Everything was amazing. The patio was lovely with such great weather, the salad was huge and filling, the burger was cooked perfectly, and the soft pretzel is one of my favorites. Our cashier also offered to cut the burger in half for us without us asking because he could tell we were just gonna share everything- excellent service! Really really hoping another spot opens up in Curtis Park so we can continue having these good eats!
The location is pretty solid. It's in that Curtis Park/Oak Park area. It's pretty residential but has a couple of businesses and restaurants nearby. The parking situation might be a little tricky since Gunther's is so popular. I think you should be able to find some street parking but you will have to walk a bit and cross a busy street. The service was very quick and the cashiers were friendly. I've heard about this place for a long time and have been wanting to try their hamburgers since that is what they are known for. Their food menu is very limited and only has like 5 options lol. The flavor of the burger was a 9/10, it was juicy but also packed with flavor. Maybe I just wish it was slightly warmer. I also wanted it to be bigger due to its price tag. I was more surprised by the chicken sandwich. It was almost kind of sweet? I normally don't like coleslaw but this one was absolutely delicious. Best chicken sando I've had in Sac. They should be known for their chicken sandwiches way more than their burgers! The prices are very steep. The drinks are about $8 and are delicious The burgers and chicken sandwiches are about $20 each and are average size. Making this a ($$$) for me. Do not expect to walk out of here for under $50 for a meal for two. The price alone drops it a star away from a 5. Bottom line/TLDR: amazing chicken sandwiches but steep prices.
I came back here year after it's been a while since they advertised they'll be serving the popular seasonal beer Pliny the Younger from Russian River Brewing. I got there early to guarantee I got a beer or two after trying to go to other places after they opened only to find out they sold out. I was also craving their infamous Pangaea burger which is still one of my favorite burgers in the county. I love the service and local neighborhood ambiance this place provides. The staff and customers are all very friendly and there for a good time. It's a shame, however, that the building's landlord isn't willing to cooperate and they're set to close next month unless they find another spot to open up at. I'll admit it's going to suck not being able to grab a drink and burger then walk across the street for some Gunther's ice cream but I'm really hoping that they're able to find another location to open up at. It'll be such a shame if they're gone for good.

The mister loves getting a burger here, so we came for a weekday lunch. We were able to find street parking. The inside has some dark colors, but bright light comes in from the windows. Seating options include picnic tables & a couple of high tops inside. Tap handles decorate the walls. A TV in the corner had The Food Network on. Music plays in the background, but talk from customers carries loudly, especially if there are big groups. Water & condiments are self-accessible. Outside, there are tables & bar seating with shade. You order at the counter. Menus and lists are available to look through. The man who took our order & served our food was friendly. We both got the Pangaea Burger with Fries. The mister customized his without vegetation & sauce. I got mine without onions. It's a simple, straightforward burger that's done pretty well. The mister describes the meat as "steaky". It was juicy, beefy, & hearty. My burger seemed a lot juicier, & my bottom bun integrity suffered for it as I ate. The bacon was nice & thick, but was crisped hard & a little difficult to bite. The fries were great--thin, nicely crispy, salted well, & plentiful. We had a nice, filling lunch & satisfying burger experience.
I'm so sad to hear this place is closing down. I only got to enjoy it once. Truthfully, I don't drink, so I was here for the food. Everything I had was great. The best thing in my opinion was the Mac & cheese. The Pangaea burger was also really good. It was a big burger. The service was great and I love that you can help yourself to water, utensils, condiments, to go boxes etc. I wish the owners and staff the best.
A wonderful dining experience at Pangaea! The as new first: it's right across the street from Gunther's LOL whew! We've heard the rumors about the famous Pangaea burger and had to decide for ourselves. Open floor plan, open seating including communal style tables which I love because it compels diners to engage other patrons. There was an overflow dining area in back but we decided to sit at the bar. Allan (sp?) was our server and took excellent care of us. I forgot the lovely young lady's name took our order; she was so sweet and answered questions. We ordered the Pangaea burger and the fried chicken sandwich. No argument..thee best burger I have everrr had! Wow! Kiss to the chef for grilling my burger to the perfect medium. Listen, the burger checks all the boxes: taste, texture, temperature. And never mind the flavor carnival in my mouth! My mistake was assuming I could eat half the burger and have of the fried chicken sandwich. The half burger took me out! However that was not the agreement so I tasted the chicken. Nice and crunchy and perfectly seasoned. We were fortunate to sit between two long term patrons who share their favorite (shocker..the burger!), and their favorite beers. Pangaea gives "Cheers" vibes (ok, I just dated myself); you could tell many of the patrons were regulars. From the way they engaged each other as well as the staff, the atmosphere felt like home away from home. Beautiful culture Pangaea has built. We shall return!
Hadn't been to Pangaea in a bit so we decided to have dinner and a couple of beers. We decided on the Pangaea Burger and Loaded Fries with pulled pork. Burger was on point and had to bring half of it home because it was so filling. The burger came with fries and my only complaint was that it needed to be served on a bigger tray (see pic). My son had the loaded fries and he said they were just ok, thus the 4 star rating. Beers were good. Service was good and we received our food pretty quick considering it was a Saturday night. The seating inside is good with an extra room with additional seating. It was a little dark but not bad. Started to get a little loud as it got busier but not horrible. They also had ample outside seating. We will be back.
Always trying to find some of the best chicken sandwiches & Pangaea gets it done! The fried chicken sandwich here is pretty good. If you're not of fan of spice just ask for no habanero aoli. Sandwich still packed a lot of flavor without it. Perfect crunch on the chicken too! Overall 10/10 I also tried one of their sauces called D2T & that was really good for the fries. The sandwich too but it's personal preference!

