Love Luka's my burger was excellent, cooked perfectly and the fries were crisp and tasty. The server was excellent. Get a window seat and watch small town life. read more

While walking around the cute little downtown of Jackson, we worked up a thirst and decided to hit up Luka's for a drink and light bite. We sat at the bar and received a friendly greeting from the bartender. I decided to try something out of my box and had the spicy cucumber margarita which I really enjoyed. For our light bites, we had the Bavarian Pretzel with the smoked Gouda cheese and it was truly gooda!! The pretzel was soft and chewy the way a pretzel ought to be and the cheese was yummy. We also had a cup of clam chowder and I thought it was so good! Kind of unexpected for a small restaurant in the foothills but it was cooked nice and thick with the right amount of clams. People next to us had this amazing looking gigantic cheeseburger that made me wish I was hungrier! I would definitely recommend! read more

On Thursday just before 3pm, we wandered into Luka's. Upon walking in, we were hit by the most delicious wonderful mouth watering cooking smells, from which you could tell there were lots of good things going on in the kitchen. We were immediately greeted by a friendly bartender, who was laughing with a few patrons. We were seated right away in the dining room, a clean low key room filled with 2 and 4 tops. Did I mention the restaurant smelled incredible. I asked the server about it and she told us the prime rib was just coming out and that 3 pm is the very best time to eat at Luka's. We got the prime rib, very generous 12 oz and they were cooked perfectly. Served with au jus and horseradish, a scoop of potatoes, and the tastiest zucchini. I kept popping them into my mouth, marveling at the char and such skill to make a simple veg come out so good. What a top notch meal. 100% recommend and would return. read more

First time we've been to Lukas just a wonderful experience. The food was just amazing.. very pleasant experience. We will definitely be back so nice. I'm telling you those were the best sweet potato fries I've ever had and I'm older.. There were three of us and everybody enjoyed their choice. Really the only thing that was missing was cloth napkins but I imagine they do that for dinner. It's just a beautiful environment.. They have a bar on one side, but you wouldn't even know it. Everything's just so nicely done. read more

Tucked into the historic town of Jackson is this very pleasant and old time experience. Well run, very efficient and good quality it's a great place for a sandwich, salad, burger, pizza or even a more substantial entree. They also have a good drink menu. There's nothing terribly unique, just a good solid meal at not a bad price point. I came here for a later lunch and the vibe was good. A number of patrons were present on a weekday, albeit the start of the Easter weekend. It is a tourist town in California's gold mining region. Service was top notch. Friendly, accommodating and very efficient. The experience was really nice. I ordered the Spicy Crispy Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries for an upcharge. That, along with an iced tea. The sandwich was very good, but in so many instances I find that the sandwich falls apart quickly with the amount of items on it, and in this case the thickness of the chicken pieces. I find I need to woof down the sandwich to prevent the bun from falling into pieces, with everything falling out and on to the plate. Certainly not unique to this restaurant. Part of it is the moisture from aoili and other wet ingredients. Nonetheless, all the ingredients were fresh, the chicken delicious, and all the flavors tasty with a really nice kick of spiciness. The sweet potato fries were good, although ordinary, and a bit inconsistent in size and extent cooked. Some were overcooked and others undercooked. The person next to me with the same order of fries looked much more consistent. Overall, a very good meal with only a couple of not too consistent blips. I would definitely return to try a salad or entree. read more

I went to Lukas this last Sunday and was totally shocked. I had the Western Burger at $23, it was just so so, nothing like their burgers use to be, seemed lukewarm and seemed like it was sitting around and didn't seem fresh. We decided on dessert and the waitress just verbally said what they had, no menu with prices..I ordered the blueberry cobbler, came with ice cream. I have to say it wasn't what I expected either, very small dish portion, cost $16.. I just couldn't believe they charged that much! Outrageous! Not going back at those prices! read more

Zero ambience , feels like a bar that has room for tables but only good at bar food . I got a shrimp salad that so so over soaked with dressing it was mostly inedible . When i said it to the waistress she said yeah i noticex that ,, well then fis it , before serving it ! Then she said ill tell the chef and came back with the chef said next time tell us ? Huh ? You all knew you put out a over priced crappy meal , and thats how you handle it ? Do not eat here , not worth the lofty pricing , they could of least threw in the 9 buck glass of wine . Oh and during the middle of our not good meal , the managment decided to loudly discuss the leak in the walls coming from the sewer pipe!! Dp your diners need to hear that ? I mean 70 bucks later ,,,,, nauseus from food and pissed off ,, there will be no next time. read more

We were really looking forward to returning to Luca's after such a great first visit. The food and service were outstanding (we sat in the bar). We couldn't wait to come back on our next trip to Amador County. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to that first experience. We sat in the bar again, but our bartender/server (male server needs to put a hair net on his chin) seemed disinterested and not very engaging, even a bit put off to have customers. It made the experience feel much less welcoming. Including from the hostess. The food was still good, but the service really missed the mark this time. Hopefully it was just an off night, because our first visit was great. Great food and great service makes the experience so much better. read more

