I stopped by Tipsy Putt on a weekend evening with a group of three others, and we had an absolute blast. It is a fantastic addition to the Sacramento nightlife scene, especially if you're looking for something active to do while grabbing a drink. We really liked the golf offerings--the indoor course is creative and just the right amount of challenge for a casual night out. The drink selection was great. They have a solid variety of local craft beers and cocktails that pair perfectly with a round of mini-golf. The only downside was that parking was difficult to find. Since it's located right in the DOCO/Downtown area, the nearby garages fill up fast, and street parking is a gamble. Give yourself an extra 15 minutes just to find a spot! read more

Came here for a date night and it was definitely not what I expected in a good way! The inside is actually really cool and has a fun vibe. We grabbed a couple beers and played a round of the putt-putt course. The only downside was that some of the holes felt a little crowded since they're pretty close together, so at times you had to wait for people next to you to finish before you could play. Not a huge deal, just something we noticed. I also expected there to be more than 9 holes because the space itself is pretty big. Decided to come here on a whim after seeing they had promo on Groupon. Mini golf seemed like a great way to spend the afternoon on a chilly SF afternoon. We came here during on off-peak time, so the place was rather empty. It was nice to have the place mostly to ourselves and not have to wait on folks to putt, but it did add a little bit of a hollowness to the experience. Sometimes having a bit more people filling up space and bringing chatter to the background definitely adds to the vibe. At first glance, I was wondering where all the holes were as the set up seemed rather small. Plus, the courses also looked a bit underwhelming. I had been to Urban Putt years back, and I recall the courses were more decorated, a little quirky, and the vibe was more engaging. The courses here seemed a bit more sterile and low effort, but heck, I guess the point is to come here and play some mini golf. Running through the course was fine - we had our "dohs!" on the misses and had a decent time competing against each other. Cocktails were pretty light on the alcohol. They do have some other games like corn hole and giant Jenga. There were also these tabletop mini golf courses - they looked like it could be a hand version instead of a putter version of mini golf? For a venue smack dab in the middle of downtown, it's impressively spacious. There's also a neat little speakeasy known as the Trophy Room on the first floor. The tacos tasted okay. How fun was that. We went to DOCO's block party and won free tickets to Tipsy Putt's table golf and a free pint glass. I've never played table golf before and it turns out to be very fun. It's totally different than regular mini golf. Instead of aiming for the lowest score, you're trying for the highest score. You also only get 2 putts and you keep the 2nd putt score. The game goes quick so it's not an all day event. I think we were done in less then an hour. After finishing golfing we sat down and watched the end of the 49er game. This was my 2nd time here and it's a good vibe, everyone is so happy to be there and having fun. Depending on the golfing groups it can get quite loud. They server beer on tap and have a pretty good bar food assortment. We didn't get anything to eat this time, but last time I was there we got the nachos, and they were delicious and filling. I went to Tipsy Putt on a Friday around 1pm and honestly wouldn't recommend it. It was $18 for just 9 holes, which already felt a bit steep for what you get. What really stood out though was the customer service. We had a group of six, bought drinks, and had already tipped, and when we asked the bartender for an extra scorecard, we were told to just write names at the bottom of the existing one. The place wasn't even busy at the time, so it felt pretty dismissive and unhelpful. I will say the manager with the tattoos was nice and seemed helpful, but unfortunately that didn't make up for the bartender, who wasn't helpful at all. Overall, between the price, spending money on drinks, and the lack of basic service, it wasn't a great experience. read more

I've had a membership to this place for years, but haven't made it a habit to go. However, this last experience I had with hosting a work gathering here makes me wish I had been taking advantage of my lifetime membership this whole time. Serendipitously, I had been reached out to via email about a month ago as I was trying to figure out what to do for my director's going-away party. Once I confirmed it wasn't a scam (you never know these days), I was put in touch with Mira, who was so helpful with getting the event set up. She provided me with all of the options they had for space and food, and was responsive and accommodating as I had to change several details in the week leading up to the event. When I arrived about 15 minutes early, I saw that the space we had reserved was clean and ready for use. The guests trickled in slowly, but the games were always available for us to start playing, and they were on time with setting up the taco bar 30 minutes after the start of our reservation. I had purchased food for 21 people, but it felt like there was food for more than that. We ended up taking so much home that lasted us a couple of days! It seemed that my coworkers and their loved ones were able to get drinks at the bar quickly and consistently as well (it wasn't in the budget to include drinks unfortunately). Since my party wasn't even all there an hour into the 2-hour reservation, I was a bit worried that we weren't going to have enough time for everyone to enjoy themselves, but the manager, Steven, was extremely understanding, and since there wasn't a reservation after ours, allowed us to stay in the room and continue to play games. I fully understand that he didn't have to do that, so I am so grateful he allowed us the extra time. I consider it a win-win since we kept on buying drinks from the bar. Overall, a successful work-related event, and so very pleased with the way I was treated from beginning to end. Would 100% host something here again. read more