Cute spot for pub food in Sacramento right across Gunther's ice cream! My friends & I stopped by for lunch here and received prompt service. The seating outside is ample and very welcomed on a nice day! I ordered the grilled cheese with garlic fries and it was a solid, classic take on the meal. Lots of beer & cider options here as well! Only thing I would say is that there are not many vegan or vegetarian options, but otherwise loved this spot!
Five stars for Pangaea Bier Cafe accommodating our large group of 19 on short notice. Five stars for their great variety of beer and ciders. Five stars for their ability to get orders out quickly after ordering at the counter. 4 stars for the food. $17 for my smallish Buffalo chicken salad that looked better than it tasted as the chicken was too salty. Others in our party liked their burger, tacos, nachos, chicken wings, and mac n cheese. But a few also thought their chicken was too salty. Overall, fun place for a casual hang out and really fun with a big group of friends. Biggest con is the lack of parking especially with Gunther's Ice Cream across the street. Staff are friendly and kept our tables clear of dishes.
I've always wanted to check out Pangaea after following them on Instagram. When I walked in I realized this is an order at the counter type of place. I was debating between a Burger or the Chicken Sandwich. When talking to the Cashier, she mentioned how their burger won a lot of rewards so I decided to get that with a Pilsner. I got the side salad instead of the fries. I like how they don't up charge for that. The total was $37 total including tip. After receiving my food the burger and side salad looked great! When I tried the burger it tasted average . But not worth $21. I had better burgers in Sacramento for less. The side salad was average. The beer tasted average. Overall the customer service was good, and I may come back to try their chicken sandwich and a different beer. I just wouldn't get the burger again.

BEST PRETZELS IVE EVER HAD! And with the beer cheese?? Umm yes please! Crispy fries? Sign me up! Juicy burger? I'm there! The staff are great! I'm so sad it's closing because I only just discovered this place a month ago! Definitely stop by before it's gone! read more
Really hoping ownership and the landlord can come to some sort of favorable resolution otherwise this location will be closing by March 19th, 2026. This has been a staple in Sacramento Eats since it first opened. Anyone who loves beer and a good burger knows Pangaea is #1. Brought my son and he absolutely loved their wings. Said the sauce was perfect. Fries got all ate up as well. My burger reminded me of that classic juicy cheeseburger you first had as a kid and never looked back. I'll be back before the schedules last day of operations to support and keep up with what their next move is. Good luck guys and thanks for all the phenomenal food and awesome vibes! read more
Directly across the street from Gunther's ice cream sits this non-descript watering hole. There were patrons inside and out as well as many standing around the bar. I was able to get to the front of the line and order their burger that I was told was one of the best. I grabbed a beer as well because it was one of those days ya know! I took my number sign and found some space next to a couple playing card games on a bench inside. They had a self serve icewater area that I was able to fill up my water bottle. I was also able to grab some ketchup to enjoy those fries. My burger and fries was delivered and there were more fries than expected. I focused on those first because who like cold fries, right??? The fries were actually pretty good, an above average standard French fry with salt. The burger however was phenomenal. There was an amazing crust on the outside reminiscent of a backyard bbq. There was ample bacon, lettuce, cheese and sauce to make it a balanced bite. The bun was high end brioche style, they really went all out on quality of ingredients. A standard burger build but done perfectly! Beer was cold, food was great and the ambiance is a perfect local bar. Great spot to go if you don't mind hunting for a parking space. read more

