What a quaint little coffee shop in downtown Sutter Creek! We were running some errands the other week and I needed an afternoon pick-me-up. I remembered that Chocolatte was nearby and decided to go support a local business. It's been a hot minute since I've gotten a coffee from them, and I was intrigued by their Valentine's Day menu. Ultimately I went with an iced Cupid's Cherry Kiss, while my husband wanted an affogato with extra shot. The staff were friendly and efficient at making our beverages. While we waited, we took a seat by the window to people watch. My drink was so cute, especially with the sprinkles. They added a lovely texture to a velvety chai. I appreciated that it wasn't too sweet even with the sprinkles and cherry white chocolate. As expected, the affogato was strong with the extra shot, but still smooth without being bitter. I need to remember to come back to Chocolatte more often. There's plenty of seating and the vibes are so cozy. Prices are okay, a little high but I'd rather be supporting a local business than Starbucks. They also have various pastries to choose from. What a quiant and lovely Cafe! My cousin brought us here for some bakery goods and coffee before we took a stroll down the street. From the moment we walked through the door, the store seemed very inviting. Reviewing the menu and seeing the pastries, everything looked delicious. We ended up with 3 coffees and matcha, and a peach pastry, cake and a pumpkin cheesecake. Everything was delicious, every but mouth watering. The staff was super friendly and personable. They have games, a few tables to sit back and relax, not to mention ice cream!!! Did I mention truffles?!?!? We were full and I ordered a creme brulee truffles but unfortunately left it behind at my families house. But they did look delicious. The items around the shop are for sale as well, different deserts and candies. The only downfall is after you get your ice-cream, you have to stand in a different line to pay, there is no cash register at the icecream counter. Highly recommend! I visit sutter creek about once a month now and Chocolatte is one of my favorite places to stop. The girls always make my iced lavender latte to perfection. The esthetic is always inviting and I'm always greeted with a warm smile and greeting. This last time I came in they had the cutest set up with different treats for St. Patrick's Day. Stopped by Chocolatte and it was such a cute spot! I got the Chocolatte Iced and it was so good--perfectly chocolatey. My husband ordered the iced chai and that one was really good too. The inside is super cute and cozy, and they even had a card game at the table that we ended up playing while we sat inside. It made the whole experience feel really fun and relaxed. We were staying at the Hotel Sutter which is right next door to this super cute and charming local coffee shop. We wanted to sit for a bit before heading back home after a great trip so we opted for a high top table by the door. The baristas were really helpful and friendly. I wasn't sure what I wanted and the barista made a recommendation that was perfect for me. I ended up getting a caramel macchiato and we also bought a medium roast plain black coffee. I love these local coffee shops where you get to see the locals enjoying and supporting the small businesses in town. They also have ice cream, baked breakfast options and pastries which looked delicious! Next time we are in town we will make sure to stop in a few more times. read more

This is a nice coffee shop that serves pastries, chocolates, coffees, teas and ice cream. Today I had a scoop on Gunther's Pistachio ice cream, always excellent and the best Pistachio I've ever had. I also had an Almond Croissant. The Almond Croissant isn't made in the traditional way and it wasn't good, 1 out of 10. It had a flour base crust applied on top (reminiscent of the topping on a Mexican Concha) with only 4 sliced almonds on top. The Frangipane wasn't a rich almond paste, it looked like peanut butter and was more like a flour paste with almond extract added to it, it barley had a hint of almond flavor. I would not get this again. All of their pastries looked really good but after having the Almond Croissant I remain skeptical. I'll still come back to try other things. 3 stars because the service was great. read more

PROS: - Great coffee, lattes, and hot cocoa! - Friendly service that fixed the problem in our order. - The most darling interior that feels like it's right out of a romance novel. CONS: - There is not a menu?!? This is very strange and we were told they could "make whatever we want". However, this makes it difficult for folks to order and doesn't let customers know what they'll be charged. Is the latte $4 or $8? You won't know until checkout. - There is a disconnect from the cafe checkout and the dessert table next to it. You have to order it there and pickup at the dessert table. - Again, none of the truffles were labeled for flavors or pricing so we had to ask about each individual one. Missed opportunity to labeling to make things easier for customers to purchase. With a menu for the cafe and labeled desserts, this would easily be the best spot in town! read more

