My favorite Sacramento bar. It's a perfect place to observe the ginger in his natural environment. Spectators are welcome and the drinks are good! You are welcome! Please share this review!

Let me preface this by saying I love a dive bar. Not in an ironic hipster way... in a "I don't care about being seen, I don't want to surrounded by stiletto skanks or popped-collar frat boys or the jersey club crowd- I just want a good, stiff drink in a low-key environment" way. But I draw the line at the Office, you do NOT want to dive into this dive bar. A short while ago, we lived in the apartment complex next door to the Office. I remember when it was a previous incarnation (Stoly's, I think? Picture of a Husky dog on the sign?) and we tried it once when we first moved there. It was a dive back then... not horrible, just not our flavor so we didn't go back. When it became the Office, it. got. BAD. We had a 2nd floor apartment and could clearly see the bar from our balconey... yeah... BAD. Scuzzy looking crowd, fights breaking out, cars and motorcycles screeching in & out at all hours, police helicopter circling the bar/parking lot almost every weekend night.... BAD. Again, I love dive bars. But I will not get shanked in the quest for a cheap drink.

3$ pbr 24oz tall cans, what a deal. Unfortunately that would be the only thing making me come back. Place was kinda empty expect for a few loud baseball fans. Bathroom seem neglected. Maybe it was just me but I felt that if somebody got murdered here it might take the cops a couple of days to find the body because this bar is located in small back area of a small plaza area. Overall nothing special, no frills bar with some nice beer prices.

Their tap beer lines are contaminated. Draft beer here is undrinkable. Stick to bottled beer or spirits, or just go elsewhere.

But every so often me and the old crew make it a point to come here on Friday nights when Travis (also the owner) is bartending.

Security checked our IDs at the door, and once we walked in, the bar area was packed. Luckily, there were reserved booths nobody was using and my girl, and I sat there since the main bar was crowded. It actually worked out perfect for us. It gave us space to sit, relax, and have a good conversation without feeling cramped. We ordered a couple of colorful drinks that were nicely balanced and flavorful, not too overpowering, and easy to enjoy. The music was hip-hop which is right up my alley, so the vibe was definitely on point. What really stood out was the atmosphere. I've never been in a bar quite like this where jellyfish were hanging from the ceiling, and a whole underwater theme. I was told a mermaid appears over the bar at certain times, but sadly, I didn't get to see her this visit. Overall, it was a great spot to end the night after the movie. Good drinks, good music, and a unique sea-themed vibe. If I return, I will hope to see a mermaid

The bar tenders have horrible customer service even when the bar isn't busy. It seems like they rather hang out and chat with regulars and friends than serve paying customers. The security guards we're blatantly discriminating against my friend for no good reason. Also, security apparently accepts bribes at the front door to let people in, so much for safety. The drinks were in my opinion overpriced and didn't taste good. Maybe I'm biased because my whole experience here put a complete sour taste in my mouth. Then, to top it all off my friends and I were being harassed by two patrons who had clearly been overserved the entire time we were there. We had no choice but to leave and we will never be back again! After visiting I wanted to leave a review because I felt other people should steer clear. To my surprise, I read reviews here that mentioned almost the exact experience we had. So, this is not an isolated incident and Dive Bar has not taken our comments into consideration. Disclaimer: I did not have this experience, but it was very disheartening to see all the reviews, tik toks, reels, etc. I found after visiting Dive Bar in which women and men are claiming to have been roofied. This may or may not be true, but it can't be a coincidence this many people have had the same experience. There needs to be an investigation into this bar. I myself will be placing a call to the BBB and I hope that anyone who has had that experience feels empowered to speak to the authorities.

After enjoying glasses of chardonnay at nearby Luna Lounge (please reference my review if…read moreinterested), my wife and I headed to The Blind Pig to enjoy a few cocktails. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly bartender by the name of Ronny. Our first round consisted of two dirty martinis (my new drink of choice), which Ronny put his fist (that's a good thing) into making. One of the things that I love about dive bars is the various demographics that usually frequent them (along with their interesting conversations). For our second round we ordered a "Manmosa (yes I know that sounds ridiculously machismo in 2024)" that Ronny insisted on putting a fruity spin on. Not only were we thankful for his suggestion, but his version was GOOD! In real dive bar-like fashion, Ronny provided us both with an extra cup to house the remainder of the Manmosa that could not fit into our glasses (another dive bar perk). As we sat at the bar, my wife and chatted while lightly watching the movie Step Brothers on one of the televisions. Although it was a fairly slow Saturday afternoon, I can imagine that this place gets pretty lively in the latter part of the night though. We observed lots of seating, games, and an area for karaoke (toasted karaoke is the best!). I highly recommend The Blind Pig if you're looking to have deliciously strong drinks at a price that won't have you waking up the next morning rethinking the decisions that you made the previous night!

You think you know what you're getting into. But then, there are the "Mother Lode" experiences...The kind that hit you sideways and make you question why you ever bothered with fancy hotel bars in the first place. My friends and I were in town for a conference, and we decided to hit The Mother Lode for one final "quick beer" before retreating to our hotel. Spoiler alert: "One quick beer" is a lie we all tell ourselves. This place successfully begged me to stay way longer than I anticipated, and it ended up being the absolute highlight of the trip. The secret sauce here is the owner, Lorna. She is a total gem. She was warm, friendly, and she treated our group like we were the only people in the building. She actually took the time to school us on the history of the space. Turns out, she's been running the it since 1981, and that the place was a old-school general store outpost back in the day. We walked in not knowing what to expect, but we were greeted with actual smiles by a crowd of about a dozen locals who were busy dominating the pool table and crushing some karaoke. Instead of the usual "you're not from around here" glare, they treated us like regulars from the moment we stepped in. If you're looking for a spot with genuine soul and an environment that refuses to let you leave, thank the dive bar gods for The Mother Lode. It's easily one of the best experiences I've had in a long time.

This place seems like it's more for the people who live in the neighborhood and all know each other other. When we pulled up we could hear lots of yelling before we even got out of the car LOL. We walked in and it was like 10 people there excited about the football game they were watching. Although everyone was super nice, I felt like an outsider. Again, not a bad thing, it just seemed like they all knew each other and I was a stranger in their environment. It kinda gave me Cheers vibes LOL Maybe one day I'll return and actually spend time in there but I just didn't feel like we fit that night, plus, it wasn't quite what we were looking for, so we left. I recommend this place to those who like small, intimate spaces who are not shy and open to making new friends. This seems like a really cool place for close friends to hang out. *I gave 3 stars based on it not meeting what I searched
