early morning departure from the motel before heading to dodge ridge for a ski session...willow wisp cafe open at 6am for breakfast...friendly local restaurant right off the 108 located in east sonora...convenient stop for breakfast for travelers...seated right away and menu provided...some children/senior menu options along with the regular classic favorites for adults...taking coffee for adults first at $3.75 each...endless refills and service is excellent...very quick to check and refill...one child took the 2 chocolate pancakes $7.95...other taking the 1 pancake, 1 meat and 1 egg special for $9.50...selecting bacon and scrambled egg...pancakes were fluffy and good...bacon was crispy and eggs scrambled nicely...no complaints from the children and gobbled it up...self taking the french toast meal $14.95 and taking scrambled eggs and bacon...bacon was immediately taken by my child and consumed...didn't even get a bite...must have been perfectly crispy...eggs were decent and french toast was perfectly fluffy and the right texture...good all around...other adult taking the basic meat & eggs meal $15.95 with wheat toast, cup of fruit, bacon and scrambled eggs...again, bacon perfectly crispy and eggs all cooked the same...fruit appeared fresh cut...toast was leaning towards burnt and that was the only major flaw in the breakfast....overall, a good breakfast for about $75 total after tax and tip for 2 adults and 2 children...great service and good food...

Country fried steak , they forgot my gravy
Kristina W.

Ordered from here a couple times the food is always good but the small issue is... they always forget something from either a whole meal to gravy completely missing off my country fried steak and biscuits and gravy, which makes no sense to me whatsoever. I can understand being busy but just maybe slow down a little bit so everyone gets Exactly what they ordered and paid for. Our order was for take out

Local small business tucked away in the cute town of Sonora CA! When you pass by this local restaurant the parking lot always has cars in it, so long as they are open. Cute decor inside that depicts their Mediterranean style. The service is impeccable! My glass was never less than half full before a waitress arrived to fill it again without my needing to ask for it. The food portions are extremely generous! I had the biscuits and gravy with two eggs, two sausage links and hash browns. The biscuits are homemade and a definite must try. The gravy is not homemade. It was not bad but would have been better if it were homemade. My date had three egg all meat Omlette with hash browns and a fresh homemade biscuit. We both really liked our good and were astonished at the large portions. We drank water and with our tip it was about $46. Not cheap but hey nothing is nowadays! There is a handicap parking right next to the entrance to the restaurant. This is helpful if that is something you need. Lots of parking available in a private lot. This was a very delicious small local business, please support them and give them a try! #SupportLocal l Check out my photos too!

A local gem! We were in town for a wedding and even though we already had free breakfast at our hotel, hubby had to come and try based on the reviews! Service was great, all the waitresses were friendly and patient with us while we figured out what to order. Loved that they knew just about everyone who walked in the door. We shared the lamb rotisserie with eggs (added peppers & onions) and upgraded the side with biscuits and gravy. Wow! Lamb gyro and home fries were exploding with flavor! The tzatziki sauce was incredible, house-made for sure and full of fresh herbs! The place itself has lots of interesting decorations. Make sure you check out the Bigfoot story and footprint by the fireplace!

Brittany, where were you we I needed you today? They made my steak fries garlic... yuk and they put the sauce on my burger when I asked for it dry so my bun is all soggy and it made my red onion slimy.

Portuguese omelette

We love this place! My dad was a regular there and he loved eating here so much. He told me about the Portuguese omelette so I had to try it. Now it's my must have breakfast ! The staff is so wonderful. They are sweet and attentive. You can't help but ogle all the plates as they go by... all the food looks amazing. I've been there on Sundays and it's a popular place but service is always amazing . The restaurant is in an old house and is very cozy and cute. I need to come back for lunch. I have heard amazing things about their burgers and specials.

Greek omelette. So delicious!

We often order multiple orders of their gyro meat à la carte to go. We use it to make many of our future meals that week (well...if it lasts that long...we often devour it as soon as we're back home). I feel abundantly blessed that Yianni's opened up in the Sonora area. The place is brimming with charm and good vibes. They offer regular specials, and their standard menu is full of flavorful options. No matter your dietary needs or preferences - they got you. We dined in here recently and the staff couldn't have been more attentive and friendly. If you want quality Greek food made with well-chosen ingredients and served with genuine smiles - Yianni's is the spot. Trust.

Service was very friendly, attentive and not pushy. We tried the spanakopita and the flaming cheese for appetizers. I always love spanakopita, but had never tried the cheese before. The best part? The server squeezed a lemon over to extinguish the flame. Crispy, flavorful and gooey on the inside-what a treat! I ordered the chicken souvlaki plate with a side of green beans. While the chicken and pita were delicious, the green beans stole the show for me. Cooked in a tomato broth with Greek seasoning and simmered with potatoes and carrots, these beans were next level. I'd go back again just for this side (and of course the spanakopita). There's so much more of the menu to explore. I can't wait to come back and try something new!

After exploring Downtown Sonora…read moreand discovering it wasn't quite what we hoped for, I was relieved we'd chosen a restaurant farther away. The building itself is lovely, set in the historic Pickering Lumber office built in 1924. Since it was a weekday, the atmosphere was calm and there were plenty of seats available. Everything we tried was delicious. My daughter, who is obsessed with bacon-wrapped dates, spotted them on the specials menu and insisted we order them. Thankfully, they didn't disappoint--the sweet dates were wrapped in perfectly crisp, salty bacon. I wondered if there was an extra ingredient inside the dates, or if their sweetness was all natural--either way, they were outstanding! My man and his daughter split a burger and fries, which they both enjoyed. Planning to share with my own daughter, I asked the server how many toasts came with the avocado toast. She replied, "One." Expecting a small portion, I also ordered a beet salad with goat cheese, tomatoes, and pistachios - so flavorful! When my daughter's avocado toast arrived, it was so large it had to be cut in half. The toast was generously topped with avocado slices and various drizzles, making it look almost extravagant. She couldn't finish it but said it was tasty. I was too full from my salad to sample it myself. Overall, the dishes were great, and the place was nice for lunch. The service was prompt. I have no complaints.

Hot crunchy falafel with tazikki, cucumber onion on a fresh pita. Potatoe salad had a curry flavor and a heavy coating of paprika, really good. We came early (5:30 on a Friday) and it was quiet at first. The wine list still had some gaps, but we found a Val Du Vino GSM we enjoy. The flaming cheese appetizer was delicious, though they didn't give us enough of a heads-up before lighting it--would've loved a chance to catch the moment. Still, it's a fun and tasty start with pita. Service felt a bit rushed early on, with multiple prompts to order entrées before our app even arrived, so we slowed things down ourselves. We split a gyro salad next, which was large and very good--honestly could've been enough with the appetizer. The chicken marsala lived up to the hype with a great sauce, but the sides (green beans and rice pilaf) were underwhelming. The beans were too sweet for me, and the pilaf lacked flavor--plain basmati rice would've been better to soak up the sauce. Overall, a good meal and a much better experience. We'll be back sooner next time.
