early morning departure from the motel before heading to dodge ridge for a ski session...willow wisp cafe open at 6am for breakfast...friendly local restaurant right off the 108 located in east sonora...convenient stop for breakfast for travelers...seated right away and menu provided...some children/senior menu options along with the regular classic favorites for adults...taking coffee for adults first at $3.75 each...endless refills and service is excellent...very quick to check and refill...one child took the 2 chocolate pancakes $7.95...other taking the 1 pancake, 1 meat and 1 egg special for $9.50...selecting bacon and scrambled egg...pancakes were fluffy and good...bacon was crispy and eggs scrambled nicely...no complaints from the children and gobbled it up...self taking the french toast meal $14.95 and taking scrambled eggs and bacon...bacon was immediately taken by my child and consumed...didn't even get a bite...must have been perfectly crispy...eggs were decent and french toast was perfectly fluffy and the right texture...good all around...other adult taking the basic meat & eggs meal $15.95 with wheat toast, cup of fruit, bacon and scrambled eggs...again, bacon perfectly crispy and eggs all cooked the same...fruit appeared fresh cut...toast was leaning towards burnt and that was the only major flaw in the breakfast....overall, a good breakfast for about $75 total after tax and tip for 2 adults and 2 children...great service and good food...

A local gem! We were in town for a wedding and even though we already had free breakfast at our hotel, hubby had to come and try based on the reviews! Service was great, all the waitresses were friendly and patient with us while we figured out what to order. Loved that they knew just about everyone who walked in the door. We shared the lamb rotisserie with eggs (added peppers & onions) and upgraded the side with biscuits and gravy. Wow! Lamb gyro and home fries were exploding with flavor! The tzatziki sauce was incredible, house-made for sure and full of fresh herbs! The place itself has lots of interesting decorations. Make sure you check out the Bigfoot story and footprint by the fireplace!

Brittany, where were you we I needed you today? They made my steak fries garlic... yuk and they put the sauce on my burger when I asked for it dry so my bun is all soggy and it made my red onion slimy.

We love this place! My dad was a regular there and he loved eating here so much. He told me about the Portuguese omelette so I had to try it. Now it's my must have breakfast ! The staff is so wonderful. They are sweet and attentive. You can't help but ogle all the plates as they go by... all the food looks amazing. I've been there on Sundays and it's a popular place but service is always amazing . The restaurant is in an old house and is very cozy and cute. I need to come back for lunch. I have heard amazing things about their burgers and specials.

    Biscuits & gravy

    1) biscuit & gravy meal was great and filling = 5 stars 2) service: Megan and everyone else will take care of you with a genuine smile = 5 stars 3) hometown cafe stop on your way to Columbia = 5 stars One of the best places we visited on our vacay in Sonora, CA.

    Greek omelette. So delicious!

Last night my bestfriend & I decided to meet up at the Peppery for dinner. I arrived first and went in to get a table for the two of us. I was waiting in the entry area behind the "Please Wait to be Seated" sign. As I waited another party arrived and was waiting beside me. One of the servers came over walked past me and asked them for how many and took them to be seated. Interesting for me seeing as I had been standing there for a few minutes before they entered the restaurant, while servers walked passed me & those near the bar area made eye contact and went back to their duties. Another couple then came into the restaurant and were waiting beside me to be seated, a different server emerged and started walking towards us, she then asked if I had already been helped and got me seated at a table and got menus & drinks while I waited for my friend to arrive. Once she arrived our server got her drink order and checked to see if we need anything while we look over the menu. We noticed they have an updated menu with all the same favorites. My friend ordered the Angel Hair Pasta w/ Italian Sausage with a cup of soup to start, and I ordered the Garlic Roasted Ribeye with Jalapeno Cheddar Mashed Potatoes & Seasonal Veggies with a house salad to start. The food was good not quite as good as I had anticipated. My friends pasta was over sauced, too much sauce for the amount of pasta. My steak had too much demi glaze on it; I did wipe most of it off and I will order it on the side next time. My steak was cooked slightly under what I requested but still good. We were so stuffed that we did not even want to look at the dessert menu. I probably will go back, but I will wait a bit before we return.

However, I Visited on Mother's Day with my daughter and sister and had a completely different experience. I have a gluten allergy, one daughter has gluten sensitivity, and my other daughter has celiac disease. We informed our waitress that we needed gluten-free options and were told they were out of gluten-free buns but had gluten-free sourdough. After double-checking, the chef confirmed it was gluten-free. Something didn't seem right, so we asked to see the packaging. Wheat was listed as an ingredient. Thankfully, we caught the mistake before eating it. Unfortunately, when our food arrived, two of the gluten-free meals were still served with gluten-containing items, including a flour tortilla and the same bread we'd already identified as not gluten-free. The food itself was actually delicious, and I wish I could leave a more positive review based on that alone. However, for anyone with celiac disease, a gluten allergy, or a serious gluten sensitivity, accurate ingredient information is not optional--it's a health and safety issue. The repeated errors from both the kitchen and serving staff were extremely disappointing and left me with little confidence in their ability to safely accommodate gluten-free guests.

The owners were born and raised in the Sonora area, and their undeniable passion for serving fantastic food to the local community - is evident. Both the owners and the staff genuinely care about cultivating a warm and accessible vibe at Kobe Japanese Steakhouse. Kobe Japanese Steakhouse has an extensive menu - serving everything from quality steaks, to hibachi, to specialty sushi rolls, to fried rice, to noodle dishes and more. For their hibachi options you can choose from steak, to salmon, to chicken, to shrimp, to lobster, and more. All look (and I'm sure taste - as well) delicious. One particularly photogenic standout from their specialty sushi menu - was their Lobster King Roll, which is comprised of lobster tempura inside lobster salad and tobiko on top. Swoon. When we were here, we sampled an array of sushi rolls and hibachi options and all were exceptionally flavorful. If you have dietary issues or concerns - be sure to let the staff know. The staff are attentive and they seem eager to assist customers navigate the menu accordingly. Kobe Japanese Steakhouse isn't cheap, but you can tell by the quality of their food - that you're paying for well crafted dishes that have been made with intention.
