Had bbq salad - tasty! Randy had big face chili burger and plate is empty after lol Love the homey feeling every time. Server and bartender at the same time gives the impression - she's got this. Jody know everyone and even the kids! She's got and Airbnb right next door which should be great for a weekend out in the woods. Love this place and I would be back for the family feeling she always makes her guests feel! And she doesn't have an accent, y'all do!!! read more

Rolling through the Sierra foothills, we pulled off at Hamm's Station for a quick bite and rest and ended up discovering a spot that's anything but ordinary. We ordered the Hamm's Burger with cheese, chicken tenders, and a side of onion rings. Wow. The burger was hands-down one of the best I've had on the road--juicy, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The chicken tenders surprised us too: crispy, perfectly seasoned, and piping hot. Even the onion rings delivered with that golden crunch that's harder to find than it should be. The folks running the place couldn't have been nicer. They welcomed us like regulars, chatted us up about the area's history, and created a laid-back, genuine vibe that made the stop feel special. The girls appreciated the solid WiFi always a win on a family road trip! The building itself has a cool backstory, and it's steeped in the kind of rustic charm that makes Route 88 such a memorable stretch. This isn't just a place to refuel it's a little slice of Gold Country hospitality that absolutely deserves a spot on your itinerary. Clean bathrooms Warm service Great food Historical character Whether you're cruising through or crafting a detailed itinerary like we do, Hamm's Station is a worthy detour. read more

This place is the real deal! A True Sierra Nevada experience. Don't pass it up on Hwy 88. Food is great, drinks are great, Bloody Mary with bacon is off the charts. And the best things about Hams........is the service and automosphere! read more

I had the Mushroom Burger with Potato Salad as a side and it was the best food ever! My husband ordered French Dip Sandwich with a side of Onion Rings and he even had a tequila shot with a beer chaser and he absolutely loved everything! The price was extremely reasonable for such large portions of food which totally caught us off guard. We would have to say this is going to be our most favorite stop overs on our way to Lake Tahoe. Oh, and the staff was extremely friendly, we ate outside to enjoy the beautiful sunshine in Pioneer. read more

Always perfect Been coming off and on as locals for 12 years. Never disappoints. Gonna come back in tomorrow for breakfast

My wife and I stopped for lunch on our way back from Reno. All I can say is keep driving. We each had a burger that was over cooked and had no flavor and the fry's had no flavor or salt on them. My wife did like the potato salad so guess that was the highlight. We also waited about 40 minutes for our food when a couple that showed up at least 15 minutes after us got there food 10 minute before we did. Oh and the bathroom is one step above an outhouse. It is a cool place with great history just wish they would do it more justice, if it had even close to good food we would go back. read more

Great place to grab a bite and a few drinks. Cozy atmosphere. Sit on the patio and get some great views and fresh air

You have to try their $20 burger! I have tried almost everything on their menu and nothing disappoints. My husband and I love the beautiful drive up to this place. The staff are so much fun and make you feel like you're apart of a family, every visit we've never had a dull moment. The servers definitely have a sense of urgency. You can either sit at a table with your family or hang out at the bar. Hands down, best place around! read more

Pros: quaint little spot to grab a bite off the 88 where there aren't many options. Some staff is friendly, portions are generous, price is decent. Cons: the hours posted aren't necessarily when they open and close. We tried to get dinner at 5:30pm when they said they close at 6 and it was closed. Ended up having to drive another 15 miles for food. Most of the staff is very nice except for a negative experience my husband had. read more

Good food, good ambience, good service and amazing bloody Mary's thank you! Be back soon!

This place is sort of a "stop" i make when visiting family in California from Reno. THE BEST SWEET POTATO FRIES. This place makes em nice and crispy and not too salty. The sandwiches are generous and yummy too. read more

We were passing through and decided to stop because we wanted to avoid the Brunch/Lunch rush back in town on a Sunday. We were surprised to find they were equipped with a full bar on site. However the service was really slow for only 3 couples including us. Their burgers could use a bit of seasoning. They served water in red solo cups and we never got water refilled. read more

Awesome food, great people and the view is amazeballs, absolutely worth the stop. We'll be making it a point to stop here more often whe we're in the area. read more

What a gem this place is! Everything that comes on your plate is cooked with love! Fresh and largely portioned, you're bound to walk away full. The family who owns the place and their entire team are one of the most hospitable groups you'll ever encounter. They love what they're doing, and it shows. Eat outside on the patio, the view is outstanding. They do get busy, so bring a little patience during rush time and enjoy an amazing Bloody Mary or a local draft beer. It's an amazingly unique experience that can't be compared. Oh and P.S. we stayed at one of their historic cabins on the property and it was such a cozy homey stay. We got to enjoy a private deck with one of the best views in the area:) Thank you team! We really appreciated everything that you do here! read more

Ham's Station - Best bloody Mary's around! - American Near Me - Pioneer, California

