It's been quite a while since I have been into the Peppery; there were previous service issues which caused us to decide to stop choosing this restaurant. Last night my bestfriend & I decided to meet up at the Peppery for dinner. I arrived first and went in to get a table for the two of us. I was waiting in the entry area behind the "Please Wait to be Seated" sign. As I waited another party arrived and was waiting beside me. One of the servers came over walked past me and asked them for how many and took them to be seated. Interesting for me seeing as I had been standing there for a few minutes before they entered the restaurant, while servers walked passed me & those near the bar area made eye contact and went back to their duties. Another couple then came into the restaurant and were waiting beside me to be seated, a different server emerged and started walking towards us, she then asked if I had already been helped and got me seated at a table and got menus & drinks while I waited for my friend to arrive. Once she arrived our server got her drink order and checked to see if we need anything while we look over the menu. We noticed they have an updated menu with all the same favorites. My friend ordered the Angel Hair Pasta w/ Italian Sausage with a cup of soup to start, and I ordered the Garlic Roasted Ribeye with Jalapeno Cheddar Mashed Potatoes & Seasonal Veggies with a house salad to start. The food was good not quite as good as I had anticipated. My friends pasta was over sauced, too much sauce for the amount of pasta. My steak had too much demi glaze on it; I did wipe most of it off and I will order it on the side next time. My steak was cooked slightly under what I requested but still good. We were so stuffed that we did not even want to look at the dessert menu. I probably will go back, but I will wait a bit before we return. read more

We usually go here when we go to the casino. This time I ordered one of their "specials" which is pesto angel hair with shrimp except I asked for linguini. Well... it looks like I got broken pieces of angel hair and my pasta was drenched with water pesto sauce. I was too hungry to wait for replacement. But for the price paid...not worth it. My MIL ordered medium rare skirt steak with shrimp. Her steak was beyond well done. The only saving grace was our waitress. She was nice and for that, I rated 3 instead of 2 stars. read more

The service is decent but not what it used to be.. the food is ever worse. I have been coming to this place for years. But it changed ownership and as soon as that happened the food went down hill.. cutting corners ordering cheap ingredients shows... sorry peppery but when my 7 and 10 yr old say it's not as good as it used to me... maybe you should call the old owner and get some pointers. This is one of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. It's not a fancy spot, the decor, tables and chairs probably haven't seen an upgrade in a couple decades, but it's hands down a 5 star restaurant. I'm surprised they only have 3.7 stars. There is plenty of parking, plenty of seating. We came here on a Sunday evening and were greeted and seated right as we walked in. The staff is top-notch. I wish I would have gotten our waitresses name because she's a rockstar, she gave her recommendations, remembered our order (even with my friend asking her 100 questions and changing her mind a couple times) and was super attentive making sure to check in often. I also got to see other staff interactions with other customers and they were all friendly and attentive, also I feel there were quite a few regulars because the place really felt like you're walking into a friends house. We got the calamari appetizer, it was perfectly crispy and delicious. We all ordered steak and each one was perfection- cooked just how we ordered and tasted amazing with the different sauces. My fiancee got the white peppercorn and nearly licked his plate clean, I got the garlic one with sautéed mushrooms, and our friend went with the chipotle on the side (she ended up pouring it on top because it was amazing.) We've been to some fancy steakhouses, and this was better than most, with a much better price tag. The servings were generous and I had enough to take home for lunch the next day. Also the bread was hot and perfect, crunchy on the outside and soft inside. I wish we had room for dessert because I know it must be amazing too. We will definitely be coming back! read more

Although soup and service was good, the rest of the meal was lacking. Everything seemed like it hurriedly rushed prepped. Salad had huge uncut leaves of lettuce and my fish and chips were terrible. Huge restaurant with tons of seating and a bar area. Simply decorated! And the service is friendly. The portions are huge so you definitely won't leave hungry. A decent meal and fairly priced. I had the tri-tip pepper wrap which was really good. I got fries with it that are shoestring but they were soggy :/ so not my style. There are some flys that fly around the tables which can be annoying. The fried asparagus is so delicious! The menu has many options so a little something for everyone. A good place to bring your group if you are in the area. Many locals come here. Overall decent place, friendly service and can expect to leave full. read more

