On a weekend getaway trip, we had to stop for a family stretch, grocery store run, and meal. To our surprise, Strings Italian Cafe delivered and was incredibly solid through and through. I want to say many of the Strings locations have closed throughout the Bay Area, but this specific location in Jackson was such a nice experience. From the moment we walked in, the service was great ~ we ordered from the kids meal almost immediately, and they brought out a sippy cup and high chair within minutes. We ordered our entrees ~ I went with the Cheese Stuffed Shells and my husband the Spaghetti with hearty meat sauce and meatballs. We had yummy warm bread and olive oil/vinegar delivered to the table, and each entree came with a café salad or minestrone soup..so of course we went with both. The meal was fresh, comforting, and everything we needed and wanted for a quick stop to rest our bones for a nice meal on the road. Inviting interior, reasonably priced, and we even tried Amador Brewing beers, local to the area. To note, you can substitute gluten free pasta for an additional price. Extensive menu (including pizzas) for a little bit of something for everyone. Located in a shopping center, plenty of parking..would def come back when we're in town next year for our annual trip! read more

Amazing place for Italian Food!!! (Especially for the price.) My mom & I had a personal pizza with pepperoni & green onion; which included minestrone soup & their house bread (for their lunch special). Everything was extremely delicious & Cody our server was super attentive. Truly a great worker with a wonderful personality. We will definitely be back again!!! read more

I went in to eat here for the first time today. I went a little after lunch time, I was seated quickly, my order was taken fairly quickly, and I did not have to wait long for my food. While the salad was a little bland (I feel like a little bit more dressing would have helped), the pizza was delicious, and the complimentary bread was really good. My server, Alyssa, was very friendly and attentive. It looked like they were the only one working the room but they made sure to stop and chat to anybody who wanted to talk. There were about two to three other table fulls of people there, but the chatting was quiet, and I really loved the music playing. It was just low classical covers. I heard several well-known songs just classically played. "Wake Me up when September ends" "Zombie" "I want it that Way" "What's Up" and "Madworld" were the ones I recognized. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but I loved it. I spent around the same amount I would have at another spot nearby but I got more food, and leftovers. Service was good. Restaurant seemed clean. Salad was not very tasty just super bland. When my Chicken Marsala arrived it looked delicious. However the meat was inedible and extremely chewy. The zucchini on the plate seemed like the flash coocooked in the pan for 30 second. The spaghetti was decent on the plate However my appetite was long gone. Left hungry and frustrated. The food AND service was incredible! From the bread, artichoke appetizer, Cesar salad, minestrone, to the entree of beef tortellini and squash ravioli.. every single thing we had some delicious! Went on Christmas Eve for a late lunch. Ate the Fisherman's Stew and the Lasagna. The Fisherman's Stew was good with a lot of muscles and shrimp. It had a nice white fish and scallops but no clams. It was served piping hot with toasted bread. The broth had a very good flavor and hit the spot on a cold rainy day. The salad on the side was excellent. The Lasagna was different. It had two large meatballs on each side of the small lasagna. It was plenty of hearty food. Love the focaccia bread with olive oil and balsamic. Service was excellent. Had to request utensils & napkins THREE TIMES as we just sat & looked at our salads! Never cleared a plate or bowl. Good help in Jackson must be really hard to find. I of course stuck with the lunch special, but this time I got Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. It was DELICIOUS! Every bite was to die for, loved it all. Balance taste! My friend ordered the Veggie Zoodles and she loved all of it! Prior to her entree, she had minestrone soup. She was in heaven! She could not stop talking about it after we even left too! What a great place for a casual dinner! Walked in with a group of 6 and was seated immediately. Drinks and bread came quickly and everybody had a good meal. I had lasagna with meatballs. It was so good I ate the leftovers for breakfast the next day. Too many restaurants make theirs too dry and serve it with too little marinara. Nobody makes it like mom, but this was close! (Mom ran an Italian Restaurant for several years) The service was excellent, our server was very responsive and friendly. The music was at the perfect level to be unobtrusive. A great experience. Service is horrible, gentleman server made me wait for bread. Bread is supposed to come first before my soup and salad. Also on top of that, I didn't order a Parmesan chicken and I got one. It's been always great to eat here. The server Lisa always quick and very attentive and food comes out so quick. Just want to update the business hour. I went there on Tuesday to find out Tuesday-Thursday they don't open for lunch. Open at 3pm. I was there at 2:10pm then check the business hour and went to Walmart for just park my car and play my phone. I only come to Strings maybe once a month when I visit my mountain home from Bay Area. Pretty decent sized meal for the price. We are kinda stuck on getting the chicken parm each time because we like it. Didn't receive veggies with our last to-go order, which was probably just oversight, but it should come with everything for the price paid. That keeps me from giving a 5 star review. Was there yesterday with a group of twenty. The one waitress serving our tables could have used a little help but eventually got it done and the food was really good. We had the scampi on angel hair lunch and it was excellent and our friends sitting nearby also really liked their salmon and chicken linguini with alfredo sauce. Heard a disgusting rumor that the owners might close it. Sure hope they don't. We have so few reliably good restaurants in the county. One little thing, if you go there for lunch, keep in mind that they don't open until noon and there's usually a little line out there waiting to get in but we're glad they are opening more for lunch now. read more

Really great find while staying in the area. We decided to come here over the other Italian options near Jackson as the menu here was more innovative and also affordable. Strings is a fun, casual and reliable place for tasty Italian-inspired dishes. It's more American-Italian in my opinion. That's enough to have me on board because I'm never looking for anything more complicated that spaghetti with meatballs or lasagna for the occasional lunch. The service and speed have always been solid and I've never had a dish here I don't like. My favorite (and I know any actual Italian would turn their nose at this dish) is the fettuccine alfredo with chicken added. It's a real tasty alfredo sauce, rich and filling and satisfying. The prices are decent as well, making this a gathering place for the small lunch crowd that assembles in the area. I don't know about their claim of transporting you from Jackson to Italy - that's quite the proclamation - but it is very good food in a small town, which is all I wanted and expected. I'll keep coming back on my rare visits to the area because a good Italian lunch, even to-go, never grows old! read more

I went to strings last night because I was craving their Eggplant Parmesan. The minestrone soup was thin and not as robust as usual. The eggplants was sour and tasted nothing like eggplant. I ate some of the pasta on the plate and sent the rest back. I told them why, but no one seemed very concerned about looking into it and came back and said they just cut the eggplant. I told them to taste it because it taste sour and nothing like eggplant. They were going to come my meal, but insisted on paying for a soup and left the server a good tip because it wasn't her fault.