Every time I try to come here it's always packed so we decided to go midday on a Friday. Still was some people In there but got a seat at the bar.its always packed for a reason. Nice vibe inside that can be loud at times. Very good beer selection with a bottle shop for those hard to find beers. The service was quick and very pleasant and helpful. Now the food is exceptional. You gotta try their Pangea burger which is one of my top 10 burgers in Sac. It starts off with a Grilled chuck and brisket patty, cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, house pickles, & special sauce on a brioche bun. Very very good. We also had a fried chicken sandwich with Crispy fried chicken thigh, house made slaw, pickles, & habanero aioli on a brioche bun. Both were very Smakin!!! Please try this place if you haven't you will not be disappointed. read more
We can't come to Sac without coming to our most fave place. It is always spectacular, and it never disappoints. Today we came for lunch at opening time and met up with friends. The staff were so friendly, they graciously heated up my kids food I packed for him. He only ate half because he was devouring the fries and pretzel. I can't tell you what a blessing and a curse it is that they have the best soft pretzel. You can't eat pretzels anywhere else because they will suck. Our go to: - Fried chicken sandwich (best ever) with sub house salad (also the best ever) -Burger with fries (both the best ever) - soft pretzel - Beer And if you are like me, you will eat a very light breakfast so you can stuff your face here and take the rest of pretzel home and scarf it down. Did I mention the vibe is super large group and kid friendly? read more

Hadn't seen my buddy in a while, and we decided to catch up over some food. He had been wanting to try this place, and I had seen it pop up a few times on Instagram--so we figured why not? We heard the burgers were legit, so we went for their famousPangaea Burger, and I added some wings and a cold beer on the side. We got there right as they opened, so it wasn't busy at all--food came out quick, hot, and fresh. Both of us got the burger with fries, and everything was on point. The wings were also really good--crispy, flavorful, and definitely worth adding to the order. Service was quick, friendly, and efficient. The atmosphere was chill when we arrived (since it was early), but you could tell the place picks up--people started rolling in as we were leaving. Overall, just a good experience across the board. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other menu items. If you're in the area and looking for a quality burger spot, definitely give this place a shot. read more
My husband had a craving for the Fried Chicken sandwich, so here we are. I wanted a light lunch and the Tacos-14 filled the bill (and me). As always, the staff is welcoming and helpful, and it's a comfortable place to hang out. read more

Food: The food here is good. I find the general bar, pub, or whatever you want to call scene food here in Sac to be very pedestrian relative to bigger cities where the kitchens can be very impressive. No doubt the food here is above average relative to the kitchens in this genre and definitely superior to what you get elsewhere here. As others have said or insinuated, I could give this 5 stars based off the beer list. Super impressive. Get the burger obviously. The fried chicken sandwich is also a very strong move. Service: You order at the counter. I've had no bad or questionable interactions with anyone. Ambiance: Cool and cozy vibe. Definitely not one of those curated bar experiences, which I think makes this place more charming relative to the bars and breweries in Sac. read more

So good! Large beer selection and their garlic fries with ranch are AMAZING! The servers are really nice and let me taste 3 beers before picking one out. I really appreciated that! There's plenty of space inside, but I like to sit outside when I come. There's also plenty of shaded outdoor seating. This is a great place to go for dinner and especially before getting Gunther's. Only thing is it's quite expensive. Two mains and two beers and tip costs us $79. read more
The service is always great! They have a delicious variety of beers and ciders! In addition, the food is always delicious! Have tried everything on their menu just yet but I do love their falafel burger and their nachos! The restaurant is a good size, nice ambiance plus plenty of outdoor seating to chill during their summer days/nights! read more

