As you enter the restaurant and the main dining room, you'll be treated to a rustic decor and a cozy dining atmosphere.

Craft beer, brewed at an in-house micro brewery, along with delicious food, in a fun, electric atmosphere, with a great view of South Washington Street, which is the main street in downtown Sonora, CA. Does that sound like a winning combination? You're definitely a winner when you visit Sonora Brewing Company, located in downtown Sonora for a beer, or two... along with a fine meal. As you enter the restaurant and the main dining room, you'll be treated to a rustic decor and a cozy dining atmosphere. Bottles of practically every kind of condiment line the walls, which makes for convenient dining, and adds to the "brew pub" atmosphere of this fine restaurant. The micro brewery, along with the bar, is located in the tap room, which is separate from the main dining room. The beer menu is posted above the kitchen and at the bar in the tap room, and the food menu is posted on a laminated paper sheet. From the "Burgers" section of the menu, I went with a "Hamburger," and made it a cheeseburger by adding a slice of pepper jack cheese. My side of choice was fries, and the menu offered several options for the side dish, but I'm glad I went with the fries, as they were as good as it gets. A pint of in-house brewed "No Name Pale Ale" made for a refreshing appetizer or dessert, whatever way you want to look at it. The burger began with a half-pound slab of meat, cooked anyway you wanted... I went with medium. The meat patty was large, tender, juicy and grilled to perfection, which made for a great foundation for a delicious burger. The grilled burger patty was placed on a lightly buttered, fresh, toasted bun, and made the perfect bun-to-meat ratio which Sonora Brewing Company nailed to a "tee." You can't see it in the photo, but there was a slice of dill pickle which added to the taste sensation. The burger was topped with a slab of perfectly melted pepper jack cheese, sliced red onion, sliced tomato, along with both purple and green fancy lettuce. The cheeseburger arrived without mustard, mayonnaise or ketchup, but they were available on the side should you have felt to indulge. I didn't, as this burger was simply "standalone delicious!" One bite into this amazing cheeseburger, and I was transported to burger nirvana, as this burger was simply amazing. The beef patty was juicy and delicious, and I could actually taste the robust, tangy flavor of the pepperjack cheese. The veggies were chilled, which makes for an epic burger, as the contrast between the warm meat and cheese, with the chilled veggies, makes for a burger that will put of smile on the face for any burger connoisseur. The contrast between warm and cold makes for an unbeatable burger. The side of fries... where do I begin? The fries were cut to a medium size, dipped in flour - I think - and deep fried to a beautiful, golden brown. The fries were crispy golden brown on the outside, with the light coating of flour adding a bit of "crunch" and depth, and white and tender on the inside. The fries were simply amazing, as they were perfectly fried, without a hint of oil or grease, and just enough salt to add seasoning, but not at all overpowering. It was great that a mountain of fries came with my burger. I simply adored the fries! The pint of "No Name Pale Ale," which I enjoyed for both an appetizer and dessert was bold, crisp, flavorful and refreshing. The 6.6% alcohol made the afternoon livelier, as my motel was just a half mile walk from the brewery. It was great to look through the glass at the brewery where I could see everything, and know the beer was brewed just feet away from where I was sitting. Such an amazing cheeseburger, fries and a micro brew! Tuolumne County dining at it's finest is enjoyed at Sonora Brewing Company, located on South Washington Street in downtown Sonora, CA. Friends... this is fine-star dining!

Hubby and I tried this place as we were exploring downtown sonora before moving up to the nearby city and boy, the food was delicious! Good service , clean but overall nice setting and food.

A nice unpretentious place on the main street. You can actually sit outside and observe the people. Do you have a decent selection of beers and a good menu I got the garlic fries with my beer. Pretty good.! Great service

Sonora Brewing hit the spot on Cinco de Mayo! Luckily, it was not busy around 6 pm or so as we found a table rather quickly. The waitress was kind and responsive to questions we had about the menu. We ordered 2 burgers and 2 Cokes which came out to be around $40 - not bad! This is a place that has a little for everyone. It's quaint but also inviting. We enjoyed our dinner and will come back to drink some of their product.

This was a really fun stop! The bartender lady was super fun and very enjoyable! The beers were all decent, nothing special. But everything was good.