Haven't been in Jackson for a long time. Stopped in at Luka's for lunch. It's a smaller place with a nice bar and about 12 or so tables. It's decorated very nicely and it was fairly crowded today. We were seated very quickly and were quickly greeted by our waitress Cynthia. The menu fairly extensive with apps, salads entrees etc. it's not cheap but it's not outrageous either. My wife ordered the Bison Burger and I had the Steak Sandwich. The portions are very generous and the food is absolutely yummy. Every dish that was walked past us spaghetti and meatballs, salads, etc looked amazing. Cynthia provided wonderful service. Very attentive and friendly. 5 Stars + read more

First time dining here on Mother's Day, and it was a unique and cute little gem. Also next to an antique store with all type of cool things. I ordered the Mother's Day special, orange , which is one my favorite fish and a difficult dish to find and it was OK. They came with hollandaise sauce, which was actually pretty good with the fish. Could've been seasoned just a tad bit more- the mashed potatoes and asparagus were well seasoned. My daughter wanted the short ribs, but unfortunately, they were sold out so the second option was the chicken pasta and she added prawns, came with like a pesto, alfeedo sauce, and it was actually pretty good. We both shared our dishes. The calamari we ordered as an appetizer was so yummy that we ordered a second. It was thick and the batter was a perfect crispy! We ordered the cheeseburger and fries for my grandson, and it was overcooked. He's 4 & didn't eat it (him and my granddaughter, she's 1, loved the calamari too) but he definitely knows good food so if you order the kids cheeseburger, just ask them to cook medium or medium well. Other than that, everything else was just spectacular. They have lovely, specialty drinks as well. I asked the waitress her favorite & she recommended the lavender bee, it was splendid. read more

Charming place with very friendly staff. The spaghetti and meatballs was very satisfying. The sauce had mushrooms and fresh basil and the meatballs were huge! The exposed brick walls were beautiful as was the bar. read more

Where do I start with this spaghetti of theirs. It is THEE BEST SPAGHETTI IVE EVER HAD! I've come back here twice to have it. I had to let the kitchen staff know that it is stellar! I'm from LA, recently moved to Modesto, and driving out to Jackson for spaghetti is worth every single second of the drive. The meatballs are so hearty and delicious! It does not taste like it's filled with bread crumbs at all. The noodles are made to perfection. The sauce is heavenly. The toasted garlic bread on the side is crispy. All of it together is beyond orga$mic. The boys in the back are number 1 in my book. I will be back for those meatballs! PS: the fries with ranch were like crack. I could not stop eating it. So good!!! Bartender (I think her name was Macy) was super sweet as well. You're all wonderful. See you soon! read more

It was my first time Here 6/14/26 This place is awesome Loved the food, the waitress. Thank you

Lunch today was very disappointing. We have eaten here before but the meals were terrible. I understand it is a new menu. My calamari sandwich was tasteless and dry ($21) my wife had the strawberry feta sandwich ($21). The salad consisted of spinach and a couple thinly sliced strawberries. Bread was $5. Worst of all a very thin sliced cheese cake was $16. I did not realize it was that expensive. Can you imagine that. The only saving grace was the server Elizabeth who did a nice job. Never again in Jackson. read more

Food were excellent! Hearing Sea bass as Chef's special, we got to try it! Impressive as it was personally brought out by Chef Abe and elaborating on its intricacies, we just fell in love with it! Fish was fresh and tasty, it's skin was cooked crispy. The polenta was prepared with squash, corn, tomatoes, bell peppers and greens - not overwhelming creamy. Seafood linguini was different than I expected. It was not creamy. It had some clear soup that looked lemony or juice from the seafood themselves. It was tasty too. We also got the crispy chicken sandwich as it looked good from another table, thinking I will bring it home to my husband and it didn't get boxed without me trying it first. The name says it - crispy with the right tone of spicy. I had to say the entrees are portioned right for 100-and-quarter pounders like me. I had exercised sharing food with my friend so we get to taste both. The garlic fries - I never look away from fries showered with garlic and parsley, and even better when it's crunchy. What I liked most was the touch of the chef serving his dinner special himself to his guests. I don't see that often anymore. That created the ambiance that chef gets in touch with his guests, he even introduced his souls chef to us. Interesting to see who is actually cooking your food, and when they are wonderful, you appreciate the person who did your wonderful meal. Good job, you guys! read more

Beautiful little restaurant in the heart of downtown Jackson. The ambiance was nice with the exposed brick. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated right away. Our server was quick to greet us and take our drink order. My husband ordered a spicy cucumber margarita and I had the Guava Martini. Both were delicious. We ordered a cup of the spicy sausage clam chowder and the strawberry feta salad to share. The soup was amazing! Just spicy and thick enough. The salad was rather bland with the balsamic dressing so we asked for some blue cheese dressing - that's a no lol. It was like creamy mayonnaise with some blue cheese thrown in. The lunch filled us up but wasn't the greatest. Not sure if we would go back. read more

Lovely atmosphere, wonderful service, and the best Brussel sprouts I've ever had! 10/10 #Atmosphere #Service #Food

