Handford Benedict - kinda weird - Tangy hollandaise, good potatoes.
Annalise A.

In short: -Cute little restaurant attached to a hotel -Food was okay - hit or miss. -Service was not great. - parking very limited- 6 spot? And technically only for hotel guests. I was excited to try this place as I was in town for a wedding and it had good reviews. It has potential but unfortunately today was a let down. My vegan friend had gone the night before and enjoyed her peanut noodle bowl with tofu! So that's good apparently) So we had high hopes but when we went today before 10am they were out of black beans for the one vegan option for my friend and didn't offer to make it without or anything it was painful to watch and to eat in front of her. Lattes looked good. My boyfriend is not picky but said the house coffee was average and got the All Sutter Creek- bacon eggs and toast and it just looked sad. Bacon was burnt, wheat toast was small and looked like cheap wonderbread. Eggs were fine but nothing better then we have at home he said. I got the Handford Benedict and it looked good but tasted strange. I didn't like the hollandaise sauce, it was tangy. Eggs were cooked well and potatoes were good, but overall with prosciutt ( meh), steamed unseasoned spinach and goat cheese made it too tangy. Hot sauce made it edible. French toast looked yummy with a nice amount of fruit on top and my friend seemed to enjoy it. I don't think I'd come back since the food is so unpredictable. A few things to fix - the bench seat wobbled whenever anyone moved at the other end, and the hot sauce wooden cap needs to be glued on! - it keep turning and comes off and gets glue in peoples food and looks gross underneath. I hope this helps you guys improve.

Chilaquiles - A plate of chilaquiles features crispy tortilla chips topped with scrambled eggs, sliced red onions, fresh cilantro, and a drizzle of sour cream. The dish is served on a white plate, with some sauce visible underneath the chips. The presentation includes garnishes of cilantro and onion, highlighting typical ingredients of this Mexican breakfast dish.

Came here for Sunday brunch with the girls after our hike. We decided to get a few items so we could try a little bit of everything. I saw chilaquiles on the menu and immediately had to get them. They did not disappoint! It came with both red and green salsa which is good if you're indecisive like me. For something sweet, we shared their French toast with fresh fruit. It was almost too pretty to eat! The dish that surprised me the most was their vegan breakfast bowl. It's a tofu scramble with tomato masala chutney and it's full of different flavors. The only thing that was just okay was the omelette probably because of the goat cheese. I'm just not a big goat cheese lover.

Double smash burger and fries - A white oval plate holds a burger cut in half, revealing beef patty, cheese, and toppings, accompanied by French fries and a small dish of ketchup. The setting appears to be a restaurant with a countertop and barware visible in the background.

We love it here. We walked in at 5:00 and sat at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the bartender and hostess. I had a delicious gin, basil cocktail. My husband and I split the double smash burger and fries, and it was the perfect amount! Burger was juicy and well seasoned with a tasty sauce and crisp pickles. Fries were excellent. Very crispy and well seasoned! Great meal! We'll be back.

There is a cute little hotel attached to Element ,

We were in town visiting & we were looking for a breakfast /brunch restaurant. Reservation made & it was AWESOME! This place was the absolute cutest . It was kind of farmhouse , modern vibe. I love the simplicity of the decor, Our server was Hannah B. & she was very friendly & upbeat & the most beautiful smile we definitely enjoyed our dining experience w/ this young Lady ! We would honestly just back to see her. The food was delicious & hot , very well presented on the plate . I have to say that the waffles were an interesting combination but was delighted by the flavors lemon waffle w/ macerated strawberries , chopped pistachios, basil & homemade whipped cream. It was an explosion of delightful flavors a must try for sure ! We will most definitely be back in the near future.

Brunch menu. - A menu from Element restaurant in Sutter Creek, CA, displays various breakfast options, sides, coffee, and cocktails. The menu includes items such as eggs, omelettes, toasts, bowls, and beverages, with prices listed next to each item. The menu is printed on a blue sheet of paper with a simple layout, and a shadow partially covers the right side of the menu.

This is our second visit after the opening post covid. Have been more times than our original review. Service is laid back and takes time. So don't be in a hurry. We travel with our dog. Dog friendly is important. Outdoor seating is available for us and dog. Relatively large patio. Food....omelet with caramelized onions, bacon, spinach and goat cheese was great. Fingerling potatoes a nice touch. The All Sutter Creek...traditional breakfast with eggs, sausage and toast.

Spicy chicken sandwich - A person, wearing a white sleeveless top, holds a half-eaten fried chicken sandwich with toppings such as coleslaw and pickles. The sandwich is in a bun and appears crispy. The person's hand is visible, with a ring on the finger. In the foreground, there is a white plate with remnants of a meal, including a fork and some leftover food. The background shows a brick wall and outdoor lighting.