We've had some great dinners here over the years. The prime rib is always good and my wife loves when asparagus is in season because they do such a great job with the beer battered asparagus. This particular trip we came just for the dessert. Usually we're so full from the large portioned meals we don't get dessert. I'm so glad we did! We got the Brownie Bomb and Mud Pie. Ok you need to come eat here just for the "pumpkin" sauce alone. It's a rich, creamy, savory sauce that evidently doesn't have pumpkin in it, but folks call it pumpkin sauce. We first discovered it with their mozzarella sticks, which are made from scratch (like many menu items) and they are MASSIVE. Like shockingly big mozzarella sticks. We've had several of the burgers, several of the steaks and about their entire appetizer menu. Can't say enough about it. Words do it no justice, to eat here. You're missing out. I ordered a burger and they have no mayonnaise! So very disappointing and if I had know before ordering- I could have ordered something different! My husband went in to make a to-go order after 30 mins went to check and our order had been lost or misplaced the manager was sweet and had taken my husbands order and remembered putting the order in. They made the order free and gave us a gift card with an apology for the wait it was more than they even had to do for us but we appreciated it. Food was amazing and things happen we had a little extra wait but it was worth it . I wish we had gotten her name but thank you so much for the lovely date nite food. read more

Came here on a slow Wednesday night and was greeted and seated by the hostess immediately. Discovered this place through Restaurant.com. Had a $25 coupon that I had purchased. Upon being seated I presented it to the server, who advised "Oh, we are not part of that program." I showed her that I had purchased it the week before and that their business was still on the Restaurant.com website. She said she would have the manager come over. Never saw the manager. Standard bait and switch. As we were already seated, we decided to order. I ordered the steak sandwich, which had a fair amount of sinew in it. Fries were really good, but the sandwich was sub-par. My son ordered a burger which he said was cold. Our waitress (young girl in her early 20's) spent more time flirting with the guy at the table next to us. Had to flag her down twice to get condiments. Granted, it was slow, but she spent the entire time we were there talking with the one guy. I guess there is a reason they were so slow. Hard pass in the future. Gave them 2 stars as the fries were pretty good. read more

Everyone was super nice here service was quick. I really appreciate some dishes and some dishes were meh. Portion sizes are great! But you would think when paying closer to steakhouse prices you would get food that is a little bit more well thought out. The skirt steak was tough even though it says it was marinated. I absolutely loved my burger. I wish it was a little bit more juicy. I'm thinking that my burger patty was frozen. I hope the owner makes some adjustments because they have a pretty great thing going on here.. if they would focus a little bit more on being more of a scratch kitchen, they would run this whole town!! read more

This was the first time for my Wife and I, and everything was great! We came in for lunch on Saturday, December 20. Immediately greeted, and seated. Jasmine was superb, with thinking of everything for us, kudos. The Jambalaya, perfect spice! The pasta, very nice! This was my daughter's second visit, had the burger, which was loaded with bacon, and the sweet potato fries, cooked perfectly! The asparagus with pumpkin sauce, amazing! Nicely lit, and very clean place, one worker was cleaning everything, heck, even the male and female bathrooms were clean. We will be back! This is a model for all restaurants to follow! read more

We like to order the Cobb salad, blue cheese for days, literally. Like you'll pay more for a container of blue cheese at the store than you will for this salad. Plus, you can split it. But seriously bring a ziploc bag to take some of that cheese home! Really though, we all find something we like, I like wings. Don't drink the wine, it tasted like it had been sitting open for a month. Must be lots of beer drinkers here from what I could see. read more

Stopped at this restaurant on my way to Yosemite National Park during my getaway. Tri-Tip and linguine pasta was great; meat was tender and delicious. Carrot cake and other desserts were fantastic. The food is always great I especially enjoy the jalapeño poppers for an appetizer with the pumpkin sauce. The sandwiches and burgers are always delicious. The place is nice good size so if you have a large party accommodations are usually not a problem. The service has always been good. read more

The service the food the Ambiance was great the portions were good and it was a good place to stop and eat.