We used to love this place, but our last experience was not good. We wanted to split the steak sandwich, but they charge $5 for a split meal, so I decided to order a cup of the soup of the day for $6 and we'd just share one plate. The sandwich was cut in half, and the steak was so tough on one half it was inedible. The steak on the other half was better, but not by much. The fries were fine. The soup was black bean; it looked a bit like something out of the sewer, and I suppose that can't be helped...but it had no flavor other than lots of pepper. We told the waitress that the $25 steak sandwich (!) was too tough to eat. She offered an apology, but no compensation. Too bad. Downtown Jackson is congested and there is no place to park, it was overall a disappointing meal. We will find another place to eat next time. read more

I had a wonderful dinner at Luka's last night. The braised short rib is delicious and comes on a bed of mashed potatoes that is equally tasty. It came with grilled Brussels sprouts that were divine. The butternut soup appetizer was incredible--it's the next day and I want to go back already just to have more! Their house-made chips are amazing, too. Our server, McKenzie, was very attentive and sweet, and she took great care of us. The atmosphere is elegant but casual, and it's located in what looks like an lively downtown in Jackson. *First time review* Came to Luka's on a random Tuesday at 3pm. Not much is open Mondays and Tuesdays in downtown Jackson. Was pleasantly surprised to see Luka's open! My mom has been here before but I haven't. We decided to come here for some tea and have a light snack. First impressions, love the decor, bar area, nice hardwood floor and fireplace! It was a stormy day so I enjoyed the fireplace. The menu looked pretty awesome. I wanted something light so I got the burrata appetizer. I really just wanted burrata, tomatoes and the bread. The waitress asked the chef if he could do that for me instead of the mushroom tomato sauce it normally comes with. He said yes! I really enjoyed my burrata. My mom got the appetizer wings and loved them. The service was great too! Can't wait to come back soon read more

I go to Luka's frequently. I had a VERY, VERY good New England Clam Chowder there yesterday! VERY GOOD! It was one of the daily specials. I brought home a bowl. I've had their Cajun Chowder numerous times. PLEASE offer the New England Clam Chowder more often! DO NOT CHANGE the recipe! It's great as it is! I'm never a fan of the big chunks of potato or how many there are. A perfect amount in the soup! Keep it the same! I will order it every time I'm in. At least a bowl to go! read more

Went there with my wife and we sat at a table in the bar. The bartender was our server and was very helpful and attentive. The chicken wing appetizer was cooked well and we enjoyed it. My wife had the fried chicken which was crispy and juicy. I ordered the Rib Eye, medium rare. My steak was gray in the middle, not pink. It was most definitely "off" when it was cooked. It took me a second bite to realize this steak was off, and should have never been sold. I should have known by the seafood smell I got when we walked in. It also had an "off" smell. Food doesn't move here enough to get a fresh meal. Your getting product that has been sitting. This kitchen needs someone who has a higher level of standards. Our bill was $120, our tip was $20, and we won't be back. We're locals. read more

First time eating here, ordered our food to go. Only live 2 minutes from the restaurant so I thought it'd be a good idea to try. Extremely let down. I got the western burger it was good besides being SUPER oily not juicy but oily. The oily ness from the burger leaked out onto the fries so they weren't good at all. The pepperoni pizza was extremely awful tasted like it was straight out of a package from the store. The bottom of the pizza was pretty burnt and super crunchy/hard. Didn't experience much of the service since we ordered out. The ambiance was nice and relaxed it was clean inside. read more

Had dinner here on Saturday night at 7:30. I ordered a filet mignon and the waitress informed me that they were out of it and then I ordered a ribeye steak and they were also out of that. I ordered a burger and a few minutes later the waitress came back saying that they had one ribeye left. When they brought the plate out, it looked delicious, but almost half of that steak was nothing but fat it was really disappointing. And the side dishes weren't all that great either. Service was good, but I definitely will not be eating at this restaurant again. Pretty disappointed. We are pretty regular customers and normally do have reservations. However we walked in today, one table in the dining area was being utilized. We were asked if we had reservations. I said unfortunately no. So she sat us up in the front bar area. The waitress forgot we were there most of the time. When she remembered she made us feel like we were bothering her. She couldn't even properly explain what the special was. We felt like 2nd class citizens just because we didn't have reservations. Keep in mind I looked at the app to make reservations and there was open reservations all the way through closing. Be forewarned! DO NOT GO WITHOUT RESERVATIONS. The food was just as delicious as always. read more

Two ladies at the kitchen store down the street recommended this place, saying they had great food and good drinks. My husband enjoyed his bloody mary. We had the meat and cheese board which included gouda, Bleu cheese crumbles, salami, stone mustard, grilled flatbread and green olives. Everything tasted wonderful! We also ordered the combo pizza and it was delish. The dough tasted homemade and the toppings were quite tasty. This appears to be a whole in the wall spot but large enough inside to have a bar on one side and a restaurant on the other. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the people watching and dice game from the owner. Our bartender/waitress was awesome. We will def be back to this place when it's not raining outside.