First, I would like to state that the staff that work at Tipsy Putt are so awesome! I came here for my 29th birthday and they did not fail to make it a cool experience for not only my birthday but also a first date. They all had very positive energy and were easy to converse with. There are a wide variety of drinks on tap to choose from and they have gold vibe hard kombucha which is harder to find at bars than most would think. I went on a Monday night, so I didn't have to wait in any lines and there weren't any crowds. Overall, I had such a great time spending my birthday at Tipsy Putt. I will be back! Hosted my 20 year high school reunion here for about 50 people and the experience was nothing short of amazing. From the start Mira was nothing but helpful. Had an end of year event here today and it did not disappoint! We had a taco bar with rice, beans, chips salsas, guacamole and other toppings as well as churros for dessert. The food was excellent! It was really flavorful and great quality. It was served buffet style and it was kept warm and covered. Adam was amazing working with us on menu items and truly went above and beyond. We had a large section reserved that we were able to add a few decorations for added flair. Most people played and putted a bit in addition to enjoying each other's company. Bartenders were attentive yet the drinks were a little weak (on the alcohol) for my taste. The putters and equipment check out right at the front creates a bottleneck at the entrance that can be challenging. Otherwise it's a good mix of Dave and busters and a mini golf course. Might be hard for some with accessibility needs. Eat before you get there. All in all a fun time, recommend giving it a try. read more

This is a really cool place that features golf, beer and duffleboard. My first time playing duffleboard was this location. The best way I'd explain it is kind of pool + mini golf = duffleboard. It's a fun place to play some indoor games with some friends while having some drinks. They have a wide variety of craft beers. Don't feel intimidated because if you are curious about any of them, you can ask the bartender to give you a sample of a few so you can make your decision. Once you've made your decision you can go play duffleboard or mini golf. The cool thing is that each duffleboard has a spot for you to put your drinks while you play which is pretty cool. Duffleboard is a very interesting game and I'd say its worth a try. The rules are a little different than mini golf or pool but the score sheet will explain it to you. One tip I'd say is to not play hole #9 just yet because that's when you'll be finished with your ball. You can go around and play each hole again. You can try to beat your old score or even try to get a hole in one. If you do play #9, you can also have your friends help you by making sure the ball doesn't go in so you can get multiple tries but that's up to you. This place is pretty chill whenever I've went and we never had any problems with it being overcrowded while playing duffleboard or getting drinks so that's good. Overall I highly recommend this place for little games with friends while drinking craft beer. read more

It's a great spot for a date night, hanging with a group of friends, kicking after an event downtown or just tired of the same old routine. They have miniature golf, cornhole and duffleboard as well as various other games. They have TVs so you don't miss the Kings getting their butt kick. Haha jk They have tons of food options. Located in the DOCO area of Sacramento. Parking nearby is absolutely atrocious - either relatively expensive garages or street parking that is very limited, expensive, and with a ton of nearby homeless. Very difficult to get to and coordinate for logistics if you're trying to meet up w/ friends. May need to consider a rideshare and/or if you're already in the area for another event. The putting greens are very limited and tiny - maybe only the size of a small bar overall between the 9 holes. The tabletop putt putt golf is unique, but the variations and course options are pretty limited, and the game gets repetitive pretty quickly. The overall design of the course isn't too creative, and each hole seems relatively similar to the previous. Food is decent bar fare and gastropub fare, and you also have to pick it up at the window when it's ready. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but it is downtown. Drinks are decent but also a bit on the pricier side for a simple 16 oz beer. Staff is friendly and courteous, trying to make sure everyone has a good time. Overall, wouldn't necessarily make a trip out of coming here, but if you're already in the area and looking to hang out or relax before a Kings game, it's an OK place to grab a beer and a taco while you're waiting. read more

When you head downstairs, there's a bar in the center surrounded by entertainment and on the perimeters, you'll find lots of tables and booths. My group was able to find a table that comfortably fit all eight of us on a Friday night. We all ordered drinks and half of us decided to play a quick round of putt putt. I ordered the Italian Wedding Cake shooter, and it was the perfect pick me up! It's vodka based, which usually isn't my first choice, but it was tasty and easy to down. I also had a few sips of my friend's Light the Beam, which was good too. The putt putt course is nine holes, and my friends and I made quick work of it. Went in with a group of six for mini golf and drinks. We were helped by a guy behind the bar that had a sour attitude from the jump. When we were paying for mini golf, we were explaining that two people would be on one tab and the other two people were on separate tabs for three tabs in total for four players. The guy didn't understand what we wanted after explaining multiple times, and then kept pointing and talking at me saying I was saying we had more players when that wasn't the case. He clearly got overwhelmed and once he finally made sense of the number of players and the number of tabs, he then called me rude and tried to berate me in front of the other people in the group. One of the people in our group later talked to the manager about our interaction and the manager didn't have anything to say other than thanks for letting him know. As someone who's worked in food service for years, this is piss poor customer service by both the guy behind the bar and the manager. Just say you don't care about your patrons. This place is fun (only reason for the 2 stars) but my friends and I definitely don't like giving our money to places with poor customer service like this so we definitely won't be back in the future. read more
