Immediately, a lady behind the bar asked if I'd like to try her newest creation that she just made, it was very good. She then helped me pick out some cheeses for a cheese plate, great selection. Another attempt at going to The Rind on Valentines Day and again turned away because they love to make rules and switch them when it's most convenient. Called a couple days before to understand the Valentine's Day reservation and prefix menu. We were told that regular menu runs through 3:30 then the kitchen will be closed until 5 for the evening prefix menu. We ordered two glasses of the sparkling Rose, one cheese board, one French Onion grilled cheese with a cup of soup (roasted tomato is the only option), and one Twisted Classic grilled cheese with a cup of soup. Cheese Board (3/5): First time trying a cheese board! Beautiful presentation. Cheeses are already pre-selected so we were glad we didn't have to make another tough decision. We liked the fruit and jam but otherwise, the cheeses were good but nothing particularly unique. For $24, it was a bit expensive. Twisted Classic Grilled Cheese (3.5/5): My friend liked this one over the French Onion but I thought it was a little oily/salty. Would recommend getting the soup with it French Onion Grilled Cheese (4.5/5): I liked this one the best. The mustard and onion provided a different flavor and texture that I appreciated. A little oily but delicious sandwich. Also recommend getting the soup with it Roasted Tomato Soup (3.5/5): Paired well with the grilled cheeses. I thought it was a little light on its own and it could be a little more creamy/flavorful Overall, the food was a little pricey (total was $133 with tip) but it is a unique restaurant and I enjoyed the vibe. This place has a very nice ambiance. A lot of people came for a Friday night date night and the vibes are perfect for a romantic night out. The pesto pasta was AMAZING and so was the pear salad. I loved how the pasta was not heavy in the stomach like most pastas. We actually went out and danced after eating the pasta and had a wonderful night out. She is part of what makes Sacramento a great place to live! We spent a most wonderful afternoon here. I hadn't been in a while and am kicking myself for letting it go so long. Tough to review because this was such a mixed experience. Came in today about 3:00 and the server was the rudest I have ever encountered. Not only was she dry, unfriendly and rude - knocked me in the head as she passed by and did not even stop to acknowledge it. I have been here numerous times and typically rave about the food and experience but today's experience has me so upset I will not be returning. The first visit I came with five family members, and our server was very rude from the start. When I asked for a menu, she gave me a dirty look, and when we mentioned it was our first time and asked for recommendations, her response was simply, "look at the board," in a very dismissive way. I decided to give the restaurant another try today because the food itself is amazing--but unfortunately it was the same server and the same rude attitude. From the moment we walked in, she seemed irritated. My boyfriend had brought in a salad from somewhere else, and instead of addressing the situation politely, she immediately said "Oh no, you can't eat here if you have other food from another spot," in a very rude tone and made us take it to go.
