This is an old standby been around forever. i've been coming here since the 70s when it was Shanley's pretty much the same place the same dark bar same small dining room. I come here when I'm in a mood for a steak sandwich they used to have a New York steak sandwich that was really great with a big huge steak on it since we were missing that today we ordered specials of the 16 ounce ribeye steak and 4 rolls and a salad and made myself four steak sandwiches for our table of 4 - it was just what we wanted. Service here is always above excellent. It's an old Homie place that never changes kind of wish they would clean up the bathroom a bit, but it's all good. We love Jamie's.

Katie and I joined my sister and her husband for dinner. We ordered drinks, which arrived quickly and were refreshing. We were surprised to see so many empty tables on a Saturday night. While we arrived early - at 5pm, when we left around 6:30pm, the place was nearly vacant. We did spend a bit of time admiring the dead animal decor - buck, buffalo and striped beast...a wildebeest? I have for a couple decades only ordered the garlic steak sandwich. This day, I went with fish and chips. Fantastic! Wonderfully breaded, perfectly cooked, tender, moist, and delicate in flavor. I tore of bits and dipped in the tartar sauce, put malt vinegar on one piece and still dipped it. The fries were like crack - couldn't stop shoving them in my mouth long after I was full.

Jamie's is a hidden gem! I ordered the rib eye and hubby had the steak sandwich. Talk about delicious the rib eye was sooo good! No A1 needed! Drinks were good so was the clam chowder. We had half of the rib eye to take home and have for breakfast with eggs. The customer service was great. The bar was full of people having a great time and spreading cheer. Don't miss out on this great food!

This was on Guy Fieris show! So had to stop by this classic Irish Bar joint. They keep it old school here, which is a whole vibe. I love their clam chowder and Smokey prime rib. It's not the classic prime rib, this is the Smokey kind. I can finish it and it still doesn't feel too heavy in the stomach. Ask for their horse radish! The banh mi is also pretty authentic; shocking for an Irish restaurant. Love it! Def will be back!

Stopped by here during work hour rush as the inside was packed. Tried the garlic steak sandwich which came with fries. The steak was very very very dry and the bread had no dressing on it so I had to put ranch or whatever I could find because it was impossible to swallow it dry. The steaks didn't taste like filet mignon but more of a skirt steak. Besides the food, the customer service was great and the location had plenty of parking so it was convenient. Not sure if i stopped by during a bad day in the kitchen but I will most likely not come back again...

This long time local favorite never disappoints! The location is nice and cozy and you can tell right from the small parking spots. But, don't let that discourage you. I've always found a spot to park and another to sit and enjoy my meal. The food and service are great! Looking for comfort food? This is your spot. The clam Chowder is creamy and filling. They have daily specials too.

update: I believe the cost of goods has impacted the amount of food provided at this local hangout. So what did we order: 1) Garlic steak sandwiches: meat was still tender and favorable. But the size of these sandwiches has diminished. From the size and type of buns to the amount of meat on each sandwich. sigh. Oh, the clam chowder was also still thick and favorable. 2) burger: this once mighty burger is no longer. Again, the taste and flavor has not faltered, but the size of this burger is definitely smaller. The fries were well seasoned. 3) club sandwich: still use "real" roasted turkey but the size of this once massive sandwich has also taken a dive. And where was the avocado? Bottom line: the food is still tasty but smaller in size. Perhaps better for my waistline.

Pork belly and bacon sandwich with fries

Sacramento is rich with many hidden gems and one of the best is without a doubt Jamie's on Broadway. I've lived here all my life and still have only been twice. Each time I'm reminded why they're regarded so highly. Not much to see from the outside one might think Jamie's is just a local watering hole. Although it might be that it is also home to a kitchen that can go toe to toe with the best of them. They're always introducing new menu items and testing out new flavors. Went with a buddy of mine and sat at the bar. It's dimly lit inside with very few windows. Bar tenders was in a great mood and some patrons nearby at the bar were going hard taking shots and carrying on. It was 4pm on a Thursday. I love it haha. Took a look at the menu and decided to try the pork belly sandwich. It was topped with a spicy slaw and some bacon. What else can a person ask for?! The sandwich was immaculate. I felt so many flavors and different textures in this sando. Also it was huge, despite that I couldn't stop eating and devoured the whole sandwich in one sitting. The sauce added more juiciness to everything going on. Jamie's thank you for always keeping it real, staying true to what works best for the regulars and also new patrons like me that know about this place but never visited before. I plan to bring more people here and hope they will too.

