I've stopped by this place a couple times for some late afternoon drinks, and it's a nice spot. It's located in the same building as Ginger Elizabeth, so parking isn't great, but you can find parking within a block or so of walking. There's metered parking in the street just in front. They have a nice selection of wines and cocktails. Not the most expansive list, but a nicely curated one. Most recently, I tried the Pimms Rangoon (Gin, Ro Pimm's, fresh lemon, ginger, pineapple, fizzy water) and a wine that I can't recall. The cheeze whiz (house made whipped manchego and parm on crostini) is a must-have. The bread is wonderful as well as the cheese and olive. I'm usually not crazy about green olives, but it worked so well with the cheese. I've had tinned sardines in the past, and they were fine... along the lines of a tin of Fishwife. Next time, I'll probably try another bread & cheese dish. I like the kitschy vibe. And, our servers were nice both times I've gone. If I lived a little closer, I'd probably drop by more often, but I'll keep this place in mind when I want a drink and a small snack to go with it (and dessert at Ginger Elizabeth is next door!). read more

Long overdue review that has been in the drafts our server was Sariyah and the service was terrible. Came here for our monthly meet up with the girls and not gonna lie this was a disappointment. I have wanted to try this place for so long and it was mid at best. They didn't have a kitchen when I went so their food offerings were extremely limited which I didn't know before coming. The ambiance was great. While the space was small it packed a great punch. I will say our server disappeared and she was very short when she was unavailable. I came, I saw, it's unlikely I'll return given the many options in Sacramento and the surrounding areas. Go for the experience if you choose On the plus side we ended up at the dive bar Golden Bear after for pizza nachos and beer and I have found my new favorite dive bar so I'll call that a win! read more

This place is great! I dropped by yesterday after a nail appointment around the corner and sat at the bar. I've been here many times, and will be many more, and so I owe them a positive review! Service is always great and yesterday was a demonstration of that. One of my items was rung in wrong and not only did they promptly fix it, they sincerely apologized for it, and gave me another pour to make up for it! I am LOVING the new menu-- which now includes sake! The staples remain too, including my personal favorite: Cheez Whiz. The snacks are just so unique, delish, and totally affordable. My friend and I checked out Ro Sham Beaux for the first time last night and it was so cute inside! Located on J Street next to Ginger Elizabeth's and across the street from Chicago Fire. It is small inside, but there are a few tables and bar seating as well. We wanted to try a little bit of everything so we ordered the Raclette over potatoes, Red Lentil Dahl Soup, Arugula Salad and Cheese Wiz. Everything was pretty tasty - I really liked the Cheese Wiz as well as the Red Lentil Dahl Soup - it was savory and spicy. It was our first time trying Raclette and I can't say I was super impressed, but I loved watching them scrap off the cheese and seeing it melt all over the potatoes. I will say that it needs to be eaten pretty quickly otherwise it just coagulates on top of the potatoes. They also offer sandwiches, salads, hummus, different chips, and even tin fish options. Service was friendly, but sort of nonexistent once we got our food until it was time to pay. Place is a GEM in Sacramento, both intimate and moody and casual at the same time. Limited seating inside with no reservations (7 tables inside that fit 2 well + 8-10 bar seating), but also have more seating in the outside patio. They have a full bar, but their menu looks more focused on lighter drinks, vermouth, wines, apertifs. We didn't have to wait long on a Friday night, and they apparently do have DJs some nights but not the night we came! We got the white vermouth (recipe in-house), red vermouth, one of their red wines, and a custom drink. All fabulous! Service was great, and we WILL be coming back! I've been here a couple of times and love this place. I came here in the afternoon and there were plenty of seats. Of course I sat at the bar to gain the full experience. I'm still new to wine and the bartenders recommended amazing white and red wines, and educated me about their concept on natural wines. I also ordered the bread and butter which tasted amazing! They have some of the best sourdough breads I have tried. Would highly recommend. Overall great service, food, and drinks. I don't drink alcohol so I can't comment on their alcohol selection but their non alcoholic options are great. They even have a service window for Wild Heart Beauty. It's been almost a year since we went to Ro Sham Beaux and we were eager to go back on a date night. We arrived around 5:50 and were able to snag two bar stools. It was pretty busy, but for groups of 2 there was some place to squeeze, but by 6:30 it was full besides the outdoor seating. We ordered the cheez whiz and were able to get it off the happy hour menu. I started with a sparkling while they chilled a pet nat that I was eager to try. The cheez whiz is house made whipped manchego and parm on crostini and it's to die for. I probably could have eaten 10 of