Looking for a beer, Pangaea was close and we had always wanted to try it and decided now was the time! We all love sour beers and they are sort of going out of fashion these days so it was wonderful that they had a few ready to go! All of the beers that we tried were very good and the bartender was quick with recommendations and samples. We also ordered Chicken Wings, Pulled Pork Nachos and Garlic Fries all of which were delicious! I especially loved the wings which had a good amount of meat on them, the sauce was perfectly spicy and both the ranch and blue cheese went good with them. We are almost always with friends too so a nice, comfortable counter service restaurant is always welcome in my book. So happy we finally made it in! read more

I have only been to Pangaea one other time - many moons ago and I cannot remember what there service or the food was like. We came here on a Friday to meet some friends and found a nice picnic table outside since we had a dog with us. Service was nice and they gave great recommendations to my friend who had a few food allergies. We ordered the Pangaea Burger, Hot Wings, Stew and Mashed Potatoes, Mac and Cheese and a Buttered Pretzel. My husband said the burger was not as good as the last time he had it unfortunately. I really liked the fries, but the mashed potatoes could have used a little more salt in my opinion. My friend didn't seem to love the Mac and Cheese either. I like that they have a separate beer store inside where you can buy beers to bring home. Overall, I did not love the food, but I did enjoy the chocolate cherry cider I had and the overall vibe. Plus, having Gunther's Ice Cream across the street is an added bonus! read more
Before all of my recent Sacramento adventures, I didn't know a ton about the growing food scene here, but the one thing I was absolutely sure about was how strong the beer scene is. Not in the "it's one big drinking town" sort of way, but, rather, that folks here both appreciate and support their local craft breweries. What's more, there seems to be no shortage of places around to enjoy said beers. Then again, with the likes of Pangaea around, how could anyone not want to come out to support spots like this? First and foremost, being a bier cafe, Pangaea's beer selection is probably what will draw most folks here and I can say that it is quite impressive. Each time I've been here, their exact offerings have never been exactly the same (stuff will rotate on and off), but they always have a solid variety of options, featuring ales, lagers, sour beers, IPAs, double IPAs, ciders, and so much more. As for their food menu, it's no slouch either - it may not be super expensive, but just about everything they offer is enticing, whether it be their burger, fried chicken sandwich, nachos, or fries, among other things. Typical bar food, perhaps, but perfectly fine when you want to get down and dirty with something to go with your refreshingly cold beer! -- FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH - Crispy Fried Chicken Thigh, House Made Slaw, Pickles, and Habanero Aioli with Garlic Fries (+$4)...$19 Aside from the bun's burnt edges, this was awesome! The chicken was crispy and not heavily battered on the outside while juicy on the inside. Also, I liked how there wasn't an overwhelming amount of slaw and how well it meshed with the pickles and aioli to go along with the chicken and bun. -- PANGAEA BURGER - Grilled 1/2 LB Chuck and Brisket Patty, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles and Special Sauce on Brioche Bun with Garlic Fries (+$4)...$21 Talk about a hefty boy! This is clearly a beefy burger, but what I loved most is how it wasn't the least bit messy/greasy. The cheddar and bacon perfectly complemented the patty and the veggies were incredibly fresh! I can see why so many folks rave about this! As tasty as both the burger and chicken sandwich were (as well as our beers), I'd be remiss not to note that the $4 upcharge to go from fries (or coleslaw) to garlic fries does feel a bit heavy compared to what I've been charged at other places. That being said, the garlic fries here are legitimately some of the best I've had, so it just depends on how much you want some really good garlic fries (for the record, my wallet may not have been thrilled, but my stomach certainly was). Upcharge aside, there's a whole lot about Pangaea that I like and not much that I don't. The food is great, the beer selection is terrific, and service was warm and friendly when we were here. Whether it's for a casual meet up with friends, happy hour, a low-key date, or just to cap an awesome/rough week at work, Pangaea is an awesome spot for a hangout of any kind! read more
I love this place! It has a fun little "hole in the wall" feel but everything is so yummy and they have such a good selection of food and drinks. It's a walk up and order and then find your table style. Personally I love that since it gives it more a casual feel. The service has always been so good everytime. I usually get their Buffalo chicken salad which never disappoints. I accidentally took a bite before taking the pic! And then I'll sometimes get a side of the garlic fries. Solid little place that has a number of beers on tap. Came in for a quick bite after having an event down the street, and was pleasantly surprised. Bonus points for me are self serve water station that's constantly refilled, along with the ability to grab utensils, condiments, and to-go boxes at the same time. Those always are great to have at a food serving establishment. The staff we interacted with were great. While the food wasn't the most mind-blowing, knock off my socks type of food, the things we did order was solid and hit the spot. If I were back in the Curtis Park area, I would definitely come back. I'd want the ability to try the alcoholic choices they had on tap, and maybe discover a new favorite. read more

