    Lavender Bee

First time dining here on Mother's Day, and it was a unique and cute little gem. Also next to an antique store with all type of cool things. I ordered the Mother's Day special, orange , which is one my favorite fish and a difficult dish to find and it was OK. They came with hollandaise sauce, which was actually pretty good with the fish. Could've been seasoned just a tad bit more- the mashed potatoes and asparagus were well seasoned. My daughter wanted the short ribs, but unfortunately, they were sold out so the second option was the chicken pasta and she added prawns, came with like a pesto, alfeedo sauce, and it was actually pretty good. We both shared our dishes. The calamari we ordered as an appetizer was so yummy that we ordered a second. It was thick and the batter was a perfect crispy! We ordered the cheeseburger and fries for my grandson, and it was overcooked. He's 4 & didn't eat it (him and my granddaughter, she's 1, loved the calamari too) but he definitely knows good food so if you order the kids cheeseburger, just ask them to cook medium or medium well. Other than that, everything else was just spectacular. They have lovely, specialty drinks as well. I asked the waitress her favorite & she recommended the lavender bee, it was splendid.

Tucked into the historic town of Jackson is this very pleasant and old time experience. Well run, very efficient and good quality it's a great place for a sandwich, salad, burger, pizza or even a more substantial entree. They also have a good drink menu. There's nothing terribly unique, just a good solid meal at not a bad price point. I came here for a later lunch and the vibe was good. A number of patrons were present on a weekday, albeit the start of the Easter weekend. It is a tourist town in California's gold mining region. Service was top notch. Friendly, accommodating and very efficient. The experience was really nice. I ordered the Spicy Crispy Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries for an upcharge. That, along with an iced tea. The sandwich was very good, but in so many instances I find that the sandwich falls apart quickly with the amount of items on it, and in this case the thickness of the chicken pieces. I find I need to woof down the sandwich to prevent the bun from falling into pieces, with everything falling out and on to the plate. Certainly not unique to this restaurant. Part of it is the moisture from aoili and other wet ingredients. Nonetheless, all the ingredients were fresh, the chicken delicious, and all the flavors tasty with a really nice kick of spiciness. The sweet potato fries were good, although ordinary, and a bit inconsistent in size and extent cooked. Some were overcooked and others undercooked. The person next to me with the same order of fries looked much more consistent. Overall, a very good meal with only a couple of not too consistent blips. I would definitely return to try a salad or entree.

Went there last Saturday and it was a nice little spot to enjoy our Saturdate after a movie.

Haven't been in Jackson for a long time. Stopped in at Luka's for lunch. It's a smaller place with a nice bar and about 12 or so tables. It's decorated very nicely and it was fairly crowded today. We were seated very quickly and were quickly greeted by our waitress Cynthia. The menu fairly extensive with apps, salads entrees etc. it's not cheap but it's not outrageous either. My wife ordered the Bison Burger and I had the Steak Sandwich. The portions are very generous and the food is absolutely yummy. Every dish that was walked past us spaghetti and meatballs, salads, etc looked amazing. Cynthia provided wonderful service. Very attentive and friendly. 5 Stars +

Guava Martini and a Spicy Cucumber Margarita

Beautiful little restaurant in the heart of downtown Jackson. The ambiance was nice with the exposed brick. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated right away. Our server was quick to greet us and take our drink order. My husband ordered a spicy cucumber margarita and I had the Guava Martini. Both were delicious. We ordered a cup of the spicy sausage clam chowder and the strawberry feta salad to share. The soup was amazing! Just spicy and thick enough. The salad was rather bland with the balsamic dressing so we asked for some blue cheese dressing - that's a no lol. It was like creamy mayonnaise with some blue cheese thrown in. The lunch filled us up but wasn't the greatest. Not sure if we would go back.

Every time we come here we are just so impressed! Starting with the cocktails ... we ordered the mule and the prosecco ...perfectly mixed... next up was the Cajun clam chowder - it was the perfect blend of creaminess and spice...I ordered the house salad with salmon and hubby ordered the Tuscan shrimp ... creamy.... bacony ... all the things and absolutely scrumptious can't wait to come back!!

Food were excellent! Hearing Sea bass as Chef's special, we got to try it! Impressive as it was personally brought out by Chef Abe and elaborating on its intricacies, we just fell in love with it! Fish was fresh and tasty, it's skin was cooked crispy. The polenta was prepared with squash, corn, tomatoes, bell peppers and greens - not overwhelming creamy. Seafood linguini was different than I expected. It was not creamy. It had some clear soup that looked lemony or juice from the seafood themselves. It was tasty too. We also got the crispy chicken sandwich as it looked good from another table, thinking I will bring it home to my husband and it didn't get boxed without me trying it first. The name says it - crispy with the right tone of spicy. I had to say the entrees are portioned right for 100-and-quarter pounders like me. I had exercised sharing food with my friend so we get to taste both. The garlic fries - I never look away from fries showered with garlic and parsley, and even better when it's crunchy. What I liked most was the touch of the chef serving his dinner special himself to his guests. I don't see that often anymore. That created the ambiance that chef gets in touch with his guests, he even introduced his souls chef to us. Interesting to see who is actually cooking your food, and when they are wonderful, you appreciate the person who did your wonderful meal. Good job, you guys!

