They have pizza, pasta, sandwiches, calzones, salads, and appetizers. There are two kinds of pizza; Neapolitan thin crust and Roman deep dish. Both are terrific. They offer the deep dish pizza by the slice. The thin crust pizzas have a fermented crust giving it a nice chew and crispness. Flavor elevation. The thin crust pizzas are flame fired. The wood fire pizza oven is a thing of beauty. Gorgeous rounded cooper clad exterior; imported from Italy. It is viewable in the dining room, near the kitchen. Grammy's salad is my favorite salad. Grammy makes one hecka of a salad. The meatball grind-ah is mighty tasty. The bread is pressed giving it nice grill marks and a toasty flavor. The meatballs are juicy and tender; they are layered with marinara. Mmm. Their lunch menu has different menu options from the dinner menu. All right, mixing it up. Lunch is served until 3pm. The happy hour is 2pm-6pm. With the recent remodel, they tore down the wall separating the bar and restaurant dining room creating an open floor plan. So the nights that they have live music. First time here and we were blown away! From the outside it looks really small I could not believe how big the inside was! A full bar, plenty of seating, arcade games, wall art, a whole stage for live music. Jessie helped us today and she was the absolute BEST! So kind so attentive. The food was astonishing!!! I wanted to like this place because it was recommended by local friends. But it was a total disappointment. Let's start with the positive. The meatball appetizer was good and it came with a flavorful house made marinara sauce. The Italian Blue salad, which we shared, was a little too sweet for my taste, but the other people at the table liked it. The service was friendly but not attentive at all. It was a Saturday night so they were pretty busy. We had to chase down the waitstaff multiple times to get what we needed. Cocktails were OK but the "Bloody Mobsta" was a total ripoff. $17 gets you a decent Bloody Mary with house made BM mix and a skewer with a few pieces of salumi and an olive and some peppers. The entrees were a total disappointment. The pasta was overcooked. My friends said their dishes were just OK but definitely not worth the price. My Chicken Piccata was awful! No browning or flavor on the chicken. The sauce was a gloppy, greasy, flavorless mess that tasted mainly of raw flour. I asked for a whole lemon to squeeze on top to add enough flavor to make it barely edible and I still couldn't finish it. The menu advertised spinach, which I thought might be a novel and flavorful addition to the classic recipe, but there were just a few leaves of spinach. The live music was WAY TOO LOUD! We had to shout at each other just to be heard. And it seemed to be getting louder with every song. We might have tried the desserts, but couldn't wait to get out of there because of the music. After giving this local place many tries because I would rather support local than a corporate place, I can't stand behind supporting them as a business any longer. I have been eating here since before they moved locations, before and after ownership changes, menu changes and everything in between. The food used to be well prepared and tasty in addition to the service being good as well. The last few time we have gone it has been a downhill slope with no brakes in sight. Service has been atrocious, having to even ask for water to be offered after not even being acknowledged at the table for close to 10 mins. There was no rush, maybe about 3 other tables besides us, our server didn't know the menu and couldn't answer basic questions. It honestly felt like they had the greeter/food runner/cashier filling in for an actual waiter. There was barely any attention given to our table and the main focuses seemed to be on the bar and bar clientele. Food was pretty bland and more than half of our dishes weren't even hot when they arrived to the table. Not wanting to wait any longer we ate what was served because we were hungry. Serving roasted/braised pork and calling it porchetta does not make it porchetta. Calzone that half burnt, pasta barely at room temp when served. Do cooks/chefs no longer take pride in their craft here? Spending almost $200 to eat here felt like a huge rip off with the poor service and lack of flavor provided in the dishes. We were so happy to hear The Italian Place reopened! Met some friends for dinner at 5:30 on Wednesday 1/14/2026. The food was excellent as always! However...they have opened the shared wall of the restaurant to the bar next door. This made our dining experience awful!!! It was Karaoke night which started around 6-6:30. It was so loud you couldn't visit or enjoy your night out! I'm sorry to say this...it was a bad decision to open that wall up!!! I can't even imagine what it would be like when they have live music. My wife and I went to The Place for dinner Saturday night. We had reservations and were seated upon arrival. Our server was April and she is very attentive and friendly. She gladly took pictures of us! April brought out some focaccia bread and olive oil/balsamic to dip in. We ordered Chicken PIcatta and Chicken Marsala. The chicken in both entrees was moist and tender. Both dishes were excellent with nice flavors and freshness. We also shared a Caesar salad and the dressing was very tasteful. QR codes on the table, no one even acknowledged us when we came in... or the entire time until they delivered our food at the table, even then it wasn't friendly service. There was a table in the middle of the room with paper plates and utensils and serve yourself water. I'm not sure why they were asking for a tip, and you have to pay when you order before even receiving your food. Food was very mediocre. My family was famished while traveling through and had a great meal here. Service: very friendly and attentive Ambiance: from the outside, looks like a converted gas station, which definitely gave us pause, but inside was very clean, and while by no means luxurious, it was very comfortable. Between us, we shared two different pasta dishes, salad, and pizza. All were very good. Two of us avoid gluten, and we ordered a gluten-free Mac and cheese and split a cauliflower crust pizza. The gluten-free Mac