I was incredibly hungry after adventuring in the mountains and needed food to-go but really didn't want fast food. I would be hitting Placerville around 7:30pm on a weekday and options were limited. This place had decent Yelp reviews, so I gave it a try... and it was a fantastic end to a really terrific day. Things to note: -This is probably the only restaurant I've been to post-covid that didn't ask me for a tip when I put my credit card in. I didn't have much cash with me, but dropped a few bills in the tip jar. Next time I come back, I will be sure to leave more! -It was at the end of the day, but service was prompt. -This is also one of the few taqerias I've been too lately lately that still has a free chip and salsa bar. I was really hungry and appreciated freshly made chips! -The first bite ofmy chili relleno burrito pure joy! It was loaded with guacamole with just the right amount of jalapeño and cilantro. There was zero skimping in this thing! I kept expecting to get to a place in the burrito where there would be no guacamole, and that never happened. I should've only eaten half the burrito, but I devoured the entire thing. This is definitely a place I will return to next time I'm passing through Placerville! read more

I regularly eat at this place. It's always delicious and one of the best Mexican restaurants around here. Service is great and the owner is super nice and accommodating. I've been wanting to try Tijuana Taqueria for a while. It's a bit out of the way at the east end of Placerville on Broadway. I ordered a 2 item combo dinner to go. I ordered a hard shell crispy beef taco and a chicken enchilada. It came with rice and beans. When I got the order home, I discovered a soft taco and not a hard shell crispy taco I had ordered. Bummer. Everything else was accurate. The soft beef taco was good and tasted fresh but it's not what I wanted. The chicken enchilada was spot on. The mild salsa on the side was watery and also spicier and hotter than "mild". The Mexican rice was excellent and so were the beans. read more

This place has excellent food, a salsa bar with chips. The chips were a bit on the over cooked side but that was the only negative. I would most definitely still come back anytime I'm traveling through this area. I ordered the fried crispy tacos both chicken and carnitas and both were amazing. The beans and rice was very authentic with good flavor as well. The staff were friendly and the seating was table seating. Tijuana Taqueria is a hidden gem that has some of the best Mexican food in the Placerville area. It's off the beaten path, but easy to get to right off the freeway. We stopped here after our visit to Apple Hill. Their sign on the wall says "You deserve healthy good food!" The dining room is bigger than a fast food place and seats 22 people. We arrived at 2:15 and there were still about 15 people eating. There is another dining room that also seats 22 people. Delicious food. Super clean, super friendly folks. Food everywhere is outrageously expensive, and this place is on par with local prices. I had the Tijuana Bowl which was $13. The hub had a chili rellano with rice and beans and it was also $13. This is easily accessible from highway 50 on the way to Tahoe. The enchiladas were my favorite! We tried the green tamale that was delicious and made in the morning. I personally enjoyed the homemade horchata too. Service was attentive and fast! The inside was clean. read more

Closest thing you get to authentic food in Placerville! The people there have to make this place a million times better they are all so so nice and accommodating and make you feel right at home. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito enchilada style (red, wet) and got tomato sauce on the burrito. Terrible! The guy said that's how they make it where they're from in Mexico. He said he has 5? kids to support. I've been there before and not gotten sauce like that. Won't go back and won't support inauthentic Mexican food at this place. read more
