Great friendly local bar! Location: Located across the street from John C. Fremont park on the corner of 16th and P street. 16th has a lot of great bars and Karma is such a great anchor. While not the biggest bar, there is also patio and seating on the sidewalk along the bar. Karma also has a second floor that can be rented with space to host a small cozy party with friends. The second floor has a great view of the park as well. Bathroom is just outside the bar. Service: What makes this place so great is the bar staff. They are super friendly to regulars and newbies alike. Also while the line can get long they are pretty quick at getting drink ordered filled. Despite how busy it can get I haven't had to wait in the line very long. Drinks/Food: They have a nice selection of rotating drinks and it's something that I love to try out every time I am here. However, I am a big sucker for their espresso martinis. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area! read more

First impressions - cool cozy bar in Midtown. Perfect place to visit during the cold December evenings, especially with their selection of hot drinks. Perhaps it's also the holidays, but the decor gives the place quite a bit of kitschy charm. Drinks were solid and if I recall correctly, decently priced at around $12-$13 a pop for ours. The space is a bit on the small side, so perhaps not the best place for larger crowds. It wasn't crazy crowded the evening we went; however, I still found myself bumping into the person behind me due to the close quarter seating. Definitely on my list of bars to revisit. Espresso Martini was great. But they only filled the glass half way up. When I asked the bar tender, this skinny guy oddly began to argue with me like I was lying and told me it was full pour. Super odd. Won't be coming back. read more

I've driven past Karma Brew countless times but never stopped in. I was craving an espresso martini, and the reviews said they had the best, so I finally checked it out. The space is small and cozy, with eclectic seating and lots of quirky wall décor that give it a charming vibe. The bartender was incredibly friendly, and the espresso martini was one of the best I've had in Sacramento. I'll definitely be back. read more

My friends & I have come here many a time for a drink. Love the service here. Prices are fair & there are many drink options! I'm basic, but really enjoy how they make their Moscow Mules here. Only downside is that the bar is a little small, but the ambiance is fun & overall, adds a great energy to a night out! read more

Call it "cozy" or "eclectic" if you wish, but this is basically a dive bar--dark, grubby, and a little depressing. The prices, however, do not match the low-end ambiance. $9.75 for a 10-oz beer? $12 for a half-cup pour of champagne? Oh, and the two employees I interacted with were indifferent and flat-out rude, respectively. read more

Stopped in for a quick drink on a nice afternoon! I was served quickly and took a seat inside. There's a cool vibe inside, lots of reclaimed furniture and unique art. There's so much to look at! I love this funky little spot. It's eclectic and has such a lovely cozy feel to it. Great little spot to hit after dinner. Not sure about the food as I didn't have any. They have a small selection of stuff on tap and bottled beers. I think where it's at is the mixed drinks. I decided to try their Sakeccino - Which is exactly what you would expect - A cappuccino made with sake. This was so good. Prefect aperitivo even though I had it for more of a dessert. I debated whether or not to review this place because it felt kind of like a cozy, unique gem that I didn't want to get swarmed, but they absolutely deserve the shoutout. The menu has a good range of different types of drinks (wine, beers, cocktails) without overwhelming you with options. There's also actual food available (pizza, dolmas, mozarella) and i haven't tried it yet but i have a feeling it's good. It was nice to see actual food offered rather than just snacks. The bartenders here are really genuine, there isn't like a fake customer service thing going on and they're easy to talk to. I asked for a beer similar to the last one I ordered and the bartender offered two different suggestions with reasons why they were similar. The decor and incense are my favorite parts. There's a unique eclecticism that I can really just best describe as nostalgic and comfortable. Lots of wood furniture/furnishing and mismatch pillows to sit on, artwork on the walls and some stained glass windows, and two mirrors on the ceiling. If you've ever been to older restaurants in south lake Tahoe (like before it was exclusively for rich people's summer homes) it's got the same feeling, if that makes sense? It's not pretentious, the prices are very reasonable for what you're getting, and it's clearly well-loved by the owner(s), employees, and regulars. If you're in midtown and want to get a drink and enjoy a very authentic Sacramento spot, I highly recommend going here. read more

