Casa Los Abuelos Mexican restaurant in Placerville, CA, right off Interstate 50 Missouri Flat Road exit. I had Mother's Day lunch at Casa Los Abuelos. We made a reservation for our party of 10. Glad we did because this was a poplar place and filled up quickly for lunch. I've never dined here before, not because of any particular reason. But glad I gotta finally. Good food, outstanding customer service, and relaxing welcoming vibes. Service was awesome. Our waiter was on it! He had an engaging personality and did a superb job. Got drinks out, food came out hot n quick and all about the same time, refills attended to without asking, and they even allowed us to split checks (we asked for 3). Awesome! We received complimentary chips and salsa. No complaints there. The salsa was flavorful with a nice thickness. It took me forever to choose... the options were plentiful. I ended up ordering the lamb shank. $23.The shank itself is a distinctive flavor cut of meat. If it's cooked right, it should be moist, fork tender and infused with the slices used. Well ... they did it right! Spiced and marinated giving it flavor to pair with the shank's natural distinct flavor. Mmm. The plate came with Mexican rice and refried beans with flour or corn tortillas. The rice was fluffy. The refried beans were tasty. Prepared well, no aftermath toots. The restaurant is not new but well kept and maintained. Relaxing, family friendly vibes. The interior decor was festive. Beautiful carved wooden booths. They have a separate bar area offset in its own room. The women's restrooms had beautiful colorful tiled bathroom sinks. Fun pop of color. read more

We arrived at 12:45 hoping for some outdoor seating for the dog. Unfortunately there was no outdoor seating, but no big deal we were staying at the hotel right across the street. The host was very kind and offered to ask the manager if we could sit inside with the dog but the answer was an expected sorry, no. So far great service. When we came back we were seated right away at a comfortable booth. We ordered 3 street tacos. Two Al pastor and one carne asada. They brought out chips and salsa right away with waters. I ordered a top shelf margarita to share with my boyfriend. Good thing we shared because it was huge! It said it had a floater shot, but I couldn't see that and it didn't come on the side like it usually does. Makes me question if it was even in there? The tacos took about 30 minutes to come out which was a very long time for 3 tacos. BUT they were very good quality tacos. Seemed like the corn tortillas could've been made in house. The quality of the al pastor and the carne seemed very good. I really enjoyed the tacos. I'd say the wait will be longer because the quality is fresh. I would definitely come back again! read more

This place was a mess from start to finish. Service was painfully slow, disorganized, and straight-up inaccurate. I ordered a super burrito with al pastor. What I got? Carne asada. When I pointed it out, the waiter argued with me about what meat it was (wild) and then still charged me extra for the al pastor anyway. The upcharge was never removed. So I paid more for food I didn't order, got attitude for calling it out, and zero accountability. To top it off, the food made me physically sick afterward. That's the dealbreaker. Bad service, wrong order, pointless arguing, and food that left me regretting the whole experience. Not worth the money, not worth the time. Hard pass. read more

I have been coming here for little bit now and I've always love the atmosphere of the place. Parking is little bit wonky. The couple times I have went in there is usually no wait time the workers are really nice there everyone I have encounter. Downfall is sometimes when you order a drink takes little longer than it should sometimes you have to remind them. I do love the margarita it tastes like a margarita. I love mine on ice and with a salt rim they also have other flavors too and can do it blended. They have a small size and a large size option. The food is really good it's always hot and fresh. I always have extra to take home and eat it the next day. If you live Mexican food and good drinks I recommended this place. read more

I went there last Saturday for the first time and was very disappointed. First of all, I ordered the carnitas plate and after 15 minutes of waiting, they came by and told me that they were out of Carnitas. How could that be on a Saturday afternoon? I then asked if they can substitute the lamb shank dish for the same price, which was three dollars more and they said no. I then ordered the enchilada combination with steak and when I got the bill, I noticed that they charged me $2.95 per enchilada because it was steak. When I questioned it, the waiter just pointed to the menu and said "it's on the menu you should've read it." . well if I would've got the Carnitas, I wouldn't have had to pay extra for a different kind of meat. Also, the house margarita was so sweet, I've never had a margarita that tasted so sweet. Not sure if I'm willing to give them another chance. read more

Casa Los Abuelos is hands down thee best Mexican food to get in El Dorado County, the service is spectacular, especially servers Eric, David, and John, and the bartender Angel, makes the most delicious that make you feel good that won't taste like straight liquor, the best of both worlds. I give this place 5 stars, I've never had a bad experience and I've been going since I was a little girl. Also it is perfectly lit inside, not too dim or too bright. My go to dishes are Tacos Al Carbon, Pollo en Crema, the Asada Plate or the Albóndigas if it's cold out. My go to drinks are the top shelf margarita on the rocks or the Cadillac, as well as any creations Angel suggests if you sit at the bar. read more

So after picking up the food within 3 minutes it was not an edible piece! I also got a carne asada quesadilla. Meet inside the quesadilla was 5 dime size pieces. First I thought they got my order wrong and gave me a plain cheese quesadilla until I got to my 3rd bite. Then I saw those little dime size 5 pieces of meet. Really? Waste of money! Very expensive burrito with al pastor (extra cost) and both burritos had so little meat. My daughter said "this burrito did not have any meat." I did not fully understand what she was talking about until I ate about 3/4 of a left over burrito and some of my son's burrito. Essentially no meat. Sorry. This place used to be the best in town. Not this time. I went in today 06/29 at 5:00. I ordered 5 items. It took 20 minutes to get the items I ordered. It took me 10 minutes to get home. Almost everything was barely warm. The chili relleno was cool to the touch. The chicken mole had chicken that was dry ( like it had been sitting out for a while). Of course the salsa was nothing but tomatoes and some onions but that's usually expected because they have to appease everyone's pallet so we got the hot salsa which was about 3 1/2 out of five. The margaritas were good. We got the fresh squeezed juice margaritas I would give it a four out of five I got the steak plate. The steak was not seasoned at all. It just taste like they just took the steak and threw it on the grill. They even put salt and pepper on it again the beans were not good. The rice was not good. My husband got the chicken Street tacos. They had absolutely no flavor so that they use no seasoning in any of their food but again I think that they have done their food down to a piece to what I would say the Caucasian pallet I was very disappointed $100 later. read more