*First time review* Came to Luka's on a random Tuesday at 3pm. Not much is open Mondays and Tuesdays in downtown Jackson. Was pleasantly surprised to see Luka's open! My mom has been here before but I haven't. We decided to come here for some tea and have a light snack. First impressions, love the decor, bar area, nice hardwood floor and fireplace! It was a stormy day so I enjoyed the fireplace. The menu looked pretty awesome. I wanted something light so I got the burrata appetizer. I really just wanted burrata, tomatoes and the bread. The waitress asked the chef if he could do that for me instead of the mushroom tomato sauce it normally comes with. He said yes! I really enjoyed my burrata. My mom got the appetizer wings and loved them. The service was great too! Can't wait to come back soon

A Pleasant Surprise with a Small-Town Feel…read more This one caught me off guard--in a good way. I was out with my family practicing for my daughter's driving test at the DMV up the street. We pulled up Yelp to find a good lunch spot, saw the solid reviews, and decided to give it a try. When we walked in, the atmosphere had that small-town vibe--simple, welcoming, and comfortable. The food was very good. The service wasn't polished like a Michelin star restaurant, but it didn't need to be. It was authentic and heartfelt, and sometimes that matters more. You could tell the staff cared about what they were doing. The place was busy, especially for the time of day we went, which tells you something. People come here on purpose. That says a lot. We were seated quickly, our order was taken without any issues, and the food came out in a reasonable time. When it hit the table, the portions were generous and satisfying. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was too busy enjoying the moment. If you go, post your photos--I'm sure the business would appreciate it. If you've followed my reviews, you know I don't give out 4 stars often, and 5 stars are rare. This place earned that extra star because of how it made me feel--between the food, the atmosphere, and the service, it just worked. If I'm ever back in the area, I'm definitely coming back for another meal.

The large pitcher which they serve from has big ripe strawberries. What a refreshing treat instead of plain or lemon water. I couldn't get enough of the croutons, dressing, and garbanzo beans with the fresh, crisp salad! I was stranded, hungry, gut gnawing itself in some Dantean ring of small-town purgatory, when out of the fluorescent chaos of a Raley's supermarket, a Gen Z angel with Wi-Fi wings took pity on me. Her phone pulsed like the North Star and she pointed me down to salvation: Teresa's Place. By God, I arrived. The sun was bleeding out across the horizon, Main Street slipping into shadow, and there it was: a glowing sign like a neon Eucharist. Parking lot across the street. The doorway pulled me in like a vacuum cleaner from 1952. Inside: dim red tones, white lights surgical and holy, Brooklyn noir under an Amador County sky. Louie's Restaurant vibes--but Sollozzo ain't getting shot here, sweetheart. No: this is Jackson. This is love. The service? Think grandma with a cigarette in one hand and a stopwatch in the other--warm but brisk, like they've been running this joint since Prohibition and ain't about to let you slow them down. The Chianti comes in buckets. Jaegermeister on the dessert menu--yes, they're serious, yes, you're taking the shot, yes, Jesus himself approves. Now, the food. THE FOOD. It comes in cathedral portions, a medieval banquet dropped in your lap. My chicken parm? Christ Almighty, it was Everest under a landslide of marinara, parsley fresh as a spring fling, pasta al dente enough to play a banjo tune. Before that came minestrone, a salad with Thousand Island like some glorious church picnic of yesteryear, croutons snapping like gunfire. Bread and butter so fresh you want to slap someone. Then dessert: WALNUT PIE. Who makes walnut pie? Teresa's does. Whipped cream piled like the Alps. I licked the plate like a lunatic. Let's be clear: this is no bland Chili's with soul vacuum décor. This is a time machine, a love letter, a belly hug from the Old Country. Cozy, romantic, small-town crickets outside and Sinatra crooning in your bloodstream. And the kicker? The wall of dollars. A shrine of American greenbacks pinned with a tiny Italian flag, Grandma Teresa watching from the photo frame like a saint with marinara rosary beads. Each bill matched, money funneled to five local charities. You eat, you drink, you laugh, you sin, and you walk away knowing your gluttony just saved the world--or at least a piece of Amador County. Five out of five, no hesitation, no irony. Teresa's Place is the real deal, a mad holy Italian fever dream in a town you didn't even know existed. If North Beach has the flash, Jackson has the soul.