This review has been long overdue, but I have to say, Karma Brew is one of my absolute favorite places in Sac for a multitude of reasons. Their drinks are phenomenal, ambiance is so cozy and welcoming, and their entire wait staff are amazing people. Specifically, I came in the evening before Thanksgiving to unwind from the day, and was interrupted by an incredibly drunk man while I was taking my order. He got so close to me that I could feel his breath on my face and was whispering to me as if he knew me. He was insistent that I had to let him buy me a drink, and that I needed to sit next to him. I firmly told him "No thank you" 4 times, and when it was clear that he wasn't respecting me (as he kept leaning in closer to me), my bartender, Kris, shut him down and told him that his behavior wasn't welcome. He tried arguing with Kris, but my awesome bartender stood firmly. After calling my guardian angel a "f***ing idiot", Drunk Guy finally sulked over back to his seat. Kris notified one of the owners, Mikey, who immediately instructed Drunk Guy that his behavior isn't welcome, and that he had to leave right then and there. Drunk Guy of course stayed in his seat and started throwing a hissy fit, but Mikey stood his ground and held the door open for him. I watched them talk outside for ages, Drunk Guy getting in Mikey's face multiple times, yet Mikey and another fantastic bartender, Jose, kept the situation under control and I felt safe the entire time, accompanied with an amazing boozey hot cocoa. I love Karma, because not only do I feel not judged for being my most authentic self by dressing, looking, and operating differently than your average Sacramentan, I feel celebrated for who I am. Their staff genuinely care about their drinks, their guests, and their bar. If you're in Sacramento for one night only, make sure to stop by Karma Brew (and get a Cadillac Margarita, they're the best)! read more

This is the best bar because it's not a bar. I don't go to bars but I come here. There are no rowdy brawls, people drunk off their butts, no loud annoying music. The people coming here seem pretty normal, not there to just get drunk. Also there is an extended patio now so you can people watch. Dog friendly because the owner Anthony has a dog. That is definitely a plus. The people who work here are friendly and chill. I've never had any problems here. The upstairs is open Friday and Saturday from 8-12pm so I recommend coming then, it's nice and cozy. Food and drink wise they're known for mixed coffee alcohol drinks that I haven't tried cuz I don't drink. I just come for the good vibes and the unique decor, and of course the people when I feel like I finally wanna socialize outside of work once a week or so. read more

During a night out downtown karma is a must stop if we're in the mood for espresso martinis. Seriously some of the best espresso martinis I've had in Sacramento. Minus one star bc one night we came in and vibes were high key off. We were asked multiple times to show our IDs even though we had already gotten drinks? My whole group was 30 years old + not like a bunch of rowdy teens. Just found it odd the same bartender asked for them from every individual person more than once. The bathroom is also in an alley which isn't the most desirable for women or really anybody. I'll definitely return bc service is usually very enjoyable and the martinis are great. read more

Karma is so close to where I live and convenient. I have tried the tapas in the past and it was some of the worst food I've ever had. Do not recommend eating here. Last night I ordered two Irish coffees with a girl. She swiped the card and we sat down. After almost 20 minutes I went back to the bar to let them know I never got the drinks. Mike the bartender apologized and made our drinks right away. The decorations inside of karma are pretty wild. read more

I was brought here on a crawl stop. Staff is good. Drinks were accordingly to the crawl. However, the owner had an attitude towards the patrons and even noticed with his staff. Definitely, he shouldn't have signed up his spot for the crawl. I was going to add to my list of usual spots, but He left a bad taste in our mouths. Sure he doesn't care. But hopefully no one else experiences it. read more

This place is definitely an acquired taste. After scouring a few Yelp reviews for a wine bar in my area I decided this was my Sunday Night destination. My vote MEH! Overall I loved the eclectic vibe and the place had a chill ambiance but I was left missing something! The food-YUCK! I've been obsessed with this place since I stumbled across it around January 2022. It's a tradition to start at Thai Canteen and walk over to Karma. When it's packed it's difficult to find a place to sit, so plan accordingly. The bartenders are cool. Loved the musician as well. I'm happy they had mulled wine bc this place is the only one that can do it right. LA doesn't it have it. I tell all my SoCal friends who visit NorCal to go to this spot. read more

Ok this place reminds of some of the dive wine bars in SF. That's my favorite kind of place! Love the sangria (no liquor at all in it which is a plus for me cuz I don't drink any liquor) very flavorful. Have yet to try the food but the menu is small but the hummus seems to be a popular choice. They do have a full bar it looks like so there's something for everyone. If you're looking for a unique bar experience, the cozy, friendly, tasty atmosphere that is Karma Brew is it! I've been here twice, and the drinks plus welcoming bartenders have sealed this place as one of my go-to bars from now on. My friend recommended their espresso martinis and they were amazing, I'm not really a coffee cocktail type of person, but I had a 2nd round, they were so smooth. On the weekends, the owner's nephew aka our bartender for the night, let us know that there is a 2nd story where guests can hang out and enjoy music (I think he said there was a DJ?). I'd love to return and check it out. They offer food and have a patio and restroom located next to the bar, that requires a key. Cheers! read more

