Oink Oink! I can't see anything ahead of me! That's the first impression I came across when I heard about a fictitious business name being called "The Blind Pig". And I've got to say, I am not a big fan of the glitzy, glamorous, or high-end bars that are popping out everywhere. I'm as old-school as you can get so when I frequent a dive bar that I've never stepped foot in, its truly a hidden treasure in all respects. And that is just what I got when frequenting "The Blind Pig" Located on El Camino Ave. and adjacent to Mission Ave. in the Carmichael neighborhood of Sacramento, "The Blind Pig" is definitely like taking my DeLorean time machine back 20+ years and taking a step down memory lane. The parking lot in this area is dim, gritty, and uninviting to outsiders. But don't let that keep you from entering in the "Pig". The nice luxury of all of this is parking is a breeze as all of the surrounding businesses have closed for the day. I came here with my lovely lady, Claudia H. on a rainy Sunday evening. And to add even more magic to this evening, fellow Yelpers Jana T. and Miguel O. met up with us to enjoy our company, conversation, and concoctions. They both added a ray of positive energy, great vibes, and an intellectually engaging conversation which flowed so well throughout the duration of the evening. We kept our drinking to a bare minimum as Jana T. and I indulged in a crisp cold Bud light while my lady went for a Blue Moon. And since Miguel O. isn't the drinker like the rest of us, he enjoyed a complimentary Diet Coke. As far as the interior layout goes, a few words to describe "The Blind Pig" is definitely dark and mysterious. And to add more of that vintage-retro flavor, there was a nice collection of wood inlays that look as if they're from a bygone era. Additionally, for those who wish to partake in some entertainment for the evening, they offer a dartboard and shuffleboard for your convenience. We all ended up seating ourselves towards the rear of the bar. I particularly enjoyed the posh 70's-inspired upholstery of the oversized sofa that we sat on. And it was only appropriate that we sat under the actual picture of the blind pig himself, eyepatch and all as he mysteriously stared at us from every angle. Some other nice features were plenty of pub-styled tables & chairs, a stretched bar area, and an abundance of patrons that you'll never find lingering into Midtown Sacramento. Overall, "The Blind Pig" definitely does not disappoint as it has earned two thumbs up in my book. Sometimes if you don't want to fight the parking, crowds, and high prices that other bars offer in busier areas, I would definitely give "The Blind Pig" a try. Trust me, if you're a lover of dive bars like myself, you will enjoy the ambiance and service here!

Star Trek pinball machine! Need I say more? It is highly logical. I just need to restock my supply of quarters for next time. $12 in quarters and four G & T at Blind Pig and I am a happy boy! :)

Matt having a great time behind the bar!

Love this bar, Matt the day bartender is awesome! Very friendly place, great drinks, great pricing! Lots of TVs with a huge projector for sports games, and if you like pinball they have three pinball machines, Buck hunter, Golden Tee and darts!

Reflective lights kill the pic but its cute as all hell and old school ;)

If the "delicious mexican food next door" Alisa is talking about is from El Palmar next door, I'd have to respectfully disagree.

While a booth would be preferable as they can accommodate a group our size, those are prized on Trivia night. This evening, staff brought an additional four stools to the bar so we could all sit. They were out of the "Jackrabbit done gone working(?) Pilsner" so, I ordered the lager. On the special list was a rib eye, but I didn't care for the sides (garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus), so I went with the New York off the main menu which included herbed butter, mashed potatoes, heirloom tomato with crumbled gorgonzola. Steak was done to medium rare perfection, potatoes delicious and I very much enjoyed the tomatoes. Katie ordered a salad, She and JJ shared her margarita pizza. It was huge. We brought some home. Didn't see what the others ordered but all enjoyed their food and drinks. Trivia here is a ton of fun. Friends have hired the emcee for private gatherings. The stress over seating may have us seeking out another venue.

One of my friends swears by this spot, and now that I've been a few times, I totally get the hype…read more It's a charming little place tucked away in plain sight, and honestly, it's the perfect combo of good food, strong drinks, and laid-back vibes. I usually grab a seat at the bar. It's got that fun, mellow energy that makes it a great place to chill and catch up. The service is consistently solid, and everything just feels easy and relaxed. This time around, we hit up the happy hour menu and ordered a few appetizers. The nachos were solid, but the cheese bread stole the show. So. Freaking. Good. Totally worth the carb splurge (even if tomorrow me might have some regrets... today me has zero). If you're into low key spots that check all the boxes without trying too hard, this one's definitely worth checking out