was as good as such a dish could be and the cauli pizza was very good. They use a Cisco product, but they cooked it so that it came out with a nice combination of crunchy and chewy. In every dish, the ingredients were excellent? And the salads were top-notch. Free bread and a balsamic/olive oil dip was also a nice touch. They use sausage that is made locally, and while everyone has different preferences, we liked it. The mozzarella in all of the dishes seemed to have a bit of a smoky/umami thing going on that I really liked. We had a great time, and were very surprised. We did learn that this location is no longer owned by the same folks who own the place of the same name in Roseville. For the price point, this place is great. We used to like this spot back in the early days, then owners changed and we didn't like it, then the old owners came back but the restaurant is not the same. Tonight service was friendly but slow. Live mediocre music in the bar was too loud, and the fact that the big screen tv is now visible in most of the restaurant is not stylish because they took the wall down. The old wine list had lots of local options, now there are only half a dozen choices none local. They also don't allow you to bring your own wine. There is no more complimentary bread, menus are now laminated plastic, plastic table cloths that were not wiped or clean. Plastic straws come in every drink, bad bad. Silverware is in a tomato can in the table, cute idea but please dont put forks and spoons eating end up where everyone who has to get their utensils touches them, ick. Where is the salt and pepper, not on the table? Staff person had to go find some salt??? Porchetta and polenta was delish, caesar salad was good, chicken Marsala meh. Very bizarre experience, three of us came into the restaurant and we're told to take a table. We took a table and we sat there for about 10 minutes before we realized there is no service for tables any longer than when we figured that out we went up to the register and ordered a pizza and 2-dinners 2 non alcoholic drinks almost $100. We had to get up to get our own plates, our own silverware and our own water the drinks we ordered never came until we questioned where they were only to learn that you have to go to the bar to get your own drink. It was a Wednesday night and they had loud obnoxious karaoke. While that's normally not a bother it was extra loud. This beautiful establishment is a little off the main road but absolutely worth the stop. The staff is so kind and sweet, even the chef came out and we were able to compliment her work. Beyond the stale environment it's now a food ticket system. So yes you run with the buzzer like a fast food joint and pick up your food. Ok fine, however the prices are far from fast food. We were staying in the Placerville area to visit Apple Hill orchards, and saw that this place wasn't too far from the inn we were staying at. We went a little before 5 on a Saturday night. so we were able to find parking and get seated right away. Parking is very limited fyi. We weren't too hungry so we didn't order an appetizer. I ordered the Pesto Penne with Shrimp and the hubby the Chicken Alfredo. Our main dishes came with focaccia slices which were served with the usual mixture of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We both enjoyed our pasta dishes. I wish it had come with more protein though. We both ordered wine with dinner, which were good for the price point. We did not have dessert since we shared apple cider doughnuts and an apple pie earlier in the day. We took most of our dinner home too. Service was great. Went to Apple Hill and returned to this restaurant hoping it was as good as we remembered and it was even better! On Friday and Saturday they have their 10 layer lasagna and it's incredible! Sat outside on the patio tonight. They were very busy but we enjoyed the Wednesday special. The patio area is nice with a variety of seating options and shade for sunny days. The food was good and the focaccia bread was great as always! The one thing I dislike is that when we got the bill they added (not optional) a tip of 5% for "back of house." I certainly don't mind tipping for great service. And I believe it's customary for servers to share tips with BOH, but to add it to the bill as mandatory, kinda jerks my chain a little. Especially when the prices are on the higher side for the area. The bill was already $97 before the tip (reminder that we ordered the special!). For me, tipping is based on service provided. If they aren't paying BOH staff enough, then adjust the pricing and hide this fee. (Just my opinion!). But don't let this stop you from enjoying the patio or the food. I got takeout from "The place" in Placerville this evening. Having recently moved out here, I wanted to check out some of the nearby restaurants and pizza sounded good tonight. I ordered the "hot bath" appetizer which is essentially a garlic confit with flatbread for dipping. I also got 2 pizzas, a margarita and pepperoni. I am not exaggerating when I say this, both the pizzas and the appetizer were too salty to be considered edible. It's like every single ingredient has been marinated in salt. After a few bites it just became too much. The worst part was, I paid about $76 Incl tax and tip and all of this food just went to waste. I would consider trying "the place" again, maybe it's better if you dine in. But as of right now in my opinion the food is pretty overpriced and ridiculously salty. read more

First time dining in since the new ownership and the food quality has u fortunately gone downhill. I always get the smokey mushroom pizza and it would be covered in mushrooms and a delicious variety of cheese but this time it had almost no mushrooms and tasted like a cheese pizza with a handful of mushrooms thrown on top (as you can see in the picture compared to the picture from a year ago). Not to mention the special lasagna served only on Fridays, use to be thin layers of pasta and the perfect amount of cheese and sauce. It is now smothered in cheese and red sauce and thick layers of pasta. Also, the garlic cheese bread use to come with large cloves of garlic on it and it is now just cheesey bread with no garlic to be found.
