I ate at Flaming Grill for the first time yesterday and the food was great! I had the Mushroom burger, fries, and a beer ( I forget its name). The burgers are huge so you'll need to bring your appetite! Our server Lilian was very nice and attentive. The bar tender and chef came out and greeted us and check how we were enjoying our meal. I hadn't been to Country Club Plaza in years and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food, service, and atmosphere, was at Flaming Grill. The only "negative" I could see was that decor was old and dated but that didn't detract from experience. read more

We came here hoping to try that Camel Burger, but it wasn't available unfortunately. I ended up trying an Elk Burger, while my wife went with the Buffalo Burger. The Hoser wings I tried the previous time I came here wasn't very spicy as advertised, but this time aroumd the spice was definitely there. Both of our burgers seemed too bland, though the buffalo burger was cooked perfect and the BBQ helped a little. I can't say the same for my elk burger. Very bland amd a little undercooked. I know elk is lean and is supposed to be prepared a certain way, but this was like biting into an undercooked steak with no seasoning. It wasn't for me, I guess. I will say that the staff are always attentive and friendly. They refunded me for a Coke that was very flat which was nice. And ti be honest for the amount of food you get (nice sized portions), you are definitely getting value for what you order. Everything is reasonably priced. It has that old-school Sacramento hidden gem feel, tucked inside the old Country Club Mall, serving huge portions, quality ingredients, and one of the best burgers in town. Flaming Grill has been serving Sacramento since 2007, and after trying it, I get why they've lasted this long. This is the kind of spot people are going to wish they found sooner. The inside is spacious, super clean, and has a fun, open-air feel with the big arch windows. There are tons of tables, TVs, a full bar, big murals, and a great local craft beer selection on tap. It's casual, but still has way more vibe than you'd expect from a spot tucked inside the mall. The owner was super friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed right away. Food came out fast, portions were huge, and the flavors were even bigger. We tried the gator bites, smokehouse burger, and pastrami sandwich. The smokehouse burger was insane. Juicy, loaded, messy in the best way, and made with quality ingredients you can actually taste. If you're craving a real-deal, fatty, satisfying burger, this is the spot. The pastrami sandwich was stacked, flavorful, and super filling. The garlic fries were AMAZING!! Best ones we've had, hands down. Super garlicky and the fries were crispy without getting soggy. The gator bites were fun to try too, especially because their menu is so different from your average burger place. The owner super cool AF, he even put on the basketball game for us without us even asking. He saw we were watching from our phone and he turned it on in his line of sight. UPDATED REVIEW! My husband and I have been visiting Flaming Grill since they opened at their very first location. We always visit when our friends are in town because they love Flaming Grill too. We visited on Saturday for lunch to fuel up before my birthday celebration! It had been a while since we visited, but it always tastes consistently the same which is a great thing! Odin always takes care of us and makes us feel welcomed! On this last visit, we ordered the Bacon Blue Burger and Carne Asada Fries to share and they were so good! My daughter loved her Mozzarella Sticks with Fries that she ordered as well. Ambiance is always warm and inviting with lots of seating inside and a patio area as well. Tucked away in mall that is no longer bustling busy is one of the best burger joints I've been to in a long time ! The exotic meat menu and variety is outstanding, Elk, Buffalo, Venison, Boar and Camel! I had the camel because give never had it and was worried it could be dry but it was cooked perfectly per my request for medium rare! The pink inside sat on a bed of pickles and lettuce with some tasty aioli on buttered and toasted sourdough. It was large and delicious! Everything was fresh and brought out warm from the kitchen including the sweet potatoes fried in garlic . The service was knowledgeable, engaged and friendly without being pushy and answered all my questions diligently. I had a Porter as they were out of the Guiness, and it was chocolate and malt frosty wonderfulness. My date had and enjoyed the cheddar jack burger and a IPA. I will definitely be back because I love boar, venison and buffalo and they can be hard to find. The camel was tasty and fresh and a lot like beef but a bit different, not gamey but mild and tasty. The country club mall might be past its prime but Flaming Grill Cafe has gotta be one of the reasons why it hasn't fully shut down. This weekend we were craving a good burger and always walk past here whenever we're in the area to watch a movie. I've seen a couple reviews in the past and saw that many claimed this was one of the best burger spots in Sacramento. Spoiler alert: they are We walked in and were seated quite fast as it wasn't busy. The service overall is pretty good with the employees all seeming pretty chill. The restaurant itself is pretty clean and does offer "outdoor seating" (just outside the restaurant, which is indoors) The burger itself is really good and overall fairly priced for the size and flavor. I really like how it's well seasoned and juicy all throughout with the cooking temp exactly how we asked for it. Both the mushroom Swiss burger and bacon avocado burgers are really good. The burgers don't come with fries but for just 5$ or less more you can get some specialty fries. We opted for the asada fries and they don't disappoint. I first discovered this place when it was at their old location and I remember it being good... well fast forward a million years later... we returned. 