Creamy avocado, sweet dates, tangy goat cheese, and a pear vinaigrette brought everything together without drowning it. The cornbread croutons stole the show. Crisp, buttery, and loaded with flavor, they added the texture most salads are missing. The meat was cooked properly and gave that subtle reminder this place understands BBQ Steak Frites (5/5): Straightforward, done right. The hanger steak was cooked with precision, with a proper sear and clean beef flavor that didn't need to hide behind sauce. You could tell they respected the product. The peppercorn sauce supported without taking over, and the fries were crisp with just enough softness inside to keep things balanced. Every dish we ordered was flavorful and memorable, and the quality of the food was easily the highlight of the evening. That said, given the restaurant's reputation and price point, we expected a more elevated dining atmosphere. The seating consisted of simple bench-style arrangements that felt more casual than anticipated, and the smaller layout made the restaurant quite loud and crowded during peak hours. Since every table was full for the holiday, conversations carried easily throughout the space, and the lack of high-backed seating offered very little privacy between tables. We had also anticipated a slightly more upscale ambiance overall. My girlfriend and I dressed for what we expected would be a fine dining experience, but the atmosphere leaned much more casual, with many guests dressed in jeans and T-shirts. Of course, this is more of an observation than a criticism, but it did contribute to the experience feeling less refined than expected. In the end, the outstanding food ultimately made up for many of the atmosphere-related shortcomings. While the ambiance did not fully align with our expectations for such a highly rated restaurant, the quality of the cuisine absolutely stood out and is what we will remember most.

It's been years since I've been, mainly because of the long wait times and no reservations on weekends. As a planner, I gravitate toward places where I can make a reservation. However, it was a special occasion, so we committed to it on a holiday weekend. The wait was estimated at 1.5 hours for a party of 7, but it ended up being closer to 40 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad at all. The patio and waiting area are gorgeous and make the wait worth it on a beautiful day. Great shade from the trees, solid service, and a really nice ambiance overall. The menu is massive with a little bit of everything and huge portions, so it's quite hard to decide. I settled on the Madame Cristo because it sounded decadent and somewhere between lunch and breakfast, which felt perfect for brunch. And decadent it was. The cheesy ham and béchamel blended into this super rich, fatty bite balanced by the French toast it was sandwiched between. The eggs on top were almost overkill, but still a welcome addition for some protein. The chipotle raspberry jam was surprisingly good too, almost like a smoky raspberry salsa that added sweetness and helped cut through some of the richness. The potatoes were standard and nothing to write home about. It was definitely a lot, but pretty good and exactly what you expect from a brunch spot like this. I'm not going to say the food is mind-blowing, but it's solid and they have unique dishes, great vibes, and something for everyone to enjoy. Nice to see that Tower Cafe is still doing well after all these years and remains a great place to celebrate special occasions.

This is a funny place for me as I've been here more than a few times, yet I don't have a favorite beer or food item but not because I don't like the food or the beer but because the more things I try the more things I had to my favorites list at this incredible brewery. This particular visit was on a Tuesday and they have a great pint beer special on Mondays and Tuesdays with $5 select pints all day. On this day we decided to go with Weird is the new Normal-a West Coast IPA($5.00) & a Luna De Miel-a Mexican Amber($5.00). Both beers were very refreshing and went down super easy and I've added both to my "will order again " list. For food I ended up ordering Brisket Tacos ($14.00) off the appetizer list and a Pulled Pork Sandwich($17.00) off the sandwich list. I upgraded my fries to Garlic Fries for an additional fee-I think $1 but not sure as I was being treated that day. Brisket Tacos were super simple but still wonderful -really soft tortilla with a nice chew and flavor topped with their famous juicy tender perfectly flavored brisket with onions and cilantro as a topper-they are excellent because of the quality of the brisket. 8.8/10 Pulled Pork Sandwich was the item that stood out that day-pulled pork was smoked perfectly and smothered with a perfect amount of their BBQ sauce and one of their famous onion rings is in the sandwich also topped with BBQ sauce. The bun they use was so soft and meshed perfectly with the soft tasty bite of the pulled pork. 9.4/10 I really do love all of my visits to Urban Roots as every visit has been positive-I've recommended this place to many of my friends who visit from out of town for a high quality yet casual dining experience & if that isn't enough of a recommendation, the day I visited was my actual birthday and this was the place I choose to celebrate-I love this place that much.
