My family and I stopped in for breakfast on Tuesday for the first time around 8:30am. It was empty when we arrived as it was early, but we were greeted and seated right away. I ordered a Vanilla Cream Cold Brew to start which was really good and the caffeine kick that I needed. My husband ordered a Mimosa which came in a carafe with 2 champagne glasses. For food, we ordered the Kids Waffle, Biscuits and Gravy and Joe's Special. While I really liked Joe's Special, I didn't think it was anything...special. My husband said the gravy was decent, but that the biscuits tasted like they had been frozen. We also got a side of bacon that was the cheap thin cut that flopped when you picked it up even though the menu states that it is thick cut maple bacon. The inside is pretty big with lots of seating and even counter seating like most diners have. We really enjoyed the artwork and murals on the walls - it had a really cool space theme vibe going on. Overall, we weren't that impressed with the food unfortunately. I would come back for lunch to see what other options were available. Would I rush to come back though? Unfortunately, no. I do like that they serve breakfast all day though!

Nice place for breakfast, brunch, Lunch, or dinner! The menu offers a wide variety of items to tempt any cravings. The hostess and waiting staff were both welcoming. We enjoyed the eclectic artwork and vibe. This restaurant is an updated diner with lots of space, tables, and comfortable booths. Seats at the counter are even offered. There's even a small private meeting room to accommodate roughly 20 guests. Perfect for a luncheon!

Whenever I visit my daughter on Q Street this is my favorite place to go! Not only because I can walk there, but because the food is really good. Always great customer service and I like how comfortable the diner is. I miss being able to go in the evenings . It was perfect for after work. Hopefully they will go back to staying open a little longer again.

Happy 2026 Yall! I started my NYE at ROC & SOL Diner and gotta give them a shout out for the awesome deal. It was $50/person and included appetizer, entree, beverage, assorted desserts, and 2 alcoholic beverages. The dinner was hosted at the restaurant and the party at their sister bar Twisted Track Station. The owner Matt (pictured holding the '6 balloon') was super welcoming and made me feel like he genuinely felt happy that we came to celebrate. I really hope they do it again next year cause we had a blast and appreciate the positive vibes from everyone. Now let's talk food. Everything I have eaten at ROC & SOL has been fire. For NYE dinner, I had The NY strip (medium) w/ roasted garlic butter and veggies. I tell you that steak was seasoned well and cooked to perfection, the spinach and carrot sauté mix tasted fresh & light - - with the carrots being soft but not too soft. Mashed potatoes were creamy, buttery and felt like happy clouds in my mouth. Previously, I've had the Creme Brûlée French toast and omg it was the best I ever had. Their meatloaf meal is another winner and I loved the accompanying sautéed green beans. They recently reduced their hours so I implore all of my fellow Sacramentans and beyond, to patronize this restaurant. We need good restaurants like this to stay open. The chef is back there cooking with love and I've tasted it in every meal I've ever had there.

2/12/26: 11am brunch. Busy dining room, and no waiting. Greeted promptly, smiles all around. Hard to choose from many delicious entrees. My usual vegetable scramble, helps me get in those all-important macro and micronutrients. And the dish tastes so delicious, thank you butter and cheese. Try not to fool myself too much. Love this diner.

If you're looking for diner food, this is your place! I like that they offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also offer a variety of different specials so it feels a little bit more budget friendly when you're dining out frequently. The gal pals and I decided to do a weekday brunch, and we found ourselves wanting to try almost everything on the menu. We opted to get the artichoke dip as an appetizer while we were trying to figure out what everyone was having. The warm artichoke dip is pricey for what it is, but it was pretty tasty. And the chips that they serve with the dip, worked really well with the dip. I ordered a Shirley Temple because when at a diner... It was OK, but I don't know if it was the maraschino cherries, or the grenadine syrup, but there was something off about the drink. No harm no foul it's just a drink. I ordered the French toast with the side of bacon. The bacon was the right call. It was made absolutely too perfection. It was crisp where it needed to be. It was tasty, and my only criticism is that I of course, would've liked more because who doesn't want more bacon?! The French toast wasn't bad and tasted very homemade. I think I wanted a little bit of cinnamon or just something on the French toast, but it was tasty. My friend that I was sitting next to ordered the hashbrowns and scramble. She tried some of my French toast, and I tried some of her scrambled eggs and hashbrowns. I found the scrambled eggs to be way over Dawne and just something that I would've not enjoyed how to been my own meal. The hashbrowns were OK, but definitely tasted like from the freezer to the fryer type of potatoes. That's not horrible, but I think I wanted more of that at home taste. She kind of felt the same way. Service was great, and our waitress was incredibly attentive. Bonus points because while the restaurant is downtown, they have their own private parking lot and free parking! So it just really encourages you to frequent the restaurant and enjoy their tasty food!