What a nice intro to Sutter Creek. My first time and stop in this old-timey town and I recommend checking this town out especially if you're into antique shops (could easily be a half-day trip for Sac metro folks; about an hour of a rather-simple drive)! ---------- Iced mocha: pretty good one here. No skimping on the chocolate sauce, which made me a happy camper. Smooth coffee brew. As a nitpick, I wished that there was a tad less milk and more coffee, but I still very much enjoyed the drink. Peach -I mean cherry- turnover: the turnovers on display aren't labeled and even the staff member was confused on the flavors. The peach turnover that I requested turned out to be a cherry one. Decent cherry turnover. Not overly sweet but could've had more fruit filling. Pumpkin truffle: the chocolate truffles here are sourced by Le Grand Confectionary, a private chocolate production company in Loomis. Wished that it had its own storefront (full catalog available only via online ordering) because the pumpkin truffle, a seasonal truffle, was decadent while not being too rich. A bundled selection of the truffles in general would make an excellent gift. ---------- Super cozy vibes. Love the ornate decor and the arrangement of all of the knick-knacks. I absolutely loved this cafe! Located in the beautiful and historic township of Sutter Creek, it provides both ambiance and delectable treats. When you walk in, you are transported into the late 19th century. Little trays hold s'mores treats, Rockyroad, brittle, etc. I tried the s'mores (unfortunately it's upside down in my pic ). Chocolate covered graham crackers, coated in dark chocolate hug fluffy house made marshmallow - YUM! I also snagged an eclair ... The cream was freaking amazing!!! The cookies looked delish, as did everything else in the display case. They also have ice cream from those warmer days. I'll be back to try more! The barista was very helpful is suggesting drinks for us, I ordered the Choc-O-Latte & a Carmel apple spice tea for my grandma. Our drinks were brought out quickly & the barista even brought the drinks to our table. The Choc-O-Latte come with a chocolate rolled wafer cookie, which was a nice little treat! My family has been coming here for years. We've always enjoyed our time and our drinks. Unfortunately the girl who took our order and made our drinks on Saturday morning was awful. Totally unwelcoming and made terrible drinks. I'm not sure who told these kids that acting like you don't care is cool. No smile, no "hi how are you". This is such a cute shop and it is going to be ruined if the girl working can't be bothered to be a little kind and welcoming. Our drinks were watery. No one said thank you or anything. Someone needs to teach this generation of kids how to give good customer service. Such a bummer. read more

Given that this is a beautiful, charming shop, I must confess that the so called "music" they insist on playing so loudly seriously detracts from the overall experience. Again, it is difficult to hear anything clearly at your own table with that ridiculous noise drowning out your efforts at conversations. Again, it is NOT music at all. There are several employees at the ready to serve you quickly with a smile. 20's-40's jazz plays in the background while you bask in the ambiance to have your morning fix. Here is my review of the food: Ham and Cheese Croissant: 7 - Soft and chewy croissant but still flaky crust, tasty sliced game with a very forgettable cheese...got get some more of that and better quality. Iced Choc-O-Latte w/ oat milk and whipped cream: 7 - Well it was full of ice when I ordered light ice and there was no taste of white mocha that I could find as mocha dominated the taste. My wife accurately described the taste as chocolate ice cream. Didn't get much coffee flavor from it either but I'm sure you chocolate lovers would really enjoy this drink. Latte: 7 - Slightly bitter without the sugar, but after adding a packet the bitterness really goes away. Most people like that espresso bitterness, but not me! While I'm not the biggest fan of Chocolate Fish Roasters, I understand that I'm in the minority. Kids can get ice cream while you get your caffeine fix so it's a great stop for a family treat! My wife and I enjoyed our cute table for two and held great conversation amongst the music and chatter of other guests. Smells great in here. I was excited to try their choc-o-latte and a treat from the display. We chose the maple bacon scone. Sadly, the latte wasn't amazing, just mediocre. No exceptional chocolate flavors or anything out of the ordinary. For a coffee starting a $6 for a small, I was expecting more. Very nice looking cafe with chocolate colored theme, with lots of vintage looking decor. The cabinets have many chocolate items for sale. They have coffee, pastries, candy and quiches. The bacon cheddar quiche is the size of a cupcake with four cornered crust, and they ask if you want crust or not. It can get crowded, but there is a back room with a chess table with bench seats, a low round table and regular tables. There is outdoor seating. The quiche was very good, and the lattes are good as well. Being in an old building, the restroom is small and quaint. The place has quite a festive atmosphere. read more

Tried the Choco-latte and the iced peach green tea, with a almond poppy seed muffin. The muffin was warmed up, and the drinks were good. Can't say enough good things about this coffee place. The customer service is great and the coffee is delicious. It's made w/lots of thought and care. Plus, the place is packed. That is always a great sign in any restaurant. Lots of lovely seating, too. The owner is so friendly and is very educated about her product. I tagged along with a friend of mine, who was in need of a caffeine fueled pick me up. I had hotel coffee in hand as we walked in and were immediately assaulted with smiles, kindness, and a unrelenting need to get me to drink GOOD iced coffee and not the mud in my cup. The owner, Victoria, quickly got me a cold brew coffee without any almond milk and told me to try it without any of the fixin's, I'm so glad I did!
