Reyes was our waiter. Patient, nice and efficient! He was on point and made sure we had everything we asked for. He had all our requests. Overall, this was the perfect spot to visit, grab some food while planning!
I went for lunch, it wasn't too busy. You order at the counter & they give you a number for your table to bring your food out when it's ready. I ordered the Niman Ranch Angus Beef Burger with sweet potato fries. The burger hit the spot & I loved the thin sliced sweet potato fries. Quick & friendly service.
Good quick service. Clean. Spacious. Not too loud but music and TVs are playing- it is an airport. They are new so staffing up and kitchen is trying to meet demands of a huge capacity, it's a huge bar and sit down area. Solid remodel and decent variety of basic food.
Had lunch with my bestie to celebrate her birthday. Our meals were delicious. And HUGE! I had the Turkey, Bacon, Avocado sandwich with Sriracha aïoli mayonnaise. I could barely finish half. Bedtime had the Bahmi sandwich. We also had the mushroom salad. It was so good. Service was good, always fast. Love this location her. We ate inside which was very nice.
Very quaint spot to meet and get reacquainted with friends like I did today during my visit to Sacramento a few weeks ago. I had the ham cheese and onion scrambled egg. Unfortunately they added bacon in it which made it very salty. They offered to fix it but I didn't want my friends waiting on me while I ate.
We basically came here for drinks, not the food so we just sat where there was seating. We weren't greeted or given a menu. The guys went to order drinks at a the bar and we just chilled for approximately 30 minutes and left. The old fashioned we order was on the sweeter side as it had a caramelized flavor diffrent from others I've had. The place was busy, environment was opened and bright. I observed that they had a wide selection of drinks, beer and food. Definitely will have to come back and try.
We've been to the Café Bernardo in Davis before and loved it, but the R Street location in Sacramento is next level and absolutely perfect for vibes. We came here for brunch and it did not disappoint. The outdoor patio is the move--super cozy, stylish, and a great spot to just relax and enjoy your food. It really adds to the overall experience, especially on a nice day. We ordered the kimchi fried rice and wow, it was packed with flavor and the perfect balance of savory and spicy. Also tried their chai and it might be one of the best we've had. Rich, warm, and perfectly spiced. Highly recommend it if you're into chai. On top of all that, the service was amazing. Friendly, attentive, and just really welcoming overall. You can tell they care about the experience here. We love it here and will definitely be back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great brunch spot in Sacramento with chill vibes and great food.
I dream about the salad sampler/trio!! It's so yummy and more restaurants need to do this. We used to go here often or to another location when we lived in the area, so we HAD to stop by when we were passing through Sac. Their food is fresh and tasty & always a win. Service is wonderful with ordering at the counter and then they bring it to you. It's simple and cute inside and clean.
Girl, you mean to tell me they don't have the "unch" part of brunch until after 11:00. Girl I wanted Thai Noodles. When your menu says BRUNCH UNCH starts at 8:00 AM with B-b-brrreakfast girl idc Anyways, this spot is super neat! I love that the outside is very spacious, the booths are comfy looking and the servers are very attentive no matter how far or close you are to the entrance. The food was lovely. Definitely not the spot that will overflow your plate, but for the prices, the quality of the food and the timing of when it arrives - it's worth it! Oh - and for the dude who mentioned in his review that he doesn't like ethnic foods on a menu at a generic restaurant or whatever they said - guurrrrl I'm Mexican and if my Mexican-Immigrant father sees chilaquiles on a menu he is slamming his credit card on the table. Honestly I love coming here for brunch/lunch! I have been here multiple times with friends and I always get something I like. So far we've tried huevos rancheros, breakfast tacos, chilaquiles, the veggie burger, and different pizzas. Everything has been yummy! My favorite is their veggie burger and pizza. I've also gotten their chai multiple times and I prefer it hot over iced. It's very tasty and has a great level of spice without being too milky. The inside is beautiful with lots of seating and the outside seating area is perfect for brunch on a beautiful day. Sitting outside, people watching, and chatting with your friends adds onto the great atmosphere of this place. Parking can be a little tricky due to the area and how busy it can get with the other restaurants/bars. I haven't tried their other location but I recommend this one for sure! Staff have always been nice the times I've been here as well.
Had a great experience at Cafe Bernardo Downtown Sac on R & 15th. The atmosphere is super open and welcoming, with a beautiful patio, plenty of seating, lots of plants, and a really nice indoor space with a deli-style feel. They're also dog-friendly, which is a huge plus if you like bringing your pup along. Inside, there's a full bar, tons of beer on tap, and even four pool tables, which gives it a really fun, social vibe. Just a heads up -- the pool tables are cash only, so come prepared. We grabbed some bar bites, tried the adult slushies, and had a few St. Paddy's Day drinks, and everything was absolutely phenomenal. The bartender was great -- friendly, fast, and made our drinks perfectly. Food came out fresh and looked amazing. Overall, it was a really good time with great energy, good conversation, and solid service. We'll definitely be back.

