July 30, 2026 the spouse and I went to an estate sale in Pollock Pines today and came down into Placerville for lunch before heading home. We were headed to a place I was familiar with and while going down Main Street saw Burning Barrel. I quickly hoped on their website and rattled off a few items and we pulled into the closest parking lot and made our way over. The restaurant was empty of guests and the young man at the counter was welcoming, asking if this was our first visit, and showed us the food and drink menu and the board of current craft beers. I chose the Longhorn (tri tip) sandwich and fries and a Lillikoi Mai Tai, and the spouse chose the Pastrami Sandwich and a beer called Dank. They do not do table service so after ordering we grabbed a seat. This is a pretty large open space with an outdoor patio, several roll up doors and misters at the outside. Shortly after sitting down a server came over with our meals. I started with a french fry, and I have to say these are the best french fries I have ever had, in my life time. I don't know if its the way they cut the fries, the way they are seasoned, what they are fried in or all of the above, but they were delicious! Our sandwiches were outstanding! Both were incredibly flavorful and filling, and even after I was full I continued eating because everything tasted SO GOOD. The drinks were excellent too, so good that we ordered a second round. The young man at the counter also made my mai tai and did an excellent job. About halfway into our meal other guests started to arrive and by the time we left there were at least 4-5 parties of guests in the restaurant. I will absolutely return, and highly recommend Burning Barrel. I was also pleased to see that they have a Rancho Cordova location, which is a little closer to my home in the Valley. To start off, the nectars are very good. When they do make it, the dark blue milk is EXCELLENT. The other beers are decent. As for food: the fries are cooked perfectly, and the pretzel, is a good pretzel. The cheese sauce is trash. It is so bland and even grainy, there was no point consuming it. The mustard was much better. Now the important part for safety: All the napkins and utensils are inside. They bring the food to your table but you are expected to get those other things. I was here alone and did not plan ahead. I did not feel safe leaving my drink and food alone outside, so I could go inside to get a napkin. So I will probably try this place again but there are some issues. read more

The restaurant was clean, the staff was nice and the drinks were great! But do not get the "Korean crack" flavored chicken. It's spicy and not good flavored. The pickled salad that went with the sandwich and the wings tasted rotten and spoiled the things it touched. The pretzel itself was good and serves 4 easily, but don't use the dipping sauces, they were gross. If you go maybe try the other foods bc what we had was disappointing. Wow this place was cracking on a Saturday afternoon! Downtown Placerville has quiet the ecentric places to visit but burning barrel brewing was a must stop. They have so many choices from IPAs to Sours plus an in house kitchen for your snacking needs. We both opted for different sours and they were good but more fruit beer than really sour. We like our sours that really punch you in the taste buds. We also shared the huge pretzel. The beer cheese comes cold which was a little disappointing but omg the mustard was phenomenal, the horseradish kick is my favorite part and paired really nice with the buttery salty pretzel. read more

I wish I took more photos. Traveled to Placerville for the weekend and wanted to try Barrel Brewing. Glad we did! The beers were very delicious! The bartender was very kind to have us sample a few IPA's and they were all good! Then we got food! We ordered the classic chicken sando and asked it to be spicy, roasted broccoli plate and miso Caesar salad. Gosh, they were all so good! Everything was prepared so well, props to the chef! We love the way the place looks! Felt so clean and really the wood cabin feeling. In fact, we love it so much, we're attempting to contact the manager so we can host our wedding rehearsal at Burning Barrel! Highly recommend them! read more

Driving back from Apple hill. Decided to check this place out. We walked in and the place was nicely decorated. If you sit at a table you have to order at the counter so we decide to sit at the bar. They also have a nice outside seating area. The lady at the bar was very nice and polite. On the drink menu they have different verity's of beers and spirits to drink. They have a nice variety of food to order as well. The lady at the bar was nice and friendly with great customer service. We ordered a few beers with the steak salad and the hummus plater. The steak salad was delicious with plenty of steak and a yummy dressing to complement it. The hummus plater of just as delicious as the steak salad. Great little brewery & cocktail bar, with good food options, beer flavors and cocktail variety. I took one star off because I was confused at the overall tone of the bar. They said they wouldn't change the ingredients of their cocktails, didn't get much of a reason but I'm assuming it's due to quality. That would make sense however they clearly didn't put quality into the details of the overall experience. For example; we were sitting at the bar, however we didn't get refills of water or another round of drinks asked until we requested them. The cocktail napkins were clearly cheap and fell apart with each drink, and we weren't given a new one with a new drink (a standard at high quality bars). Lastly, the bathroom needed work. The toilet paper was out (and we were there first thing after opening) and the paper towels were so cheap they fell apart in your hands, like the cocktail napkins. Overall a nicely little place but they need to be consistent in their brand. read more

