This restaurant it's a gem in pollock pines! Very authentic!! The food is amazing, we order the tacos which are 100! The chicken omg!!!! So good !! And the SOPES!! They are not in the menu but I ordered and they are soooooo good! You should try them and they should add it in to the menu, beans and rice for the little one where a hit!!! Ate all of them! I found myself in Pollock Pines, CA. It's a small rural town. There aren't a lot of places to eat. Pacos Taqueria is a small eatery minority owned which is not common in these parts. I've eaten here twice in the last 4 months. They serve up tasty, traditional Mexican food. The staff are welcoming. Not afraid to crack a smile. The food is traditional, classic, simple Mexican food. I like the refried beans. They are smooth and flavorful without causing gas. Yup I said it. Some places I avoid the beans because of the potential after effects. The chicken enchiladas and ground beef crispy tacos are my faves. The shredded chicken was moist and flavorful, the enchilada sauce was tasty. I could drink that stuff. Speaking about drinking; they have bottled Mexican Coca Colas and Jarritos along with fountain sodas. The complimentary tortilla chips are brought out to you. The salsa bar is self serve. The red salsa is fantastic. Yum. The green salsa was darn tasty too. The interior is simple a bit dated but clean. It has a neat luchador theme. Luchador as in face masked Mexican pro wrestlers. They have some luchador masks displayed on the wall. Not a lot, but enough to make it interesting. Another nod to the customer service was that we ordered dine in about 22 minute before closing. Listen, if you go to Pollock Pines you do not expect that in a place in the Mountains (4000 feet elevation), where they could make the sequel to the movie "The Hills have Eyes" you find incredible Mexican food. My wife and I came here with my son who loves this place on a rainy day and I did not know what to expect. The food was incredible. First the lady at the counter was kind and pleasant. Furthermore, if you have observed any of my reviews clean bathrooms are important. The bathroom was clean and well stocked (The Smell of Fabuluso, Lavender Scent), was in the air. Now let's talk the food. I had Carne Asada and it was off the Hook. A great portion that was marinated to perfection. My wife had the Taco salad and it was full and tastey. The menu is quite extensive and I beleive they do catering. If you are in Pollock Pines or on your way to South Lake Tahoe and you have an itch that needs to get scratched for Mexican food here is the place! read more

I was eager to try this place since I do my laundry next door, and was getting a little burned out on the pizza on the other side of the laundromat. So I placed an order to pick up that being the regular burrito meal with the two sides that came with it. I opened up the carton and the burrito was swimming in some kind of sauce. I've never had a burrito like that, drenched in an unappetizing sauce. My daughter said maybe that was a wet burrito. I don't know. I've never had a wet burrito and I don't plan on having a wet burrito again. The sides were refried beans and rice. Anybody remember the Swanson frozen meal that had the enchiladas and the refried beans and rice. Yep I would prefer that old TV dinner. The chips were okay but I ended up feeding the whole thing to my dogs. Sorry about this review. I wanted to give a positive review but I'm not going to sit here and lie. read more