Great place to relax in the sun and have a drink. A lot of choices! Next time we will try the food. It sounds delish! Had a Negroni, gin & tonic, beer, and French 75. All good!! Staff was great. I finally had the opportunity to stop in and enjoy a drink at this cool, fun, tiny little spot on the corner of P and 16th. I pass by the place on my way home from work and even though it's small it's eye catching given the location. The bartender was super friendly; he welcomed us in and gave us the run down on what their menu has to offer (basically everything you can imagine). The bestie went with Merlot, I went with the Cadillac Margarita and boy was it smackin'! It's not called a Cadillac for no reason :) we shared the Karma sampler and their hummus was delish! Inside atmosphere is like a blast from the past with all the vintage and antique decor but it all just flows together. I sat at the bar seating and was able to see some food being prepared. The place is elegant and clean. Love the ambiance. For sip I got the sparkling wine cuz I got the seafood platter for food. The seafood platter features a great selection of fresh and tasty items. I loved everything on that platter. It is an elevated price point but you get good quality and tasty food. The restaurant was decorated festively and looked out on the brightly lit tree in the renovated Fair Oaks Village square. Most of the tables were full, but our party of two was promptly seated. As the owner whisked between tables taking orders, delivering food and chatting with the customers we perused the menu that is largely Italian classics mixed with flavors and methods from Peru and some Spanish tapas standards. The unique menu is a roadmap to the owner's life story, a Peruvian with an Italian grandfather and a passion for food and gatherings, trained in Spanish restaurants in the Bay Area. We enjoyed a cheese fondue to start (neither Italian nor Peruvian but delicious), then we shared a special of Italian noodles with steak bites in a cheesy sauce with aji pepper. It was so unique and truly delicious we nearly licked the plate clean! For dessert we shared a tiramisu. It was wonderful. The sponge was neither too dry nor soggy, the cream had wonderful flavor and it was the perfect amount to share. We will definitely look for a chance to return on a night they're sure to be open, and until then we'll remember fondly our surprise meal at this lovely spot!

They had the NBA game on at the bar, but it didn't overpower or distract from the atmosphere of the restaurant itself. The dining room is made up of small tables with couples and friends quietly enjoying their meals and conversations. It has that kind of warm, comfortable energy that makes you want to slow down a little, settle in, and stay longer than you planned. Not every restaurant has to be loud or trendy to stand out. Sometimes a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and a good meal are enough. Definitely check this place out.

The inside is clean, there's bar seating, tables, a small couch area, and seats in the window if you wanna people watch. The building is of an older construction with tall vaulted ceilings with a center ridge beam which provided a very homey feeling unlike many businesses that feature modern/industrialized construction. Parking is free and easy to find in this residential area.

Hefty party served with a homemade onion ring placed in between the buns. Delicious well seasoned patty and perfectly fried crisp onion ring. That onion ring was fantastic. And to note, they grill the bun that gives it a slight char and the fries are Belgian style twice cooked. Other dishes I have had here are the pork schnitzel and brined deep fried chicken. The schnitzel was thinly pounded, seasoned and fried perfectly. Moist interior. The chicken was juicy, moist with a crisp fried exterior.

The first time was pretty bomb and the price point was good. The second time was just fine, and despite the Lord of the Rings theme, it no longer felt unique or original. It was also quite expensive. Chef, however, gives me the ick. He does not treat is staff well, and is abusive, even in front of customers.