Good times over Memorial Day weekend turned even better with the quick pit stop at Sonora Brewing Company at downtown Sonora. Wide verity of beer selection has definitely the one to please your need. From four ordered without menu, all were available and served. You might have to battle the flavor of the brew, cause you know, recipes are different. Served Hefeweizen had a little bit of sour aftertaste. Make sure you come hungry and get yourself one of those outstanding burgers! These guys are hard to compare with anything and have to try to belief. Very interesting design approach with brew tanks being in the dining hall and street seating by the barrels. Smiles and great hospitality makes you want to come back for more pleasant experience which will absolutely be the case. Bravo and thank you, Sonora Brewing Team! Till next time.

First time here, and we will be back! Sonora Brewing Company is a bit of a hole in the wall, which is what we are always locking for! They brew beer onsite and , and you can see the brew kettles at work inside. The service is pretty good -- they had one server for the entire place and despite being on her toes, we got plenty of attention! The food is very good, but the cook knows his stuff! We had a clear shot from our table of him, and he put all the special touches into his technique like steaming the patties under a dome to melt the cheese on our burgers, hand breading our fish, and making especially sure our cheese curds were cooked perfectly by giving them a little pinch. The only thing this place is missing is a paper take out menu -- I would have loved to advertise it in my business.

Pit stop. Limited food options, pick between sandwich and burgers, which are essentially fancy sandwiches. I ended up ordering a mushroom and Swiss burger (not vegetarian) paired with Cajun mashed potatoes. Taste was as expected of a mushroom burger, couldn't tell the difference between regular mashed potatoes and Cajun mashed potatoes. The stout was heavy and bitter. Now if I had known, I would have gotten something else. I didn't because the server didn't bother to introduce or explain their selection and offering. She just pointed to a black sign with these names, and waited for me to make my pick. Downtown Sonora is so tourist heavy, it's a great opportunity wasted to get your brewing co.'s name out there if your servers aren't doing this part or their job. It took a while to get my bill, and the server gave me the wrong bill. Tons of breweries in the area, wouldn't recommend this one.

Beer flight loved the little cups so much we bought one.

Great friendly place service was fast! The beer flight & appetizers were top notch definitely why we will be back soon!

Southwest burger with side salad, a pint of Razz (sour beer)
    Alice S.

The beer selection here is fairly limited, but luckily they had a sour (Razz) that I liked! Meanwhile, the service and food were just mediocre. We waited over 10 minutes before we managed to flag anyone down to give us a menu, despite the fact that the place was half empty when we arrived. Once I finally got ahold of a menu, I ended up ordering the southwest burger with a side salad. This burger was HUGE, and I couldn't finish it even though I was pretty hungry. By the end of this meal, I just couldn't even think about consuming another burger for a while. It was a bit too much. I'd come back here for another pint of the Razz but will definitely skip on the food.

    Bayou BBQ Burger
    Chuck M.

This place has awesome food. The menu is not that big, which is a great thing, but everything sounds so good. The bayou bbq burger was great. It is a half pound burger cooked the way you like it, not something you can get at your local fast food spot, topped with bbq pulled pork. The bun was a good tasting artisan. The festive 49er is a well stacked turkey sandwich with cream cheese, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. My wife and I did Halfses because when the food came we both want to try the other sandwich. The service was good, a little slow, but they were jam packed. The ambiance is the prefect small town bar feel. Oh and their beer was great too .... This is a must stop if you are in the area!!!

Barley made 4 stars. It's not bad for what it is and prices are reasonable. I got a blonde beer and wife the heff. Not bad. Also got chicken wings and pretzels. Again good. Nothing great but good. Feel it's better than a 3 but like I said barely made 4. If I was in the are I would probably go back. It's worth a visit. Waitress was great. Very friendly and on top of things.

Food was below average. I was definitely disappointed after reading the reviews. Fries were soggy and cold. And to pay $7 for a draft beer at a brewery was the kicker. Not impressed. Stars are mostly for the great waitress.

Their happy hour is DAILY from 14:00-16:00. The restaurant was pretty busy on a Sunday, but we didn't have to wait long for a table. Our server was attentive and friendly. For our cocktails, my friend went with the Huckleberry lemonade, while I went with the pomegranate whiskey sour. She thoroughly enjoyed her cocktail, and so did I. At that price point, I didn't expect much, but it was a solid cocktail, although not as strong as what I'd normally get elsewhere. The clam chowder sounded really good, and I couldn't help myself, so I ordered it. My friend is not a fan of seafood, so the chowder was all for me. The crostini was very nicely toasted and I loved dipping it into the chowder. I was also pleasantly surprised by the flavor and quality of the clam chowder. It was packed with a ton of clams, and was perfectly hearty without being heavy. We opted to share the fallen apple pizza, which was the perfect choice. The dough was pillowy and light, and the toppings delicious. I would have liked more apple slices, as it didn't seem like they were very prominent, and for the balsamic drizzle to be more uniform, but overall it was a solid pizza. I took leftover pizza home, and my husband enjoyed it for dinner. We heated it up in the air fryer and that was the way to go. While it was a little noisy in the restaurant, mainly due to a large group seated next to us, we still had a good experience, and the booth seating was comfy. I would love to bring my husband back to try more happy hour menu items next time we visit Sonora! The price point is seriously hard to beat, and Emberz is a solid spot for hanging out and having a good time.