them...but opted to have 1.5 out of the 3. They're open to doing half a glass of wine as well which is nice because then you can try a bunch of things! This is my FAVORITE wine bar in Sacramento and I come here all the time. It's one of the first places I ever tried orange wine and the staff is so friendly and patient and knowledgeable about their selection. The service is also quick, I generally just get the bites (the green olives are so good + local baked sourdough) but they do have sandwiches and salads. They have a lot of different wine and cocktail options + non alcoholic options too. We got the red wine flight for $22 each, which came with three wines: * vino rosso - from angelo negro, piedmont, 2022. organic and unfiltered, some sour notes but really liked it * la combe du temps - from domaine du temps, languedoc, 2018. made from syrah and grenache * cain cuvée - from cain vineyards, napa valley. blend of 2014 and 2015 vintages. looked it up online and found that the blend includes merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, and petite verdot. really loved this one! it was super delicous, a little bit of a darker flavor. I loved the whole flight but would just get a glass of this if I went back. And for snacks we ordered: * cheese whiz - made of whipped parmesan and manchego on a crostini, topped with an olive. costs $4 during happy hour. pretty yummy, came with three pieces. * bread with butter (pain au levain) - a sizeable portion of bread with some spruced up butter, also very good * salted chips - very self explanatory, they were just potato chips lol Overall the whole experience was great. The ambiance is perfect for a date night because it is dimly lit for romantic lighting. We did the white wine flight, which I found very fruity and florally. The flight consisted of 3 sizable pours for only $22. I enjoyed my wine flight, but my friend did not enjoy hers (she thought the wines were extremely dry). The reason that I took two stars off is because I wish that Ro Sham Beaux offered a white and red flight together instead of making customers choose. The other reason is that our waiter took extremely long to take our order. My friend actaully went inside to get someone to take our order. The wine bar is inside of a building with other businesses so I had to look around before finding the spot (the front door says Wild Hearts Beauty). The inside is clean and modern, there's a lovely display of all their natural wines. They do half and full glasses of wine which is nice. The lady behind the bar helping me was helpful and shared some recommendations. I ended choosing a chilled red Mago that was yummy. This wine bar had been recommended to us by a friend and I've been wanting to check it out for some time, but never had the chance. Well, last night, we finally had the chance! The wine bar interior is quaint, but the vibe is awesome and the place is so full of energy... but, because it's small, there was a wait for a decent spot inside (one with a table, and not an upside down wooden crate on a long sofa - a creative use of space, for sure, but perhaps not best suited for food and drinks if you're planning to do that) so we opted for a table outside of the chocolate shop. By comparison, there is absolutely no vibe or charm outside of the wine bar - lol. It is overflow seating and it just feels super disconnected from the wine bar experience. If you get there early or don't mind waiting, grab a spot inside. There are good BTG options - some solid crowd pleasers (in terms of varietals), but also some unique offerings (varietals and lesser known regions). The bottle list is small, but also had some great options. In terms of price - it's pretty on par with most places. I'm not a huge fan of labeling pours "half" vs "full" because it doesn't explain how much wine you get, but assuming 2.5oz for a half and 5oz for a full, the BTG prices are good - a full glass is close to, if not slightly cheaper than the bottle's wholesale price, which is pretty industry standard. On the bottle list, you'll pay more to drink the wine in-house than to take it home. For drinking in-house, a couple of the bottles I recognized were just around or just shy of 2x whosesale, so really not bad. There are places charging 3x wholesale these days, so overall a good deal. In terms of their retail (to-go) prices - they are higher than you can find on Wine Searcher by anywhere from 25-50%, so definitely not the best place to buy retail unless the specific bottle you want isn't offered anywhere else. So far so good - we ordered a bottle and the server seemed nice enough, but what happened next was honestly just strange and I'm not sure if it is representative of the wine bar. She brought bottle with the cork already half way pulled, then table side, pulled the cork, set the bottle down, then left. We both looked at each other confused - like is she coming back to pour or should we do it ourselves. We waited a few mins and decided to go for it ourselves. For the hour+ we sat and enjoyed a very delicious wine, she came by about half way to top up waters and other than that, she never checked in. In fact, we went up to the bar counter to pay. It was honestly quite an odd experience and despite the great bottle of wine, it kinda soured the whole thing for us. Not sure if we'll be back since there are so many great wine bars in Sac (Betty, Nico, etc). read more
