The Long Shot - Salsa Kang - Dive Bars Near Me - Sacramento, California

I'm newly transplanted from the Bay Area and had the good fortune of landing next to this place. It is a classic dive bar loaded with friendly locals and even friendlier bar tenders--Matt, Paul and Carson with the healthy pours at prices that cannot be beat. The (happy hour) crowd is an eclectic mix of white and blue collar folk, that don't make me feel like the old guy in the room. I feel so fortunate to have found this place. I always look forward to HH there. Always a good time with interesting conversations. I never fail to belly laugh while there. Go check it out! read more

Bartender Matt especially took care of us great drinks nice ambiance. Went there at 2pm read more

The Long Shot - Cadillac margarita - Dive Bars Near Me - Sacramento, California

Best margarita in a dive bar thus far done by Carson one the bartenders. All of the bartenders are super nice and they make you feel like home. The space itself is like any other dive bar. They allow you to play music and darts. They maintain the bathrooms clean which is always a plus in my book. This place has become a staple and I'm happy my friend introduced me to the kind people who are regulars. read more

Great spot to take friends, great prices and the bartenders are awesome. The owner is super nice and the place is super clean. They have a bunch of different beers and all the cocktails. Long bar to sit at with a bunch of high tops. I like this place. read more

Love this place. $5.50 for Tito Soda and it's more like a double Tito soda. Amen to the Long Shot

Lately I've only been able to stop by occasionally on the weekend to have a beer. Paul is outstanding professionally trained mixologist which he has those capabilities, but he's not a tool like that (no disparaging for people that appreciate that) just a good old fashion dive bar good guy. Have fun! read more

The Long Shot - a bar with stools and neon signs - Dive Bars Near Me - Sacramento, California

THE. BEST. PERIOD. Stiff drinks, great people (and people watching), karaoke, and so many great time. The best dive bar out there. read more

I just spent a few hours at The Long Shot today, and found it to be a terrific "Dive Bar" in Arden across from Whole Foods. The bartender was very attentive, as well as handsome, the drinks were well poured, and the customers were fun and talkative. Just what you're looking for at a bar. I highly recommend the bar. Next time, I'll try it at night, but I doubt it will be any more fun. PJ ( A happy Customer) read more

The most fun you'll have behind a gas station is right! Cheap drinks, fun bartenders. No food but that's okay.

Matt is always a pleasure and makes great drinks!! Wonderful neighborhood watering holes. Can't wait to try it again!!

Truth: The most fun you'll have behind a gas station. It is framed and hung against the back wall of the bar. This place has to be the most divey of all dive bars I have ever been to in my life. It is also the cheapest bar I have ever been to as well. It reminds me of what a bar would look like in the 80's. Go here if you want basic, cheap drinks. read more

If I could describe the Long Shot in one word, it would be "skeezy." Unfortunately there aren't many other bars in Arden Park, especially if you're seeking a younger crowd, so I've been here more than I'd like to admit. One of my main goals in life is to do everything I can to NOT become a regular here because the regulars are really trashy and/or creepy. The good: cheapest and stiffest drinks I've encountered. I like my drinks stiff, but it was a bit much for even my drunk ass. I was tempted to ask the bartender for some more tonic in my Tom Collins. The bad: shady and/or sloppy drunk patrons (see the aforementioned stiff drinks), small and unexciting building that almost never has enough room for the amount of people there (weekend clusterfucks), bartenders who pick and choose who they'll serve first regardless of how long they've been waiting for a drink, general bartender douchebaggery, the lack of a pool table making its "Long Shot" name disingenuous, and a jukebox with a good selection but costs $1 per song -- too rich for my blood. The Long Shot's only real highlight is the ability to get trashed for cheap, which is important and earned it its second star, but if you end up here, be prepared to deal with the questionable clientele. read more

I would not drink here in a box. I would not drink here with a fox. I would not eat green eggs and ham. I would not drink here Sam I am!!!! Really...this place, granted it is basically the only bar in the arden park area, is like drinking in a box. It is all of those people from the area that never got a job it seems like that you knew in high school or middle school. And if it isn't those people, on fridays and saturdays a few of the random old men go here to look at all of the "21" year old girls here, because I swear on those nights, especially karaoke night the average age, minus the old wrinkly perverts, is probably around 19!! I never felt old in a bar before until Long Shot, and that is just weird. Oh ya and my drink was not good either. I guess everyone was nice and everyone seemed to be having a good time, but it literally is drinking in a square box because this place is so small and so packed on fridays and saturdays with dumb people, that you feel like one of those mimes trapped in a box, only with a bad drink in your hand!!!!!!! read more