11/10 would recommend. I called, and the lady who answered was so kind. I placed my wife's order, then I asked for her recommendation. Without hesitation she said pastrami burger. Had a Sunday lunch with some of my boys from the Chatty House (ESPN 1320's YouTube channel). Located in what used to be a mall, Flaming Grill's location is a little confusing but I found it without incident. There were 5 of us total and the restaurant got us in and seated quickly. They even accommodated us to a bigger table which was nice. The server was on his A game. Getting our drink orders, he could tell we were thirsty. The drink list was aplenty here. From IPA's to ciders there's something for everyone. They serve exotic meats here such as elk, venison, gator, and wagyu. Although none of us were brave enough to try them it's nice to have options! Went with the smoke house cheeseburger which comes piled high with bbq sauce and string onions. Fries were bomb and burgers on point here, would highly recommend giving this spot a shot. First time here, we drove from Galt to see if this place lived up to its reputation and it did! (It is inside country club plaza, we parked near planet fitness entrance area). We came in with a party of 10 and were immediately greeted and seated in a private area all to our selves. Being a Wednesday it was not too crowded. Our server who I later found out was the owner, was awesome! He answered all our questions, gave recommendations and customized my burger. All our food came out timely ,fresh and hot! My IPA was served in a chilled glass and deliciously cold. I got the peanut butter and jelly burger with bacon and fried jalapeños, and tots. Juicy and delicious. Bring on the napkins! Our party also got the smokehouse, bacon avocado brisket burger, black and blue angus burger , carne asada burger, pastrami burger, regular fries, sweet potato fries, carne asada fries and kids got chicken nuggets. Decided to give them another shot after having a disappointing experience 4 years ago. Things seemed better overall today. It was pretty dead inside so I was able to be seated immediately at the bar. I enjoyed a $5 blonde ale along with half orders of chicken adobada fries and carne asada fries for $6 each. Their adobada fries are still some of my favorite fries that I haven't been able to enjoy as much due to this location being much further from me than their Elk Grove location that closed during COVID. I've always enjoyed their food but found their service to be very hit or miss in the past. I wouldn't mind coming back if I'm in the area although I'm not sure how much time they have left since the bartender was telling me something about them trying to stick around so IDK if that's a warning sign that they might eventually close down permanently. Came to Flaming Grill Cafe because the thought of having exotic animal meat in a burger really intrigued me. Flaming Grill Cafe is located inside the mall so it was already unique that they serve such rare meats in a mall setting. It definitely used to be an Italian bistro with the fresco and fake grape decor. We ordered: - Ranch burger with CAMEL meat: this was actually really delicious. Although I didn't really taste a difference between beef (maybe a bit more gamier). - Asada burger with regular beef: SO enjoyed this but forgot to ask for no jalapenos, so he did find hidden peppers in his meal after picking as much of it off. - Half size asada fries: same deal as the burger, not bad - Half size bacon and blue fries: this was blue cheese overload and was only ok - Side of Hoser sauce: this is their homemade habanero sauce and was legit spicy. Super good. Service was decent. The SO had come here in the past and felt weirded out when the owner (?) started speaking to his party unprovoked and kept rambling. I was very nervous to step out of my comfort zone and order anything other than beef. I ended up getting an elk burger and it tasted amazing. Very rich but fresh burger. My husband got the boar burger and cleaned his plate! The carne asada fries were a little too greasy for my taste however. On top of that great meal the staff was awesome. We ordered Gatorade bites, mozzarella sticks, wings and 3 hamburgers and an order of garlic fries since the hamburgers do NOT come with fries. My son liked his regular burger. My husband ordered a Swiss burger and said he didn't like it. I ordered a chorizo burger. Garlic fries were greasy and had very little garlic flavor. Gator bites were way to chewy...last piece I bit looked raw! Sauce was good tho. I can't vouch for anyone but my own burger. Burgers are big, my burger had no flavor.... I salted it but it made no difference. Bit the jalapeño, still no flavor. The chorizo didn't taste like chorizo and I couldn't even tell there was an egg in it. The sour cream over powered everything in it. I didn't eat it all as it started to make my stomach not feel well. We tried it.... we weren't fans and probably won't be back. read more

Went for the Elk Burger, got the CAMEL! Reminiscent of a bison burger... lean 'n tasty. Started with a mini taco cos we love melted crusty cheese on the outside - mmm! Wanted some gator, so ordered the Po Boy. Legit. GREAT bread and flavors. Nice draft selection, too. Owner sat us and chatted a bit. Very nice hardworking man. Two of his daughters were waitressing, too. Reason why he's in the mall, he was there pre-Vid and it was starting to revitalized until it wasn't. Now, stores are slowly coming back and I hope it brings more patrons to this fabulous establishment. Lotta regulars getting takeout and/or sitting @ the bar solo and enjoying a brew 'n burger. Tried Flaming Grill Cafe this afternoon after reading posts on F/B yesterday regarding the best burgers under $15 in Sacramento. We had the $13.99 cheddar burger, mozzarella sticks, avocado bacon burger, and fries- all cooked to order and each 1/2lb angus patties. They were perfect! Delicious. So big we could barely finish them. Great service and very friendly. They have an engaging selection of beer on tap - I had a Belgian Chimay and my husband had a Porter called 'coffee and cigarettes' - we liked both. The decor is kind of an industrial style that goes with the old Country Club Center location next to the movie theater. Tons of parking. We'll be back!
