my linking but I appreciated there were 6 pieces. The sauce did not pair well. There was something off about it that isn't your typical sweet and sour; maybe the sauce was made in house. Sisig fries - decent portion of fries but fell short on the pork. Lacked an egg and didn't really meet the sisig flavors that I'm used to. You can definitely taste the zestiness of the lemon - nice touch, but other than that it's just fries with pork, red onion and green onion garnish. Hot dog - a $9 happy hour hot dog was the biggest disappointment. Sure the bread texture was good, toasted with a nice chew, but that was it. The dog itself was charged to my linking but it really didn't feel worth the money spent for its portion. Fries - 100% would get again. Cauliflower bites - I liked this too, flavor was good but such a small portion our table has to order two. Similar to the hotdog, not sure if it's worth the spend for the portion size. Despite the food not satisfying my cravings, the service was great. The young lady was helpful and was working hard taking orders, making drinks and delivering the food. The place was pretty busy at least the indoor area. Plenty of seating outside, but in this heat not sure if it's a good idea. Didn't see any misters but would be a nice touch to draw in more folks. Side note: some of the cocktails are premade, and can be overly sweet.
