Thai chili wings, lemon pepper, wings, barbecue chicken pizza
Tina P.

We absolutely love coming here when we are in Sacramento for either an event or just visiting friends. The chicken wings are bomb. I mean bomb. The pizza is like a small pizza and it is combo half price on the appetizers for happy hour. We always extra-order food because we like it so much. The pizza is outstanding. If you could hear my voice, it was different tones, but it is so yummy. In the heart of downtown. Definitely a must try. They have fish and chips baskets, with fries Half off their appetizers on happy hour. We've been here when it's not happy hour and their salads are definitely scrumptious also. Our server was great. David was awesome ! Super attentive super friendly!

Ordered buffalo wings, an espresso martini, and an old fashion Buffalo wings 9/10 Pretty good! Large wings An order comes with 7 pieces both flats and drums We got bone in with buffalo sauce The sauce isn't spicy at first but gets spicier as you keep eating Comes with 2 sides of ranch and 2 celery sticks What was surprising is that the wings still had a crunch when you bite into them even though they're drowned in sauce which i appreciated. Espresso martini 9/10 It was light in the coffee, mixed well, smooth and you could still taste the alcohol Old fashion 7/10 It was pretty bitter Service was quick we were seated in less than 4 min and our drinks and food came out quickly Ambiance is pretty casual here, they have a pretty small menu when it comes to food. More of a bar atmosphere.

Very sad this restaurant is closing, but so glad I was able to get in for its final day. The staff was incredibly friendly. Our waiter was Calvin and he was so kind. They were running low on food options because they were closing, but we were able to get a giant pretzel. It was absolutely delicious. We also had the Truly Wild Berry from Boston Beer Co and it was delicious.

I'm here at least once a week (more during football season). The staff from hostess to bartenders to the manager are all very welcoming, and hospitable putting an emphasis on great service. Everything we've ever ordered has been tasty. They have delicious pizzas, very generous proportioned salads, good fries, great wings, huge nachos, tasty avocado egg rolls and an amazing brownie sundae dessert. They have a lot of tvs to watch any and all sports that are airing. We like going for trivia on Wednesday's the host Tommy is awesome and has a really fun version.

Went here yesterday while visiting for a work conference. Customer service was good! Food was GREAT! Highlight was definitely the deep fried carrot cake!! The Mai Tai was too sweet for my liking but overall everything was good!

Great place to catch a game and have a cold one. Staff is friendly. Even when they're busy they still take the time to check on you. They accommodate to your needs. Pizza was tasty. Only complaint, for all meat pizza you expect a little more topping. Other than that, a pretty solid pizza. The vibe is friendly, definitely a good sports bar. Stop by if you haven't.

Came in for a few drinks on St Patrick's Day. It was busy. Service was good. Ambiance was on point for a typical place like this. I've been here many times throughout the years and they never disappoint.

This is a great spot for a chill afternoon and a couple drinks with friends. Bartenders are super friendly and check in regularly without being overwhelming. Food is good! My favorite is the prosciutto pizza, which also has arugula, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and truffle oil! The truffle oil makes it, if you ask me. Perfect with beer or glass of red. If you're in the area for business or pleasure and need a place to hang, I highly recommend this one!

The dude and I went to the Public House on 6/27/23 and 6/28/23. We were in town for his job and me must to tag along and explore . We came just for happy which was the move 100% as I personally think they have the best happy hour in Sac! You can't beat the high quality food and drinks that are so mouthwatering tasting. Every bite we were in awe! It was probably the price that made it taste even. better ! Just some humor but the food was sooooo tasty! Our severs were so wonderful and knowledgeable about the menu. We jammed out to the music and the atmosphere was so delightful. We did patio and inside and both experiences we so lovely. The nachos were so good and the pizza was so tasty . I don't eat meat now but I would definitely get the pizza again ! Highly recommend. We cannot wait to come back soon!

The pizza was excellent. We ordered a pepperoni and the public house combo. Both were fantastic. My little loved the pepperoni pizza. They brought out a cute kids water cup for her too. They had happy hour until 6 and the pizzas were half off! The restaurant has more of a bar vibe. All the TVs were playing sports and there was music playing. Overall great experience and I would return again.

The food was good and the server was helpful. We were there to watch the football game so great time with others there to enjoy as well. You can even hear the game in the restroom! Great vibe for watching sports.

The OMG - Deep Fried Carrot Cake with Ice Cream $8.25
Deanna L.