Great local spot for beer and food with plenty of outdoor seating. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at their selection of drinks and classic "bar" food. Despite their large selection of beer, I got a cider which was very good. We ordered the Pangaea burger and the fried chicken sandwich. The Pangaea burger was solid - the patty was generous and good quality meat. The fried chicken burger was alright - nothing too special. The fries were very good, especially the garlic fries. You order at the counter and they bring out your food so the service was minimal but they were all very friendly. This seems like a great spot to meet up with friends for a drink, especially in the summer when we can make use of the outdoor seating they have. read more

First off, want to make this clear, this place is more a pub/ taproom that sells food rather than a restaurant. This is evident in the quality of their food. Fried chicken sandwich: 3/5 some parts of the chicken were as dry and hard as jerky, actually difficult to eat. At least the French fries were delicious. Others in the group got burgers which looked juicy and said were good. Chickpea sandwich: 1/5 (soggy bread, flavorless chickpea patty). Their side salad was perfectly dressed. Recommend going with one of their salads. Definitely not worth $16 IMO. Great selection of beer. Pub ambiance, with outdoor seating. Service was ok, they were busy and it was reflected in the interactions. Good place for a beer especially given their proximity to Gunther's for dessert after. Food definitely not worth the restaurant prices. read more

The kiddos were craving burgers and fries! I've heard this place is the bomb. The minute we got inside it was self serve, it wasn't busy for a weekend. The inside was empty but spacious for families and friends! It's a great to hang out for the brewery! read more
Been here a couple times and the service is always great. The staff is always so helpful on making sure the beer you selected is exactly what you are looking for. The food is also an added bonus, not a lot of breweries have a really good kitchen. The inside is roomy and is also accommodating for families. read more

I had never been to Pangaea but always wanted to try it out since I frequent Gunther's often! I came with my colleagues for a work lunch because they liked the fried chicken sandwich here! We ordered inside and paid inside before we sat down. They have inside seating and outside seating. We decided to sit outside on the picnic tables because it was such a beautiful day. They brought us our food promptly and checked up on us! I got the Pangaea Burger with a side of fries. The burger was ginormous and super juicy. I got the patty cooked medium and it was perfect. The fries were delicious paired with the burger. My colleague said the fried chicken sandwich was yummy as always but that Fixins had a better one. I tried a bite of her chicken sandwich, and I wasn't a huge fan. One of them got the falafel sandwich and they thought it was just okay, they thought it would be on pita instead of wheat. The grilled chicken sandwich came with a HUGE chunk of feta, it was too much feta. Overall, this place was yummy and I would come back to try their other items. Over the years, Pangaea has been an easy choice to grab a bite to eat and some solid beer. It's a staple in the community and they've only gotten better with time! I'm going to talk about the obvious choice and something you can never go wrong with, The Pangaea Burger is a no skip selection if you're trying them out for the 1st time, or 2nd or 3rd. For someone like myself who lives on a bed of indecisiveness when it comes to trying to find food, it's an easy settle when I think of that burger. Grilled chuck an brisket w/ applewood smoked bacon and of course all the fixings that come along with that! Also the French fries are fantastic and you get a nice stack to pair with your burger. There are many great options of food and beer. If you're looking for something lighter, There's salad options as well. Service here has always been friendly and even though they can can get busy sometimes, i've never had to wait too long to get my food. You order/pay at the register and seat yourself. There's some seating inside and a bountiful amount of covered outdoor seating. Forewarning that parking can be hectic and there's a lot of pedestrian traffic in the area (I think people like icecream, idk). This is your calling to try 1 of the best burgers in Sacramento! read more

No, you order at the register and they deliver your food to your table. If you need anything else you have to go to the cashier and ask for it.

I've never seen a non-alcoholic beer on tap here.
Do you serve brunch/ bottomless mimosas?
Not anymore :((( their brunch and bottomless mimosas were my favorite in Sacramento
Are they still dog friendly and is the patio open during the fall in the evenings?
Yes! The patio is very dog friendly (they will even bring you water bowls) and also open year-round. Enjoy!
