This is the first time my husband and I have been to this restaurant. And my first time in Sutter creek as an adult. One of the antique shops had recommended this place and I'll say it was a good one. We didn't expect it to be as jam packed as it was however it didn't feel over crowded and we came in and musical bingo was being held. Great songs that I think we've all forgotten at some point and i definitely added more to my playlist. My husband got to play in the last round and kept "bugging" our waitress Madi about how close he was to BINGO- he was never close. She was amazing and kept the laughs going and the drinks flowing. Came into Cavanas Saturday for the first time and definitely not our last! We walked in and immediately got sat, hostess was very friendly! There was so many choices on the menu it was so hard to decide, our server Maddy recommended us the fried zucchini and that was BOMB! My boyfriend and I ordered burgers and they were cooked to perfection. Maddy then came over to check on us and I just had to ask if her and the hostess I believe her name was Michaela were sisters, she then pulled the hostess over and they were joking with us for a few! Stopped by Sutter Creek on our way to Volcano yesterday and decided to "give this restaurant a shot." My wife and I shared a special (smoked tri-tip sandwich). The sandwich was excellent along with enough fries for 2 teenage boys along with a pickle. A little pricey ($25) but there was plenty of food for both of us. My girlfriends had the getaway trip in Sutter Creek. We stayed in the Hotel Sutter overnight. The next morning while shopping in one of the boutique stores, we were told the Cavana's was a good restaurant. Another local told us this restaurant was a good comfort food. We did not have any reservation for lunch for party of four. We waited for our table about 10 minutes. The diner was full of energetic and friendly customers. While waiting for a few minutes, a table became available. The reception had the merch like T-shirts, etc. for sale. They had daily specials menu as well. I ordered Tuna Sando & Sprite for drink. My friends had Loaded Louie, Caesar Salad, Smoked Gouda Burger, Half Sandwich Combo (Cavana's Patty Melt & Chelsea Cobb Salad). They had glasses of cold water for drinks. Wow! An amazing find! We were starving and craving a hearty meal! Cavana's delivered! I wanted a French dip and oh my, it was absolutely delicious! The meat was smoked to perfection. The bread was fresh and the au ju hit the spot. The garlic fries were loaded with garlic! So delicious! We opted for a regular salad to balance out our dinner, which was enough for the 2 of us! Great find in Sutter Creek. We were just out exploring and decided to give Cavana's a try. We came in about 11:30am and were given a table right away. They were busy, but looked like the system they had going was working. Steady stream of people, in and out. We ordered a Pat's Package which was a drink with Absolute raspberry vodka and a Coors light back as well as a Draft beer. We had the appetizer platter ( chicken strips, fried zuchinni, fried artichokes and chicken wings) and the 49er pastrami sandwich with fries. Everything was absolutely delicious. The pastrami was excellent! The zuchinni sticks were huge! The wings were also really good. The portions were pretty big! Enough food to share and try a few differnt things. I asked the host if they were playing the warriors game. He said he could change one of the TVs to the game and I was so happy! Unfortunately I think it was on NBC Sports Bay Area and whatever service they had didn't have access to it. Such a bummer we were out of network. I think instead they were only playing college sports. (I believe we had the same issue with the hockey game.) I did bring my tablet so we were able to stream the game. Food wise, I was surprised. A louie salad? Yes please! It had a good amount of crab, prawns, etc. The app sampler was a nice way to try a few items. Came with crispy chicken, fried zucchini, artichoke hearts, pub wings, carrots, and celery. Drinks wise, everything we ordered was fairly priced. Cool little bar and restaurant in Sutter Creek. Rey bust spot, town, can be difficult to find parking so get there when they open. We fortunately found parking right in front. I had the grilled cheese in sour dough bread. Comes with two kinds of cheese, bacon and fresh jalapeños (I had mine sans tomato). Melt gooey lots of cheese and flavorful. Had the fries which are delicious. Generous portions I brought half home, yay me for dinner later or lunch tomorrow. We also had the deep fried/batter dipped green beans as an appetizer; very delicious. Good atmosphere, prices consistent with other similar restaurants. Friendly service, good hot food and TV if you need to watch sports. Music, too, a tad too loud but ok. There is outdoor seating and dogs are welcome out there. We stopped for lunch after walking around this cute town. Sat outside to enjoy the afternoon. Our server was great. She had an awesome sense of humor and personality. She was on top of things and ensured our needs were met. Our table ordered the Smoked Gouda burger, smash burger with garlic fries, sweet potato fries and a regular House salad. These burgers are huge and were messy but tasted so good. The bacon was thick and tasty but hard to chew through so needless to say it didn't make the burger fun to handle. The patty's were seasoned well. The salad was a decent size and it wasn't overly dressed. I could have done with a little less Gorgonzola but overall good. Stopped here on the way home from snowboarding in Tahoe on our way home to Sacramento and we are so happy we did! This restaurant/ pub is located in the coolest little antique strip of shops. I wish we were here during the day so we could have shopped around because it looked like a really fun area. The pub vibe right when you walk in was fun and alive! The