This is a spot we always drive by on the way to another favorite restaurant. I haven't been back home in a while so I suggested let's try something new -- and we were pleasantly surprised! Everything we ate was exceptional. Service was lovely. They apologized that the only table they had available was outside, but it was a fantastic summer night. We would have chosen outside anyway. Lovely evening visiting family and cannot recommend this hidden gem more. Food was so good I forgot to take a photo until halfway through. Oops. Just trust that anything will be 10/10

A breakfast plate includes scrambled eggs garnished with a sprig of herbs, grilled sausage slices, two pieces of toasted bread, and a small serving of jam. In the background, there is a bowl of noodle soup with various toppings, placed on a wooden table. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment.

Element is a treat I love to enjoy when staying at Hanford house. The menu is simple yet enjoyable with an abundance of flavor and creativity. Trying a sweet and savory item from them menu is highly recommended. The ambiance is clean and comfortable for all. Will be back for the cinnamon rolls and great customer service.

Eggs Benedict's, Huevos Rancheros, and Lemon Ricotta waffle - A top-down view of a wooden table with three main dishes: a fruit tart with a mint leaf on top, eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce and pink pickled onions, and roasted potatoes with slices of meat and two dollops of hollandaise. There are also empty white plates, a bottle of hot sauce, and utensils arranged around the dishes.

This place is modern and bright. Great for a date and some quality food. You'll be greeted with smiles as you walk in. The start to a great meal is great service. This place is wonderful. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros, Eggs Benedict, and Lemon Ricotta Waffle. The food was amazing. We had to order extra potatoes bc WOW. Their mustard here has a bit of horseradish and pairs very well with the potatoes. Ask for a side of mustard.

Delightful place to eat the food was amazing (eggs benedict) the service was great love sitting outside people watching we truly enjoyed our selves definitely going back

So yummy!!

My favorite place to eat in Sutter Creek, the food is amazing and the drinks are delicious!! Everyone is so nice and helpful, and the place is adorable and clean!

Shrimp & Grits - A dish of shrimp and grits is presented on a white round plate, topped with cooked shrimp, chopped herbs, and a sauce. A lemon wedge is placed on the side of the plate. The dish is set on a wooden table, with a spoon resting on the plate. The presentation emphasizes the seafood and creamy grits, with fresh herbs adding color.

Kind of a mixed bag for us this visit... There were aspects of the meal that were great. Service was prompt and courteous. As for the food, the arancini was excellent and the arrabbiata sauce comforting with just a hint of heat. The shrimp and grits were very good with a generous amount of shrimp on a bed of creamy polenta. My wife's fried chicken sandwich, however, was served burnt, requiring her to remove most the breading. Cocktails were particularly disappointing - very weak and seemingly devoid of alcohol. I ordered a Scotch +2 that was served in a low ball glass filled to the brim with ice chips that couldn't have had more than an ounce of any liquid, mostly mixer. The following morning's breakfast order was placed with the front desk the night before and was wrong when served. We will likely give Element another try down the road. I see a lot of positive reviews, so I'll hope for more attention to detail on our next visit.

Mussels, Thyme Stands Still, and Kentucky Apple Cider - A wooden table features two plates of cooked mussels, garnished with herbs and sauce. One plate includes slices of toasted bread, and the other has a side of bread. There are two drinks, one with ice and a lemon slice, and a candle providing ambient lighting. A smartphone is placed on the table, and a person's hands are seen preparing or seasoning food in the background.
Joscelyn C.

My all-time favorite date night destination, but I've returned specifically for the mussels with friend. I'll be sorry when it rotates out of season. Their dishes are always so thoughtfully prepared! I think the price points are fair for the quality too. As always, the front of house staff is friendly and hospitable.

Element Element is a small-town restaurant that delivers a big city brunch. Located on Main St just as you're turning into town, the modern, steel sign stands out in a town that otherwise announces itself on quaint hand painted wood. We stayed a The Sutter Creek Inn just down the street and were able to walk to the restaurant. If you're driving, there is a small parking lot, but you may need to go a little further for street parking if they're busy. Their space is really cutely decorated, and it has big windows so the whole cafe is full of natural light. I really loved the feel of the place. There was no wait, and we were seated right away. The menu is small but covers all of the brunch basics, and they even have some quirky twists on the usual classics such as fruity pebble dipped French toast. We went the more familiar route and got an eggs Benedict and breakfast tacos. They were both delicious. The food was delicious and flavorful. The coffee was good- above diner standard. My only wish was that they offered dinner service on the weekends, but until they do, they are a great option for brunch if you're in Amador wine country.