We stumbled on this place through YELP finding an alternative to Tower Cafe (weekend Valentine's Day was an hour+ wait!), ROC & SOL did not disappoint! In fact, their food was comparable to the other place i mentioned. We were seated right away. Our food came out so fast and very delicious! We ordered steak and eggs, house waffles, chorizo scrambled, Denver omelette, patty melt. My coffee was served on a big mug which was perfect! Love their unique decor. We will definitely come back here and will bring friends, too!

Loved our visit today. No wait. Got a cute booth. Got coffee pretty quickly and had our server check in at a frequency that was perfect. We both got the chorizo scramble and that was the right call. The hash browns were so good today! Perfectly crispy and flavorful without being mushy. The chorizo had better flavor last time we had it (not sure if they switched the brand the use) but the flavor of the rest of the meal made up for it. Coffee was also solid- not burnt at all. Refills without any problems.

Had brunch at Roc & Sol Diner today and it totally hit the spot! I ordered the Joe's Special, plus sides of French toast, blueberry pancake, eggs, and bacon because why not sample a little bit of everything? Everything was fresh and tasty! The Joe's Special was hearty and flavorful, the French toast was fluffy and golden, and the blueberry pancake was perfectly sweet. The bacon was nice and cooked perfectly. The staff were really friendly and on top of things, and the diner had a vibrant twist. Not quite your typical diner in the decor, but definitely a nice typical diner in the atmosphere and staff. Definitely a great local spot for classic comfort food!

Randy from Shaft has been telling me for months that I needed to go here for the Reuben sandwich. Everything he told me is true. The sandwich and fries plate is, indeed, enough to share. The Reuben is delicious. Thinly sliced corned beef piled on high, perfectly sauced, cheesed, and sauerkrauted. The fries are thin, crispy, not too salty, and plentiful. The restaurant is also an art gallery! Comfortable, and reminds me of the kind of diners that I loved growing up. Anna, our lovely server, is attentive, engaging, and an all around great person. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner all served during the business hours. And it's open on Mondays!

    French Toast. Best ever.

Sunday breakfast. Yes, I recommend it. The French toast =delicious, the-best-ever!! Breakfast burrito is good and tasty, smoky, avocado something amazing sauce I don't know! Eggs Benedict oh my awesome! Our server was so nice, all the staff were 5/5 stars. The place was clean cool 80's 50's decor or something . It was good. TVs at the time had nfl on which was nice. Plenty of parking too.

Joe's Special. Wagyu beef, spinich, mushrooms and Parmesan cheese.

A modern take on the old style coffee shop restaurant in midtown Sac. Open late on Friday and Saturday for those after-party munchies. They also own an art/event gallery a few blocks over, and the creative vibe is part of the diner as well. While I would have no issue going again, our visit was a little hit and miss. I had the Joes Special, and my wife did Eggs Benedict. THE PROS: We went late-morning on a Saturday and had a real good server. The coffee was fresh, hot, and quite wonderful. The bacon was a bit thick, not too salty and delicious. The portions were large, and service was prompt. The menu had a lot of classic American dishes. THE CONS: While hopefully not a common issue, they had some kind of sewer problem the day we visited. The less-than-appetizing aroma was both outside and near the entrance and rest rooms. Both of us had the same thought about our orders: big portions, nice presentation, but far less flavor than the ingredients would suggest. And not sure why. On paper they should have been amazing. BOTTOM LINE: I really want to recommend Roc and Sol, and I'm willing to think our visit was an off day. I can totally see coming here for late night and it hitting the spot, but on this visit it was just average. Rating: 4.5/10

We were seated right away. Our server Darian & Clare they both had excellent personalities and service. The atmosphere is so delightful especially the art on the walls. We ordered the Double Cheese Burger with mixed green salad also an order of Eggs Benedict. The food as always was delicious. We will be back again.

