Nothing beats a cute cafe on the main street of a small town, and Sina's Backroads Cafe is the perfect stop for a quick bite in Sutter Creek. You order up front before taking a seat and there is a good selection of sandwiches for lunch as well as coffee and freshly-baked goods. We missed the window for breakfast but they also serve made-to-order breakfast dishes. My husband and I just wanted a smaller meal for lunch that day, so we settled on the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo. While the portion sizes are on the smaller side, they were balanced and filling for what we wanted (as well as very reasonably priced), and we ended our meal with an in-house baked oatmeal raisin cookie. The cookie was huge and packed with oats but still delicious, with the proper texture and not overly sweet. Our sandwiches were simple yet delicious, with fresh ingredients and bread. The clam chowder was the soup of the day and so so good, I love when clam chowder has potatoes with the skin still attached. Our food also arrived pretty quickly, I would say within 10 minutes of ordering. Water is self-serve. We did not get a chance to try their coffee or the quiche that they're known for, but we will return to Sina's for sure and definitely recommend this cute little cafe for anyone looking for a quick, cozy meal in Sutter Creek! read more

We went to Sutter Creek for a few days and found this cute little cafe on Main Street. It was a super quick walk from our hotel. The cafe is quaint and has a lot of seating. It is family owned which is something I always try and support when traveling. You order at the counter before sitting down. You could always just order to go. We stayed and ate at the restaurant at a table with a view of Main Street. We ordered the Motherlode breakfast dish and the French toast. The Motherlode is a Homemade Biscuit, Country Potatoes, Gravy, Sunnyside Egg & Bacon Bits. It had a great smoky flavor and I always enjoy a homemade style biscuit. The French toast was served with a side of potatoes. It was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. My only regret is that we didn't grab a few cookies for the road home that looked so good. We went up to Sutter Creek today for a family outing. I checked the Yelp reviews yesterday and came up with 6 lunch options. We had 6 Adults and a pair of grandkids and I guessed some restaurants weren't going to have a big table for all of us. This place looked fine though. Corina and I split a Pastrami Reuben on sourdough. They served us on two plates and each of us got one of their yummy dill spears. The 1/2 sandwich was the perfect size for each of us and they were great tasting. I had a cup of delicious clam chowder on the side and an Amador Dirty Blonde ale that was pretty tasty. I need to find a source for that down here in Elk Grove. We will come back here again. read more

Came for the gnarly-huge cookies, stayed for the sandwiches. I figured that the oatmeal raisin cookie would have some crispiness to it, but not have crispiness be its whole personality trait lol. Rather tough and a bit on the one-note sweet side. Would be great to have the cookie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream as it would make a nice topping when crumbled haha. Gold rush sandwich was pretty decent. Not the most flavorful tri-tip but the sandwich bread was scrumptiously toasty. Nice cheese pull too. Cute place, nice employees, but the food was horrible. I was craving pancakes so I ordered a short stack.Mistake. I tasted like a bad batch of Krustees in the box. I actually felt sick once I got home. My wife ordered the French toast with potatoes and turkey bacon. The French toast was ok ( basic white bread coated with cinnamon) the potatoes were terrible, overcooked small cubes and just not right, the turkey bacon was unbeatable. The only tasty item was the latte we ordered. This was obviously not their strong suit as my wife visited a month earlier and ordered a breakfast sandwich which she said was very tasty. All in all nice place, nice staff terrible food. If you can't make the basics I don't know what to say. read more

A wonderful stopping point on the way to or returning from the mountains. The BBQ sandwich was amazing with one of the best pickles I have had in a long time. My wife had the house special, which was equally good if you miss the post-Thanksgiving sandwich. And the potato salad is excellent. On Memorial Day my sweetheart and I ventured in for some breakfast, I ordered the French Toast Breakfast Sandwich with added strawberry jam since the description reminded me of a monte cristo sandwhich, tho slightly different. It was delicious and sweet with a nice amount of meat, eggs, powdered sugar and syrup. The strawberry jam was sweet and really brought the sandwich up a notch, the sandwich was great on it's own tho so I didn't add much syrup. To drink I ordered a classic breakfast staple, a small Orange Juice, delicious! I would definitely recommend stopping into this restaurant yourself, they have beautiful artwork displayed throughout we enjoyed looking at, nice stained glass on the doors and the staff are very friendly and helpful! Especially our cashier, she gave great recommendations, it had been so long since I stopped in that I don't remember what I ordered. Food is really good here, you can tell the cooks care and have pride in what they serve. Service is also very friendly. My only complaint would be pricing as it cost nearly $45 for four breakfast sandwiches. Don't get me wrong, they are hearty and delicious and I understand current inflation. Sina's was also called Backroads in a previous incarnation. Whether or not it's run by the same people, it still has a similar menu and the same vibe, which is to say welcoming. I've popped in a handful of times and have never been disappointed by the food, prices or service. I'm usually a straight up deli meat kind of guy, but when I spied a chicken salad sandwich at a nearby table while ordering I couldn't help but give it a shot. It did not disappoint. The salad was packed with fresh and flavorful meat, lettuce and tomato and paired perfectly with the wheat bread it comes on. This is a very cute hidden gem and fits right in with the neighboring antique businesses. The staff were very friendly and it was clean. The restrooms were clean. I ordered the Big Daddy bagel sandwich. The bagel was very soft and the sandwich was well put together. My wife ordered the French toast plate. It was a good portion size with 4 slices of toast, 2 slices of bacon and a decent amount of country potatoes. The bacon was crispy. The French toast was not soggy. And the potatoes were really good. We love supporting small business and we will much prefer this business over a food chain like Perkos or similar. Coming to Sutter Creek to do some wine tasting with friends, we decided to grab some lunch before we began our tasting tour. We stopped in Sina's Backroads Cafe, an inconspicuous little spot off the main street in downtown Sutter Creek. Their menu was simple: sandwiches, wraps, etc. I decided on the chicken salad sandwich for my lunch. The service was fast and friendly - you can tell it's a local and family-run type of place. And our sandwiches were delicious! It was one of the best chicken salad sandwiches I've ever had. The bread was fresh and soft but held up to the massive scoops of chicken salad, lettuce, and tomato loaded inside. I could have eaten two more of my sandwich. What a nice little gem in downtown Sutter Creek! Fun cafe with great service. Great variety and prices were fair. The BTL was great and the mushroom quiche was yummy and only 4.50. We had a huge homemade oatmeal cookie ($1.75) hour that was awesome. And our tea and coffee was perfect.