The place is still solid, but I have a couple of tweaks to mention. I hadn't been here in a couple of years, but I well remember what I've liked about in the past when I visited fairly regularly. First, the pocket bread is absolutely delicious, but today the accompanying tomato fresca was anything but fresh. It was tired looking, possibly yesterday's leftovers, and while I tried a dab, it just didn't sing. The jalapeno poppers were properly spicy, but the blistering temp on the outside didn't match the chunk of unmelted cheese which sadly tumbled out of the pepper. I just tucked it back in, reminiscing the creamy molten goodness of yore. The ranch dressing is still totally killer. One of my favorite burgers of all-time is the Mushroom Swiss burger. I always swap out pepper jack for the Swiss. The current menu offers a chipotle mushroom burger, which my server assured me was the same as the afore mentioned burger. It was not. The flavor profile was off and the burger stacked in the wrong order. (Read my last review.) Lastly, I ordered it medium and it arrived dry, dense and overcooked. The onion straws used to be very crispy and could stand up to the ranch dressing, but these were limp and soggy and simply sank to the bottom of the ramekin. My niece enjoyed her Seafood Linguine. I trust her on that. We split a Brownie Bomb, an overly sweet and gloppy mess. This Bomb missed the target. The times, they are a-changing... read more

Food was basic. Actually, worse than Jack in the Box! I recently had a chicken sandwich from Jack in the box that was better than the dry chicken sandwich here "mango habanero". What a crock of sh*t. This is my review on one of the specials you see RIGHT when you walk in, on the right side. We thought, wow that sounds tasty. It was awful. The peppers take on it was tomato based, tasted nothing like mango... I thought "if dominos can't screw this up, then the peppery would make it amazing". I was wrong. Dry chicken. Not even hot. Bread roll wasn't warm and tasted dry. Almost inedible. Huge pile of sweet potato fries, way too thick cut. Felt like I was eating steak fries. They should be thinner and crispier. Not just gigantic hunks of sweet potato. The chefs are clearly novice or new. The old food was amazing, specifically the chicken tortellini. But I don't always buy that. Service was weak. Need some men in there instead of ALL cheerleaders ish girls. They're cute and all but the service sucks big time. Multiple trips because they can't carry much. Banging plates on the table, not one or two, but every single one. No paper in the men's room to dry hands after washing. Told the tiny girls at the register who were furiously texting and they're like "thanks" but I doubt anything was done. It's overall just an unprofessional and goofy environment where quality of the food has dropped and these kids they hired don't seem to want to follow the rules. The food quality is suffering and it makes it a place you don't want to spend $15 for a sandwich at when a $7 fast food sandwich was better, hotter, and more moist?? This message is to the (new?) owner. You need to spend some serious time in there and put someone there when you're not there who's not so lenient because leniency has your food tasting like trash and with your kitchen being out of whack, I'm surprised to see the place so full when we went. There were other rude customers literally blocking walkways, exits etc, and there was 0 leadership telling them to stay out of the way. We almost got into a fight just trying to leave the place. These weird customers didn't want to move out of the walkways. It's very congested and customers also disrespectful/discourteous to other customers. It feels almost like a hostile environment walking through the doors. The staff has a "tapped out" look on their faces, always. It's kinda sad. Is there no "family meals" mid shift? We had those when I worked at Benihanas. It keeps the staff HAPPY. Positive notes: The food was flawless multiple times about a year ago and before that. But this time, we could tell it was different. The menu looks nice and the back room with noise canceling was upscale feeling. But mix that with bad food and basic service with upscale pricing? A large party this night a few weeks ago, it took me some time to consider a post. I will just say I was the only one who got really sick, so I am pretty sure Blue Cheese or a sauce or dressing. I saw what everyone else ordered and it also was not a good feeling after the waitress was so tense and almost aggressive. I had to clean the whole hotel room and almost get an ambulance. Don't mix old stuff and yes Blue Cheese and Gorgonzola can go bad. No one was rude to the waitress, I always give waitresses big lead way to have a bad day. read more