Ordered a couple plates of tacos de pescado with rice and beans and an order of guacamole and chips. The tacos were delicious with deep fried fish yummy and the rice and beans were good too! The guacamole was delicious and chips were fresh and crunchy. The lady at the counter was very nice. We didn't eat there because we had our dog so we picked up the food. Great place here in Pollock Pines. Sister restaurant in Placerville. Authentic. Reasonable and great tasting. Nice vibe. Very clean. Staff are friendly and efficient. Order at the front from the menu on the wall and they'll bring the food to you. Works well. I've had the fajitas here before and they were delicious. Quality food. Love the salsa bar and free unlimited chips. :) Just went with the 2 item combination plate today with chicken enchilada and beef taco with beans and rice. Hit the spot! The food came back and we instantly fell in love with our food. If they moved out,after trying this place several times the food is gross last nite I went the for a taco salad and a burrito salad what I got was slimy meat on one a greasy taste on the other one then there was nachos when I opened the carton it look like a load of old cheese thrown on top of chips till they were mushy 60.00 worth of nothing that's wrong so I won't be going there any more. I don't know if they have a new cook but the food was not good at all!! we ordered street tacos, veggie tacos and a large chicken quesadilla. street tacos were so-so, the quesadilla had warm sour cream & wilted lettuce inside and the veggie tacos were disgusting! on the menu the veggie tacos advertised that they had rice, beans, sour cream guac, cheese, lettuce and tomato. They came with lettuce, tomato and chopped up carrots on cold tortillas. When I asked about the menu and what it should have they took the plate & dumped rice & beans on top of what was there. Stopped in on a rainy day to get some soup. I had the chicken tortilla, husband had Pazole. Portions were perfect, not too huge, not too small. Salsa from the back was spicy enough for hubby and the ones at the salsa bar were good variety. We also tried the Al Pastor tacos. Delicious and not greasy! Which can be hard to do with Al Pastor. As I'd expect with a taqueria you order at the counter which is great! Especially if you're coming in with a group who wants to pay separately. Great location, good portions, priced well. Went for an early dinner today. They close at 3 on Sunday. Busy with people coming back from Tahoe, but even so our orders were taken quickly and served by Karen who was very friendly. Today was our first time trying Paco's. I ordered "to go" and had a Modelo while waiting. The girl at the counter was friendly. The food came out pretty quick. I drove home, about 15 minutes from the restaurant. I got my husband the Grande Burrito with asada, he said it was super fresh and delicious. My son had a breakfast burrito, which he devoured. I have street tacos and a shrimp taco. They were delicious as well. There will be no more driving down the hill for yummy Mexican food for us anymore. Paco's had great service, awesome flavor and was super fresh! We will be back soon! read more

My husband and I ordered two entree meals from here to go. We order a carne asada quesadilla and a wet carne asada burrito. Both of our meals had very little meat. The flavor was great if you only had asked for beans, rice and cheese not a carne asada burrito. read more

Seems like folks like the place but didn't work for me. It was average at best and no real service. Again, ok for some, try ot and see.

I finally had the opportunity to try this place and I was both impressed and disappointed. I got a to go order of a two item (chile relleno and beef enchilada) combo plate, which I made over the phone. Impressed: the fellow I spoke with was very helpful and gave me a 10-15 minute window for when it would be ready. I also asked for chips and salsa and he said "no problem". I arrived after about 13 minutes and as I walked in saw my food ready to go on the front counter. I notice two containers of salsa on the top, one red and one green, and asked if I could get another red and he immediately walked over to the salsa bar and served me up another. Upon returning home I opened up the containers to find huge portions of all of the food. The red salsa was tasty, but was a little too pasty from the tomato being overly pureed. The refried beans were also pretty good (and should I choose to return I will definitely try the bean & cheese burrito). Disappointed: The sauce the chile relleno (largest I have ever seen) was lying in was actually pretty good, but it was topped with some very salty/acidic veggies including pickled jalapeno, tomato, and onion. It just didn't have the sweet and savory flavor I am used to, and the chile itself was pretty tough (could barely get through it with a fork). The enchilada was bland (both sauce and filling)... there was some heat to it but little else. The chips were very thin and a bit stale in their texture, and I found the rice to be pretty flavorless and over-cooked/dry. All in all I give it a three stars (five for customer service, minus two for the almost inedible chile relleno, bland enchilada, stale chips, and dry/flat rice). My order was placed shortly after their opening time, so maybe that affected things like the chips and rice (maybe yesterday's), but I am struggling with my decision to return based on the chile and enchilada. While I think their ingredients were high quality, I can't help but feel that what they want their food to taste like is way off the traditional Mexican flavors I am accustomed to having been raised in southern California. Tijuana Taqueria down the hill in Placerville does a much better job. read more