The Christmas decorations was a nice touch for the holidays and the amount of screens around the bar make it a nice place to sip on a beer while watching a game. The parking lot across the street is convenient and the service was friendly, but the food was just alright. Every item I got was fried terribly, some over done and some just overly thick. The Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich was not spicy at all and the chicken was fried till it was dried. The fish tacos would have been decent if it wasn't smothered in sriracha. My fiance and I ended our meal with the OMG because it sounded good, fried carrot cake with ice cream and pecans. When it arrived, it looked like a hot mess. Again, the batter was too thick and carrot cake was thin and just broke apart. I much rather have a regular carrot cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled on a pecan caramel sauce.

Ask the Community - Public House Downtown

Are you able to accommodate outside brunch dining for a group of 15?

our tables are bolted down outside so the party would probably be broken in to 2/3 different tables.

Do they take reservations? We called to make reservations twice and both times were told they did not take reservations. When we showed up they said "why didn't you make a reservation?" They told us they could not accommodate us.

They take reservations on their website, but they also accept walk-ins as well.

With a larger group, are we able to order individually at the bar?

No, unless you're all going to stand and with a large group that wouldn't work very well. They have wait staff for the tables.

Can it accommodate a group on 25 people?

Absolutely! I recommend a call in if it's busy hours, but they have TONS of room.

How much is the parking lot across the street? Is there a time limit as well? Thank you!

I think if I recall, it was kind of expensive (between $15 and $30) and there was street parking, if you have to drive. Frankly, we walked from the Best Western Plus hotel we stayed at and it was within walking distance from many hotels.

Are dogs allowed indoors? Or only on the patio?

Only patio. They have two small patio spaces

Do you allow dogs? We're going to be doing a fund raising walk this weekend at the Capitol and want to go to lunch afterwards, but we're also bringing our dogs this year.

We love seeing our four legged friends!!! Please do bring them.

When is happy hour?

Mon - Fri 3-6 and Sun - Thu 9 - close

Does Firestone have any vegan (meat & dairy free) options?

Avocado egg rolls are really good. I think the dipping sauce may have mayo. Portobello burger is really good and they will replace cheese with avocado. Again, burger comes with aioli so you'll have to request something else.

Is it loud on a Sunday afternoon?

Really depends on where you sit and what is going on that day. I sat outside, you could hear the radio but the noise level was only annoying when the motorcycles revved their engines as they drove by. Inside could get a bit loud, but like I said, it… Read more

At what age's can they go in?

It's that mix of a lively sports bar with really good Italian food, all inside a historic space filled with sports memorabilia. Walking in feels like stepping back in time with all the vintage photos everywhere. Knowing Joe Marty, a former professional baseball player, originally opened his bar here back in 1938 and seeing how they've renovated it without losing that character makes it feel like a really special piece of the city. One of my favorite moments was when my husband ordered a Manhattan and the bartender came over and poured it tableside. It turned into this whole little production and the table next to us immediately ordered one too, which was kind of fun to watch. The food held up just as well. My teen had the spaghetti with marinara and meatballs on the side and finished the entire plate, which says everything. I told our waiter Sean to surprise me and he brought out the lobster ravioli and I was not mad about that at all. It was so good. My husband ordered the carbonara with shrimp and that was also a hit. The bread came out warm and fresh, but just a heads up the dipping sauce was pretty spicy. Our palates was definitely feeling it, so we ended up switching to balsamic and olive oil instead. Even the restrooms had things to look at, including old Land Park newspapers, which just adds to how much character this place has. Helpful tip: If you're not sure what to order, let your server guide you. Ours nailed it. I had actually been here years ago before the renovations, so coming back and seeing it now was really special. It still has that history, just updated in the best way.

There aren't many bars around that combine drinks with classic arcade games, so it's refreshing to have a place where you can do both in one spot. They have a great variety of games to choose from--everything from classic fighting games and Pac-Man to Guitar Hero and pinball. I also really love the extras like the photo booth and air hockey, which add to the fun and make it easy to spend more time there with friends. It's strictly 21+ (not a bar and grill situation), which is honestly a plus--no kids running around. You do have to head down a set of stairs to get inside, so just be mindful if you're wearing heels. There's also a security check at the entrance where they verify IDs before letting you in. The place is almost always packed, especially on weekends. Because of that, I usually don't stay too long when it's crowded since it can start to feel a bit claustrophobic. Drinks are reasonably priced and taste fine--no real complaints there--but when it's busy, you definitely have to squeeze your way in to catch a bartender's attention. I've never had a bad experience here when going with friends, and it's generally a fun time in a group. That said, I'm not sure how enjoyable it would be if you were solo drinking, as the vibe really leans toward social, high-energy hangouts.