This place is pretty good if you want fresh handmade cocktails or beer. They have a good menu although the prices are a little on the higher side for food and cocktails. The beer is priced similarly to their brewery in rancho. Service was excellent and they were very accommodating and helpful. I dig the downtown placerville area but it's just too far for me to regularly visit so I probably won't be back unless I'm already in the area. Definitely worth a try though. read more

The his place has gone so downhill this last year. What a joke of a kitchen. We have been here so many times and it is getting worse every new menu. New flash you guys are NOT a high end French restaurant with a set tasting menu. So when someone orders a sandwich and asks for no sauce it is ridiculous to say no " all menu items served as is! No exceptions " especially when your food - like most of your cocktails - lacks balance and is overly acidic. I don't need to keep giving my money to a place that gives me attitude for the way I order my BAR FOOD. We won't be back. I had such high hops the first time we came. Great place to visit in Placerville! A small parking lot, maybe a dozen spots, is an added plus. Patio has six large tables with some rail seating, and the indoors is spacious with a couple TVs. There is both a brewery (including seltzer and a wine slushy) and distillery aspect, plus a robust food menu. You order at the counter with a staff member. The person who helped me was very informative and patient for my first visit here. I went with a WC IPA, but really it seems like there's something good for everyone here. Full pours are in the $7-9 range for 12-18 ounces. Stop by if you're in town for apple picking, en route to Tahoe or back to the Central Valley/Bay Area... plenty of locals it seems too. It's a little outside the downtown area, but that's probably a good thing. There's another location in Rancho Cordova closer to the Sacramento metro area if that's more convenient. read more

This was a great find in Placerville. I enjoy their Sacramento location and this one was even better. Love the interior, there's an awesome mural. The beer selection is great as always but the cocktails really standout! The ingredients are so fresh. My fave is the Thai me up, which uses their gin spirit. They change up their their menu regularly. There will a tiki theme in Feb. The salad was plenty and fresh. The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable. We got a 4-pack to go. Note that there is no mix and match like the Sacramento location. Might be our regular stop when passing by Placerville! read more

Visited on a Wednesday in the late afternoon, and it was modestly busy. Nice patio seating that allows dogs, and an interior that is new, clean and simple. Food menu is panini style sandwiches, salads, and sides, but no burgers or pizza. Ordered the Bavarian pretzel, which was huge (helps explain the $15.00 price) and it came with cheese dipping sauce and course mustard. Although the pretzel was good, it took a long time for it to be served, especially for something so simple. Tried a beer flight and everything tasted correct for the style, but many of the IPA's are way too similar in flavor profile. Also sampled a couple of their sours, which are like a liquid dessert menu for adults. Staff was friendly and the service was good. Overall a good experience. read more

And their cocktail menu looks dangerously good! The two different chicken sandwiches I had a half of were delicious. The amazing fries might be the winner of the day, though. OMG! So decadent! They had a pretty good selection of drinks available, along with food (which we did not try). I got the Fresh Out the Oven #15 and it was absolutely delicious. We love Burning Barrel in Rancho Cordova and had to give this one a try! The ambiance is really nice, industrial meets natural wood with some unique tables. They have some windows that roll up when the weather is nice, which should be perfect for summertime. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable, especially for being newly opened. Love the draft list that rotates regularly in Rancho, hoping it'll be similar here. This location has more drink options as well, with wine, cocktails, and even Italian sodas! Food was great. I'm a little biased since I love the Rancho location, once I heard that they opened a second location in Placerville I had to try it out, more so since they serve food! Well they sure didn't disappoint, love the wings, nice and crispy, the giant pretzels was nice and warm and not too hard or too soft but just right and they got some really good brews, I always go for a flight chosen by their highly qualified/ expert staff, haven't been disappointed, just wish I could remember what they give me but I'm usually kinda hammered by the end of the second flight of beers. Service was quick even tho it was during the hang town Christmas parade, yes I'm late but nonetheless I enjoyed my experience with friends and family, we had a great time, everyone was in good spirits and had a great view of the aforementioned mentioned parade. We are on our way home from Lake Tahoe . We decided to stop here for dinner because we love their Sacramento location and we were excited they served food here. Beer was excellent as always. After sharing with my husband and kids I decided to take my sandwich to go since I only ate the fries. My daughter left 1/2 her Sandwich so we added that too, as well as wings we didn't finish. We paid and packed up to leave. I used the restroom quickly and when I met them outside I realized I had left the to go box on the table. I asked our son to go inside and get it. He was told it got thrown away. How?! Why?! I'm sure it's a common mistake that people get up walk to their car and realize they left their to go box. If it's in a box. Clearly people want to take it home. Not ok. This was all within minutes. Not one apology. Money and food wasted. Do better. read more