I had the shrimp scampi and my husband had the chicken both dishes were superb!! We started with the shrimp cocktail each and the split pea soup and finished with the Upside down pineapple cake. It was a huge piece. I couldn't eat all of mine. The singer had a beautiful voice, she looked so elegant and it was a tribute to 1957. They gave you a card to answer trivia questions from 1957. Neither of us were born yet so we had to use google. It was a fun thing to do. I'm so glad we took the opportunity to go to the Hotel and afterward we went downstairs to the speakeasy to ring in the New year in Sutter Creek. We live in Sparks, NV so it was nice to get out of town and do something different.

Hotel Sutter Restaurant has been on my list of places to check out in our neck of the woods for a while. We for sure wanted a classy place that served cocktails, and Hotel Sutter fit the bill. Both of us were also craving a good craft burger, and from what I saw in other reviews, the burgers looked delicious. I made a reservation for us on OpenTable just in case, but since it was a weeknight I wasn't too concerned if we had walked in. We were seated nearly immediately, and our server cheerfully asked us what we wanted to drink besides good ole H2O. I was really glad we came to visit around Christmastime, since they were serving holiday cocktails and other beverages. I went with the partridge pear martini, while my husband went with the Santa's spiced cider. My martini was oh so delicious and perfectly strong, and I had a small sip of my husband's cider, which was refreshing with the perfect holiday-esque notes. We read a few mixed reviews on the apps, so went straight to the entrees instead. I chose the bacon jam burger and my husband chose the traveller whiskey burger. Both of us upgraded to the garlic rosemary seasoning. I went with fries and my husband went with tots. Honestly, we were glad that we didn't end up ordering an app, since the burgers themselves were pretty filling! We both asked for medium on the cook temp of our patties, and they delivered. The meat was perfectly juicy with a wonderful charred flavor. The bacon jam was so delicious, and the balsamic arugula paired perfectly with everything. My brioche bun was pillowy and yet did not fall apart with all the juices of the burger. I did not get a chance to try my husband's burger, but he stated that it was also top notch. My fries were piping hot, with a perfect dusting of garlic rosemary flavor and sprinkles of Parmesan cheese. I tried a tot and that was also delightfully crispy and flavorful. We asked for ranch and that went well with both sides. The ketchup was great as well. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Old buildings are always up my alley, and the rich history of Hotel Sutter can truly be felt simply by touching its brick walls (that is, if you believe in the spirit realm). I loved that each table had its own light, but the restaurant had the perfect dim setting for a classy date night. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and kept our waters refilled. We had a concern regarding the pricing of the cider on the bill vs on the menu and that was fixed immediately, with the rest of the staff notified for future reference. It was a tiny discrepancy, but one that we caught quickly and simply wanted to bring up. Hotel Sutter Restaurant is definitely on our places to return to in the future, and I'd love to sit on the balcony some other time and enjoy some brunch and mimosas. If you're looking for an excuse for date night or are just feeling fancy, definitely come relax, sip some delicious cocktails, and enjoy the delicious food Hotel Sutter Restaurant has to offer!

Taste is in the heart of downtown. With two menus and seating areas (the dining room or bar) you must order off the menu where you sit (no cross ordering which is great). Sit at the bar for the bar menu or sit in the dining room for a fixed price menu only but with fantastic choices and you can even get multiple section dishes which they scale down the generous size of a single dish so you can try more food (genius strategy). We were celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary and we went all out like I hit the lottery (don't we all wish?). I started out with the caviar service which came with these incredible potato cakes rather than the usual mini Bellinis. Then we had oysters on the half shell, perfectly shucked, clean and no grit. Nothing ruins an oyster experience like a grit of shell or sand. None of that here! My photos show the entire meal which rivaled many restaurants I have been to in San Francisco. This is a Michelin level dinner but at a reasonable price considering the portions (LARGE) unlike The French Laundry where you get 80% less food for 75% higher prices. This is a place not to miss and is now my #1 pick for January 2026 for a high end quality meal with white glove service in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. I will be returning to check the bar menu which has completely different food. The menu will change so what I listed might not be on the menu but the Mushroom Cigars have always been on the menu for years. It clearly is a crowd pleaser and there is nothing here to critique other than you want to just keep eating! 5 Stars 1 Michelin Star (needs to be awarded here in my book!)

The cookie was huge and packed with oats but still delicious, with the proper texture and not overly sweet. Our sandwiches were simple yet delicious, with fresh ingredients and bread. The clam chowder was the soup of the day and so so good, I love when clam chowder has potatoes with the skin still attached.
