The reviews made it a quick decision to head over to Teresa's Place! As soon as we entered, the staff placed us in a quiet area that made me feel "at home". Servers explained the menu and specials promptly. Warm fresh bread was a perfect starter since we had just enjoyed wine tasting. We ordered the lasagna and chicken D'Aglio. I chose a pesto sauce for my pasta. Their entrees as filling, as these come with minestrone soup, bread, and salad. I couldn't get enough of the croutons, dressing, and garbanzo beans with the fresh, crisp salad! When you're here, make sure to walk around inside to admire the decor and read their family's rich history, including photos with the Pope St. John Paul II. I enjoyed reading a bit of Italy geography and history on the dining table place mat too! This is a big restaurant with plenty of tables, especially ideal for bigger parties like family gatherings. There's so much to see and enjoy while you wait for your food! When I boxed up my leftovers, one of the staff came to me and helped me scrape the creamy, garlic and olive oil sauce from the chicken dish and scrape the pesto from the bottom of the pasta dish into my to-go box. This is the type of personal service I love and appreciate from family-owned restaurants! I was stranded, hungry, gut gnawing itself in some Dantean ring of small-town purgatory, when out of the fluorescent chaos of a Raley's supermarket, a Gen Z angel with Wi-Fi wings took pity on me. Her phone pulsed like the North Star and she pointed me down to salvation: Teresa's Place. By God, I arrived. The sun was bleeding out across the horizon, Main Street slipping into shadow, and there it was: a glowing sign like a neon Eucharist. Parking lot across the street. The doorway pulled me in like a vacuum cleaner from 1952. Inside: dim red tones, white lights surgical and holy, Brooklyn noir under an Amador County sky. Louie's Restaurant vibes--but Sollozzo ain't getting shot here, sweetheart. No: this is Jackson. This is love. The service? Think grandma with a cigarette in one hand and a stopwatch in the other--warm but brisk, like they've been running this joint since Prohibition and ain't about to let you slow them down. Then dessert: WALNUT PIE. Who makes walnut pie? Teresa's does. Whipped cream piled like the Alps. I licked the plate like a lunatic. Let's be clear: this is no bland Chili's with soul vacuum décor. This is a time machine, a love letter, a belly hug from the Old Country. Cozy, romantic, small-town crickets outside and Sinatra crooning in your bloodstream. And the kicker? The wall of dollars. A shrine of American greenbacks pinned with a tiny Italian flag, Grandma Teresa watching from the photo frame like a saint with marinara rosary beads. Each bill matched, money funneled to five local charities. You eat, you drink, you laugh, you sin, and you walk away knowing your gluttony just saved the world--or at least a piece of Amador County. Five out of five, no hesitation, no irony. Teresa's Place is the real deal, a mad holy Italian fever dream in a town you didn't even know existed. This place is really unique and has a lot of history. I would recommend dining here for the rich history. There's a page on the menu all about the house. We were greeted by Teresa's own granddaughter. Our large group was seated in the back room. They have a large menu and everything comes with soup and salad. My friend and I decided to split our entree since our group ordered a few appetizers to share. The waitress asked if we wanted soup and salad for both of us (for the one entree order) so we said yes. Beware! We were never told that it was an additional $21! I can understand $5 extra, but the $21 upcharge is a little ridiculous considering that the soup and salad came out in huge bowls served family style anyways. We did complain at the end when we were presented with the bill and discovered how much it was. It was taken off but the waitress wasn't happy about it. The food was good but some thought theirs was a bit on the plain side. I liked my shrimp scampi dish. The rib eye was also good and a huge portion. read more

I've been going to this restaurant since I was a kid. Not too many family style restaurants anymore and this one stands the test of time. This family owned, authentic, home style cooking Italian restaurant is a piece of history I. The Jackson area. As soon as you step through the doors it is clear that this place has plenty of history. It is usually packed so I suggest that you make a reservation or you could be waiting In The bar area for awhile for a table. The service is very attentive, they make you feel like you're at home. The food is very good and fresh. Plus they give you alot of it. You get started off with bread, then comes the yummy minestrone soup, after comes the fresh salad (I would've been happy with that as my main meal TBH)a plate a spaghetti, some antipasto and then your main meal. So much food. Don't get me started on the desserts. I recommend the spumoni. This place bring back so many good memories for me so I hope it gives you some future ones. read more

i wasn't disappointed, but it didn't wow me either. got the chicken parm for my first visit. i'll start with the positives: service was great, historic ambience is cool, love the family-owned story. however, this was the first time i've had to add salt and pepper to my meal in an italian restaurant. also, the chicken was too dry. for the house salad, their "creamy italian" (as the waitress calls it), tastes weird. not quite italian dressing, nor thousand island. can't y'all just give us a classic italian dressing please. there isn't much competition in this sleepy country town, so they've been doing their thing for over 100 years. more power to them. but that doesn't mean it's automatically the best restaurant, they've just been around for a long time. read more

We started with a bowl ( not cup) of soup that was very good with french bread(bottom was hard). Next we were given a large bowl of salad with thousand island dressing to share. The salad of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, beets, cheese, and croutons was very good but an Italian restaurant should have a house made Italian dressing. We were not given choice. This was followed by chicken Marcella and chicken piccata. The chicken Marcella with mushrooms and bow tie pasta was good. I did not like the chicken piccata that was swimming in sauce. The pasta is not house made. We did not finish our wine and were given a grease spotted Safeway bread bag to put bottle in. I assume the bread we had is from Safeway. The place is eclectic inside. Went there for Mother's Day, as they advertised Prime Rib, which all in our party of six wanted. We had reservations for 5:30, So they had only been open an hour. First thing they say as they were seating us was, "We're out of Prime Rib. Also, we're out of the one cut of meat on the menu, but we can substitute another cut fir the same price." I mean, the place has been in business for decades. Surely they know how to order enough product for busy holiday, and ran a big ad in the paper promoting Prime Rib for Mother's Day. The items we did order was mediocre at best. I've been coming to Teresa's since the 70's. The last few times certainly does not reflect the way it used to be. We're done with Teresa's. read more