After working for this place for a day, I now give it one star. I would give it negative stars if yelp allowed me to. I don't support a boss who is a extreme narcissist and who is so controlling that he has to personally inspect every single dish and find something wrong with it when it comes out of the kitchen.. Then tells his employee that has worked for him for 4 months and he has put in charged of training me that every dish is wrong. The owner has a extreme case of OCD and it is going to be the downfall of his company. I would have to say that he is worse then Gordon Ramsey on an episode of Hells Kitchen. But the reality of the situation is that that this is not Hells Kitchen. This is not reality T.V, it's real life. The people that work for this guy are just that, people. They shouldn't be treated the way I was treated yesterday. I have 15 years of experience in the culinary/hospitality industry, and I have NEVER seen any employer that is that over the top in my life! If you want to support a boss that runs his employees into the ground, by all means eat here. But if you feel that people should be treated with respect and not be constantly controlled by an OCD boss, find another place to eat. I do believe that the only reason the employees that do work there and put up with this guys attitude is either that they don't know any better, or have a very low sense of self esteem so if you eat there... Be very nice to the girls who work there, they have to put up with the owner. Also, there is a certain way to dress when you go to work. It has to say that you take pride in yourself as a person. I saw an employee show up for business and it was just sloppy. She had a hole in her shirt between her armpit and her breasts. She had no bra on and she was put in charged of training. Good grief dude. At least have the decency to either pay your employee enough to buy a shirt with no holes in it to wear to work, or provide one for them Your employees are not slaves and should not show up to work looking like them. I also feel like it is the publics right to know about employers like this, epically in the hospitality. What happens behind the scenes is just as important as what happens in front or the restaurant. Plus making an insulting comment to your female employees and yelling at them assuming that they are on their period is illegal! I can't support this kind of behavior for a business owner! Dude! This is AMERICA and its not ok to yell at a woman at work and make the assumption that she is on her period! That was a very sexist statement to make and if day one of employment was that bad, I would hate to see how bad you insult your female employees on day two! Apparently I am not the first person to leave the owner a bad review regarding his personal charter on yelp! I was actually looking at several bad reviews from his recent cafe in Folsom,Ca... Karma Cafe which has either been closed or sold that support my information! I guess what people say is true! You can't run from bad karma! After you create it, it follows you Oh, and the owner had the nerve to try to tell me that I'm not good enough for that place! Well guess what, he's wrong! I'm too good for his place. You know how I know this? I got offered a job for one of the best cruise ships in the US just last week making more money then he will ever see from this place! read more

**Unfortunate Experience at Karma Brew** I visited Karma Brew in Sacramento yesterday as part of a margarita and taco crawl, and while my initial impression of the bar was positive, the experience quickly turned unpleasant due to a disturbing interaction with one of the owners. The bar staff seemed friendly when I first arrived, but things took a sharp turn when one of the owners aggressively demanded that I sit down, even though I was standing near my seat and not obstructing any pathways. The owner was carrying ice through the crowded bar, and rather than asking everyone in the area to clear some space, he singled me out and addressed me in an unnecessarily hostile manner. This was both surprising and hurtful, especially since there were plenty of other people standing in the same area. What upset me the most was the aggressive tone and the feeling of being targeted. All the owner needed to do was politely ask everyone to move out of the way, rather than directing his attention solely toward me. I even tried to calmly explain the situation and address his behavior, but he continued to be disrespectful. It wasn't until a younger staff member, possibly his nephew, stepped in and spoke to him, but still, nothing was done to rectify the situation or acknowledge my concerns. What made this incident particularly upsetting was the underlying tone of anti-Blackness that I felt in the way I was treated. As the only Black woman in the immediate area, it felt like I was being unfairly singled out, a reflection of the unfortunate biases and racism that still permeate many spaces. It's disheartening because the whole point of the crawl was to support local businesses, and many of us, myself included, had come to do just that. I paid for my drinks, tipped generously, and expected to be treated with respect--basic customer service that any establishment should uphold. If the bar was overwhelmed by the crowd, as it seemed to be, then more thought should have been given to how they managed the event. Simple courtesy and better customer service could have made all the difference. If they were not prepared to handle the crowd, they should have reconsidered participating in the crawl. Sadly, I cannot recommend Karma Brew after this experience. As a native of Sacramento, I've never experienced this type of treatment, and I won't be returning. I urge others to consider their options before visiting this establishment. read more

Was in here because I just moved to Sacramento a month ago and I must say, this is really one of those places that looks better on the outside then the inside. They play nothing but a few different versions of pink Floyd. I ordered a salad and it was disgusting. It looked looked like the new lettuce had been a mix of spring salad that you get at the grocery store and iceberg lettuce. Whoever prepared my salad must not have been paying very much attention because I found a rotten piece of lettuce mixed up in my salad. The I.P.A was expensive... I could go somewhere else and get them cheaper. They had a few beers on tap, but I was expecting more beers with a name like KARMA BREW. I also could have gone a few other places and gotten better selection. As for the interior.. The decor of the place all looked like it had came from a yard sale, or a thrift store. There was no real distinguished theme. It makes me think that the owner must be some sort of hoarder or something. It was dark and drafty. There were a few plants but not many. The place was also cramped and the actual bar stretched for ever. I would have liked to see more places to sit and less bar. The place also reeked of incense.. It kind of made me wonder what smell they are trying to hide. I was also greeted by a very nice girl who did not smile. It seemed like she just did not want want to be working there. She may have not liked her job. Either way, it was less then personable. I defiantly was not impressed and I defiantly will not return. Ill probably just stick to university of beer next time.