staff were super friendly and sat our party of 8 quickly for a Sunday evening, and there was a music BINGO going on! We sat right next to the DJ Erik and it wasn't super loud. We bought 7 cards for $10 so that even the kids got to play and they loved it! Everyone at the table knew almost all the songs and it was a fun and entertaining way to pass the time waiting for food and something to do as a family while eating! Anddd we won! My daughter for a gift basket and my son won after they ran out of prizes but Erik went to the back and got him some candy so for a 7-year-old he was ecstatic! A perfect way to end our family trip. Now on to the food. One word, BOMB. I had a very hard time even choosing what to get because the menu had so many good classic choices. And all the food coming out the kitchen looked amazing, especially the salads! I've had a few meals at Cavana's while passing through Sutter Creek on the way home from adventures further north. The town itself is tiny but has a few locally owned, interesting shops and restaurants. Cavana's seems to be a locals favorite. I've never encountered a wait-even on a weekend. That could be because service is very efficient and prompt. Their menu has a good selection of salads, deli style sandwiches and burgers. Each visit, I've gotten the garden veggie which is piled high with sprouts, cucumbers, tomato, & avocado with a cream cheese spread. They add in some chopped walnuts for a nice crunch-unique touch. Portions are huge and food comes out pretty quick. Service is friendly and attentive with regular refills. It's loud and lively in here but is a great casual spot in Gold Country whether you're passing through or exploring the area. read more

Delicious juicey burger! The meat was high quality. The French Onion soup was the worst I have ever eaten. Soooo salty and very little onions and instead of Gruyrre Cheese (which makes a great bowl on French Onion Soup) a piece of Swiss Cheese was slapped on the top of the bowl. Went last night for music bingo. After being seated by Jason and waiting 30 minutes Dan came and took our drink order. As usual his cocktails are fantastic. Jason brought water and the took orders and served 3 tables their food. We had to get Jason to come and take our order another 20 minutes later. We waited another 20-25 minutes for our food. Jason never checked on us. We had to track him down again to get refills for our water So frustrating and disappointing. Worst service ever. The food is very good but the service is NOT acceptable anymore.As this is not our first time dealing with out of control wait lines. Going to check out the Sutter Gotel next time. This restaurant has really gone down. The service is very flaky. I called in for an order pick up and they told me 20-30 minutes. I waited for over an hour to receive my order. Very quick to take the payment of course and the gal said " you will get it when I bring it". I didn't see her again. For our main dishes, I ordered the little smash burger and it was perfect--juicy, full of flavor, and cooked just right. My husband got the smoked Gouda burger, which was delicious with amazing flavors, although it could have been cooked a bit more in the center. I've been here twice now once like five years ago and this year. WOW the food hasn't changed. When I say best veggie burger EVER I mean it it's home made a delicious and huge. Also got the garlic fries for $1 extra worth it. Service was better once we were at the table just took a while to get to a table. Goat Cheese balls are ridiculously good! Deep-fried in panko bread crumbs, with creamy goat cheese melting inside. Wonderful! BLT is the most massive BLT you'll ever order at any shop. The place is decorated with lots of vintage signs inside and fun to look at. Service was great. This is my second time to have a meal at Cavanas Pub and Grub and it did not disappoint. My sister was in town and We were wandering around Sutter Creek, I wanted to bring her to the Pub and Grub and hoped the food was as good as I remembered. I ordered a turkey bacon Cheese with fries and my sister had the Volcano half sandwich and a spinach salad. The salad was fresh and had a small fried goat cheese fritter which was a nice treat. The bread was fresh and a half sandwich was plenty. My sourdough bread was lightly toasted and the sandwich was piled high with fresh sliced turkey lunchmeat. Plenty of bacon and the lettuce, tomato, avocado and sprouts were all fresh. The sweet hot mustard finished the sandwich. The fries were crispy and hot. I ended up taking home half a sandwich because it was a lot of food. So for the price they don't skimp on flavor or portions. Our server was attentive and let me say the Pub was fairly busy but he made sure we were taken care of. He even brought me a little bag of ice so my sandwich stayed cool in by cool bag until I got home which was about a 45 min drive. The other staff were also attentive. Sutter Creek can feel a bit limited on food choices from the visitors viewpoint. A group of us have stay in this quaint town for years now as part of our fall wine stock up adventure. Needing a bite (before 8PM, most places close around that time) we heading to try Cavana's on a Sunday night. It was starting to get busy because on Sunday nights they play music bingo. I highly recommend grabbing some grub and a cocktail and buying a few cards. It was a blast and we won a could of gift cards for our next visit. Playing bingo you will need a table inside, if that is too loud then there are a few on the sidewalk out front. Salads, sandwiches and burgers are on the menu. Healthy size portions too. I went with a delicious patty melt grilled perfectly on a marbled rye bread. Two to three napkins messy, it was that juicy, so be prepared. They offer plenty of cocktails and several of the local wines. It has a bit of the school pub feel, and was more locals that night than tourists.