Yesterday, my "foodie" friend and I paid a visit to Ham's Station, after over a year. What an amazing restaurant! Thanks to the COVID-19 scare, I've hardly left home in the last couple months, but "good winds" are starting to blow my way, and Amador County, along with many other rural counties in California have lifted most dining restrictions, so it's back to dining the way dining is meant to be. Today was a perfect day to pay a visit to Ham's Station, owned and operated by the Gladen family, and to enjoy barbecue, which is one of the famous offerings that Ham's Station is noted for. Chef Bobby had up his grill in the parking lot, in front of the restaurant, which made for a friendly greeting. He grills using oak and madrone wood, which grow locally. He mentioned that he uses pine - which is softwood and not suitable for grilling - to get the oak and madrone started. It's "old school" grilling, and it's great! Since today was Friday, and during late spring, summer and early fall, Friday IS barbecue at Ham's Station, we went with barbecue. We asked Chef Bobby for a combination of meat the meat he was cooking, and Jody brought us a "plate for two," complete with pulled pork, brisket and chicken, all hot off the grill. Our meat was served "family style" which is the way Adrienne and I "roll" when we dine together. Our sides of potato salad and beans arrived separately, in individual size cups. Chef Bobby is an expert when it comes to all things "kitchen," and when he's outdoors at the smoker, or the grill, he creates masterpieces. The grilled chicken, pulled pork and brisket were seasoned, marinated, and grilled "just right," over oak and madrone wood, which grows locally, and provided "just the right amount" of smoky taste, without being overpowering. All cuts of meat were tender, juicy, and delicious. We LOVED all of it!! Just for the record, if you are a "fan" of barbecue, you'll know there are several genres of barbecue, and this delicious meat was grilled as "California," or "Santa Maria" style barbecue. Whatever you want to call it, this barbecue was delicious! I helped myself to pulled pork, brisket and chicken from the "family style" platter, pulled off the top of my beans and potato salad, took a few bites, and realized that I HAD to take a photo of my amazing lunch! As I mentioned before, the meat was grilled over oak and madrone, in the "Santa Maria" genre of barbecue, which is indigenous to California. Bobby's tangy, saucy, delicious in-house made barbecue sauce put this lunch "over the top!" The meat was the star of the lunch but all barbecue meals at Ham's Station include a side of potato salad and beans. I am a lover of all things "beans" and "potato salad," so I was a happy diner! Bobby's potato salad was red potatoes, cut into chunks, with the skin still on, which is the way I like it. Like all potato salad, it had the usual chopped onion, celery, pickle, mustard and mayonnaise. But, like everything Chef Bobby produces, this potato salad was tangy, delicious, and was some of the best potato salad that I've had the pleasure to enjoy for YEARS!!! Like the potato salad, the beans were made from "scratch," and were pinto beans, cooked in a thick, tangy red sauce. These beans could be described as "cowboy beans," as they're the kind of beans that you'd enjoy around the campfire, after a long day on the cattle drive, on the old Chisholm trail. Delicious beans! It was amazing to enjoy Chef Bobby's wonderful barbecue, chat again with Jody and little Georgia, and meet sister Amy. The Gladen family is as friendly as it gets, Chef Bobby has awesome culinary talent, and the food and friendly atmosphere are as good as it gets! Ham's Station receives another vote from me for fine dining in Amador County... Delicious food, rustic atmosphere, and the Gladen family, which own and operate the restaurant are are amazingly friendly, and will treat you as family. This fine roadhouse rates 5-stars, all the way! read more

Holy Moly. What a great burger! We stopped here on an unplanned visit due to bypassing the road work on 50. Man, am I glad we did! I ordered the Onion Burger and it was stupid good (see pic). 5/7/2021-Had breakfast there this morning. There were 4 of us, and we were all well pleased. We were the only customers at the time, and I can't imagine why. There was a sunny patio available, where dogs were welcome. And there was inside dinning. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The food was the best! Two of us had bacon and eggs. I had 5 pieces of bacon cooked to crispy perfection. Two medium eggs cooked perfectly. Crispy hash browns, and toast. Two of us had thepancakes galore; with two delicious pancakes, 4 pieces of crispy bacon, and two medium eggs. My husband had coffee and said it was really good. All plates were under $10.00! This place should be packed with customers! read more

We are Pine Grove locals for 30+ years. We noticed about 6 months ago that there was some work going on at Ham's Station. We came up after looking for breakfast at a place that was closed (supposed to be open) in Pine Grove. Walked in to Ham's and was so impressed with the changes in the place. Great work! We ordered a couple of beverages at the bar, and ordered a "The Ted" Basically a BLT with Avocado, we added a medium fried egg. The sandwich came PACKED with all ingredients, and tastey bacon that was at least 2 inches wide. The taste was amazing. We will be back for the Prime rib dinner tonight! read more

The staff is nice. But the food was not the best. They said that they got a new chef. They need to get a other chef.

What a yummy place to eat. We sat out side and enjoyed some amazing bloody Mary's with all of the dressings. Breakfast came out promptly, everyone's food was prepared as ordered, hot and very tasty. Thank you Tina for great service! I ordered the brisket scramble. I would have preferred the bbq sauce on the side but it was still amazing. Their bbq is extremely delicious and greatly beat our expectations. We got a rib plate to go and it was really large portion size, greatly seasoned with an amazing sauce. The baked beans and potato salad was home made and delicious. Most baked beans you get are too sweet. Hams doesn't put tomato or sugar in their baked beans, so it's just very savoury. They are also extremely friendly, the prices are reasonable and the views and restaurant are very lovely. read more

OUTSTANDING!!! So we had no idea where to stop, seen this place and tried it. So glad we did! The burger Pattie's are hand pressed. They make almost everything homemade. I finally got to go and check this place out. We had breakfast, skiers sandwich and build your own omelette. Large portions and so good. It's smaller than I thought, but really nice. I was driving what seemed like endlessly through the snow and ice covered roads of 88 and my hunger was at an all time high. I didn't know if I'd see another eatery for awhile and then there was Hams Station since 1863. Completely covered in snow but there it was the OPEN sign. My heart and stomach leapt for joy. I sat down and the server and cook were so friendly and accommodating. I ordered two very large chocolate milks and the Breakfast Burrito. This was by far the best breakfast burrito I had ever had in my entire life. Everything was fresh and firm, no mushy insides and the tortilla was just right. It made my trip across the mountain range far more enjoyable. read more