I remember from the video they said this was considered a "bartenders bar",the kind of spot that that bartenders and workers in the industry would hangout after their shifts-I liked the sound of that. Walking up to where I thought the bar was located,it was kinda funny because it was just an innocent looking blue door with the words "Cocktail" along the side-doesn't look like much at all,I'd imagine I've walked by this place many times without thinking of ever going in-that was changing this time. When I walked in I 100% knew I was stumbling upon something special-it was a tiny place but it was overflowing with energy, not many booths in this bar and it may be the smallest bar I've ever been to but it felt special.Looking at the clientele I felt like I was with my people,it was so cool in there. This is the kind of place I would take my wife and any of my friends before a special night out and be it a dinner or a concert or a production at Safe Performing Arts Center and feel like it would set the right vibe for the night. Looking over the menu, they had some very interesting looking drinks, the wife went with a French 75($12.00)and I went with a Pecan Brown Sugar Old Fashioned($16.00)The bartenders are very friendly and super personable and really took their time and took pride in their drinks-I had never had an Old Fashioned quite like that one,but it went down super smooth-I loved i-I look forward to going there again asap. A coupe of things about this bar-they do only have 1 unisex bathroom,it was very clean. Also this place is so old school that they are a "Cash-Only " bar. They do have an atm in the bar in case you forget your cash. They have a big fish tank behind the bar that really put the room together nicely-I liked it a lot. In closing,if you ever find yourself in the Ice Blocks part of midtown and want to experience an awesome bar that feels very unique-head on down to Frank and have a drink or two-you won't regret it-I think I may have found my new favorite bar in all of Sacramento. The restaurant is quite small inside with very limited seating, but the outdoor patio is beautiful. Be ready to likely sit outside, but enjoy the atmosphere. We started with the mezcal old fashioned and the cucumber jalapeño margarita. The mezcal old fashioned was a delicious smoky twist on the classic cocktail. The cucumber jalapeño margarita was refreshing, though a little sweeter than I expected and missing the spicy kick I was hoping for. The guacamole was fresh and tasty, but the portion was quite small and barely enough for two people in my opinion. The salsa was also small but it was absolutely phenomenal. The chicken tacos were excellent, with tender chicken that was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The enmoladas were also fantastic and are a great way to sample Oaxaca's three unique mole sauces, each with its own distinct character. One thing to note is that the chicken filling is intentionally prepared very simply in traditional Oaxacan cuisine so that the mole remains the star of the dish. If you prefer heavily seasoned meat, this dish may be milder than what you are used to. Overall, everything we tried was delicious and offered a wonderful taste of authentic Oaxacan flavors. So the wifey and I are day drinking our way thru Oak Park on this particular Saturday and as we…read morewere kinda walking aimlessly after a few beers at a local brewery-we ran across this simple unassuming door with the name The Butterscotch Den written across it-it's kinda crazy because I had no idea where this bar was and for sure didn't know it was in Oak Park-I couldn't have been happier as this bar has been high on my must visit list for months. When we walked in I knew I was in the perfect spot-this bar has those low lights that all the bars in the 70s and 80s had-giving off a both romantic and mysterious vibe to it-I was in love with the place from that moment on. The music that day was awesome-I heard they have live music at times but at the time of my visit they did not-they were instead playing 90s and 2000s R&B and Hip Hop-it was wonderful-one banger after another-so yeah I was vibing. Our waitress couldn't have been cooler-she was as friendly as can be-suggesting drinks that were both on and off the menu-her and I were sharing tequila stories based on our shared affinity for the Fortaleza tequila they had in stock -which is super rare and it's how I judge every bar-whether or not they have Fortaleza tequila on hand and The Butterscotch Den had multiple bottles on hand. We ended up going with a few drinks that day. -Strawberry Negroni-($13.00)-This one blew my socks off-my favorite drink in the works is a Negroni but this bar makes a Strawberry version of it and let me tell ya-it's dynamite-10/10 rating -Old Fashioned-($12.00)-This is my go-to order at most bars because it's pretty reliable and most bars can make a decent one and I'd say they make a very solid one here-8.2/10 rating -Cucumber Gimlet with Tequila-($11.00)-This drink was made with lime-sweet vermouth and tequila-it was very refreshing and went down way too easy-rating 8.4/10 -Mezcal mystery drink-($12.00)-This was a drink the bartender made that after we declared our love for the smokiness of mezcal-I wouldn't be able to ask for it again unless I got the same waitress but if your a mezcal lover like I am-this drink was top of the line-smokiness intensity off the charts-9.1/10 rating So a little about the place that I picked up during my visit-I guess they serve food-I didn't know that but after my 2nd drink I looked back and saw this entire dining area with table side grills-so I guess the customers cook their own meats and such-pretty cool concept-my visit was strictly a drinking visit so I didn't partake but it looked pretty cool. I guess they are opened most days from 4p-12am and until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. They do not have a dedicated parking lot for this bar but they are located near 34th and Broadway-so unlimited street parking is available for those who drive here. In closing-I really really enjoyed my visit to The Butterscotch Den and I was pretty sure I had found my new favorite bar in Sacramento with a bar in the Ice Blocks but I am pretty sure that has changed and The Butterscotch Den is my new favorite bar in the greater Sacramento area-if you find yourself looking for a new spot to enjoy some adult beverages or maybe looking for a date night spot-don't hesitate to make your way over to The Butterscotch Den-the place is a true hidden gem. PS-They have a Disco Ball in their lounge area and a vintage non-working cigarette machine-the coolest I tell ya.
