It's been nearly two years since our last visit, and I'm bumping this up to a solid 4 stars. The meal and service weren't perfect, but a big improvement overall. We came early (5:30 on a Friday) and it was quiet at first. The wine list still had some gaps, but we found a Val Du Vino GSM we enjoy. The flaming cheese appetizer was delicious, though they didn't give us enough of a heads-up before lighting it--would've loved a chance to catch the moment. Still, it's a fun and tasty start with pita. Service felt a bit rushed early on, with multiple prompts to order entrées before our app even arrived, so we slowed things down ourselves. We split a gyro salad next, which was large and very good--honestly could've been enough with the appetizer. The chicken marsala lived up to the hype with a great sauce, but the sides (green beans and rice pilaf) were underwhelming. The beans were too sweet for me, and the pilaf lacked flavor--plain basmati rice would've been better to soak up the sauce. Overall, a good meal and a much better experience. One of the best meals I've had in a while. Starter salad with balsamic vinegar dressing cucumber, onion, carrots. Chicken Marsala, tender chicken breast, mushroom sauce to die for,rich and satisfying. Wild rice and some al dente green beans made for an excellent combination . Fresh toasted Pita bread served to the table, so you didn't waste any of the sauce. Mrs D had the Pita Falafel with house made potato salad. Hot crunchy falafel with tazikki, cucumber onion on a fresh pita. Potatoe salad had a curry flavor and a heavy coating of paprika, really good. This was our first time in this restaurant. I ordered the Masaka, because it's one of my favorite dish however, the way that menu explains it is not what actually came. It indicated there was eggplant. There was a lot of hamburger meat, cheese, and potato but no eggplant. I brought it to the attention of the waitress and she told me that it was because I probably got the end of what was in the pan. I asked to see the supervisor and she told me she was not in I said what about the owner? She said she's not in either. I told her I feel I should get a discount because this is not what is on the menu. She finally said she would try to reach the owner via telephone. Which she did, I explained to the owner that I had ordered the moussaka, but it was not what is on the menu. I have had moussaka all over California and this was not what was indicated on the menu. It was very disappointed. I was not looking for a free handout. But they could've made some adjustment somewhere. She did not at all. The owner was very adamant of the fact that she made it and there was eggplant in it. We took it apart, and there was no eggplant. It was a terrible experience for the first time being there. Will never return to give her our business. Just a heads up. when you order, make sure that you're getting what is indicated on the menu. At the age of 80 years old, I have traveled extensively and eaten in many restaurants in the United States and other countries and never encountered an owner as rude as the owner of this restaurant. The food is very good! The service is terrible. We were chastised by the waitress for being late for our reservation when we were right on time. As the reservation clerk made the error, not us. She also brought our entrees before removing the empty salad plates. We had to move our dishes around to accommodate. For these prices we shouldn't have had to do that. Sadly, this part took away from the good food experience. I live locally and am disinclined to return to this restaurant anytime soon. read more

June 13, 2026 Ordered chicken marsala ($26) - chicken was thin and tough, bland sauce lacked usual marsala wine flavor, and blackend salmon salad ($23) - salmon looked tastily grilled, but also lacked taste and probably was not seasoned well or marinated. With the marsala order, option for soup or salad is offered. I asked for soup. Waitress brought a small salad and placed in middle of table without a word. My partner thought this was part of their salmon salad. After she started eating it, and sharing it with me, we asked if the salmon was coming too. Waitress said this was my salad with the chicken. I mentioned that I asked for the soup which she had confirmed twice. She left and returned, offered that she had made a mistake after even checking the paper order for our table. When I asked for the soup, she said since we had started eating the salad, she would have to charge $5 for the teeny small bowl of soup I had seen other tables received, and I declined. I was going to ask to speak to the manager or head waitress but my partner motioned to me that not to escalate this. In retrospect, I should have said something as customer service was clearly not demonstrated and surely the salad, eaten or not, would have normally been discarded, cost of the small salad could not have been more than $1 and the waitress did admit it was her mistake. I'm not usually one to complain and didn't at the time, but several issues were evident so I have to report it here or the owner will never know. Trader Joes chicken marsala tastes better and is more tender! read more