We are here while on vacation. We had stopped here after a long day of driving and looking at majestic trees at Calaveras Big Trees State Park. My husband is from California and this was one of his favorite places to eat when he was young. It did not disappoint! Our server was a kind person. Our son is on the spectrum and likes to start hilarious conversations with no context. He opened up to the server by telling her that he didn't like how our rental car's mirrors folded in when the car is turned off. She told him that she would think that was weird too, which I thought was very sweet. The food was wow delicious! I got the guacamole bacon burger, my husband got the tri-tip dip sandwich, and the tiny human got their chicken strips. We also ordered the pocket bread and the jalapeño poppers. The pocket bread was ok, but the jalapeño poppers were OMG AWESOME! They are made completely from scratch including the breading. They are also tossed with the restaurants own spice blend. The burger and tri-tip and tenders all came with hand-cut fries (and TONS OF THEM) which made me happy because hand-cut fries are my current pregnancy craving. The chicken tenders were also made from scratch. Yum! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the bacon on my burger was undercooked but otherwise, the food was absolutely scrumptious and my husband was so happy that they are still around after all these years. read more

Sorry, the usual mediocrity. Great staff, it's always been the case and one of the reasons the place is still in business. The decor has always been a fail and as we entered, I wish I'd brought my sunglasses. The place is painted white, floor to ceiling, and and the 50 or so hi-hats we turned up to max. I asked one of the charming hostesses if someone had forgot to turn them down, she said it was always like that. I guess if I went here much more than every three years with parties I'd know. And now... the burgers. This place sells lots of burgers, big gloriously presented burgers. The servers ask how you'd like them cooked. My son and I said "Medium Rare". Burgers arrive, we cut them in half, FAIL. TOTALLY WELL DONE. This has been my experience before with their burgers and the TriTip Avocado Salad. I keep my fries and sent the burger back, my kid kept his. The server said they'd make him an extra to-go. After some time the replacement burgers showed up, I'd already made a comment that the grill cook was "blasting" them again. Sure enough, totally well done. Really disappointing. The server took 30% off the bill, gracious and appreciated. Anyways, same old crap. I've had an occasional decent meal here over the last couple decades, it just can't be counted on. Here is a picture of the replacement Bacon Guacamole Burger ordered "Medium Rare". My strong feeling is that a restaurant shouldn't ask how you want it cooked if they can't do it. Just because I'm on a rant, the soup was not hot and the side salad ordered was swimming in ranch. No photos needed, you know the drill. We enjoyed our food and service here. Stopped in for dinner after hitting the casino. Found this spot on Yelp as well as saw a very busy parking lot here on the way to the casino. I am glad we stopped in and would def try it again, because the food was good enough to peak my interest to try it again. We had a party of 4 and everyone's fries were extremely salty.. but everyone felt there sandwiches were good. I saw a few things on the menu I'd like to give a try so maybe I'll get the chance to update my review. read more

What happened this place use to be so good. Went there last night it was terrible.The jambalaya not good. It had slabs of dry chicken a lot of it, very few tiny pieces of andouille sausage and three shrimp. The burger was definitely a frozen patty with weird texture. The food is fresh, good salads, clam chowder, great garlic fries, variety of beers on tap. Very popular sports bar, complete with boisterous locals. It's loud. Wait staff is very friendly and professional. I'm always impressed when someone can take my order along with 3 or more others, get it right, and never write down a word, smiling and engaging the whole time. Not a place I would go for romantic, quiet conversation. Good is good. Price is reasonable for what you get. read more
