He got his usual small chopped salad with chicken and a quarter loaf of bread with butter and olive balsamic. Everything was good, the bread was a little underwhelming so I probably wouldn't go for that again. I've been coming to Cafe Bernardo on and off since 2008, and it has remained just as consistently excellent as the first time I ate there. We basically came here for drinks, not the food so we just sat where there was seating. We weren't greeted or given a menu. The guys went to order drinks at a the bar and we just chilled for approximately 30 minutes and left. The old fashioned we order was on the sweeter side as it had a caramelized flavor diffrent from others I've had. The place was busy, environment was opened and bright. Honestly I love coming here for brunch/lunch! I have been here multiple times with friends and I always get something I like. So far we've tried huevos rancheros, breakfast tacos, chilaquiles, the veggie burger, and different pizzas. Everything has been yummy! My favorite is their veggie burger and pizza. I've also gotten their chai multiple times and I prefer it hot over iced. It's very tasty and has a great level of spice without being too milky. The inside is beautiful with lots of seating and the outside seating area is perfect for brunch on a beautiful day. Sitting outside, people watching, and chatting with your friends adds onto the great atmosphere of this place. Parking can be a little tricky due to the area and how busy it can get with the other restaurants/bars. I haven't tried their other location but I recommend this one for sure! So disappointing. I've been looking forward to coming here all week and getting one of their juicy and tasty burgers. I ordered my burger medium like I did on my last trip here and it was lousy. It was over cooked, a little burnt on the edges and very dry. I was only able to eat half of it as it was so bad. My coworker also got the burger and his was dry too. I'm glad I wasn't alone in my. I love Cafe Bernardo and have only been to the one of R street. I wanted to try this one and check out the ambiance. Manager was super nice, with the bun. He was very accommodating and helped us when needed, especially with 2 toddlers at the table. We came here for a cousins date with the kiddos and it turned out to be great. Restaurant wasn't packed for brunch, but we managed to snag a seat while one of us went to order everything. All the food was delicious and we had no issues. We even sat for a bit to chat after finishing out meals and didn't feel rushed. I love the ambiance because of all the windows and open air concept. I ordered the chorizo chilaquiles with my egg fried hard. Yes, I know the egg is supposed to be a little runny, just not on my plate. This was the best chilaquiles I've had in a while. Flavorful, cooked just right, and the salsa over the chips was sooooo good. I splashed a bit of hot sauce on top , but to be honest it was fine by itself. I washed my meal down with a moscow mule. Again, bomb! Refreshing and made just right. Yikes! I totally forgot our waitress name, but she was super nice, patient, and accommodating to all request. Overall, service was great. The cashier asked us if we would like to be seated inside which is full service or outside but not full service but food will be delivered to us. We found a table for 8 including 2 kids. We moved from a sunny outdoor space to a corner which has less sunshine but still outdoor. The server offered to fix our table and asked us if we need anything but brought us utensils. This place has kind service and a great location for state workers(reason for 2 stars) But this time we had a larger group, some never got their food, and had to take it to go. We had to eat separately. Due to slow service. Their food is extremely high for what you get. They over cook all meat and salmon, and you have to pay extra for simple fries(not even seasoned) or a generous amount. You will leave hungry, unless you want to spend $30 plus for lunch.