As a native to the area, I have grown up going to Teresa's and it's always a treat. Yesterday my husband and I went for dinner and I had the chicken piccata and he had the shrimp salad. My piccata was tender and there was ample sauce. The salad that came with it was large, hardy, and served with their house dressing. I joked with my husband that he got the shrimp "DIY" salad. Lol I'd never seen it come out like that. It was massive, which delighted my hungry hubby, but it was a bit difficult to manage due to the size and the fact that the lettuce wasn't cut. In the end, our server gave us a bowl that he could pile some ingredients into and eat from. It was a picture-worthy salad, just a bit difficult to get into. A solid 4, Solid. 103 years in business! We had no issues getting a table for 5 on a Saturday at 6pm and we're seated immediately. The service was promt and David was a pleasure to interact with. They server the table just like Basque restaurants. After starting with fresh warm bread, you then order your main dish. The server brings out a big bowl of minestrone soup to share and same with the salad. No soup left at our table! Two of us had the eggplant parmigiana, my wife had the beef ravioli and one had Halabit. This is defdefinitely a place where people go to eat and hang out. Really looked forward to dinner here after a fun day of wine tasting. The atmosphere is great, bright and colorful with a lot to look at including lots of family pictures as this restaurant is family owned. The menu is pretty basic with the usual pastas. Chicken was what I was craving and all meals come with a minestrone soup, salad and bread with butter. We ordered a bottle of red Chianti wine and it was very Italian with jute around the bottle which added to the atmosphere of the restaurant. The soup came first and it was tasty but all the vegetables were blended so it had the taste of minestrone but you couldn't differentiate what exactly you were eating, different! The salad was very good with a tasty dressing similar to thousand island. My chicken was good with lots of tomatoes and mushrooms but the sauce was pretty bland in flavor. The pasta on the side also had sauce that wasn't the most flavorful. Maybe it needed cheese! We had a good time and enjoyed our wine! read more

This Restaurant deserves "10" stars if I could . From start to finish we have a fantastic time . They were very busy on a Friday night. We had 6 of us . The owner (lady can't remember her name sorry , seated is in about 15 minutes. Kristen was our server who was so so sweet and you could tell she and everyone at Teresa loves their job. They hustled to say the least . Our dinners came with a huge bowl of minestrone soup, huge family style salad , delicious bread , and our meal. Ravioli was delicious, lasagna was one of the best we've ever had , the spumoni ice cream was delicious as well. We had 2 bottles of Cooper Vineyard Cab, & a Barbara wine which was so good . I've been going to Teresa's (formerly Buscaglia's) since I was a little girl, and I'm 75 now! It's never failed to feel like I'm being served food that's from the best nonna in the world! I went there with my sisters and brother and my family and had a great time, and the food is as good as it's always been. We were served by the granddaughters of the person who started the restaurant 105 years ago. I've never been to a restaurant where the food and ambience are equally fabulous! This place is a total gem in a gold rush town! Not only is it happily run by the grandchildren of the name sake, but what a beautiful relationship her grandkids have to be joyfully running this restaurant and being local historians in their 70's! So lovely to meet Alicia the host/tour guide and Teresa (eldest granddaughter) and waitress. There is a reason why their family style minestrone soup and family size house salad (similar to Olive Garden or any Italian establishments in Italy, they bring it to you to serve) was considered popular because we truly couldn't get enough! There are just some classic dishes you don't mess with and they're free with your entrees!! We recommend their linguini and clams pasta if you're already a salty seafood lover. The price isn't cheap, but every single person left with takeout boxes -- so have expectations of taking home a lot of food for the next day. We can't wait to go back to try more dishes! read more

The food is good, but the pricing is misleading. We were a party of 10, and my daughter ordered a pizza and my husband and I split a meal. They charged us $21 for soup and salad twice, on top of our meals - and the soup and salad is served family-style so it was not even extra food/plating. On top of that, they will not allow their customers to bring home the leftover soup or salad, claiming they "feed it to the cows.". And finally, they put a 20% tip onto the bill. Benn going here for years but has been awhile. We had a bottle of old vine zin by Sobon a local winery. It was very good and reasonably priced. I had the half ravioli and spaghetti with bolagnese sauce. My wife had the chicken. Comes with minestrone soup salad and bread . All very good. I grew up coming to Teresa's with my parents and sister about once every few years, so coming in the week or two before Christmas was like walking down memory lane. Decorated for the holidays, it felt even warmer and cozier than I remember. My guy had never been before, and it was the perfect spot to stop in for an early dinner after day tripping in Jackson. Just as I remembered, the bread and soup were delectable to start, as were the generous salad portions - I can't rave enough about the toppings and dressing! For my main entree, I ordered the chicken piccata, and he chose the fettuccine Alfredo. By the time they arrived, we were nearly full from the bread, soup and salad, but still managed to push through ;) We "settled" for sharing dessert - walnut pie - because it felt criminal to leave without something sweet to top it all off. 10/10 would recommend this classic, unpretentious restaurant if you're craving great Italian home cooking. So happy to see that this local business has stood the test of time; check out their family history on the menu or ask your server!