Yes this place can be called a small box, but oh the fun you will have in the box. The drinks are always good, not watered down, and staff friendly. It can get busy on Saturday nights, but if your just looking for a place to stop in and have a drink or two this is the place to stop. It's a bar, so don't expect anything fancy or over the top. More like a smaller Cheers. As my friend puts it, " the most fun you'll have behind a gas station!" It is located behind the Valero gas station across from Whole Foods. Stop in and give it a try. read more

If you're looking for a dive bar to get drunk in, The Long Shot is a good option. Small square bar with a jukebox, 2 dart boards, an arcade game and 3 or 4 TVs. It's a little more media-overkill than I prefer a dive to be, but whatev. The drinks are cheap and strong, the bartenders are friendly and there's free popcorn. All good features in my book. I've only been twice and can't get a solid read on the crowd. The first time was on a weekend and the place was PACKED with younger 'bro'-type guys and their girlfriends. It wasn't really our scene (plus we didn't want to get stabbed by a dart, because some bro thought it'd be a grand idea to play darts in an extremely crowded bar) so we didn't stay long. We just went back on a weekday night; inside was sparesly populated with older regulars and the vibe was much more casual. Huh. Guess if we go back to Long Shot, it'll be on a weeknight! read more

Holy Crap, I got blasted off my ass with one drink here. The bartenders are young and so is the crowd. The drinks are extremely stiff. The heaviest I've had. It is a tiny square bar with, thank God, only one fucking dart board. Karaoke on Friday nights as well. This is a great place to get tore up simply by the fact that if you go to bed at 2 with a 10, you might wake up to a 4 or higher rather than lower. Not a lot of cotton top blue hairs in this place. The lighting is good for a bar also. Beer goggle vision kicks in and you really need all the help you can get. Low dim lighting is not the answer. It is not extremely bright, but you can tell what your in for within 10 years here. read more

What a great place! Matt is the best bartender in Sacramento. I've only been a handful of times but each time was better than the last. We'll be back! The happy hour can't be beat! read more

This is a good place to get drunk. The drinks are very deep, very cheap, the bartenders are very nice, and its filled with a lot of younger locals. The bathrooms are always very clean, even when the bar is filled with drunks. They do not serve food. They are cash only, and have an ATM with a surcharge. Darts, Jukebox, Karoke, and televisions. The only thing I don't enjoy is how sleezy the bar can get late in the evening; and how accident prone the bar can be, but that comes with the large crowds at any bar any night. I actually love this place when it's quiet. If you're looking for a grade/middle/high school reunion, this is actually the place to start. I'm sure I'll always frequent the long shot. read more

Located on Arden & Eastern. I know some regulars. It's a small bar with a mixed crowd.. but I assume it's a mixed crowd of the locale, the young and older of Arden-Arcade. There's a familiarity amongst regulars like everyone knows Sir Richard in the tiger shirt that always sings Secret Agent Man on karaoke nights or Brian the guy that runs karaoke nights there.. It's just a regular bar. Not slummin' it or trying too hard. read more

This is a great bar unless Kris is working...the bartender... If you want to watch sports, I hope you like what he does because he only puts on what he likes. Not the patrons... And he is a shitty bartender. read more

Gotta agree with Nicole, it is an El Camino & Rio Americano high school reunion every time you go here... but for some reason, I don't find that to be so much of a sh*t show! Granted the people I run into there are the kind of people that I don't keep in touch with, out of general lack of interest, from high school... but it satiates my need to know what they've been up to for the next 5 years, and accepting an obligatory Facebook invitation to someone I don't give a rat's a$$ about.... haha, just kidding (well, kind of.) They do have the stiff drinks going for them, if you wanna get plastered for cheap, go there. Some of the regulars (from HS) even have made up drinks there that only these bartenders make... ex: The Bakersfield. I believe it is peach schnapps and redbull and you drop a shot of vodka in like a bomb-style drink. (I was already a little schwasted when it was ordered for me, so serves me right that I cant remember what was in it.) Either way, it's always a good place to stop by if you have a DD and dont have much cash, and are looking to get a little more than tipsy. But other than the stiff drinks, it doesn't have much going for it. Seedy and divey as hell. read more

Not sure I'd call this a dive bar. Maybe a dive bar wanna be. Kinda small, but there is a good crowd. Good juke box. The staff are very friendly and the crowd is fun. read more

This place lives up to it's name, they serve some seriously stiff drinks. The crowd has varied widely in my trips there; once it was packed with frat boy types, sometimes you just get the regulars and a few times shady characters seemed to take over. Each time was fun, though I was a little worried once when a tweaker thought I offended him. I was able to change the subject and he scampered off but lesson learned... don't strike up a conversation with shady looking tweakers at long shots. read more