I love coming here for brunch since they serve brunch til 3 PM or so. Parking isn't bad as long as there's no concerts scheduled. They have a bar but I always go for food not drinks. Pros: I love their outdoor seating since I like to take my dog out. They're very pet friendly. My go to is the chilequiles. I love that they do short stacks for pancakes and French toast. I've always had great service here and the people are friendly. It doesn't get too busy or crowded which is great. Cons: none

Cafe Bernardo is a cute casual, easy restaurant. You order at the counter, get your number, and then pick your own seat, and they bring the food to you when it's ready. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, my friend ordered the omelet. We were both very happy with our breakfast! The breakfast sandwich is more filling than I expected and I took half home. It was really good. Their bread in particular was great. They never rushed us, and we had a great time catching up. Street Parking can be tough but there is a lot right behind the restaurant. I would definitely come back to try other items! It's a great casual restaurant! read more

Cafe Bernardo was just the vibe I needed for brunch on a Wednesday morning. From the soft, clean and inviting interior to the warm latte in a big bowl (which felt like a warm hug!). I'm an artist. Feeling inspired by this lovely cafe, I asked the lady behind the counter for a pen & paper. As I sipped on my coffee, I illustrated the energy I felt from sitting in Cafe Bernardo. The outdoor seating area created a relaxing ambiance to draw & enjoy our meal. The Huevo Rancheros was bursting with bright flavor. 10/10, I cannot wait to come to this lovely eatery again! read more
Fast casual brunch, and lunch spot in Sacramento with healthy options and really good coffee. My fiancé just brought me here, I hadn't been since a previous visit in 2018 but I thought the quality has maintained. I went for a salmon salad that was light and fresh and the whole time I was eating at my body was thanking me. He got his usual small chopped salad with chicken and a quarter loaf of bread with butter and olive balsamic. Everything was good, the bread was a little underwhelming so I probably wouldn't go for that again. It was good with the olive oil balsamic mix, but I really was in the mood for butter and their butter is unsalted and bland AF. Overall, I think this is a a very good lunch spot. They've got nice looking soups that I'd like to try and I would definitely return. read more

I tried two things and both were amazing. I got a banh mi sandwich, the meat was juicy and succulent. I didn't expect to the sandwich to taste that great. I also order an angus beef burger that was also juicy and savory. This is a great hangout spot in downtown. The staff is very friendly and brings your order out quickly. read more

So disappointing. I've been looking forward to coming here all week and getting one of their juicy and tasty burgers. I ordered my burger medium like I did on my last trip here and it was lousy. It was over cooked, a little burnt on the edges and very dry. I was only able to eat half of it as it was so bad. My coworker also got the burger and his was dry too. I'm glad I wasn't alone in my. Misery. He only ate half of his too. They get two stars because the service was good. Our food was served quickly. We got there at 11am so it was early enough to get a few tables together for our group. They don't take reservations so you need to get there early to get a table. As it turns out there wasn't a big crowd today so getting seats wouldn't have been an issue if we came a little later, but you never know. read more

Went for brunch with two friends on a Saturday morning. I got the breakfast tacos and an iced chai. I added sausage to the tacos but I don't think it really needed any additional protein. I was unprepared in the best way for how much they loaded up my plate! Very delicious and good portion sizes. Service was great with a friendly server and the vibe was very relaxing. Similar to my favorite brunch plaza down in San Jose called Bill's Cafe. This egg Benedict was on a sourdough bread which was quite different than what I was used to. The overall taste of the dish was well seasoned. Need to get a table quick! Then you can order at the counter. There is a water refill station and some utensil. Cafe Bernardo is one of my favorite cafes in Sacramento! I have hosted 2 events in the private dining room and each event received great reviews from my guests! The manager, Jenn, is friendly and very helpful! The wait staff has always been great. Jason assisted recently and he did so with a smile and was always conscientious about what we needed. The food is very good. I particularly love the salmon BLT! Can't wait to dine there again soon! read more

Definitely coming back! Okay first things first this was a spontaneous brunch trip turned my new hidden gem. After a morning at the farmers market my fam and I stopped by Cafe Bernardo for Brunch. I'm a first timer here so I had no expectations or previous knowledge which worked out better than expected. Ambiance is a classic downtown restaurant with an indoor / outdoor patio vibe. Modern interior decor, regular table and bar/ pub style seating options. I like that the restaurant provided lots of space and we were not too closely seated by other guests which is usually the case for downtown restaurants. I ordered the chorizo chilaquiles with my egg fried hard. Yes, I know the egg is supposed to be a little runny, just not on my plate. This was the best chilaquiles I've had in a while. Flavorful, cooked just right, and the salsa over the chips was sooooo good. I splashed a bit of hot sauce on top , but to be honest it was fine by itself. I washed my meal down with a moscow mule. Again, bomb! Refreshing and made just right. Yikes! I totally forgot our waitress name, but she was super nice, patient, and accommodating to all request. Overall, service was great. Food was not a long wait and prepared with no issues. Great job team! I'll definitely be back to try more items. read more

The food was great. This is somewhat of a self-serve place. Chalkboard menu, place your other at the register, get your own water, coffee, refreshments, condiments, tableware ... pay and then they'll bring the food out. I can't say much about the service l, because they delivered the did to the table and never came back. The ambiance would be better if the train wasn't running by every few minutes to rattle the nerves. It's a quaint big spot that's difficult to find due to lack of signage. read more
Our first time here in Cafe Bernardo in R Street. We ordered and seated outside located on the side of the restaurant. The cashier asked us if we would like to be seated inside which is full service or outside but not full service but food will be delivered to us. We found a table for 8 including 2 kids. We moved from a sunny outdoor space to a corner which has less sunshine but still outdoor. The server offered to fix our table and asked us if we need anything but brought us utensils. I did not get his name though. I like the service very welcoming. Outside has plenty of sunlight and it is nice. When it comes to foods we ordered, we love everything in their menu but picked these for breakfast. Soo good and portions were perfect no left overs. Not sure why the rating is 3.5 stars. They deserved more. It is 5 stars for me. My family was happy. Their brunch starts at 11AM. read more