This was the first place I ate in the city of Arnold and my family and I loved it! I picked up take out from here and ordered the Gyro Plate, Gyro Salad, Mediterranean Chicken Pasta and Chicken Chopped Salad with sides of pita bread and lemon chicken soup. Everything was so fresh and delicious! I can't stop thinking about the Chicken Chopped Salad and the pita bread. It is definitely the best pita bread we've had! We even saw the chef making the pita bread when we arrived to the restaurant. The staff was so friendly on the phone and in person! The restaurant had a very nice vibe and looks like a great date night and family dinner spot! Can't wait to go back to Arnold just to stop here again! read more

In my opinion I think the service could've been a little better, our waiter didn't smile at us one time and seemed miserable being there on a Saturday night. I really wanted to love this place especially since I was really looking forward to Greek food. But my chicken kebab was really dry. A dollop of tzaziki sauce would have saved it. I'm really happy we have this restaurant in Arnold. Different than the usual bar food, burgers or Mexican food. The food was fresh & well seasoned. You can see the chefs preparing meals. Entrees are served with soup or salad (most restaurants don't include sides without an extra cost) The salad was so delicious! A healthy sized salad it was that was made with fresh mixed greens & a very tasty homemade vinaigrette. The food, service, ambience & staff were all 5 star excellent. The menu is surprisingly very extensive: appetizers, salads, wraps, pasta & entree's. Vegan options were a plus. Wine selection with local wines was great too. Something for everyone, even kids. Ate tonight at Kalamata. I had been wanting to go for a while. The restaurant was inviting and the service friendly. They have a large menu. The restaurant, along with sister restaurant House of Pita, has some of the freshest and best salads in town. We tried the spanakopita and it was good, and the pita bread is delicious. One of our party enjoyed the Avgolemono, or Greek lemon soup. The chicken Marsala is very good. The Mousakka was less successful. It was dry and there was not enough sauce. The layers were hard to detect. The pork medallions were ok. It was a nice restaurant and, you can find something for everyone to like on their menu. I would give it another try. read more

Food was great, actually we were pleasantly surprised. This was our first visit to a relatively new restaurant in Arnold. The service was excellent since we were the only ones there at 3:15 in the afternoon. Other restaurants close between 2 to 5 PM this is a great option to driving down to Murphy where it's quite busy and parking is difficult. Nice to see new cuisine in Arnold, but Kalamata proved to be a disappointment. They clearly have ambitions to be an upscale place - with prices to match - but the food just doesn't keep up. The gyro meat was pre-packaged strips. You know, the kind that are just some spiced meat slurry that are molded into strips, cooked, and vacuum packed. If we were getting fast food, that'd be fine. But at $27, this is one of the most expensive gyro plates I've ever had. The salad was nice and fresh, but the dressing was quite vinegary. The tortellini was overcooked. The chicken kabob was the best thing we had, but that said, it wasn't particularly interesting. Maybe the $40-60 items are amazing. But we're never going to try them if they can't do the basics. read more

We like going here over another place nearby. Food is delicious and there's space to breathe. Recommend reservations. Usually order chicken Marsala or any of the pasta dishes. We rolled in on Sunday of President's Day weekend. The place was packed so we were able to get 4 spots at the counter. Our server was excellent. The next thing we knew we had a great bottle wine, soups and salads. We had the lambs chops, pork medallions, gyros plater & chicken kabob. Every one of us had a wonderful meal. Very nice place inside with white table cloths and seating for 36. There is a bar that overlooks the kitchen. I think they have been in business about 6 months. The food was excellent! We had prawns for appetizer with salmon salads and chicken Marcella. The chicken medallions were very tender and the sauce was fabulous. The service the entire dinner was excellent and there were no issues. I highly recommend them for a nice dinner. Not many places in downtown Arnold on that level. read more

We like to sit at the bar to watch all the action and chat with the staff. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. I absolutely love greek food, our favorite restaurant in the bay closed down and it has been hard to find a good replacement. We wanted to try the lemon chicken soup (I make this regularly at home and wanted to compare) it was extremely salty and was mostly broth hardly any chicken or rice. Would not order again. My husband had the Gyro Salad and the meat was so tender and full of flavor, his dressing was a bit overpowering but he enjoyed it just the same. I ordered the chicken pita wrap which was absolutely amazing so much flavor and filled with chicken. The pita was so fluffy and easy to eat. We will be back for sure read more

We are frequent visitors to Arnold and were happy to see a new restaurant in town. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon to order lunch and were so glad we did. The hostess was gracious and kind, and gave us several options for our 10 year old as well. The ambiance was lovely and the food was excellent- very flavorful, with fresh ingredients.