This is to me the best dive bar to go to if you want to hangout with your friends, get shytfaced with their strong yet really cheap priced drinks, play some music from the jukebox, or sing some karaoke. I was recently there on friday for my b-day with a couple of my friends & it got crazy in there. It was so worth it!! Been there a few times before. I always refer my friends to go there if they want more for what they normally pay for on drinks. I dont care if they dont serve food. iTs all good for me! The Long Shot will mos. def. have a reg. customer from me! LOL! read more

Average neighborhood hole in the wall but manned by some very nice and welcoming bartenders. The people that visit are also very nice. Unfortunately I've been banned from entering here. read more

So, I'm super big on dive bars and am constantly judging whenever I walk in. The Long Shot is one of my new favorite Sacramento dives. i was looking for something that reminded me of all the bars that I miss so much out in SF, Napa, etc...I found what I was looking for at the long shot. Darts, REALLY cheap, strong drinks, personable bartenders, jukebox, and nice patrons (aside from the occasional douchebag on the weekend). It's an all around fun atmosphere that reminds me of the place that I call home. read more

This is the best and only Dive Bar I have been in, in the Carmichael area. It has everything you'd want. A Juke Box, Karaokee night (Fridays), an older crowd, a younger crowd, and cheap drinks. This is definitely the place to go if you are in the Arden-Carmichael area. read more

Wow. This place is a hidden gem! Drinks are cheap and yummy! I went on a Friday night and it was so much fun with the Karaoke music and such nice people. If you like dark and dingy dive bars, this may be your place. Beer selection is not great but there's a feeling here that the regulars like. Personally, I go to the Kilt Pub next door for good beer, pretty good food and a lighter atmosphere read more

I'm gonna rate individual aspects of this place separately here... price ***** clientele * (major dirtbags in here) Staff **** (Very nice) Drinks ***** (AMAZING, if you love to black out) And I would have to agree this is the most fun I have ever had behind a gas station. read more

Been stopping by the place for years so here goes on the review. First if you are looking for a high-end or upscale bar don't waste your time, because it is a small dive bar about 20'x40' in size and you won't get "table service" here. This rating is based on that. They have a jukebox, 4 flat screen TV's that are tuned in to sports or news, electronic dartboard and GoldenTee golf game with dart league going on some nights. They don't accept credit cards, but they do have an ATM machine or there is a BoA and Wells Fargo (in BelAir) across the street. They don't have food, but Wenelli's Pizza is a few doors down and they will deliver if they are not busy or it is a 30 second walk to pick up the food. I do suggest you order some because they do pour a good drink for your money and after a few you will start to feel it. The drinks reasonably priced at about $3 for well and $4-5+ for call shots. They also have Bud, Bud Light and Sierra Nevada on tap available in pitchers with chilled beer mugs and good selection of bottled beer. Happy hour is 4-6pm with discounts and well drinks and draft beer. During the weekday they have a mixed of crowd people who play dice a lot at the bar, so if you are looking for a game of Liars or 1-4-24 you will find it here. The bartender is Tue-Fri Lisa who is fun and easy going and will roll you for a drink. In the 5-8pm range you will get a lot of the after work crowd stopping by drink and it starts to get crowded. Suzie is the bartender most weeknights and is a fun easy going person who does a good job a keeping the crowd under control. The have a DJ on weekends and after 8pm a lot younger crowd starts to show up and as some others have mention there have been some fighting issues. They have now installed a lot of security camera's both outside and in, which has cause the problems to go down. Bottom line, for a low-end/dive bar they get 5 stars by me because of the atmosphere, value and most importantly the bartenders, though your mileage may very. read more

This place is a black eye on the Arden Park/Arden Oaks area. This isn't "Cheers" type dive bar...with a cool mix of ambiance, patrons and customer focused service. The Long Shot is none of those things. It shouldn't even be considered a dive bar (in the cool sense) but a skeezy bar with literally no redeeming qualities. A number of classy establishments such as Cheffrey's restaurant have tried to make a go of it as next door neighbors of the Long Shot and each have left. They have all left (including recently closed Cheffrey's) in part because of the fights, grafitti, vandalism, loud Harley's/cars and idiotic people over indulging on cheap booze....puking on the door steps of Cheffrey's and other nearby businesses. The Long Shot is not a local area business that should be supported. Bottom line - the County should revoke their liquor license and they should be shut down for good. read more

Since everyone turned 21, the only reason anyone I know frequents this place is because we can walk there so it's good for a few quick drinks. When one of my friends told me that someone took her there for her 21st birthday I cringed my nose and asked why. I know all about creepers in bars but this place seems to have some winners. I noticed people calling this a dive. Ok, not gonna debate it, but lets just say its the nicest, brightest, least-divey dive bar ever. Its clean and well stocked bar matched with a polite a speedy bartender. It has a new touch screen juke box/ computer thing. Digital dart boards that do the math for you, and a squeaky clean and odor free bathroom. This place is a super cool lounge spot. Oh did I mention 3$ sierra nevada beers all the time?
