Pulled pork with my favorite. The trisket sandwich!!! Absolute perfection

Soooo glad we finally tried geartooth!! Just wondering what took so long.....Tonight was 5 Fridays in a row that we've been. The food and beer are amazing. Kit and husband put their heart and soul in the bbq! Everything we've had has been excellent. And the customer service simply the best. Kit makes you feel right at home!! And the beers are always great! Just make sure you get there early because they tend to sell out. Definitely our new go to spot!!

Family owned. James the the brewmaster and severs you, so if you have a pallet for craft beer he can talk about his brews. He is enthusiastic about his art of brewing and you see his enthusiasm in his service. Excellent selection of a variety of beers many winning awards. (See photo) his mom Kit does all the kitchen food and her husband is the smoker of meats. Come before 6 for best selection. As a small local business they smoke what they anticipate for the day and they can sell out when busy. Served with homemade ketchup and pickles.

Geartooth Aleworks is THE brewery and barbecue Placerville go to spot for an overload of tastiness and wonderful family feels!

Geartooth Alewotks is a MUST HAVE when you're in Placerville! Delicious brews and yummy barbecue from this family owned business will leave you wanting for more and more and more! They've been open for about a year and they definitely must be visited to keep them going for many years to come! We got the extra large bbq plate with trisket, baby back ribs and chopped pork and sides of green apple slaw and borracho beans which was perfectly sized for us to share! We got the hot vinegar, mustard, mild and medium sauces and they were all lip smacking goodness! We didn't have enough of the goodness and just had to try the pork belly bites which was oh so good we're uber glad we ordered it too! Dad took all of the smoked meats fresh off the smoker and were perfectly done! Mom's sides and award winning sauces were perfectly matched to all the meats we tried! You can taste the passion they all pour their delicious beer and southern style barbecue! Momma was so touched to hear that someone appreciated the heart and soul she pours into the dishes she remembers from her Florida days. The brewmasters whip up some truly delicious brews that we can't figure out what we liked most. They had a little something for all kinds of tastes and preferences. Crowlers are available for just about everything so you can take some home for later. It is such a wonderful treat to see a small town family run business providing excellent and friendly service in a nicely decorated and clean venue! They were all so helpful with our questions and ordering needs! Momma even brought the dishes out to us so we didn't need to grab it from the counter after our buzzer went off. We look forward to coming back again one day! We'll be sharing this Placerville gem with the friends that will be here in a few short weeks. If you're thinking of a visit, don't walk, RUN in for ALL their goodness!

oh my goodness, geartooth alewerks is such a gem that more people need to know about. first off, the inside is covered in rad posters of music festivals, concerts, and more for some of the best bands on the planet. the food is absolutely epic. i tried the trisket (tri-tip cooked like a brisket) and it was some of the best tri-tip i've ever had. plus such a fun way to eat it like a brisket! the pickles and pickled onions that come with are equally as divine! their house made bbq sauce is phenomenal and even tried their potato chips which are dusted in bbq seasoning. plenty of parking and some outdoor seating! we didn't get to try the beer because they were experiencing some slight issues with the taps. but looking forward to being back for great food and service from the geartooth alewerks crew!

    Beer & Nachos! Yum!

Very friendly staff! I had 2 different types of Pale Ale beers and enjoyed them both. I shared nachos with a friend and we devoured it. They have cards and boardgames to play. Trivia some nights. I only wish they were open later than they are.

Cook on his cell phone in between preparing food. This was about the 3rd time he got on his phone without changing gloves.

Tried this place for the first and last time. Service was ok. Overpriced as far as I am concerned for what you get. We frequent many of the restaurants in Placerville. But my biggest complaint is watching the cook prepare my food while also being on his cell phone. Gross!!! He had gloves on but what does that matter when you keep using your cell phone with them on.

2 Meat Combo with baby back ribs and tri-tip (aka trisket). 8oz side of beans, 8oz side of Mac, and a 4oz side of coleslaw.

I would like to make a specific mention to one of their employees, Kayla, as she has always showed me an excellent time with quick service and great recommendations, and she has also been so nice and kept my preferences in mind for multiple visits going above and beyond to make me feel welcome every time:) I highly recommend this place for everything it offers, and this time in particular I got the Bavarian Charcuterie Pretzel that looks AMAZING! We were headed to a place I was familiar with and while going down Main Street saw Burning Barrel. I quickly hoped on their website and rattled off a few items and we pulled into the closest parking lot and made our way over. The restaurant was empty of guests and the young man at the counter was welcoming, asking if this was our first visit, and showed us the food and drink menu and the board of current craft beers. I chose the Longhorn (tri tip) sandwich and fries and a Lillikoi Mai Tai, and the spouse chose the Pastrami Sandwich and a beer called Dank. They do not do table service so after ordering we grabbed a seat. This is a pretty large open space with an outdoor patio, several roll up doors and misters at the outside. Shortly after sitting down a server came over with our meals. I started with a french fry, and I have to say these are the best french fries I have ever had, in my life time. I don't know if its the way they cut the fries, the way they are seasoned, what they are fried in or all of the above, but they were delicious! Our sandwiches were outstanding! Both were incredibly flavorful and filling, and even after I was full I continued eating because everything tasted SO GOOD. The drinks were excellent too, so good that we ordered a second round. The young man at the counter also made my mai tai and did an excellent job. About halfway into our meal other guests started to arrive and by the time we left there were at least 4-5 parties of guests in the restaurant. I will absolutely return, and highly recommend Burning Barrel. I was also pleased to see that they have a Rancho Cordova location, which is a little closer to my home in the Valley. Thank you Burning Barrel for the excellent food, drinks and customer service! You made our great day even better!

Besides being a great bar it also caters to families. The server here was excellent. She was genuinely very friendly, had great suggestions, and checked in on us just the right amount of times through the dinner. My wife and I shared a few dishes. The nachos here were different, but really fun and flavorful. They use kettle chips and put a kitchen sink of toppings on it. It's creamy, spicy, and the meat on it is very tender. My wife loved the Berry salad, and I also enjoyed the Bahn Mi Tacos. The Bahn Mi tacos had a Korean style pork on them that was very tender and juicy. The slaw on the side added a good crunch. My daughter had a kids cheese pizza and a hot dog. She was very happy!

I was going to update my previous review and can't believe I never wrote a review before. My past experience would had a 5 start review. We loved everything. Today's experience was 4 star (I could do 4.5 if that was an option). The St Louis Ribs are my favorite along with brisket. But I just can't eat that much anymore, so I limited myself to just the ribs. The half rack was 6 big bones. I like my ribs naked so I can taste the rub. Sure enough, them puppies came with no sauce which allowed me enjoy the rub (pretty good but I wanted more) and to try the varying sauces available (Sweet and Spicy being the winner). I found the ribs to be meaty but dry. The expected slip n slide fat feature had been evaporated. The chunky potato salad side was disappointing and the few chucks were close to mashed potato texture and the dressing was too liquid. Hog Wild used to have a smoked Turkey sando which my DW loves. Unfortunately, it has disappeared from the menu and now Chicken is the only poultry option. She reported it to be good but dry. Her Caesar salad though was terrific. Good sized, we both ate it and still couldn't finish it. One minor suggestion. As you have Pepsi products for fountain drinks; adding Pepsi Zero would be a popular thing. Zero is much better than the Diet in our experience.