I've heard of this burger joint chain for over a decade. I first saw it on Triple D back when that…read moreshow had a lot of pull. I think that particular location (the original) was in the Sacramento area, not sure if it is still there. But they have expanded at least 4 newer locations, with one in the Bay Area in Napa, 2 in the Stockton/Lodi area and this one in Sonora which is in the foothills of the Sierras. The others are singular brick n mortars and maybe 1 of them may even have a bar. This one in Sonora is more of an 'express' version that's attached to a gas station minimart. There is good seating like about 5-6 tables inside with another 2-3 tables outside. If you need a restroom, you'll have to walk across the minimart. For a burger joint this place has a serious unique angle. But you have to love cheese in order to appreciate that angle, otherwise you'd be missing out on what makes this place special. When you get a cheeseburger here, they will add a huge mound to that sizzling burger that it will deliberately spill onto that griddle. They will cover it to facilitate the melting and what results is a melty cheeseburger with this awesome 'cheese skirt' attached. I have never seen a burger quite like this, so the novelty was exciting. That cheddar cheese skirt is lacy, gets kinda caramelized and hardens a bit. Kinda like a cheese frico if you've ever had it in a fancy Italian resto. When hot it is semi-liquidy; when warm it is pliable like soft plastic; and when completely cool it will harden like a crisp cracker, but it always tastes of salty intense cheese. Some people eat the skirt first as an appetizer, as it is difficult to eat the actual burger with the skirt intact. Others bend that skirt back into the burger/bun and then proceed to go to town. That is how I did it and imo that is the way to go. Cuz in that, that intense cheese flavor and texture is mingled with the burger and produce, giving each bite a representation of everything. It is truly a ride. I also have to give props to the burger itself as it seriously quality stuff. It is more 'steak-y' than cheap ground beef-y. And that's a good thing cuz the cheese makes it so rich that a cheap fatty burger would make this excessively greasy. The produce and pickles are a must in this equation, cuz like I already pointed out, this is so rich and oily that the fresh produce and the quality tangy pickles complements this burger ride perfectly. I actually wouldn't mind in getting extra pickles next time as it brightens the bites beautifully. The bun was just okay, wished it were toasted more but at least it withstood the juiciness of the ride. It didn't disintegrate or turn to mush, so again giving props. You can pick a burger size 1/4 or 1/3 pound. And you can even pick the size of the cheese skirt in ounces. I did the 1/3lb in the smallest skirt which is about 3 oz of cheese. I found that to be quite filling and perfect juicy bites. I wouldn't change that ratio. Any bigger your jaws will have to do some compromising/extra work. Tried some fries from my traveling mates and I'm glad I didn't get any with my order. It was the coated/textured type and just taste too processed for me. A burger and a soda was around $14ish. Staff was really nice and executed the concept perfectly. They cook to order, so it takes at least 5 minutes for a burger, over 10 if you place an order with multiple burgers. Worth the wait, this was a very memorable and satisfying burger experience. No doubt fiver!

Interesting for me seeing as I had been standing there for a few minutes before they entered the restaurant, while servers walked passed me & those near the bar area made eye contact and went back to their duties. Another couple then came into the restaurant and were waiting beside me to be seated, a different server emerged and started walking towards us, she then asked if I had already been helped and got me seated at a table and got menus & drinks while I waited for my friend to arrive. Once she arrived our server got her drink order and checked to see if we need anything while we look over the menu. We noticed they have an updated menu with all the same favorites. My friend ordered the Angel Hair Pasta w/ Italian Sausage with a cup of soup to start, and I ordered the Garlic Roasted Ribeye with Jalapeno Cheddar Mashed Potatoes & Seasonal Veggies with a house salad to start. The food was good not quite as good as I had anticipated. My friends pasta was over sauced, too much sauce for the amount of pasta. My steak had too much demi glaze on it; I did wipe most of it off and I will order it on the side next time. My steak was cooked slightly under what I requested but still good. We were so stuffed that we did not even want to look at the dessert menu. I probably will go back, but I will wait a bit before we return.
